Head of Fundraising
What if your next Head of Fundraising role gave you the chance to rethink strategy and grow income for a world-leading specialist hospital?
The 'League of Friends' supports the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, funding projects and services that make a real difference to patients, staff and the wider hospital.
Now, with plans for significant growth, they're looking for a brand-new Head of Fundraising to lead the development of innovative fundraising ambitions and build on what's already been achieved.
Salary: £50,000-£55,000
Contract: Permanent. Full-time, part-time and reduced hours considered (37.5 hours FTE)
Location: Hybrid, with a minimum of two days a week onsite in Shropshire
Benefits: Holiday allowance, pension, wellbeing support and Blue Light discount
About the charity
The League of Friends has been supporting the hospital for decades, and it's fair to say they get a lot done. As the Friends themselves put it, they punch above their weight.
Alongside fundraising, they run volunteer services, patient support, retail and hospitality services, plus veterans' initiatives. Their fundraising has helped deliver projects that positively impact and improve patient experience and outcomes, from a nationally recognised, award-winning garden to investment in groundbreaking treatments.
About the role
You'll lead the development and delivery of a new fundraising strategy, working closely with the Board and senior hospital stakeholders to agree priorities, explore opportunities and grow fundraising capacity.
As part of the senior leadership team, you'll also help shape the wider direction of the organisation and contribute to a collaborative, supportive working culture.
This isn't a role where you'll be sitting back and overseeing things from a distance. Alongside the strategic work, you'll get stuck into fundraising yourself: developing relationships with high-value funders, growing major donor income and building a strong pipeline for the future.
About you
You're an experienced fundraising leader who can see the bigger picture, but is just as comfortable rolling your sleeves up and getting the job done.
You know how to turn strategy into sustainable income, bring people with you, and build the relationships that make fundraising successful. Just as importantly, you'll be a visible and inspiring leader who invests in developing a high-performing team.
We're looking for:
- Significant senior fundraising experience, with a proven ability to develop and deliver fundraising across multiple income streams.
- A strong personal track-record of securing high-value support.
- A data-informed approach, using insight and performance metrics to shape decisions and maximise growth.
- Experience leading, motivating and developing high-performing teams, creating an environment where people can thrive.
- Confidence working with Boards, Trustees and senior stakeholders, building credibility and influencing at a strategic level.
We'll also expect you to get close to the experiences of patients and staff, understanding their stories and what really matters to them, so you can help bring that to life through fundraising.
If you're excited by the prospect of shaping the future of a growing charity, combining strategic leadership with hands-on fundraising, and delivering meaningful impact for patients and staff, we'd love to hear from you.
