We are looking for a high-calibre candidate to take up a fixed-term, maternity cover role as Centre Leader at our IntoUniversity centre in Brixton. You will have responsibility for running your IntoUniversity centre, including managing your team, planning and delivering the programme, liaising with external stakeholders and meeting IntoUniversity’s targets for delivery. A substantial element of this role is delivering our education programme to children and young people aged 7-18, so you will need to have a genuine passion and enthusiasm for working with young people, including leading a class of 30 from the front, working with small teams of children and providing one-to-one support.

About this key role
As a valued and integral part of the Fundraising and Communications team, our successful candidate will lead a small sub-team to generate at least £500,000 income each year, including the direct line management of a Senior Fundraising Officer, who you will support to line manage the Fundraising Assistant. We will count on you to implement effective processes and procedures across the Fundraising and collaborating teams, manage and refine processes for recordkeeping and devise, maintain and update our Fundraising Handbook.
You will also be expected to manage the development and implementation of our Individual Giving Strategy and our Individual Giving income stream through single and regular giving appeals, as well as managing a portfolio of challenge events nationally that provides excellent stewardship for a range of participants. Developing and designing high-quality applications, presentations, and pitches to secure five-, six- and seven figure funding opportunities from Trusts & Foundations, Corporates and High Net Worth Individuals is a key element of this role, as is providing excellent stewardship to existing donors.

About the National Suicide Prevention Alliance (NSPA)
The NSPA network has grown significantly since 2020. The number of organisations working with us has almost doubled and individual membership has increased four-fold. Whilst those running suicide prevention programmes are a significant proportion of our membership, a growing number are those whose core business is not suicide prevention but who recognise the need to take action and are seeking support to do so.
There are more organisations than ever working to prevent suicide and it can be difficult to navigate the wealth of information available and connect with organisations that may be undertaking similar/ relevant work. Some may be unaware of or find it difficult to access evidence around what works, what is already happening and what can be built upon.

Your Role
You’ll lead the development and delivery of a suicide prevention community engagement strategy and plan, including an online hub and ambassador initiative to support capacity building in suicide prevention across England. You will:
• Develop a more strategic approach to our engagement with members
• Support the next step in the development of our network by building an online community hub, to support on-going knowledge-sharing, community connection and depth of engagement with our wide range of members.

We are a small and agile campaigning organisation on a mission to rescue Britain’s rivers from a toxic cocktail of agricultural, sewage and industrial pollution. We support community action, galvanise and mobilise public opinion, influence government policy, and call out destructive industrial practices to incentivise changes that end pollution.

For this role we are looking for a confident and resilient community organiser who can build strong relationships to support communities to create change locally.
What you’ll be doing:
The Communities Coordinator will support community groups to campaign for clean rivers at a local level. By facilitating grass roots action you’ll be galvanising a strong and powerful network of community activists that have the power to create change both locally and nationally. You’ll be responsible for taking River Action’s national campaign strategy to a local level. You’ll work closely with the Campaigns Manager and the wider team to develop a Community Toolkit (including advice for activists, and guidance and services for communications, fundraising, legal support and citizen science projects) to support communities as well as provide strategic support to empower community activists to campaign for clean rivers. You’ll work closely with the Campaigns Manager and wider team to amplify the stories of those taking action at a local level and connect campaign groups to the wider national agenda. You’ll be working collaboratively with the River Action team to devise, develop and deliver our strategy ensuring our programme of community engagement is equitable, diverse and inclusive. You’ll be working closely with other organisations to ensure our community support compliments the work of others and meets the needs of community groups we work with.
Main Duties

Contribute to the development and implementation of River Action’s campaign strategy.

Develop River Action’s Community Toolkit as a package of support for local campaign groups.

Identify community groups within river catchments areas River Action is working and build positive and impactful relationships..

Organise site visits to develop good relationships and in-depth understanding of local issues impacting river health.

Convene and align local stakeholders around river catchment and regional campaigns.

Facilitate local community groups’ campaigns and provide support in line with our toolkit’s support package.

Facilitate the creation of community group citizen science projects, integrated within a national system for gathering and sharing evidence of pollution.

Organise community crowdfunding for citizen science and communications.

