PINF is the first charity in the UK that exists to support high-quality journalism. We exist at the cutting edge of charity law and need an experienced charity professional to make sure we do things properly. 

As Head of Operations & Governance, you will be responsible for overseeing the back-office operations of the charity. You will be a key point of contact for the team and support the Executive Director to ensure smooth, efficient and compliant operations.

You will be a senior member of the team, responsible for ensuring that PINF operates within its legal and regulatory framework, including in relation to charity, corporate, tax, employment and data protection regulations. The role involves liaising with the Chair, Board of Trustees, Executive Director, legal advisors and regulators to support best practice in financial management, governance, risk management and compliance.  

Duties and responsibilities 

• Financial Management 

• Ensure consistent delivery and quality of finance operations, including transactions processing, which will involve managing a bookkeeping service.

• Prepare and monitor annual budgets, management accounts and project budgets.

• Lead on the financial aspects of fundraising, contract management, and funder reporting. Including managing restricted and unrestricted funding. 

• Oversee the process of preparing statutory accounts, including liaising with accountants and auditors.

• Maintain internal controls and policies to protect assets, prevent fraud, and ensure business continuity. 

• Participate in the Finance & Fundraising Committee and support the Treasurer to plan and deliver meetings. 

• Prepare financial reports for board meetings and engage in board discussions.

• Governance 

• Manage our annual governance cycle, working closely with the Chair, Treasurer and Executive Director to ensure legal compliance and to plan and prepare for Board meetings including taking appropriate minutes.

• Manage the organisational risk framework including identifying emerging risks and working with the Executive Director to mitigate them.

• Companies House and Charity Commission filings.

• Develop and maintain a suite of policy to ensure PINF meets its obligations as a charity and an employer.

• Play an active part in board discussion to support good decision making.

• HR 

• Manage HR across the organisation; ensuring all HR processes and policies are fit for purpose, up to date and adhere to law, and are understood and implemented across the organisation.

• Manage recruitment processes for all staff.

• Manage the annual leave tracker. 

• Operations and administration 

• Ensure the smooth running of the organisation by leading operational planning and monitoring progress.

• Lead on relationships and contracts with external suppliers and contractors.

• Ensure PINF has appropriate insurance cover. 

• Occasional support with charitable activities (meetings, events, publications, etc.) 

Requirements  

• A professional qualification in finance, management, law, or a related field and at least five years’ experience relevant to this role.

• Deep understanding of good governance and best practice in the charity sector.

• Understanding of relevant laws relating to employment, data protection and running a charity. 

• Sympathy to the aims and objectives of PINF. 

• Full professional proficiency in English. 

• Right to work in the UK. 

Skills and attributes 

• Experience of managing charity finances and budgets (Essential). A related finance or accountancy qualification would be desirable. 

• Experience of managing operations in a comparable charity or business, with both strategic and day-to-day operational responsibilities. 

• Developing HR processes and policies and taking the lead in implementing these across an organisation. 

• Developing processes and procedures and making improvements for efficiency and impact. 

• Experience of working closely with trustees, non-executives or senior leadership teams.

• Strong oral and written communications skills, including having the confidence to use your expertise to provide feedback and constructive challenge to senior leaders.

• Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills. 

• Ability to work remotely and independently and to collaborate with others. 

• Enjoy being the key point of contact and support in a small, remote team. 

• Ability to stay on top of your workload by using relevant software (including Microsoft Office and finance software such as Xero), keeping accurate and up-to-date records, and prioritising between competing tasks.

About Listening Books

Listening Books is a UK charity providing an audiobook lending service to children and adults who cannot access printed books due to illness, disability, learning or mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression.

About the role

Listening Books provides membership across the UK, with a subsidised membership fee of £25 per year for individuals, and free membership to those who cannot afford to pay a fee. The service is provided directly to individuals, but also through working with hospices, children’s hospitals, care homes and schools.

The Membership and Marketing Assistant will work within the Membership and PR team to help expand awareness of the charity’s work and increase membership in line with the PR and Marketing Strategy.

The Person we are looking for 

We are looking for someone with a passion for books and accessibility, who will enjoy the opportunities and challenges of working in a small organisation. 

This role is mainly focused around maintaining our social media accounts, using these tools to grow and engage our membership, so you’ll enjoy creating appropriate content and interacting with people online. Regular tasks include running an online book group and hosting author interviews, writing blogs, creating partnerships with other charities (for online activities, sharing of information etc) and helping the membership team with designing leaflets, posters and other content. 

As this is a part time role (21 hours per week), you’ll need to manage and divide your time consistently and effectively to meet your recruitment and marketing objectives. Excellent time management is essential.  You’ll have a good understanding of social media best practices and awareness of accessibility standards for content creation, as well as being equally comfortable speaking to members and partners on the phone, online or in person. 

