 In April 2024 we launched an ambitious five-year strategy. At the same time, in acknowledgement of the fact that if we are to deliver for older people we need to change as an organisation, we began a process of internal transformation.

Job description

Job Purpose

By providing high quality governance and administrative support you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our organisation. By supporting our Trustees and SMT you will improve our internal accountability and reduce the administrative burden on our senior team; freeing them to focus on organisational development, on building external relationships and pursuing opportunities which align with our strategy.

Key Tasks

 Overseeing our Governance & Administration:

• You will organise and service the Trustee Board and Board Committee meetings, including agendas, minute-taking, follow-ups on actions, ensuring compliance with governing documents and charity law.
• Be the key contact for trustees, including overseeing their recruitment, induction and training.
• Better connect our governance and management processes through improving alignment of our Trustee and management reporting cycles and coordinating meetings and the delivery of Exec reports.
• Act as company secretary and ensure the Company House and Charity Commission websites are kept up to date.

Supporting our Executive team:

• Manage the CEO's diary, coordinate and prepare for SMT meetings, and monthly whole team meetings, maintain action logs, and provide proactive support in work planning.
• Lead on liaison with, and reports to, Age UK national. This will include coordinating visits and the collection of data.
• Develop and oversee our internal knowledge sharing systems
• Ensure our intranet is up to date and our new SharePoint file structure is maintained.

 General

• To meet regularly with line manager for support, supervision and appraisal.
• To attend team and staff meetings, (and other meetings) as required.
• To undertake any other duties within the competence of the post holder as may be required from time to time for the continued smooth running of Age UK East London.

Additional Requirements

• Ideally, we would like the post holder to attend our evening trustee meetings (four a quarter, two online and two in person). This time will be available to be taken back in lieu. However, for the right candidate we can be flexible about this requirement.
• As Age UK East London works with children and vulnerable adults the post holder will be required to have a satisfactory enhanced DBS certificate. A criminal record will not necessarily, but may be, a bar to obtaining a position with the organisation.

FearFree delivers services across the Southwest for victims, children and perpetrators of domestic abuse, sexual violence and stalking, with the aim to break the cycle of abuse and support all to live free from fear. We provide trauma responsive support, and this post will be fundamental to ensuring service users, stakeholders and partners experience this in our daily delivery.

Working within experienced and committed teams, the Behaviour Change Worker will deliver trauma responsive interventions including one to one support and group work to prevent harm.

FearFree is committed to flexible and hybrid working and this role will be a mix of home based and office based, alongside requiring travel for multi-agency meetings and other deliverables.

There is a requirement for evening working – approximately once per week to deliver group work interventions. There may be a requirement to work weekends. 

Key Responsibilities

• Complete specialist risk assessments according to service guidelines and Respect standards, alongside developing personalised safety and support plans for programme participants.
• Deliver one to one specialist behaviour change interventions for people with vulnerabilities, complex or multiple needs and those who require additional support to access our services.
• Co-facilitate short term and long-term group work, providing a Respect accredited DVPP (Domestic Violence Perpetrator Programme) programme.
• Promote the service externally and ensure our interventions are accessible.
• Provide proactive, trauma responsive and holistic support, with a focus on increasing victim safety and reducing the risk posed by a perpetrator.
• Work within a multi-agency framework to effect change, manage risk and ensure safeguarding of vulnerable adults and children is paramount.
• Offer professional consultancy, training and advice to other agencies on working with perpetrators.
• To work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the safety of the victim is held central.
• Represent the service user voice in a multi-agency context.
• Attend Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARAC) and Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) meetings as required.

General

Reporting into the Head of Service Delivery, the Safeguarding Manager will be responsible for ensuring robust compliance within the service, including with external regulatory bodies and will work closely with colleagues in the Operations Leadership Team, sharing effective practice as required. Age UK is hiring a Team Leader to join our National Advice Line!

We are still in a cost-of-living crisis and too many older people in the UK are in desperate need of advice and support. As a Team Leader, you will be playing an important role in this vital service; managing a team of Contact Centre advisors dedicated to providing a high-quality service to those in later life. You will be responsible for the delivery of a professional Information and Advice Line service supporting older people, via telephone, email, webchat and letter. Ensuring the team's development, motivation and performance is in line with the Charity's objectives, you will provide effective and swift response to requests for help and support from advisors on shift.

If you are passionate about developing a team, providing an excellent customer service, and want to make a measurable difference to the lives of older people, this may be the role for you.

This role offers hybrid working between home and our offices in either Ashburton or Blackpool. A robust home broadband connection is essential. The team work from the office at least 1 day a week, although this can be more if you prefer. You will need to live within an easily commutable distance of the office either by car or public transport, we suggest up to an hour's commute. During the probation and training period you may be required to come into the office 2-3 days a week. We are currently trialling fortnightly office attendance, but this could be subject to change in future.

The Advice Line is open from 8am to 7pm, 365 days of the year and you will be required to work a variety of shifts including some weekends and bank holidays. Full time contracts are for 35 hours per week.

The available role
As our new Head of Finance, you’ll be a key member of the Business Development Team - managing a small team and ensuring they deliver a high quality service. You will work closely with the Executive Team and Board of Trustees, ensuring they have a clear understanding of the hospice’s financial position.

You’ll be joining a values-led, CQC Outstanding rated hospice at a pivotal moment in our journey. As Head of Finance, you will lead the hospice’s budgeting process and audit process, as well as producing regular management accounts, forecasts, statutory returns and investments. You will work with managers from across the hospice to help them to better understand their own budgets and you will play a vital role in improving efficiencies and managing costs.

The role is available 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 8.30am – 4.30pm (Friday 4pm finish), on a salary of £55,690 - £62,682 per annum. A hybrid approach to work, with the option to work from home 1–2days per week, depending on the needs of the service.