Plan and host webinars, training sessions and online and in person events.

Develop good working relationships with regulators including Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales and Scottish Environment and Protection Agency.

As Assistant Director Activism & Advocacy, you will provide strategic direction to the heads of Digital campaigning, Community Organising, Policy, Research, and Public Affairs teams.
You'll support the development of high-profile campaigns and drive continual improvement to achieve Shelter's strategic goals.
This role involves building strong relationships across Shelter, promoting collaboration, and acting as a spokesperson when required.
You'll need excellent political instincts, campaign experience, and the ability to oversee the production of high-quality policy and research.

Senior Media and Campaign Manager
Contract: Fixed term contract for approximately seven months maternity leave cover. With either part time of 4 days (28 hours) per week or full time (35 hours per week) options available.
Ideal start date: 24 June 2024 to provide up to two weeks hand over with the current post holder.
Location: Hospice House, Britannia Street, London, WC1X 9JG. This role is eligible for the Hospice UK Hybrid Working Arrangement from the start of employment, with around once a week as a minimum in the office.
Starting salary: £43,646 per annum FTE

Charity People is delighted to be partnering with Hospice UK to recruit a Senior Media and Campaign Manager to help shape the UK's conversation about hospice and end of life care, death and grief. Through strategic, savvy and nimble media relations work, and through contributing to wider mobilisation of and engagement with public and political audiences, you will help to change public perceptions, political agendas, and policy priorities.
Hospice UK is the national charity for hospice and end of life care, working to ensure everyone affected by death, dying and bereavement gets the care and support they need, when they need it. Their mission is to transform the way society cares for the dying and those around them. To empower individuals, communities and populations to embrace the ethos of hospice care and extend its breadth and reach to improve everyone's experience of death, dying and bereavement.
Key responsibilities within the Senior Media and Campaign Manager role will include:
- Devise and deliver an ambitious media strategy to consistently secure top tier coverage which advances Hospice UK's strategic aims in line with their influencing objectives.
- Identify and produce engaging stories, nimbly working with research, data, people's stories and leading complex negotiations with colleagues from across Hospice UK to do so.
- Independently lead complex and sometimes risky negotiations with influential journalists.
- Lead relationships with colleagues to drive forward changes in healthcare policy through briefing journalists, placing opinion pieces, and securing news and features coverage for Hospice UK's research and calls for change.
- Work closely with storytellers to ensure that people's lived experience of death and grief is reflected in the national media, driven by an active, daily commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Take an active role in reputation management for Hospice UK and develop and maintain their public position statements for key topics to support consistency of message.
- Advise on public campaign strategy and content while leading the representation of the charity's policy and political work to secure maximum impact across their digital channels.
- Develop audience-led channel content strategies to engage and keep informed the charity's membership and professional audiences and spot potential opportunities for public mobilisation work.
- Manage constructive and strategic relationships with journalists across the national media, placing stories regularly and briefing them on the latest developments.
- Build warm, collaborative and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Oversee and improve operations of the press office function including running core services such as media monitoring.
- Develop and deliver a high-quality media measurement framework that captures the impact of Hospice UK's work.
- Line manage and develop the Senior Media and Communications Officer
- Support staff who are conducting media interviews and develop their confidence in the media to give succinct and engaging lines to journalists.
Hospice UK are looking for someone who is collaborative, has superb news judgement and who is able to pivot quickly from project to project and story to story. You'll need a softness of touch when working with storytellers and hospice colleagues, and the patience and pragmatism to work with internal and external colleagues. You'll need to be decisive, and able to explain complex decisions to journalists and senior management. As well as strong media relations skills, we're looking for someone with a wider understanding of the full communications and marketing mix, and who will have some oversight and strategic control of the charity's digital channels.

- Significant experience in a Media/PR professional role with Exceptional writing skills
- Ability to contribute creative ideas to generate content for news and features stories
- Experience of developing media strategies that deliver exceptional news and features coverage
- Demonstrable experience of developing media relationships and partnerships and outstanding interpersonal skills, including the ability to negotiate on challenging stories with senior journalists
- Understanding of how 'traditional media' interfaces with multi-channel integrated campaigning, and a strong eye for effective and engaging digital content
- Experience of reputation management
