Since the charity’s origins, Caring in Bristol has been powered by the input of hundreds of grass roots volunteers from around Bristol. People give their time and expertise to all our services in different ways, ranging from casual volunteering shifts to long term in-depth consultation about our work in their communities. This role will work across the organisation to build, strengthen, and sustain a strong team of volunteers and community participants to support our strategic priorities. 

The postholder will be responsible for leading on all aspects of our volunteering and community participation programme, including developing and implementing policies and procedures, managing the assigned budget, as well as recruitment, induction, training, support, engagement and retention of volunteers.

Our Volunteers 

We utilise volunteers and community participants across all areas of our work to support and enrich the work we deliver. It is important to understand the different sets of volunteers we work with: 

Winter – over 400 volunteers come together each winter to run our Caring at Christmas day centre and distribute food deliveries across the city. Caring at Christmas has a legacy of over 30 years and relies on a range of volunteers from highly experienced to completely new to the organisation. Additionally, during particularly cold weather, Caring in Bristol volunteers support emergency shelters in the evenings and mornings. 

Food clubs – a small but committed set of volunteers help deliver our Bristol Goods food support programme. We have a fantastic set of regular volunteers at our Hartcliffe and city-centre food clubs with plans for a new location soon. 

Youth services –our accommodation project launched in July 2024, providing four bedrooms for 18-25 year olds each night. Our youth team also run group sessions throughout the week. Volunteers are needed to provide invaluable support to these activities to ensure the young people feel welcome and comfortable. 

Co-Production and Consultation Participants – our committed group of community members are essential to shaping the way we work, taking their housing knowledge out in the wider community. They are often used as a focus group for housing/policy consultations, supported by our Outreach Worker. This work is established in South Bristol, and we are developing a similar group in North Bristol. 

Community Advocates – This is an exciting area of work we wish to develop and grow over the next year; training up community members on Housing Rights and routes for support, empowering them to share this knowledge, signposting those in need of support so to prevent homelessness. 

Fundraising & Office Volunteers – we often have tasks that volunteers can help with which help the “back office” of the charity. This could include helping to organise events, fundraising activities, stuffing mailing envelopes, stocktaking our food store or offering specialist skills /advice. 

Person Specification 

We expect you to meet most of these criteria. However, we don’t expect you to meet every point and welcome applicants with transferable skills and an ability to apply themselves in a new context. 

• Experience of recruitment or marketing opportunities in the charity sector

We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Data Quality Officer within our organisation. This position is pivotal in ensuring the accurate and timely generation of reports that provide insights into our therapy services' performance and impact. The Data Quality Officer, with support from the Operations Manager, will be responsible for developing and maintaining the organisation's data reporting processes from end to end, including gathering data, analysing trends, and presenting findings in a clear and compelling manner.

Working closely with various stakeholders, including management, external funders, staff and therapists, the Data Quality Officer will play a key role in translating data into actionable insights that drive decision-making and demonstrate the effectiveness of our therapy programmes and other services. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

A significant aspect of this role involves reporting to external funders, such as government agencies, foundations, and donors. You'll be responsible for compiling comprehensive reports that demonstrate the effectiveness of our programmes and ensure compliance with funder requirements and deadlines.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for data-driven decision-making and a commitment to ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our reporting processes. They will thrive in a fast-paced environment, where they can leverage their expertise to contribute to the overall success of our mission.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Programme Operations Manager is responsible for the operational delivery of our programmes being delivered to young people aged 8-19. This role ensures consistent, high-quality service provision through effective team leadership and comprehensive oversight of programme activities.

Key responsibilities include direct management of the youth work team and supervision of programme implementation to maintain service standards aligned with organisational values. The postholder ensures operational effectiveness through resource allocation, staff support, and robust quality assurance processes.

Working alongside the Programme Development Manager, this position translates organisational objectives into practical programme delivery through systematic implementation and monitoring. The role involves providing youth workers with appropriate resources and professional support to achieve optimal outcomes for young people.

The Programme Operations Manager contributes to organisational decision-making whilst maintaining hands-on programme management. This balance ensures service delivery meets established standards and regulatory requirements.

