About the role
Are you an experienced corporate fundraiser with an interest in working in the international development sector? Are you creative, strategic, highly organised, a confident and effective communicator and strong team player?
We are looking for an experienced Senior Corporate Fundraising Manager to work closely with the Head of Programme Funding to drive new donor engagement and secure sustainable, multi-year funding. If you are seeking a dynamic and engaging fundraising role which offers you the chance to play a pivotal role within a small but ambitious organisation, then this could be the job for you.
You will be an exemplary relationship builder and have experience in developing multi-faceted corporate partnerships (ideally with experience and success in employee engagement, corporate sponsorship, and/or operational partnerships).
The role also line manages the Senior Fundraising Officer post, a position that provides administrative and fundraising support across the whole fundraising team. Please note that we are a small team and so you’ll need to be comfortable rolling up your sleeves to help out team members and to support new business across other restricted income streams.
If you think you have the skills, qualities and drive to fulfil this role, but don’t meet all of the specifications, or perhaps you’ve gained your experience in (for example) commercial sales or within relationships management and are looking to move into development work, we would still welcome hearing from you. ROLE DETAILS
Standing Voice is looking for an experienced Fundraising Manager based in or near London to join our UK team. This is an exciting and challenging role in a creative and focused working environment, within an organisation with multiple programmes and funding streams across 3 countries. This position suits an ambitious and experienced fundraiser, equipped with excellent written and oral communication skills and a depth of donor management experience.
The successful candidate will report to the Executive Director and be tasked with advancing & implementing Standing Voice’s Fundraising Strategy including writing grants proposals; diversifying & scaling-up the organisation’s income streams; and managing donor relations and reporting. As well as working alongside UK fundraising, programmes and finance colleagues, the Fundraising Manager will work directly with our teams in Tanzania and Malawi to design and generate project proposals.
Suitable candidates will demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills; a high level of organisation and accuracy in their work; and concrete experience of generating income through trusts and foundations, corporate partnerships, institutional donors, philanthropy partnerships, and individual giving. About the role
A key member of WVUK’s Humanitarian & International Programmes (HIP) management team, you’ll lead the unit that’s responsible for acquiring around £35m of institutional donor funding (grants & contracts) each year, as well as corporate and philanthropic proposal development on behalf of the Strategic Partnership Directorate. Defining and ensuring a consistent approach to delivering quality and timely submissions that are coordinated and informed with input from all relevant stakeholders will be important too, as will ensuring the available capacity and capability of a team to lead submission development. Line managing and developing unit members, providing strong proactive support to other HIP unit managers and playing your part in developing and delivering HIP team plans – all are aspects of this high-profile role.
About you
To succeed, you’ll need proven experience of developing and maintaining relations with institutional donors, analysing their funding requirements and shifting worldviews (particularly DFID/FCDO, EU/ECHO), and working with, managing, and developing relationships with consortium partners. You’ll also need field experience of working in different cultures and religious contexts. Proactive and creative in improving existing processes and developing new ones to improve efficiency and effectiveness, you’re adept at knowledge management within a demanding team environment and used to line managing and training, mentoring or capacity building a team.
You’re an excellent project manager too - someone who’s comfortable working on complex multiple tasks and prioritising to meet deadlines. Expertise in a specific technical area - e.g., child protection, health, nutrition, livelihoods, social accountability, resilience or economic development, would also be useful, as would working knowledge of a second language. More important however, is a general awareness of Christian teaching to appreciate the Christian ethos of WVUK and live their values. In 2013, Upbeat Communities launched Derby Language School (DLS) which is a social enterprise that provides language courses to individuals and organisations in the East Midlands. Alongside generating considerable income for the charity through its private and corporate classes it also provides quality language training for many refugees through contracts with councils.
In 2021, Upbeat Clean was started in response to significant challenges that refugee women have in finding employment to support their families. Upbeat Clean’s 5-year goal is to be able to offer a Real Living Wage job to every refugee woman who needs one in Derby. Upbeat Clean is fast becoming the most talked about commercial cleaning business in Derby with contracts at key venues like Derby Museums, Getinge, Vaillant, Quad, Deda and large offices across the city.
The two social enterprises (DLS and Upbeat Clean) have grown substantially over the last two years with a combined expected turnover of around £700,000 in 2024/25 and more rapid growth ahead. We have over 30 employed cleaners and 20 freelance teachers and interpreters, with over 40 corporate contracts and 100 private clients.
Main duties and responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs Accounts Payable function; processes transactions in the accounting system and maintains accounts payable files for vendors. Primary point of contact for questions and assistance regarding entry and payment of invoices.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
· Subject matter expert on Unit 4 ERP System Vendor Master File and accounts payable, provide support to other Internews staff also entering invoices.

· Review and research open payables to resolve outstanding issues prior to payment.
· Process recurring remittances according to corporate schedule, including payment of invoices entered by others.

· Organize and maintain A/P files.
· Research vendor payment history in response to queries from Internews staff and others.

Who you are:

An experienced professional with an in-depth understanding of and subject matter expertise on working with businesses on responsible recruitment, ethical labour practices and modern slavery, and significant experience in business engagement/developing and managing senior management corporate sponsor relations (min. 5 years’ experience).

The ideal candidate should have experience in a business development role, a track record in building and developing business relations, and strong experience of giving presentations, delivering pitches and closing deals.

Experienced in maintaining and developing corporate sponsor relations including writing client and grant proposals.

- Act as liaison and first point of contact for commercial enquiries into the NFCC and dealing with them as appropriate. Enquiries may be from within the organisation, other fire and rescue services or elsewhere.
- To create and assist in the drafting of timely and well-informed reports, business cases and provide advice regarding commercial developments.
- Develop an effective network with Fire and Rescue Service sector groups and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Establish and maintain management processes and systems that provide for clear and understandable management information.

- Support the project design process
- Work with country finance teams to build and review project budgets that reflect the technical design
- Negotiate WaterAid's scope of work and budget with external partners

- Design and deliver training to strengthen capacity of colleagues in Country Programmes and regional teams in proposal development
About You:
- Experience developing winning proposals to a range of institutional and non-institutional funders, ideally for development projects in low-income countries

- Experience analysing financial data and developing proposal budgets
