We are recruiting for a Divisional Children’s Worker to provide practical knowledge, expertise, and example of children’s ministry. Working to develop and deliver a children’s work strategy to enable local corps and centres to raise leaders and children who are disciples of Jesus in our tradition of social change and justice. The South West Divisional Headquarters is in Exeter and the applicant will be required to travel there at least once fortnightly as well as visiting various areas across the division including Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Wiltshire, Bristol and Gloucester. Although, this post will be more focused in Somerset, Devon and Cornwall.

Key responsibilities include:

• Equipping and empowering children’s leaders to enhance their communities and engage with children and the issues that affect them.
• Enabling children to experience ‘Fullness of life with Jesus’ in broader contexts. This might involve leading event and residential opportunities as well as children’s work in corps contexts.
• Contributing into the planning and review process for the programmes and activities across the division.

This role has an occupational requirement that you must be a committed and practising Christian. As well as being an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal and organisational skills, you will have:

• A recognised qualification in youth work and/or good experience of working with young people in outreach, discipleship, and leadership.
• Practical experience of developing community youth outreach projects and schools based mentoring programmes.
• Relevant technical skills, including project management, finance, stakeholder engagement, social media.
• The ability to work flexibly including evenings, weekends, overnight and residential weeks when necessary.
• A clean driving licence

Overall Purpose of Role

In your role as Community Pastor, you will lead, innovate, and add momentum and direction to all of our local Community Outreach work at Saint Paul’s Hammersmith. You will strategically represent the church with external stakeholders, help to create key partnerships within the community, whilst building and empowering a dynamic and vibrant volunteer culture within the Saint Paul’s congregation.

You will oversee our Community Café and lead on all our community outreach programmes across Hammersmith, including our Community Hub, Café Concert and Love Christmas Project.

We are looking for someone with a proven track record in building volunteer teams, supporting key leaders and the ability to develop collaborative relationships with external organisations, charities and grant making bodies. You will enjoy the challenge and opportunity of a fast-paced environment, where teamwork is essential but where individual skills and distributed leadership are also required.

You will also be an ambassador for Love Your Neighbour (LYN) which is part of a national movement of churches collaborating in local communities, alongside people of all faiths and none to support individuals and families in need. This will involve being part of the LYN Hub Accelerator Programme, to help Saint Paul’s refine our vision and impact in this area of social transformation.

Key Responsibilities

• Effective coordination of our City Transformation ministry.
• Ensuring that our projects are meeting the needs of our community.
• Reaching out to those in crisis to help people access places of care, both inside and outside of Saint Paul’s, and helping people access programmes that address the root cause of crisis.
• Co-ordinating and implementing our vision to become a Love Your Neighbour hub that makes a long-term impact through social transformation and helping to implement our 5-year strategy for Social Transformation.
• Oversight of our Saint Paul’s Community Café and vision and strategy on scaling the café.
• Acting as an ambassador for and developing relationships with our partner charities, Spear and Crosslight to ensure that their ministries are well supported and integrated into the life of Saint Paul’s.
• With the support of our Operations Manager and using existing Love Your Neighbour impact measurement systems, collecting data and carrying out regular impact measurement to create reports for church leadership, PCC and funding partners.

Cafe Concerts

Our monthly Cafe Concerts were established in the Spring of 2023, aimed at creating a uniquely multi-generational open door for the local community to enjoy a morning of world-class music, coffee, cake, and a warm welcome. We now regularly host between 60-70 people, including local asylum seekers, residents from St Vincents care home, all alongside our growing Stay and Play community of Mums and Toddlers who join the Cafe Concert.

Community Hub

The Community Hub was created in 2023 to support those who are experiencing loneliness. There is a hot meal provided, as well as kids activities and lots of space for conversation. There have been seven Community Hubs in 2023, with over 500 guests (including many asylum seekers based in local hotels) and a 30-person volunteer team. We have supported in a variety of ways, including writing references, providing clothes and most importantly, forming friendships with people. 