The ideal candidate will have a friendly, can-do attitude, excellent communication skills and a willingness to learn and improve their skills, as well as a desire to help more people access books.  In return, we can offer you 20 days holiday (pro-rata and rising with service), as well as a generous pension scheme.  This is a part time role, and working hours can be flexible, within reason, to fit around parenting, caring responsibilities or other lifestyle choices.

We’re Recruiting – Fundraising Manager 

From your UK home-base you’ll be flying the flag for the charity outside of Wales as a Fundraiser. You’ll put on quality fundraising events and build strong relationships through our reputation and Welsh links making a difference when it comes to people with cancer.

Picture being our Fundraising Manager and putting on fundraising events such as dinners and corporate sponsored events like golf or racing days. The details

Working 28 hours per week flexibly you’ll need a UK work base. The salary is £29,600 (or £37,000 FTE)

Days and hours can be built in and around our standard operating week as set out in our staff benefits. We’re open to making the working week fit into your own lifestyle and the nature and needs of this type of Fundraising role. With a lot of autonomy in where you run events to meet your annual target there may need to be some travel to a city/location where you’re generating the income or some events you run may be in evenings or weekends. 

Around going to work events for the role the rest of the job can be done from home anywhere in the UK. Our Cardiff City Centre Head Office is always available to you too. Most Team meetings and day to day colleague work is handled remotely but we’d expect to see you in the office for things such as our quarterly team meetings.

Purpose of the role

At NEON we believe that organising is crucial if we’re to build the power we need to win a new economy and deepen cross-community solidarity at a time of political polarisation. A central part of our new strategy - and this role -  is to support movement organisations and organisers to build their capacity to do what we call Transformative Organising - where we transform the conditions we live in, transform ourselves and transform who has power in society. We use a combination of trainings, 1-2-1 mentoring and strategic partnerships with movement organisations to give organisers the tools, skills and confidence they need to build a base with those at the sharp end of the crisis, develop politically conscious leaders, and plan strategic & escalating campaigns that win. You’ll work with our Head of Organising and colleagues in the Movement Building Hub to scale up this offer over the coming years, with a particular focus on the housing, climate and migration movements, as well as supporting movements to tackle a rising far-right. 

What you will be doing

1. Deliver organising trainings to social movement organisers and campaigners, using content from our Transformative Organising programme and working closely with our Head of Organising and NEON trainers. These will be a mix of shorter workshops and multi-day trainings, blending in-person and online delivery, and you will be supported to experiment with different delivery models to meet movement needs. 

2. Work in partnership with organisers, organisations and coalitions to build their organising capacity over the long-term, through ongoing mentoring and hands-on support and training.

3. Conduct extensive 1-2-1s with movement organisers, to strengthen relationships, explore opportunities for collaboration and understand movement needs. 

4. Support the development of a network of UK-based organisers, and create spaces for collective learning and ensure NEON’s organising offer meets the needs of organisers on the ground.

5. Work with the Head of Organising to periodically review and update NEON’s Transformative Organising content, staying responsive to movement needs and incorporating the latest organising practices and tools. 

6. Organise public events on organising topics, including webinars and workshops, bringing together organisers from across social movements

7. Contribute to the Movement Building Hub’s wider work, including the organising components of our Worker-led Transition programme and our work to build the strategic capacity of movement leaders and organisations. This role will also contribute to cross-organisational work in NEON’s key focus areas (migration, housing, climate, and tackling the rise of the far-right), as well as projects to support the development of NEON’s internal culture. 

Who you are

This isn’t a tick box exercise and we don’t expect you to meet all of the criteria - it’s more to give both us and you an overall sense of the role, and how the skills and experience you have might map onto it. 

We’re looking for someone with a: 

1. Proven track record of using organising tools and approaches to plan and deliver successful campaigns, with at least 3-5 years of experience. This might include doing base-building, conducting outreach, mapping, organising mass meetings and actions, or integrating political education into campaign planning 

2. Ability to deliver a strategic and escalating organising plan in a fast moving  and politically complex environment 

3. Experience of delivering trainings, including to those at the sharp end of injustice, with a passion for being and developing as a trainer

4. Understanding of UK social movements, their strengths and weaknesses, and opportunities for NEON to provide support 

5. Good communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and sensitively, and work effectively with a range of movement organisations and individuals, including those directly impacted by injustice and oppression

6. Excellent planning skills to ensure projects are designed delivered to a high standard

7. Ability to work independently and flexibly in a dynamic organisation

8. Willingness to occasionally work unsociable hours (always repaid with TOIL)

9. Proven understanding of anti-oppression work and commitment to tackling all institutional forms of oppression, bigotry and exclusion

10. An affinity with NEON’s aims, objectives and organisational values of solidarity, generosity and respect.

To act as an enthusiastic ambassador for the charity; building strong relationships across a variety of networks to support and develop the public presence of the charity and community fundraising income. The role may involve evening and weekend working to support community fundraising activities and events, and working hours are flexible to reflect this.

