Are you an experienced service leader who thrives on turning around performance and building commissioner confidence?

Charity People is delighted to be partnering with Allkind to recruit an Interim Senior Service Manager.

About the charity

Allkind is a London-based mental health charity supporting people across the full mental health spectrum, from early intervention through to complex needs. Following a merger in December 2024, the organisation launched as Allkind in April 2026, bringing together decades of experience and a shared commitment to delivering compassionate, accessible support.

Working closely with the NHS and local communities, the charity supports more than 22,000 people each year and continues to grow its reach and impact. Kindness, inclusion and lived experience sit at the heart of everything they do.

This is an exciting opportunity to make an immediate impact on a vital service during a period of focused improvement.

About the role

Working alongside the Head of Service, the Interim Senior Service Manager will provide senior leadership to Allkind's South West London Suicide Prevention, Postvention and Bereavement Support Service. You will bring stability, accountability and confidence to a service operating under pressure, while ensuring that people bereaved or affected by suicide continue to receive safe, compassionate and high-quality support.

This is a hands-on interim role, ideal for an experienced manager of commissioned services who can drive improvement at pace against strict deadlines and robust contractual KPIs. You will lead a small multidisciplinary team, including awareness practitioners, a bereavement support worker and a counsellor, while supporting the current Service Manager.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of a time-bound service improvement plan, with clear milestones, accountable owners and measurable outcomes
  • Set clear priorities, responsibilities and expectations across the team, aligned with contractual requirements
  • Strengthen operational management, team communication, decision-making and escalation processes
  • Establish robust systems to track performance against KPIs and take timely corrective action
  • Lead regular recovery plan reviews, ensuring actions are documented, owned and completed on time
  • Develop clear dashboards and exception reports, ensuring accurate, evidence-based reporting to commissioners within deadlines
  • Act as a key point of contact for commissioners, building trusted relationships and providing assurance on performance, risk and compliance
  • Drive outreach and awareness activity across six boroughs, ensuring contacts convert into delivered training sessions
  • Coach and support the Service Manager to strengthen KPI focus and operational oversight
  • Maintain a clear audit trail of decisions, actions, performance discussions and contractual commitments

You will have

  • Senior operational management experience in commissioned services within the charity, housing, NHS or health and social care sectors
  • A proven track record of turning around performance and closing KPI gaps quickly
  • Strong experience of contract management, governance, quality assurance and compliance
  • Confidence building trusted relationships with commissioners and providing assurance under scrutiny
  • Experience leading service improvement or recovery plans against strict deadlines
  • Strong data and reporting skills, including producing clear performance reports
  • Experience coaching and developing managers
  • A proactive, solutions-focused and hands-on approach
  • Experience in mental health, suicide prevention or bereavement services would be advantageous

Hiring process

There will be a one-stage interview, in person at Allkind's head office near Victoria, on Wednesday 11 November.
