Northumberland Domestic Abuse Service

NDAS provides support to all victims who have been the subject of domestic abuse/violence, supports them through the criminal justice system and offers relevant advice and assistance, both practical and emotional. 

NDAS empowers victims to make decisions, increase their options, their confidence and safety.  Prevention and awareness raising activities are also delivered across Northumberland and counselling to the children of our service users.

Established in 2003, NDAS has a track record of providing excellent services and is a key member of domestic abuse provision in Northumberland.  We have a secure financial foundation and are looking forward to developing our team to continue to provide essential services in tackling domestic abuse.

Purpose of the job

 You will be an important member of the Senior Management Team, supporting the CEO to drive income growth. To be successful in this role you will be a strategic thinker who is highly organised, adaptable and flexible, able to inspire campaigns, appeals and experiences to drive income growth across a range of platforms and linking in potential support to the work of NDAS. 

You will form strong working relationships with stakeholders and funders.  You will have strong experience of working with partner agencies, negotiating costs, managing contracts and driving performance to achieve targets.

As Fundraising Manager, you will work closely with the CEO and SMT.  Also attending the Finance Sub-Group meetings that report into the Board.

 Key Accountabilities

1. You will work with the CEO to maintain and implement the Fundraising Strategy.

2. You will develop strategic relationships with funders and stakeholders.

3. You are accountable for the management, performance and reporting on all income strands.

4. You will work with the CEO to produce a bi-monthly Funding Overview report and projected Income Generation Plans for consideration by the Finance Sub-Group and to be reported to the Board

Responsibilities:

 1. Planning, implementing and driving forwards the Fundraising Strategy with a focus on expanding the range and size of income sources.

2. Identify new funding streams from Trusts, Statutory agencies and corporates, and submit funding bids.

3. Manage Individual Giving and Legacies

4. With the CEO produce and maintain an Income Generation Plan with a timeline setting deadlines for the submission of funding applications

5. Work with the CEO and Finance Manager to manage the allocation of costs across the budget and to ensure delivery in line with funding requirements.

6. Work with the SMT to manage and monitor all outcomes associated with each funding stream.

7. Produce funding applications with informative narrative content and robust data

8.   Maintain a monitoring schedule and produce reports in line with funder/stakeholder requirements also with informative narrative content and robust data

9.   Maintain regular communication with funders and potential funders to build strong working relationships and increase funding opportunities

10. Support the CEO in developing strategic and operational plans for the organisation

11. Monitor and collate other outcomes and achievements of the organisation.

12. Attend the SMT and Team Meetings (as needed).

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for the right person to join the Refugee Migrant Centre as its Finance Assistant. RMC is an established, award winning, regional charity, renowned for its work with refugees and migrants.

For over 23 years, RMC has assisted thousands of refugees and migrants from 162 countries. It has helped to remove the barriers to integration, helping its clients become equal citizens, using a whole-person approach to the delivery of services from specialist legal advice through to education and employment programmes. ​

With the organisation expanding the finance department is also expanding and there is need for a Finance Assistant who will work closely with the key members of the finance department. This is an exciting time to be joining the team, as RMC are strengthening and expanding its infrastructure following a period of growth in staff, activities and turnover (from £776k to £3.8 million in the last 5 years).

Purpose and Scope of the Role

Job purpose:   

To support the Finance Officer in all aspects of the finance function and be responsible for the Financial Administration side of the the team's daily activities. Maintaining accurate records and assisting with the production of financial reports for month end proceudres as required by the finance Manager. Must also be able to communicate effectively with internal and external staff and be able to work on using your own initiative within a team as well independently. The role requires excellent attention to detail.

Main duties and responsibilities of the role

The post holder will have at least 2 years’ in-depth Admin & Book-keeping experience which includes:  

· Excellent book keeping, including bank reconciliations, sales and purchase ledger maintenance.  

· Assisting the Finance Officer to record and monitor and track income and expenditure and maintaining balanced and highly accurate records using QuickBooks. 

· Regular use of Excel to assist with maintaining and updating financial documents.

· Maintaining petty cash and reconciling monthly for the petty cash. accounts for Volunteers' expenses and general petty cash accounts for all 4 sites.  

· Ordering equipment and stationery using the correct process and negotiating with suppliers as well as matching invoices to delivery notes.  

· Monthly supplier statement reconciliations as well as liaising with suppliers to deal with any discrepancies.  

· Analyse staff expenses in line with the organisation's policy.  

· Assisting with the pension scheme reconciliations each month. 

