The Personal Assistant (Diary & Events) works closely with the Bishops, the Bishop's Chaplain & Executive Assistant and the Finance & Associate PA.
The post-holder will need to have (or be able to quickly develop) a thorough knowledge of the many facets of a Bishop's roles, the workings of the Diocese of Liverpool and the Church of England more widely. As well as having excellent organisational, administrative and diary management skills, the post-holder must have the capacity to respond quickly often working independently and calmly to rapidly changing circumstances and effectively manage competing demands.
This role demands initiative, discretion and creativity. It is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, is passionate about the Church's mission, and is confident in managing both strategic and operational responsibilities. It requires someone who is proactive and can organise their work so that they are one step ahead in order to anticipate issues and influence positive outcomes. The post holder will also be an excellent communicator, able to handle difficult conversations and be highly collaborative in order to build highly effective working relationships with a wide range of individuals and organisations.
The role will be primarily based at Bishop's Lodge, Woolton Park, Liverpool. There is a requirement to be flexible and, on occasion, to work from the diocesan office at St James' House.
These relationships will be vital as everyone in the bishop's office must have a good awareness of each other's work and the capacity to allocate tasks and support each other's workstreams according to the particular demands. Holidays must be agreed between staff to ensure that the office is well staffed. The PA (Diary & Events) will not normally be away from the Office or on holiday at the same time as the Finance & Associate PA.
Any given day is varied and therefore likely to produce a range of demands both foreseen and unforeseen; the Personal Assistant needs the flexibility and initiative to respond appropriately as and when matters arise. The following are, however, the focal responsibilities of the role:
Diary Management
Working with the Bishop's Chaplain & Executive Assistant, to have overall responsibility to plan, organise and coordinate all elements of the day-to-day diary management for the bishops and the Bishop's Chaplain. This includes but is not limited to:
- Book, manage and adjust appointments, engagements and meetings.
- Organise the diary and schedule the bishops' day in a way that enables and sustains their ministries.
- Take the lead on making travel and accommodation arrangements
- Ensure the bishops have all necessary paperwork or information in advance of meetings or engagements
- Liaise with parishes, clergy and all key stakeholders both internal and external where required.
- Be pro-active in drafting appropriate responses to all requests and invitations.
- Protect the bishop's diary by setting criteria to manage all diary demands including pushing back on requests to ensure that the number of commitments is sustainable.
Administrative and operational support
- Managing the administration for Readers in the diocese including liaising with the Diocesan Team and the Warden of Readers.
- From time to time as and when required to serve as clerk to the meetings held by the bishops and to take notes, co-ordinate agendas, actions and follow-ups.
- Oversee the maintenance of the Clergy Personal Files ensuring that they are up to date and stored and organised correctly.
- Collaborate with the Bishops' Chaplain & Executive Assistant and other members of the team to provide administrative support to enable the smooth running of the Bishop's Office and is also crucial to the Bishops' work.
- Develop and maintain highly effective electronic and paper filing systems, data, databases, and other records storage in line with Safeguarding and GDPR principles.
- Undertake other appropriate duties as commensurate with the role as requested by the Bishop
Event management
- Lead on planning and delivery of events, both large and small, hosted by or involving the bishops as required and share in welcoming visitors to the Bishop's Office.
- Plan, coordinate and manage logistics, invitations, guest communications and event materials, liaising with both internal and external contacts and be the lead contact for such events.
- Ensure events reflect the bishops' priorities and are delivered with professionalism and warmth.
Developing and maintaining relationships
Build excellent working relationships with all those with whom the Bishops come into contact by responding to a wide range of enquiries in a warm and friendly manner, either in person or by directing enquirers to the appropriate sources of information.
Establish, maintain and improve ways of working and consistent information flow, including liaising with the bishops' staff, Diocesan Offices, other bishops, external civic contacts, dioceses and clergy nationally; the Bishoprics and Church Commissioners.
Skills/Aptitudes

As Community Mission Facilitator you will be responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of spiritual programmes and outreach within the local community to fulfil the aims of Newtown's Mission Development Plan.
You will plan, design and implement spiritual programmes and initiatives to support the successful delivery of our mission. Through developing effective working relationships and establishing links within the community, you will ensure the effective delivery of programmes and activities to support and engage with the community.
Successful candidate will have:
- The ability and willingness to support the fulfilment of the spiritual aims of the programme, showing compassion and understanding to all programme participants and be willing to support an individual’s spiritual needs

Working closely with the Disability Project Manager, the Liaison Officer will play a crucial role in the Church of England's commitment to creating an inclusive and accessible environment for all. About the Department/Role
The Reconciling Leaders Network (RLN) has a vision for the church to be a reconciling presence in conflict and communities, with a purpose to mobilise a generation of reconcilers, pursuing a just and flourishing world. RLN works across the Anglican Communion and ecumenically, supporting a ministry of peacebuilding and reconciliation, with a small and agile team (currently six team members).
Reconciling Leaders Network (RLN) has developed Difference, growing a cohort of global champions and a network of leaders focusing on reconciliation as a mission.
Difference (difference.rln.global) aims to encourage, support and mobilise a generation to live out their calling as peacemakers and reconcilers, pursuing a just flourishing world. This role will seek to deliver significant growth and engagement of Difference.
What you'll be doing
The Head of Communications and Partnerships (for Reconciling Leaders Network) will lead RLN's communications, marketing, and digital engagement strategy, ensuring our message is clear, compelling, and consistent across all channels, extending the reach and engagement of Difference. This role is central to shaping how RLN and Difference are experienced by audiences in the UK and globally.
The successful candidate will bring understanding of the reconciliation and peacebuilding sector, as well as the geo-political and church contexts in which RLN operates. They will be a strategic thinker, a skilled marketeer, theologically astute and a relationship builder who is committed to equity, diversity, inclusion and justice, and brings cultural sensitivity to their work and leadership.
The post holder will support the bold objectives for this reconciliation ministry. They will have budgetary and line-management responsibilities and work with external agencies and freelancers to deliver outcomes.
You will work with and through Anglican systems, structures and networks as well ecumenically across different Christian denominations and other organisations - reaching a global audience. As well as working with civic, community and multinational organisations and networks.
Key role requirements