The position demands proven leadership capabilities, operational expertise, and commitment to youth development principles within our structured framework.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Quality Assurance and Standards Management

· Support the Programme Development Manager to develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive quality assurance frameworks for all youth programmes, ensuring consistent delivery of high standards across all activities.

· Establish quality indicators and performance metrics for programme delivery, conducting regular monitoring and evaluation to ensure continuous improvement.

· Design and implement quality audit procedures, conducting systematic reviews of programme delivery, facilities, and resource utilisation.

· Create and maintain quality documentation, including standard operating procedures, best practice guidelines, and compliance frameworks.

Youth Worker Team Management and Development

Programme Operations and Delivery Oversight

● Oversee day-to-day operational delivery of all youth programmes, ensuring smooth running of activities and services.

● Collaborate with the Engagement, Communities and Culture Manager to monitor programme attendance, engagement levels, and participant outcomes, implementing strategies to maximise positive impact.

● Collaborate with the Programme Development Manager to ensure all programmes operate within approved budgets, monitoring expenditure and resource utilisation.

● Coordinate programme scheduling, space allocation, and resource distribution to maximise efficiency and participant experience.

● Implement risk management procedures for all programme activities, always ensuring health and safety compliance.

● Collaborate with the Programme Development Manager to oversee marketing and recruitment activities for programmes, working with relevant teams to ensure optimal participation levels.

Safeguarding and Compliance

● Ensure that full compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures are adhered to.

● Implement comprehensive safeguarding training for all team members, maintaining records and ensuring regular updates.

● Manage safeguarding incidents and concerns.  In the absence of the Designated Safeguarding Leads liaise with external agencies including social services, police, and other statutory bodies.

● Monitor and maintain health and safety standards across all programme areas, conducting regular risk assessments and safety audits.

● Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, including data protection, health and safety, and equality requirements.

Data Management and Reporting

● Oversee collection, analysis, and reporting of programme data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with funder requirements.

● Contribute to the preparation of regular reports for leadership team, funders, and external stakeholders on programme performance and quality indicators.

● Maintain comprehensive records of all programme activities, participant outcomes, and quality assurance measures.

● Implement feedback mechanisms for participants, parents, and stakeholders, using insights to drive continuous improvement.

Partnership and Stakeholder Management

● Develop and maintain relationships with local schools, community organisations, and partner agencies.

● Represent the organisation at multi-agency meetings and sector networks, promoting collaborative approaches to youth work, as required.

● Coordinate with external providers delivering services within AYP premises, ensuring quality standards are maintained.

● Build positive relationships with parents and carers, maintaining regular communication about programme delivery and young people's progress.

The Advice Service is dedicated to enhancing income, alleviating poverty, and ensuring secure housing for community members throughout London. Our goal is to empower individuals by facilitating access to appropriate support through a strength-based and person-centered approach. As an integral part of the London Irish Centre's Community services, the Advice Service collaborates with our Support Service, Legal Advocate (benefit appeals), Community Programmes (responsible for events and activities), and our specialized Survivor Integrated Service. Your role is to manage a range of Central Services for the Eikon Charity and to be a familiar constant presence in the Eikon offices. Central Services includes IT, Data Compliance, Health and Safety, Facilities. Facilities includes the site at Fullbrook and the associated site maintenance of the cabins and the garden. In addition to this you will line manage the reception function on site. A portion of the role will be managing outsourced providers who are accountable to support the specialist nature of these services. These outsource providers include Health and Safety (Croner) IT (ramsac) Data Protection (Satswana). You will also support the service data management work, this involves monthly reporting and service data provision, in accordance with the reporting calendar.

Responsibilities 

IT Management

• Manage the operational IT delivery via Eikon’s IT partner (ramsac) 
• Manage the continuous improvement of the IT infrastructure
• Oversee and direct the work and tasks of the data officer (IT support)
• Attend quarterly management meetings with outsourced IT provider including technical IT consultant visits
• Oversee Help Desk approvals
• Review monthly total IT estate in partnership with ramsac and Data Officer
• IT hardware, software and comms:
• Manage the relationship with repair partner (one touch) and disposal partner (CPR)

BUBIC (Bringing Unity Back Into the Community) is an award winning, peer-led substance misuse service supporting individuals affected by drug and alcohol dependency. Our mission is to empower people through community engagement, harm reduction strategies, and accessible support services. Main Purpose of the Role:

To lead the effective and high-quality delivery of peer-led support for individuals on their recovery journey across the Borough of Haringey. This role will require dynamic, hands-on management of BUBIC’s team, encompassing staff, peer mentors, and volunteers, to meet key performance indicators and community needs.