· Assist in the weekly payment runs to suppliers through faster payment matching, batching, coding, and posting supplier invoices

· HMRC and Pension Journals.

· Filling and scanning documents

· Assisting in any other tasks required for the position

Flexibility 

In order to deliver the stated aims of for this post, a degree of flexibility is needed and the post holder may be required to perform work not specifically referred to above, such duties will fall within the scope of the job and be directly related within the appropriate pay grade. The job description will therefore be subject to periodic review with the post holder to ensure it accurately reflects the duties that are being performed 

Essential  

• Minimum 2 years in an equivalent Finance Position.

Reporting to: Rector

PURPOSE

The Communications Lead will develop and optimise each communications channel so that the churches of St Matthew and St Paul connect well with each other and the wider community.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Working with the Rector and other clergy and staff, the Communications Lead is responsible for the following:

1. Strategy & planning

• With the Rector, prepare and implement an annual communications plan around key events and special services for the parish
• Maintain and develop the parish’s visual branding and style

2. Communications channels

• Oversee the generation of content for each channel, edit content produced by others for accuracy and appropriateness, and produce content, as required
• Website – develop the website to optimise its usefulness [NB a new website design is underway]
• Weekly Email – produce the weekly Mailchimp email
• Social Media – maintain and grow audiences on Facebook and Instagram; schedule content using Meta business suite
• Magazine – create a fun and informative printed magazine in-house three times a year (currently done using Canva)
• Video – record a weekly video message with one of the clergy, for use in the weekly email; produce other videos as and when required
• Youtube – manage the parish’s Youtube channel
• Produce materials and promote services and events across key periods in the church’s calendar (e.g. Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter), through printed and online channels
• Promote the parish’s outreach groups and events (e.g. Coffee Pot, Bumps & Babies, Have a Meal on Us and Community Day), through printed and online channels
• Produce other printed materials as necessary (e.g. leaflets, posters, flyers and roller banners), in keeping with our branding
• Photography – take pictures when required, adhering to the parish’s safeguarding and consent policies; organise church volunteers to capture images when necessary

3. Other responsibilities

• Staff the church office on Tuesdays and Thursdays (e.g. answering calls and questions from volunteers and/or people hiring the hall).
• Liaise, as necessary, with the diocesan and cathedral communications teams
• Complete all necessary training and comply fully with all safeguarding, health & safety and risk management procedures
• Attend meetings as indicated by the Rector
• Other duties commensurate with the role, as may be required

About us

Parallel is a small but ambitious charitable initiative doing big things: we currently support over 3,000 students through our maths enrichment activities, around 500 of whom receive dedicated weekly, small-group online tutorials in The Parallel Academy. Our mission is to support students on our programmes to fulfil their mathematical potential, by providing them with the opportunity to develop their reasoning and problem-solving skills beyond the curriculum. 

Our students are motivated and ambitious. Although our maths programme is optional and takes place outside of school hours, students have an average attendance above 95%.

The Role

We are rapidly expanding our service provision over the coming months, and are seeking a full or part-time Project Administrator to join our passionate and energetic team. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth delivery of our programmes and help embed the tools and processes for reaching thousands more students each year.

This is a versatile role with responsibilities ranging from database management to setting up online events and communicating with service users, schools and tutoring staff. Working within a small administration team, you will be proficient at using a range of tools such as spreadsheets, meeting platforms and scheduling software, and will be willing to learn new ways of working. We are looking for someone who can remain focused under pressure, using their initiative to deal proactively with a range of tasks and to prioritise the competing demands of a busy workload. 

Hours

This is a flexible and fully remote role, and you will have significant autonomy in how you structure your working week. 

As part of your contracted hours, you will be required to work some evenings and weekends, but this will not exceed one day a week in total. There will also be periods when there is a higher workload (e.g., during student recruitment periods), so you may be required to offer some flexibility in working longer (and then shorter) hours week to week. We are happy to discuss how the hours and role might work for you during the interview stage.
 

Key duties and responsibilities 

• Develop and maintain accurate, up-to-date spreadsheets relating to student rosters and learning data.

• Adopt data hygiene principles so that data is managed smartly, in accordance with our data privacy policy.

• Lead on event creation, which primarily concerns the hundreds of weekly tutorials we run each week, but also extends to other activities such as student admissions, end of term testing and public webinars.

• Help to manage a high-volume inbox, responding to daily emails and triaging across the team by assigning correct levels of priority to each correspondence.

• Support the onboarding of new tutors (e.g. overseeing DBS checks, approving invoices) and take the lead on finding cover when gaps appear in our tutoring schedule.