We are seeking a Finance Officer with excellent numerical skills and attention to detail, and good inter-personal skills to join our friendly Finance Team at Yeldall Manor. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for helping others to join a Christian organisation dedicated to supporting men in their journey of recovery from addiction to drugs or alcohol.
As Finance Officer, you will support and deputise for the Finance Manager in all aspects of the finance role including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, bank and cash reconciliation and the processing of donations (please see the Job Description for more details). You will also support our residents in the management of their money and benefits and accompany them to relevant appointments. A driver’s licence is essential for this role.
You will have relevant accounting/bookkeeping qualifications e.g. AAT Technician Level and have experience of financial management, ideally in the not-for-profit sector. You will be a quick learner, able to manage multiple priorities and enjoy working as part of a small team that has a real impact upon people’s lives.
Yeldall Manor is a Christian organisation, and this role requires a committed Christian faith to meet the occupational requirements (in accordance with Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010). We ask all staff to engage with and support our residents in their recovery journey, offering encouragement in both practical and spiritual matters.
This is a full-time, permanent position (40 hours per week) although 32 hours would be considered for the right person. A Rocha UK is the only national Christian conservation charity in the UK. Our mission is to mobilise Christians and churches to care for the natural world. We do this currently through a number of programmes reaching different parts of the Christian community: Eco Church for local churches, Partners in Action facilitating conservation efforts by Christian land managers, Wild Christian, supporting individuals and households to act on nature, including by campaigning, and our Convening programme, supporting Christian environmental leaders. We also contribute to several networks - Christian and secular - involved in both practical conservation and climate change work, as well as research, policy and campaigning.
Purpose of Job:
Working closely with a Steering Group of senior staff and expert volunteers, you’ll coordinate the modular Christian Environmental Mobilisers (CEMs) course, from helping refine course modules, liaising with expert contributors and ensuring course promotion through A Rocha’s communications, to managing participant registration, scheduling online learning sessions, and helping evaluate impact. The role will report to Andy Atkins, CEO of A Rocha UK and an experienced campaigner and mobiliser.

About the role
Reporting in to the Director of Organisational Effectiveness, the Head of People & Culture will drive culture and embed practices in relation to retention, talent management and employee well-being, ensuring engagement across all regions.
The successful candidate will Identify strategic opportunities in Human Resource and Organisational Development, offering technical input into the CA People Plan, whilst inspiring and empowering the CA People Team fostering continuous improvement to achieve outstanding results as a team.
The post-holder will champion a culture of innovation in relation to People initiatives, ensuring they are aligned to the organisation's growth and culture.

About you
Who we are looking for:
Essential:
- Extensive experience in HR management at a senior level, ideally in non-profit or international development sectors.
- Extensive experience of leading HR teams and managing strategic initiatives such as talent acquisition, leadership development, employee engagement, and performance management.
- Extensive UK employment law knowledge either through experience or CIPD/SHRM elevated qualifications.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement programs that focus on employee wellbeing, mental health, and building a supportive work environment.
- Highly developed problem solving skills to resolve complex situations.
- Experience of working in or with organisations in the humanitarian sector, such as international NGOs, development agencies, or charitable organisations.
- Understanding of the unique challenges faced by organisations like Christian Aid, including working in crisis environments and managing international, multi-location teams.
- A highly detailed understanding of the cultural nuances in HR practices across diverse environments.

We are seeking an experienced and diligent HR Administrator to provide HR admin support to the organisation. You will be responsible for all HR administration, including the production of HR paperwork, and serve as the day-to-day generalist HR contact for all employees. We do not currently have HR software, so reviewing our requirements in this area would be one of your responsibilities.
This is part-time fixed-term position, as we review the organisation’s needs in this area, and will be subject to review and possible extension at the end of six months.
As a small charity (c. 35 staff including part-time and casual workers), the role will require balancing practical tasks with more senior HR responsibilities. You'll be based in the office (a lovely rural setting near Twyford, Reading) for at least two days per week and, being situated within the rehabilitation centre, you will have daily contact with those men whom you are helping. They inspire and motivate us just as much as we seek to encourage and support them.

A Daylight Fundraiser will answer to and work alongside the CEO to convey the Daylight Vision and build relationship with key Christian figures. With guidance and information from other members of the team, the Daylight Fundraiser’s primary responsibility will be to research trust and grant funding opportunities, tailor applications to donors and nurture relationships in a way designed to inspire funding partners to take the gospel with us into UK prisons.
Daylight is a national charity currently predominantly funded by Churches and individual Christians, with a small but significant income stream from trusts and foundations. Having recently re-visioned for a post COVID / intranet-in-prison age we recently celebrated our 20th Anniversary and are positioning for growth.

Evening / Weekend Support Worker (Substance Misuse)
We are looking for someone mature, motivated and caring to provide person-centred support to our residents in their recovery journey. If you have a heart to see people overcome substance misuse - to reset, recover, and restore their lives - please join our friendly team.
The post-holder will form part of our team of staff who support our residents in their recovery primarily outside of office hours. You will therefore have great inter-personal skills and the ability to implement firm but caring boundaries. In addition, you will be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks, including updating records and administering medication as well as managing the house during weekends and overnight.
This is a part-time role on a zero hours contract, including some evenings and weekends, so could work alongside other employment commitments. Hours negotiable.