Love Christmas

In December 2023, we partnered with Love Christmas to pack and deliver more than 720 Bags of Kindness to our local community, with the help of 30 volunteers. The combination of donations raised from within our congregation, and match funding from Love Your Neighbour enabled us to show practical love and care to some of the most vulnerable in our local area. You will be responsible for overseeing and developing this project.

You will also helping to establish new initiatives as the need arises, in collaboration with the Senior Team. This might include a breakfast club for children at our local school, Kids Matter, and Recovery Groups/ courses that will have a missional outworking and community focus.

Working Requirements

• Proof of right to work in the UK according to UK Legislation.
• Days of work: 35 hours per week, Sunday – Thursday, with some occasional evening and Saturday working as required (TOIL given).

We have a great opportunity to join the team as a Church Buildings Officer to help support the long-term sustainable future of historic church buildings across the diocese and assist individual congregations to care for them and adapt them for today’s needs.

The Role

Working within the Church Buildings Team, the Church Buildings Officer will be responsible for:

• Managing, processing, and assisting with DAC casework (including formal DAC site visits), providing pre-application advice, project management support, and managing the consultation processes with amenity societies
• Making recommendations to the DAC committee as necessary and utilising delegated authority to progress cases outside of the committee structure
• Supporting the Head of Church Buildings in proactive projects to ensure the long-term sustainability of churches within the Diocese
• Assisting in providing information, training, and guidance for parishes in all aspects of managing their churches.

About You

You will embrace the challenge that such a varied role brings, with an organised approach, and the ability to navigate differing stakeholder views, finding pragmatic solutions under pressure.

With a strong understanding of conservation philosophy, legislation, and techniques, and experience in providing advice to building users on the care, alteration, and management of historic buildings, you will play a key role in this small and hard-working team of conservation professionals. Your ability to problem solve and mediate will ensure that you are able to support parishes in utilising their church buildings and that the best possible outcome is achieved in a timely manner.

You will be flexible in your working style, with confident communication skills, and excellent organisational and monitoring abilities, handling a number of complex schemes at once and managing relationships with colleagues throughout the heritage sector.

You will be from an architectural, surveying, or conservation officer background with strong knowledge of conservation techniques and philosophy. Ideally, you will have or be willing to work towards IHBC (Institute of Historic Building Conservation) accreditation. A keen eye for detail and the skills to manage stakeholders will be essential.

You do not need to be a practising Christian or have a faith to work here - around 50% of staff are not practising Christians but are comfortable with the Christian ethos that underpins our work. However, all staff do have a desire to make a difference.

About the Role

We are looking for someone who has a passion and expertise for establishing positive and productive relationships with families and a commitment to their participation in the life of the church. Tyndale House is a renowned institute for biblical studies and possesses one of the finest libraries for biblical research in the world. It aims to grow an international research community, to present the value of the Bible at the highest academic level, to resource the Church to understand and trust the Bible, and to promote informed attitudes to the Bible.

The Supporter Engagement Officer will play a key role in engaging, involving and inspiring all supporters of Tyndale House through building excellent relationships via a variety of communication channels. One of our ambitious plans for 2024 and beyond includes a capital campaign to rebuild our 1960s library into a state-of-the-art facility. We are looking for people to work with us to make this vision a reality.

The successful candidate will be integral to achieving our strategic priorities of generating income through repeat support, and providing exceptional journeys for our community of supporters, ensuring they feel valued and engaged. The role will provide strategic support to the Director of Engagement and work with the communications and development team to ensure that our outputs are cohesive and coherent.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role, ideally within the Charity sector. He/she will be a self-starter, highly motivated and with the ability to work well as part of a team.

All parts of the Church will need to raise funds to implement this net zero plan. In 2024 and 2025, the Church of England is testing and piloting a range of approaches to help churches fundraise for projects. Our feasibility study identified that statutory sources of funding, currently under-accessed will be a new area of opportunity for churches, schools and housing to access.

The Giving Directorate is leading on the strategy to coordinate and support the plans being developed by our dioceses, churches, cathedrals, schools, and departments. In addition, The Giving Directorate and NetZero Programme Team will be engaging with funders at a national level to secure investment for projects.