• Liaise with prospective schools and students and undertake key data gathering activities to identify the most suitable candidates for our programmes.

• Support in developing and updating key policies and procedures. 

• Support with general administrative tasks.

Other duties:

• The post-holder will also be expected to undertake any other tasks commensurate with the role and which may be reasonably required. 

Requirements

Skills 

• Proficient in working with digital tools and software such as Google Sheets, Docs, Forms, Zoom and Trello (and able to learn new tools very quickly).

• Excellent with spreadsheets and data - you know your vlookups from your pivot tables 

• Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to connect effectively with a diverse set of stakeholders, with a professional and sensitive approach. 

• Strong judgement: can be relied upon to implement agreed processes but also shows initiative to suggest improvements to how we work.

• Proven experience of working in a team, demonstrable ability to operate in a flexible working environment and to take initiative. 

• Ability to understand, interpret, and apply existing documentation with a fast-moving environment. 

• Excellent independent time management and organizational skills.

• The ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity related to all aspects of information disseminated within the organisation.

Education

• Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline

Professional Experience:

• Essential:  3 years + relevant experience managing data as part of an administrative role.

• Desirable:

• relevant experience in an education setting.

About the Role

Are you an experienced A level tutor? Can you support under-resourced young people to reach their full academic potential?

We are looking for passionate and qualified A level tutors to deliver high quality group tuition to our cohort of almost 1,000 students. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced tutors with a love of learning to help bright students overcome barriers to academic achievement. Tutorials are delivered online to groups of up to 4 students via our bespoke online learning platform.

Tutorials generally take place between the hours of 3pm and 8pm on weekday evenings, with flexibility around the schedules of our tutors and students.

Role Responsibilities

• Lead weekly hour-long tutorials with your tutor group(s), via The Access Project’s online learning platform 
• Responsively plan and deliver stimulating, high quality tuition in line with our Quality Assurance Framework
• Effectively monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback when requested
• Complete weekly attendance forms, supply monthly invoices, and complete other administrative duties as required
• Participate in our observation and feedback process, taking advantage of continuous professional development opportunities
• Follow The Access Project’s safeguarding policies, supporting the wellbeing of your students at all times

Person Specification

• At least two years A level teaching and/or tutoring experience 
• Positive, engaging and flexible teaching style
• Familiarity with and strong knowledge of relevant exam boards and specifications
• Evidence of ability to tutor one or more of the following subjects to A level standard: Chemistry, Maths and Physics
• Ability to commit to weekly hour-long tutorials at the same time each week over the academic year
• UK based, with the right to work in the UK

Merton Winter Night Shelter provides a much-needed emergency shelter for the homeless during the coldest winter months. We offer a warm, safe and respectful place, with a welcoming environment, providing hot food and professional support to those who would otherwise be on street. We offer an opportunity for guests to rest, recharge and be supported into a more sustainable and stable lifestyle. 

We are seeking a part time Project Assistant to work with the Project Coordinator, who leads the project on a permanent basis. Min 6hrs over 3 evenings per week and occasional management meetings outside of the shelter. This would be initially shadowing the Project Coordinator at the different shelter venues and then independently and unsupervised attending venues supporting venue convenors and their volunteers. The hours will include weekends and bank holidays.

Purpose of Job:

· Supporting the Project Coordinator in managing and coordinating the Night Shelter to ensure that all venues give a consistent service to all homeless persons accepted into the shelter, i.e., its guests.

· Standing in for the Project Coordinator in supporting shelter convenors and their volunteers on two evenings per week after initial induction.

· Assisting the Project Coordinator in providing advice and support to help each guest work through the challenges they are facing, recognising that homelessness is often a result of complex and multiple problems.

Responsibilities:

In close consultation with the Project Coordinator to:

· Liaise with the Host Venue Co-ordinators to ensure timely communication and information, particularly in maintaining the Shelter Log Book, to enable the smooth running of the shelter.

· Support guests who are using services for welfare, legal, debt, housing and other specialist issues, where necessary.

· Engage with vulnerable people in a sensitive, empathetic and professional manner.

· To assist in maintaining detailed case records ensuring all sensitive data is adequately protected and handled.

The role will be pivotal in supporting our friendly fundraising team in the effective use of Donorfy. 

The Centre has to raise circa £2.5m every year to support our work with young people, children and families facing homelessness.  Our CRM and its effective use is critical to building our knowledge and insight to grow this income.  It’s a critical role that will have real impact.