Key Duties

Fundraising:

• Be the primary point of contact for new and existing supporters.
• Proactively look for opportunities to support and develop local fundraising initiatives.
• Develop and deliver a varied range of fundraising activities to a range of audiences, including events and campaigns.
• Act as an ambassador for the charity with local community groups and organisations.
• Work with the wider team to develop relationships with local businesses and corporate partners.

Marketing & Communications:

• Manage the charity’s digital content including social media channels and website.
• Support with e-commerce and support the enterprise team to maximise opportunities.
• Represent the organisation at networking events, meetings and other outside events, as necessary.

Other:

• Supporting other members of the team to deliver activities; including, but not limited to, activity days and evening clubs.
• To help develop new and innovative ideas to help our target groups and meet our charitable objectives.
• To carry out any other duties within the general scope of the post, as directed by your line manager/the Co-Directors.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Experience:

Skills:

Your insights will contribute to building a deeper understanding the lives of blind partially sighted people, along with the external factors that influence them, and will shape RNIB's activities across all areas of our business.

What you'll be doing

With extensive experience of conducting qualitative and quantitative research studies, you will be producing actionable insights and recommendations resulting from research with a variety of audiences. You'll be collaborating with stakeholders to plan the research and working with internal teams and external suppliers to deliver a range of high quality, complex research studies to guide decision-making.

You'll also be responsible for line managing a team of researchers, developing and nurturing them to build their skills and experience in a variety of research methodologies and related subjects.

What you'll need to succeed

You'll have substantial experience of conducting and commissioning a wide variety of research studies. You'll also have strong analytical skills with the ability to understand a wide range of data sources and to express complex information in a clear, concise, and compelling way.

You'll be comfortable leading cross functional project teams and using agile methodologies to achieve project goals. You'll also demonstrate a strong ability to build effective stakeholder relationships and influence decisions.

This maternity cover role will lead a passionate team that champions the voices of blind and partially sighted people and puts the lived experience of sight loss at the heart of everything we do. You will be ale to contribute to this, perhaps through experience in the healthcare or not for profit sectors, and will ideally have a mix of research agency and client-side experience.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Variety is looking for an experienced Office and Facilities Manager who is proactive and highly organised to oversee the smooth day-to-day running of our office environment. This role blends operations, facilities management, and a bit of people-first thinking—ensuring the workspace is safe, efficient, and enjoyable for everyone. We own our building in Camden which has three floors and we intend to rent out one of the floors (one floor is c2,628sq feet). This role requires management of office building matters, tenants and general office management including assistance to CEO.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 Office Management:

• Oversee daily office operations and maintain a professional, welcoming environment.
• Act as the primary point of contact for office-related vendors (cleaning, supplies, security, etc.).
• Manage office supplies inventory and place orders when necessary.
• Support onboarding/offboarding processes from a facilities perspective
• Handle incoming mail and deliveries and ensure efficient distribution.
• First point of contact for calls, visitors, and general office inquiries.

Governance:

• Assistance to CEO with diary coordination, organisation of events, meetings, and in-office gatherings.
• Coordination of finance committee and Trustee meetings
• Minute taking at meetings as required
• Administrative assistance as required

Facilities Management:

• Oversee building maintenance, safety procedures, and office infrastructure.
• Liaise with tenants, building management, and external contractors to ensure facilities are well-maintained.
• Monitor and manage office budgets related to supplies, utilities, and maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations; manage risk assessments and fire safety drills.
• Lead sustainability initiatives within the office (e.g. recycling, energy-saving practices).
• Ensuring health and safety compliance for staff including being the fire marshal

Cost management

· solicit and compare competitive quotes for office services and building making recommendations based on quality, reliability, and value.

· Negotiate contracts to optimise costs without compromising service standards.

· Proactively identify areas for cost reduction or improvements.

Administrative & Support:

• Maintain records of office leases, utilities, and insurance policies.
• Manage access control systems and office security.
• Support leadership with general administrative tasks when required.
• Create and maintain facilities manuals, process documentation, and onboarding guides.

Other

· Health and safety duties including fire marshal- training will be provided.