About The Role

St Mungo’ s Hackney Move On service provides semi-independent accommodation consisting of 39 bed spaces split between 7 shared properties to people exiting short stay/long term hostel/supported housing provisions in preparation for independent general needs accommodation. Clients accessing our services have all experienced homelessness, may be in recovery for substance or alcohol use or an addressed mental health need or are currently positively engaged with external services around any identified needs.

Our team is looking for a Housing and Lettings Worker who will play a key role in providing a welcoming, safe and supportive environment while providing housing and tenancy related management support to clients at the service. You will be responsible for the quick turn-around of bed space voids and supporting new/current clients with benefits claims, accessing relevant health care and treatment appointments and signposting to other relevant support services. Additional responsibilities will include:

• Working as part of a team in to ensure that a person-centred approach is taken when working with clients
• Advice and assistance to clients in relation to fulfilling tenancy conditions
• Advice and assistance to clients to identify and access move-on options
• Taking the lead on the process of clearing rooms when residents leave, deal with housing management and maintenance issues across our 7 sites and support the day to day running of the office and other communal areas.

Hackney Move On is staffed on a rota basis between the hours of 9am–9pm, including weekends and Bank Holidays and includes periods of lone working.

About you

This role will suit people with some experience of housing or property management, experience of providing excellent service and managing complex and difficult situations in relation to people. You should also have:

• Good communication skills and the ability to work with others whilst managing your own time.
• A non-judgemental approach to working with homeless people and an understanding of the needs and support requirements of vulnerable clients on low (or no) incomes; including those with mental health and/or substance dependency problems.
• Ability to learn internal systems, processes and IT applications to manage compliance within the service.
• Good organizational and time management skills.

Fauna & Flora is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Programme Assistant to deliver effective support to the Conservation Capacity & Leadership team. The successful candidate will assist the Director and Conservation Capacity & Leadership team members in delivering the programme’s targets, through administration, basic finance and logistical support, disseminating learning, and communications. The role will in particular support Fauna & Flora’s conservation leadership, partner support, and professional development initiatives.

You will have relevant experience in an administrative role, with excellent numeracy, organisational and time management skills and a structured and methodical approach to work. Your excellent interpersonal skills will enable you to build effective working relationships with colleagues. You will be a self-motivated team player and enjoy working in a dynamic environment where the ability to respond swiftly to changing organisational and team needs is paramount. With excellent communication skills, you will have a proven ability to communicate with a range of audiences. Fluency in English is essential.

Our Campaigns and Communications Manager will play a key role in identifying strategic opportunities to make change through empowering and engaging our clients and local network, building and communicating a strong case for change. You will also play an important leadership role within LRMN, sitting on the management team.

Key responisibilties include:

• Leading the development and delivery of media, communications and campaign strategies and activities within LRMN to establish and maintain a consistently high and positive media profile.
• Working closely with LRMN’s Fundraising team in producing core messages and other relevant documents to support LRMN’s fundraising strategy and activities.
• Enhancing visibility and reputation to attract funding, future staff and policy changes.

• Developing a core set of impact evidence and relevant marketing materials that will promote the work of LRMN, show its success and the experience of refugees, asylum seekers and migrants.
• Ensuring engagement of clients in influencing local and national campaigns with their lived experience.
• Provide strategic lead on LRMN’s Borough of Sanctuary campaign, in Lewisham, Greenwich, and beyond, and other local and national campaigns.
• Developing strategic partnerships with key local, regional, and national partners in shaping and promoting campaigns most relevant to LRMN’s client base.

About the role

We’re looking for a passionate and driven Service Manager to lead our team at Birkenhead Street, a 31-bed hostel in Camden offering 24-hour supported accommodation to single adults. This is a unique opportunity to shape a service that puts people first, working in a trauma-informed and person-centred way.

