Salary: £30,000–£33,500 per annum, depending on experience

Hours: 37 hours per week, including some evening and weekend working

Contract: Permanent

Location: Hybrid, with extensive travel across Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Norfolk

We are looking for an enthusiastic and engaging Community Engagement Lead to increase awareness of unpaid carers, promote the support available through Caring Together Charity and develop strong relationships across the healthcare, community, business and voluntary sectors.

About Caring Together

For over 40 years, Caring Together Charity has been supporting families who are living with an illness or disability.

Our vision is a world with no unpaid carer in crisis, isolated or struggling alone. Three in five of us will become a carer at some point in our lives, and we are here to provide emotional and practical support and advice to unpaid carers of all ages and their families.

About the role

As our Community Engagement Lead, you will be an ambassador for Caring Together Charity across Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Norfolk.

You will build meaningful partnerships with healthcare professionals, community and voluntary organisations, local authorities, schools, faith groups and businesses. Through presentations, workshops, networking and community events, you will help more people recognise unpaid carers and understand how our services can support them.

You will also identify opportunities to reach underserved communities, support community fundraising and gather stories and insights that demonstrate the impact of our work.

This is a varied, outward-facing role requiring regular travel and some evening and weekend work. You will have the freedom to manage your own workload, develop new relationships and shape an annual programme of community outreach activity.

What you’ll do

You will:

• Build and maintain relationships with GP practices, Primary Care Networks, pharmacies, hospitals, social prescribing teams and other healthcare professionals.

• Develop partnerships with community groups, voluntary organisations, local authorities, schools, faith groups and businesses.

• Represent Caring Together Charity at networking forums, community events, conferences, county shows and health and wellbeing fairs.

• Prepare and deliver engaging presentations, talks, workshops and training sessions.

• Plan and co-ordinate an annual programme of community outreach activities and events.

• Identify underserved communities and develop inclusive approaches to improve awareness and accessibility.

• Create engaging exhibition stands, information displays and resources.

• Build relationships with organisations interested in fundraising, sponsorship or partnership opportunities.

• Support community fundraising initiatives alongside fundraising colleagues.

• Gather case studies, stories, feedback and content for newsletters, social media and other communications.

• Maintain accurate records of contacts, partnerships and engagement activity on our CRM system.

• Monitor outcomes and report against agreed objectives and KPIs.

• Co-ordinate volunteers supporting community outreach and engagement activities.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience of proactively working with a range of community partners.

• Is a natural communicator and relationship-builder, with warmth and authenticity.

• Is a confident and engaging public speaker.

• Has experience of delivering presentations and talks to different audiences.

• Can create engaging displays and represent an organisation effectively at events.

• Is highly organised and able to manage their own workload and priorities.

• Can identify and develop new partnership and engagement opportunities.

• Is comfortable using Microsoft Office, including creating PowerPoint presentations.

• Records information accurately and understands the importance of timely reporting.

• Is self-motivated, collaborative and committed to making a positive difference.

• Has a positive, practical and solutions-focused approach.

• Has a full driving licence, access to their own vehicle and the ability to travel extensively across our region.

• Can regularly work evenings and weekends when required.

Experience within healthcare, the voluntary sector or a community engagement role would be an advantage. Knowledge or personal experience of unpaid caring, experience of using Salesforce or another CRM system, and experience of supporting volunteers would also be welcomed.

Skills, attitude and experience are more important to us than specific qualifications.

What you can expect

As part of our team, you will receive:

• A salary of £30,000–£33,500, depending on experience.
