Are you passionate about youth work with leadership experience? We are looking for a Director of Youth Work to provide effective leadership and strategic direction for the Youth Work team within FAST London. The Director of Youth Work will sit in the Leadership Team, working in collaboration with the CEO and managers to ensure FAST’s overall strategic objectives and desired outcomes are met.

FAST London (FAST) is a Christian youth charity based on the Patmore Estate focused on supporting 10–19-year-olds from deprived backgrounds in Battersea and South Lambeth. Our mission is to help young people succeed by creating safe spaces and providing diversionary and inspiring activities that develop resilience and inspire hope in efforts to achieve this. We build relationships with young people by engaging with them in environments where they feel most comfortable whilst doing activities they love. Once relationships are developed, we work with young people and stakeholders to overcome challenges and unlock potential.We also provide opportunities for young people to explore the Christian faith as we believe it transforms lives. We serve people without regard to their religion or ethnic background.
Context for this role
This is a pivotal moment for FAST as the need for our work has expanded due to more young people falling into poverty and struggling in schools. Whilst capacity is a challenge with 60% cut in public youth programmes over the last decade (YMCA 2020). We are still growing strong and are able to work with 300 young people annually. However, our desire is to continue this work of establishing and growing a healthy youth organisation that provides excellent & vibrant youth work that makes a difference to young people’s lives and produces healthy staff that are equipped and empowered to do the job they love. Therefore, the need to grow our team is quite pressing. We are in search for someone with experience leading youth work and developing a healthy organisation who can help strengthen our work here in very significant ways, with a particular gifting in thinking strategically and working hard to get results.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Work Location/Hybrid Working Pattern:

Tuesdays are our anchor days where every staff member is expected to be at the office. The 90 days includes anchor Tuesdays. In addition, Thursday is a core working day where part time staff are expected to work, either at home or from the office as needed.

·Lead Face-to-Face Youth Engagement
Deliver regular, purposeful youth work sessions for young people aged 10+, ensuring programmes reflect their needs and the centre’s Christian values.
·Design and Deliver Sports Programmes
Oversee a diverse and inclusive sports programme, incorporating awards, adventure activities, and development opportunities for young people.
·Strategic Planning and Evaluation
Develop and review session plans, set objectives, evaluate impact, and ensure alignment with local and national youth work policies.
·Staff and Volunteer Management
Recruit, supervise, train, and support youth work staff and volunteers, fostering a strong and capable delivery team.
·Fundraising and Financial Oversight
Raise and manage funds for activities, ensuring budgets are used effectively and reporting meets funder requirements.
·Ensure Safety, Inclusion, and Centre Collaboration
Uphold health and safety standards, promote accessibility, and contribute to the wider development and Christian ethos of The Salmon Youth Centre.
About You:
·Qualified Professional
Holds a JNC-recognised youth/community work or sports qualification, Ideally with aFirst Aid certification, and a D1 driving licence.
·Experienced Youth Work Manager
Has 3+ years’ management experience working with young people in informal, voluntary settings—especially through sports.
·Strong Leader and Manager
Proven ability to lead teams, supervise staff, manage resources, and develop effective programmes.
·Skilled Planner and Evaluator
Confident in setting goals, monitoring progress, and evaluating outcomes within a youth work context.
·Inclusive and Safeguarding-Focused
Knowledge of equality, diversity, safeguarding legislation, and experience working in diverse, inner-city environments.
·Christian Ethos and Communication
Able to promote Christian values through youth work, build partnerships, and engage with communities effectively.
Genuine Occupational Requirement:
Due to the nature of this role and the ethos of our organisation, it is an occupational requirement, in accordance with Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010, that the post holder is a practicing, Christian. The successful candidate will be expected to fully support and actively promote the Christian values and mission of our centre.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Director of Finance and Services with a Christian membership charity, on a full-time, permanent basis. Due to the values of this organisation, this vacancy is open to practicing Christians only (exempt under the Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9, Part 1). As Director of Finance and Services, you will play a critical role in enabling the necessary resource and support to colleagues to deliver, and also provide advice and guidance as required to the volunteer leaders, including the Board of Trustees, and ensure that the charity operates within its means and in compliance with the laws of England and Wales.

As Director of Finance and Services, you will:
- Have responsibility for all financial aspects of the charity
- Lead a Team of 5-6
- Lead on strategic and operational planning for the organisation, ensuring effective forecasting, budgeting, reporting and risk management
- Provide appropriate advice to the volunteer Boards of over 60 affiliated local charities in Britain and Ireland, and on an as-needs basis with Provinces worldwide, to ensure compliance with statutory requirements
- Have oversight of IT strategy and implementation
- Provide organisational leadership as part of the Senior Leadership Team
The successful applicant will:
- Have significant demonstrable experience in finance within the charity sector, in a similar role
- Be fully qualified (ACCA, CIMA, ACA etc)
- Have good working knowledge of the Charities Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP)
- Have experience of planning and implementation of process improvement or change programmes
- Have significant demonstrable experience of working at senior level (with Board contribution), contributing and leading on an organisation’s strategic plans
- Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
