To deliver our vision we need to work with others to change how land is managed. This includes ensuring farmers, foresters and other land managers have the right balance of support (financial and other) to enable them to deliver for nature in addition to providing food, other commodities and environmental goods and services. It’s also vital we engage wider society to support these changes and make nature/environmentally friendly choices in the way they eat and live.

We are looking for a Policy Officer to join our Wales Land and Sea Policy and Advocacy Team to develop and advocate RSPB Cymru policy positions and proposals on sustainable farming and land management, including the effective use of nature-based solutions. You will work with a range of stakeholders and advocates, particularly farmers, foresters, other land managers, and their representatives, environmental NGOs, statutory bodies and businesses to build, shape and advocate to the Welsh Government and the Senedd, to change the way we manage land to help save nature in Wales.

Key deliverables include:

• Developing policy positions in relation to:
  • Future agriculture and sustainable land management in Wales, including influencing the design and delivery of Wales’ new Sustainable Farming Scheme.
  • Land use/management’s response to climate change including peatland restoration and the use of nature-based solutions.
  • Fresh water, in particular the impact of land use/management on water quality.
• Working with colleagues across the RSPB, and where appropriate, with other NGOs, to ensure key messages and policy positions are aligned.
• Working closely with sustainable farming and land management advocates, such as the Nature Friendly Farming Network, to develop a strong movement for change
• Working closely with staff delivering ‘on the ground’ activities, such as project and reserves teams, and farm advisors, to help showcase best practice and develop “learning” for future policy and advocacy.
• Working closely with staff delivering communications and public engagement to build public and political support for our land use and management policy priorities.
• Increasing public awareness about the connection between land use/management, farming, food and the dual nature and climate emergency.

We are looking for a professional, persuasive and engaging individual with an excellent understanding of current agricultural and land use policy as tools to ensure outcomes for nature, and credibility within relevant stakeholder communities. They should have the skills and personality to be able to bring together dynamic coalitions of interested stakeholders to build, shape and advocate for new policies to secure sustainable land management that is good for people and good for nature.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• Experience of working in a policy or advocacy role to influence the development of government policy.
• Experience of advocating policy effectively to external audiences (including government, relevant businesses, NGOs) to further specific policy and advocacy objectives.
• Knowledge of biodiversity and climate policy and policy drivers at international, EU, UK and Wales level
• Knowledge of EU, UK and Wales institutions relevant to the role
• Ability to monitor external policy developments and horizon scan for relevant issues and opportunities
• Excellent understanding of agriculture and related land use, nature and climate policy and policy drivers in a European, UK and specifically Wales context.
• Ability to write reports, consultation responses and concise policy briefings to support advocacy efforts.
• Excellent communication, writing and negotiation skills.
• Ability to develop policy positions and to communicate effectively to a range of audiences, including politicians, farmers and other land managers and the public.
• Ability to communicate complex ideas and proposals to a variety of audiences in a concise and clear way
• Ability to work as part of a team to deliver a project and achieve shared objectives and outcomes.
• Experience of working with others to develop and deliver a shared vision or set of proposals
• Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with external stakeholders
• Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable skills:

• The ability to communicate in Welsh (written and spoken).

Additional Information:

• This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week.
• The post holder will be working within the RSPB Cymru Policy and Advocacy Team.
• This position will be home based, within Wales (or close to for commuting) e.g. Bristol, Chester, Hereford, Shrewsbury etc.
• The role requires regular travel within Wales for site/farm visits, policy events and advocacy, and Team meetings.

Tyndale House is a renowned institute for biblical studies and possesses one of the finest libraries for biblical research in the world. The Supporter Engagement Officer will play a key role in engaging, involving and inspiring all supporters of Tyndale House through building excellent relationships via a variety of communication channels. One of our ambitious plans for 2024 and beyond includes a capital campaign to rebuild our 1960s library into a state-of-the-art facility. We are looking for people to work with us to make this vision a reality.

The successful candidate will be integral to achieving our strategic priorities of generating income through repeat support, and providing exceptional journeys for our community of supporters, ensuring they feel valued and engaged. The role will provide strategic support to the Director of Engagement and work with the communications and development team to ensure that our outputs are cohesive and coherent.

As the Trusts and Foundations Fundraising Officer, you will be responsible for maximising income from Trusts and Foundations in order to support SHP’s charitable activities. Working closely with the Head of Fundraising and alongside the fundraising team, you will contribute towards the delivery of achieving SHP's overarching vision of a society where everyone has a place to call home and the chance to live a fulfilling life.

In your role, you will be responsible for building and delivering a successful Trusts and Foundations portfolio by focusing on:

About the role:

This fundraiser will work closely with the Heads of Departments and academics in the Departments of Psychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences. The post will focus primarily on funding for research, academic posts, scholarships and infrastructure related to Neuroscience which includes Mental Health and neurological disease (e.g. Motor Neurone Disease, Dementia, Parkinson’s, Stroke and Epilepsy). The fundraiser will work on special projects including the possible major capital redevelopment of the Warneford site. While an interest in medical research and neuroscience is essential, you do not need to be a sciences graduate, just an enthusiast for knowledge.

