Preston Minster’s vision is to play their part in the re-evangelisation of the nation, the revitalisation of the church, and the transformation of society. In 2019 they were sent from Holy Trinity Brompton, London, to help people in Preston find their home, find their purpose and transform their city. A vibrant church in the heart the city centre, with a mission to see lives changed by Jesus. They aim to be a church that offers a big welcome and a safe space to explore the Christian faith and encounter the person of Jesus.

The important stuff 

Salary: £25,000 pro rata, plus defined contribution pension scheme

Hours: Part time, 20 hours per week, between 9.30am – 5.30pm, Monday – Thursday (with some flexibility and occasional evening or weekend work for events such as Spear Celebrations)

Key Responsibilities

Spear Programme

• Lead group sessions of up to 10 young people, using coaching skills to transform their mindsets, and to maximise their potential in stepping into the world of work
• Prepare and deliver coaching sessions on a weekly basis and find creative ways of developing ongoing relationships with Spear Trainees. This includes running application workshops with past Trainees as well as maintaining records and reporting on statistics

Relationship management

• Build and manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including referrers, local businesses, and other organisations
• You will support with job fairs, mock interview days and welcoming external visitors to the centre

Church Community

• The Spear Coach is directly employed by Preston Minster, meaning you are part of a vibrant church staff team and submerged in an exciting faith community
• You will be required to establish strong relationships with key people at the church to ensure the engagement and backing of church members
• Supporting the Centre Manager in ensuring Spear is a key missional feature of the work of the church; this may involve attending church events and speaking at services
   

Centre operations

• Support the wider Spear team and senior leadership team in developing the financial sustainability of Spear Preston e.g. gathering data for funding applications, organising community fundraising events
• Work with relevant members of the ministry team, particularly youth and student ministries to further embed Spear into the life of the church
• Liaise with relevant staff locally on-site issues and work to resolve them as soon as possible, ensuring the office and training rooms are safe and tidy working spaces in line with health and safety policies and safeguarding issues are reported in a timely manner

What we want from you

We’re looking for a curious, motivated Data Insight Analyst to join our dynamic Customer Insight Team.

If you’re someone who loves using data to solve real-world problems and help shape organisational strategy, you could be just who we’re looking for. You’ll need to be comfortable working with large datasets, putting your data mining and analytical skills to good use.

Experience-wise, we're looking for someone familiar with analytics tools like Tableau, Faststats, or similar. You should also be comfortable with SQL and skilled at making the most of data from a variety of sources. First-hand experience with CRM systems such as Raiser’s Edge would be advantageous, especially in the charity sector, and if you're curious about data science or even have experience in this area, even better.

As well as excellent analytical skills, you’ll have a naturally inquisitive mind and a passion for problem-solving. We’re looking for a strong communicator, comfortable at delivering your analysis outcomes whether that’s to a room of colleagues or one on one with stakeholders, your ability to convey complex insights in a clear and compelling way will be highly valued.

Responsibilities:

Grant Fundraising Support:

• Work with the Selce community (the board, staff, volunteers and other stakeholders) to generate new project ideas that support our strategic mission 
• Research and identify potential grant-making trusts, foundations, and statutory bodies that will fund project proposals
• Prepare high-quality grant applications; this includes calculating budget requirements, formulating proposals, writing proposals
• Manage the grant administration process and maintain accurate records of funding opportunities and applications in the fundraising calendar.

Commissioned Work & Tendering Support:

• Assist in researching and identifying opportunities for commissioned work.
• Support the preparation of tender documents and proposals, including gathering necessary information, budgeting and formatting submissions.

Skills & Experience:

The ability to imagine and innovate and thereby build fundable project-based solutions working in partnership with stakeholders is more important that fundraising experience per se. This post would suit an Energy Policy graduate that has experience of either community energy or journalism (and therefore brings strong writing skills) or environmental projects

• Knowledge of the Energy Sector: Understand the energy markets and the energy industry. Also bring a good understanding of community energy, fuel poverty, and energy efficiency

We’re looking for a flexible, compassionate and organised Project Worker to join us from October. You’ll support our Winter Night Shelter, assist with guest services and casework, and lead on communications through social media and newsletters.

This varied role offers a unique insight into frontline homelessness work, while building skills in project delivery, volunteer management, and digital content creation.

• Staffing 2 evening shelter shifts per week (Nov–Apr)

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled, experienced and impactful individual to join us as a Senior Learning Manager.

Please note: This is not a traditional L&D or teaching role — we're looking for a strategic leader to drive continuous improvement and foster a culture of internal learning across teams.

In this role, you'll apply your extensive experience of leading and designing continuous improvement, service design and other formal methodologies to drive an ongoing cycle of learning, improvement and problem-solving. Drawing on Human Learning Systems principles to shape your approach, you'll unlock a wide range of knowledge and expertise to help drive impact through our strategies, ultimately leading to positive change for families in each of our Nations. In doing so, you'll also help to develop our collective approach to change across the UK.

To be successful, it is important that you have:

• Proven experience leading or supporting learning, improvement, or problem-solving initiatives across teams.
• Skilled at navigating complex organisations and working with senior stakeholders to overcome challenges.
• Strong collaborator with excellent listening skills and the ability to guide group decision-making with buy-in.
• Solid understanding of continuous improvement, service design, or systems thinking approaches.
• Well-connected in relevant UKI Framework themes or in the wider learning/improvement community.
• Willingness to travel across the UK and Ireland (approx. 4–6 times per year with notice).

At Dementia UK, we are investing in our people, systems and financial governance to better meet the changing needs of those we serve. As Finance Manager, you’ll play a central role in ensuring the integrity of our financial processes and systems, leading on fund and tax management, including relevant reporting and compliance.

You’ll oversee the administration and analysis of restricted and designated funds, ensuring accurate accounting and adherence to donor agreements and pump prime arrangements. This is a crucial role in managing our income recognition processes, refining internal financial controls and driving continuous improvement of our accounting systems, helping to shape scalable systems that support long-term growth.

Working closely with the Head of Financial Accounts, you’ll liaise with teams across the charity to ensure robust VAT and tax compliance, support the preparation of year-end financial reporting and contribute to producing papers for the Finance Risk and Audit committee.

To succeed, you will be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) with strong experience in a charity finance environment. A strong working knowledge of charity accounting and SORP reporting requirements is essential, along with experience in donor/restricted funds management and knowledge of VAT and tax. You should have experience of supervising or managing a small team. You should also be able to demonstrate an ability to manage time effectively, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience of different accounting software preferably with Sun Systems and Proactis.