Job Summary:

As Net Zero Carbon Statutory Fundraising Coordinator, you will work in The Giving Directorate and operate across the whole Church with a focus on supporting parishes and dioceses to access statutory funds. You will share your knowledge and insight to support with identifying, researching and applying to funding from a range of government sources. You will develop and maintain resources, guidance and training and help share best practice across the country, as well as working with regional fundraisers. With a range of projects and fundraising initiatives, the post holder will work collaboratively within The Giving Directorate and with the Net Zero Programme Team, with diocesan colleagues and with church volunteers.

The role:

Main responsibilities

• Develop a national plan to secure statutory funding at parish and diocesan level
• Acting as a central point of coordination between the schools, housing and parish fundraising workstreams to oversee statutory funding
• Working specifically with the Regional Fundraising Officer in the north west cluster of dioceses to identify and support applications to statutory funding sources by parishes
• Working with Net Zero Implementation Manager to support statutory funding applications for clergy housing
• Building capacity in dioceses to support senior staff (incl. Bishops) to use their networks to identify relevant statutory funding opportunities (e.g. mayors, local council leadership, police and crime commissioners etc)
• Supporting dioceses to think creatively about packaging projects up a) between parishes, b) between parishes, schools and clergy housing, c) across deaneries.
• Leading consortia of dioceses to apply for funding if available and supporting applications
• Building a hub of best practice and shared learning which will include designing and delivering training to staff and volunteers at all levels
• Sharing statutory funding opportunities across the Church of England, Net Zero Carbon, Giving, and Fundraising networks and with Cathedrals

The ideal candidate:

To be successful, you will need experience of securing statutory funding for projects and of other aspects of fundraising. You will need to be a very strong self-motivator and initiator as the job requires an ability to work across a wide geographical area on a diverse range of projects. Experience managing projects would also be useful. You will be an excellent trainer and communicator.

Due to the specialist nature of the roles within The Giving Directorate, training will be provided to successful candidates to enable them to carry out their role confidently.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level, or equivalent/relevant experience.
• Membership of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising

Experience

Essential:

• Experience in securing funding from statutory funders
• Success in securing five and six-figure gifts

The Diocese of Guildford has an exciting part-time opportunity for a Community Project Lead to manage our parish-based community project, Hear Here. As a member of the Mission Enabler Team, you will have the opportunity to work flexibly with enthusiastic colleagues across the wider Church House.

The Hear Here Project is a collaboration between the Diocese, Parishes, NHS Audiology Departments and Sight for Surrey to assist those who wear an NHS-issued hearing aid with any technical issues at clinics run by trained hearing champions. The clinics work to reduce social isolation through the maintenance of hearing devices, conversation, and friendship.

Key Responsibilities include:

· Manage a team of volunteers to ensure clinics run consistently, safely, and according to required standards.

Position summary

SAT-7 is currently looking to recruit a Development Officer to join SAT-7s Development Department.

The purpose of SAT-7 is to provide Christian television and digital media services to support the work and witness of the church in the Middle East and North Africa.

SAT-7’s Development department works with projects to address often controversial issues in the MENA region such as disability, discrimination, limited educational opportunities, women’s and children’s rights through the TV-programs and through on the ground partners.

The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on the activities of SAT-7 PARS, SAT-7’s Farsi speaking channel, including the drafting of fundraising proposals.

Summary of key responsibilities

• Development of fundraising proposals for SAT-7 PARS’ channel projects in cooperation with all relevant SAT-7 stakeholders
• Conduct frequent MENA context analysis with special focus on the situation for Christians, FoRB, women, children, disabilities, education etc.
• Monitoring and managing the correct implementation of the projects (scope, budget, schedule, quality etc.)
• Manage and ensure the necessary reporting of SAT-7 PARS projects carried out with restricted funds.
• Management and development of the portfolio of SAT-7 social-impact projects in line with Communications for Development approach
• Oversee research related to measurement of the success of different projects.