· Undertake any other duties that may from time to time be required.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

Essential:

• Proven experience as an Office and Facilities Manager, or similar role.
• Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Problem-solving attitude with a high attention to detail.
• Familiarity with office software (e.g. MS Office, Teams)
• Knowledge of health and safety standards and regulations.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Data Manager to support the continuation of Sightsavers’ digital transformation in data management and analytics. You will be responsible for supporting the development of the governance framework to ensure usability, availability, privacy, security and quality, as well as the data infrastructure that ensures operational and strategic decisions made by Sightsavers are driven by comprehensive, quality assured data. Additionally, you will identify, organise, catalogue and transform data from across the organisation, as well as embedding a new multi stakeholder Data Forum group that will drive the uptake of an Azure based  Operational Data Store and supporting users to leverage Fabric for their data transformations and flows.

This is an exciting time for the Data Analytics Reporting Team (DART) and for the overall organisation, and as Data Architecture and Governance Manager you will play an integral role in this new era of data optimisation for analysis, reporting and decision making.

Key duties will include:

· Create and implement a data governance framework and process

· Launch and lead an organisational Data Forum to oversee the data governance approach with key stakeholders

· Drive the development and demand for new Data Architecture and Master Data Management within the Operational Data Store

· Lead on improving organisational data architecture in Azure utilising Fabric for data management

· Lead on improving organisational data AI solutions

Skills and Experience

To succeed in this role, you will need:

Essential

· Proven successful track record of working with organisational data management systems and applying data analysis/statistical techniques to data (ideally in health or international development).

· Experience of overseeing an Azure based Enterprise Management Information System

· Experience utilising MS Fabric for data management, transformation, data flows etc.

· Strong understanding of the international development/not-for-profit sector, with demonstrable experience in project M&E.

· Experience producing analytical reports or communication materials for a wide range of audiences.

· Use of specialist statistical and analysis software e.g. PowerBI/Tableau or similar, ArcGIS or similar.

· Relevant overseas experience i.e. either professional or voluntary work.

As Senior Finance Officer, you will play a vital role at World Heart Beat, ensuring the effective day-to-day management of finances, financial administration, and bookkeeping, as well as informing future business planning. The operation of two sites has increased our activities and overheads, making the Senior Finance Officer role even more crucial. Our team comprises of an Estate Manager, Office Admin, the post we are looking to recruit to and 2 amazing cleaning staff.

We ensure the smooth & efficient running of the Co-Operative, comprising of 269 flats (42 Social Housing). From a governance perspective,  we are supported by the management committee . 10 members, of which there are 3 Officers, Chair, Secretary and Treasurer.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys a challenge, the buzz of a busy office, engaging with residents and our suppliers. There is regular exposure to engaging with our accountancy firm who look after our company finances & Wandsworth Borough Council, our landlord also.

JOB PURPOSE

The Office Administrator will undertake all administrative support duties, typing, creating letters/templates, maintaining all databases of contact and contractors, filing and responding and maintaining records to standard enquiries. The role also requires answering the phone and logging calls, checking voicemails, opening mail, creating Notices and populating the Notice Boards at regular intervals, ensuring the confidentiality of sensitive information and abiding by Goulden House Co-Operative Ltd GDPR regulations. 

MAIN DUTIES

• Resident engagement, taking and responding to residents’ calls, ensuring that all such engagement is documented on the Goulden House Resident Engagement Database
• Updating the Goulden House Registers (Risk Register, Complaints Register, Anti-Social Behaviour Register, Intercom Databases etc)
• Raise Works Orders and Purchase Orders and services on SAGE as per Estate Manager instruction
• Taking responsibility for the Approved Contractor List, ensuring that the contractor’s documentation is correct and current, i.e. Public Liability, relevant Health & Safety certification
• Liaise with contractors and organising repairs whilst ensuring compliance with the Goulden House Co-Operative Ltd Procurement Policy
• Issuing resident/visitor parking permits
• Monitor CCTV daily putting particular emphasis on fly-tippers
• Updating of Notice Boards across the site
• Inspecting the cleanliness of the Communal Areas twice weekly and signing off of the Cleaning Schedules which are placed in all of the Communal Areas, in the absence of the Estate Manager.  
• Estate walk around as required or in the Estate Manager’s absence
• To undertake such duties as are reasonably assigned to you from time to time by Estate Manager

 SERVICE DELIVERY

• To take a pro-active role in Health & Safety issues on the estate.
• To assist in ensuring the Co-operatives’ aims in relation to customer awareness are achieved.
• To promote a positive image through the development of good working relationships with tenants, lessees, committee members, contractors, Wandsworth Council staff and other agencies.
• To ensure equal opportunities policies and procedures are complied with in relation to staff, members, residents and the general public.
• The Office Administrator may be required to take on any other duties that may be reasonably expected of the position as advised by the Estate Manager