Planning and designing realignment in front of future sea-level rise makes sense, but opportunities are limited. This post will help The Trusts identify those opportunities and coordinate funding and licensing to ensure that realignment works both for those communities affected and helps to restore their wonderful coastal wildlife. 

You will have a detailed understanding of coastal processes, including relevant nature conservation issues. You will need to enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, be organised and resourceful and have meticulous attention for written detail as well as a passion for their cause. The End Violence Against Women Coalition (EVAW) is looking for a Public Affairs Officer to help drive forward our campaigning to end violence against women in all its forms.

The last few years have seen a huge increase in awareness of violence against women and girls, and support for our work. With this crucial human rights issue on the public and political agenda like never before, now is the time to disrupt the status quo and lay the foundations for a different world. 

ABOUT THE ROLE

EVAW’s public affairs officer will help persuade policy makers and stakeholders to prioritise tackling violence against women and girls (VAWG) and develop policy and practice that is effective, inclusive and rooted in equalities and human rights.

Typical tasks for this job might include reviewing and synthesising political speeches and debates, drafting briefings for MPs and other stakeholders and supporting with the organisation of stakeholder events such as parliamentary and party conference meetings.  

Candidates are likely to have some experience in public affairs or policy work on VAWG or a related field connected to social justice, human rights and equalities.  and will be seeking an opportunity to work in a highly impactful, agile and dynamic feminist organisation.

A background in VAWG will of course be an asset, but regardless you’ll need to show us you can keep abreast of key political developments, identify challenges and opportunities to pursue an organisation’s aims, and work to influence key decision-makers in a given field. Main Responsibilities 
•     Lead and develop the Trust’s fundraising, overseeing development of prospect pipelines and growing income year on year from membership, major donors, individual giving, legacies, corporate partnerships, grants and charitable trusts, ensuring that the Trust achieves its restricted and unrestricted income targets 

•     Inspire funding support for the Trust’s work through relationship-based fundraising with major donors, corporates and grant-making bodies 

•     Enable delivery colleagues to secure funding for their work, supporting the development of fundable projects and high quality bids and securing continuation funding 

•     Stimulate growth in individual giving from members and non-members through the development and implementation of an ambitious plan incorporating supporter development, recruitment and retention. 

•     Ensure fundraising systems are working effectively and all activity is compliant with the Trust’s policies, fundraising guidelines from regulators, and all relevant legislation, including Data Protection and Health and Safety. 

•     Manage an integrated functional team across fundraising, contribute to the direction and development of the Trust as a member of the leadership team and undertake other duties in line with the role as requested

Role Summary

This position provides key support for the policy and research functions of the charity, in addition to collaborating on campaigns and public affairs work. You will be responsible for carrying out primary research relevant to the charity’s policy and research functions. You’ll be monitoring and collating new policy and research materials and contributing to public communications including report-writing, blog posts and social media activity. You’ll be providing input into strategic planning regarding policy and research activities. You’ll connect with researchers and policy people from other charities and from universities. Finally, you’ll be attending conferences and meetings on behalf of the charity.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Policy

• Support the P&RM, DR&PA and CEO in responding to public consultations, advising policymakers and working with national policy and research bodies as appropriate.

• Represent the charity in meetings with policy partners where appropriate.

• Attend policy and research conferences on behalf of the charity, providing feedback to the team on key learning and opportunities that arise.

• Work with the SC&PA and DR&PA to draw up influencing strategies to target key stakeholders on policy priorities.

• Monitor external research that helps our policy work and opportunities for collaboration.

• Work with the SC&PA  to engage campaigners in our policy work.

Research

• Work with the P&RM to carry out research activities relevant to the policy and research functions of the charity; including collating and analysing data, and co-authoring reports for both internal and public purposes.

• Work with the P&RM and the Communications and Marketing teams to produce engaging and accessible communication of research findings for a range of audiences. 

• Monitor and collate new policy and research materials, including research reports, policy documents and media activity. Work with the P&RM to produce internal reports where appropriate and to ensure the charity’s activities reflect and respond to the wider policy and research environment.

• Work with the P&RM on external research projects funded by the charity, including support with assessing the quality of bids by external researchers. 

Across both areas

• Produce social media communications where relevant to policy and research. Work with colleagues across the Research and Public Affairs and Communications and Marketing teams to develop strategies for maximising impact, especially in digital communications.

• Contribute to strategic planning by contributing to staff meetings, producing supporting materials and providing feedback on public affairs.

The postholder will also be expected to:

• attend training courses and develop skills as required, sharing learning with other staff as relevant

• in unusual circumstances, work weekend and / or evening hours, for which time in lieu will be given

• undertake other reasonable work as requested by the P&RM.