What You’ll Be Doing

As Service Manager, you’ll be at the heart of the service, responsible for both strategic development and day-to-day operations. You’ll lead, motivate and support a dedicated team including a Deputy Manager, Project Workers, Duty and Night Staff, Cleaners, and locums. In addition to:

• Manage the service rota and ensure smooth operational delivery.
• Build strong partnerships with external agencies to enhance outcomes for residents.
• Champion inclusive support, including working closely with the Women’s Safe Space to address the specific needs of female residents.
• Ensure the service meets contractual obligations and reflects best practice.
• Continuously review and improve service delivery in line with St Mungo’s policies.
• Support residents with high-quality, strengths-based care and advice tailored to their goals.
• Monitor budgets and provide insightful reports using both quantitative and qualitative data.

You’ll be part of Marie Curie’s England Policy and Public Affairs team, working closely with colleagues across our research, caring services, and innovation teams. We work collaboratively with the Ambitions Partnership - a coalition of 35 national organisations - to drive meaningful change in policy and practice for palliative and end-of-life care. Our work is underpinned by evidence, lived experience, and a commitment to tackling inequities in care.

This is your opportunity to design and manage the delivery of a new and exciting programme of work for the Ambitions National Partnership for Palliative Care and End of Life Care, working with senior NHS and statutory and voluntary sector partners. You’ll also lead an innovative Marie Curie pilot focusing on working through primary care to improve end of life care in care homes. Your expertise and evidence-led approach will help shape decisions at local, regional, and national levels - creating a more equitable system for those at the end of life.

You will be responsible for: 

• Leading delivery of the Ambitions Partnership’s new work programme - setting clear outcomes, managing budgets, and keeping activities on track.
• Developing partnerships across the health and care system, fostering collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Enabling evidence-sharing by producing high-quality reports, briefings, and resources for policy and practice audiences.
• Managing the care homes innovation programme, ensuring learning is shared nationwide and translated into practical change.
• Designing and delivering engagement activities including workshops, seminars, and events to support policy and practice impact.

Key Criteria:

• Proven experience in designing and managing impactful programmes for policy and practice change.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex evidence clearly to different audiences.
• Demonstrable success in managing collaborative relationships with a diverse range of partners.
• Ability to analyse and use research evidence to influence policy and practice.
• Expertise in at least one of: palliative and end-of-life care, social care, or health from research and/or practice work.
• Knowledge of how the health and care system works, and routes to achieving change at all levels.

The Bury Intensive Support Service has been developed to provide a bespoke supported living service for adults over the age of 18, with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health and complex needs. The adults accepted into the service have been identified through the Transforming Care Agenda.

This service operates 24/7, using a trauma-informed and case-management model of care, to provide support and opportunities for increased independence for three adults. We have developed a new and exciting role of Support Coordinator to provide operational leadership of the service in a sensitive and dynamic way. 

Staff members recruited will initially be required to work between our Registered Office, the service, and current care provision to ensure our service users experience a well-planned transition into their new home.

In this role, you will provide scientific support across science engagement project development, delivery and wider RMetS team operations. Reporting to the Head of Publishing and Scientific Engagement, you will have responsibility for developing training materials and co-delivering sessions for our climate change communication training, and you will deliver RMetS early career initiatives such as our career events. You will also create engaging content for various RMetS activities and stakeholders, and work with the media to enhance public awareness of weather and climate.

What you will do in the role:

• Develop training materials and co-deliver sessions for our RMetS training programme, including climate change communication training.

Essential criteria you will need to demonstrate:

• A background in weather and climate, either through: a degree in a scientific field relevant to weather and climate; OR a Master’s degree within a scientific field relevant to weather and climate, with a minimum of three subsequent years working in industry.
• Extensive knowledge across weather and climate, and evidence of involvement in activities to ensure ongoing current knowledge across diverse areas.
• Experience in communicating scientific concepts and information to a different range of stakeholders (for example policy makers, the wider scientific and social science community, or the general public).
• A friendly and open-minded approach, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a small team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to prepare documentation for outside stakeholders and willing to communicate with the media.
• A people person who has the confidence to proactively reach out to and communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Excellent organisational skills including the ability to manage time effectively, balance multiple projects with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to think creatively, be innovative and embrace new ideas and ways of working.

Desirable skills

• One years work experience post degree, or evidence of work experience/secondment.
