Working pattern

Background

The Food Education Network (FEN) began in 2020 as a coalition of organisations passionate about improving food education in schools and other settings to influence recommendations for the National Food Strategy.

School Food Matters is now looking for an experienced and passionate leader with skills in advocacy and communications to lead the future development of the Food Education Network and its next stage of influencing government policy around food education from early years into the secondary phase.

Main Responsibilities

The Director will build on the foundations already laid to establish the Food Education Network as a new member organisation to bring the sector together. This role will involve building close relationships with a wide range of external partners to ensure the Network is a credible voice on food education policy and is campaigning with its members to make change happen. The role will be split between governance of the network (40%) and influencing government policy (60%). 

Principle Duties:

· Define and clearly present the top policy priorities around food education and take these to politicians, the media and wider world

· Build close relationships with key decision-makers to influence food education policy

· Raise awareness of food education within the educational community

· Support the steering committee to raise funds

· Grow and solidify the Food Education Network, setting out a one-year plan with clear objectives, purpose, operations and governance

· Continue to build the membership of the Network, reaching out to organisations in the food education sector who can help add to the Network’s voice and evidence

Ideal Candidate

· Can work confidently in a start-up role to grow an organisation almost from scratch

· Solid understanding of public affairs, policymaking, and communications

· Significant experience of working in advocacy at a senior level

· Proven ability to effectively influence a range of political stakeholders and communicate complex policy positions verbally and in writing

What the job involves 

We’re looking for an exceptional nurse to join the Specialist Nurses team at Prostate Cancer UK, part of our wider Support Services team that helps men and their loved ones to navigate the challenges of prostate cancer.

First and foremost, you’ll be providing invaluable information and support directly to men and their families via a range of channels, including telephone, email, webchat, and WhatsApp. 

You’ll also work with other teams across the charity, ensuring that Prostate Cancer UK maintains a strong, credible clinical voice in all its activity. This will range from supporting men through webinars and classes, to delivering education sessions to health professionals, to reviewing health information resources, to supporting communications campaigns. 

Please note that there is no face-to-face patient contact as part of this role, and the team’s remit is contained to information and support – not clinical advice. 

You’ll be working Monday – Friday, with a hybrid working model. The service runs predominantly remotely, but periodical office attendance for collaborative work is expected. 

Current daily shift patterns are 8.45am – 4.45pm or 9.15am – 5.15pm. The appointee will need to be available 8.45am – 5.15pm daily, as shift patterns are allocated based on service requirements.  

What we want from you 

You’ll be a registered nurse with solid experience at NHS Band 6, including recent work in either urology, oncology or palliative care looking after men with prostate cancer. You’ll bring excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to organise and prioritise your work effectively and flexibly. You’ll also be flexible and adaptable to meet the complex demands of this role. You’ll show willingness and proactivity to step away from frontline service delivery to support a range of wider charity activity. You’ll also be comfortable with remote working, both in terms of delivering information and support over the phone and working in a remote team.

As a Specialist Nurse, you’ll be committed, enthusiastic and compassionate – keen to apply your existing clinical experience and knowledge to provide information and support to those affected by prostate cancer and have the desire to develop new skills.

Overview

The Dash Charity is looking for a Refuge IDVA to join its dedicated refuge services team.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a local domestic abuse charity with a huge influence and reach. For almost 50 years The Dash Charity has been supporting individuals and families experiencing domestic abuse, empowering women, men and children to recognise the tactics of abuse, break the cycle, and take back control of their lives.

We were one of the first charities in the UK to be awarded Leading Lights status for our Advocacy and Outreach Services by SafeLives, and pioneered healthy relationships workshops in schools over a decade ago.

We run three refuges that offer a sanctuary to women and children escaping violence and abuse, offering specialist children’s support and one to one support for women.

Key responsibilities:

• Identify and assess the risks and support needs of refuge clients using an evidence-based risk identification checklist.

• Manage a caseload of clients ensuring each client receives a quality and consistent service and support individual to their needs and risks.

• Support the empowerment of the client and assist them in recognising the features and dynamics of domestic abuse present in their situation, and help them regain control of their lives.

• To ensure that information is shared within data protection guidelines to ensure a co-ordinated approach is taken to understand client need/risk and support appropriately.

• To work in accordance with the Refuge Services Case Management Policy ensuring that all client records and casework are to the required audited standard as per the case management policy.

• To maintain accurate, professional and confidential case management records and databases and ensure all monitoring and evaluation records/tools are completed in a timely and accurate manner.

• To understand any grant, funder or contractual requirements pertaining to the funding of the individual post, ensuring data and outcomes are gathered to inform periodic reporting as and when required. To contribute to the preparation of any grant/contract reporting as required.

• Support colleagues and partner agencies, through awareness raising and institutional advocacy, in order to provide the best possible service for victims of domestic abuse.

• To facilitate monthly resident meetings, complete meeting minutes and any actions arising from the meeting.

• Be fully active in the research, development and delivery of all elements of Learning and Engagement activities on site, offsite and online. This will include public demonstrations and presentations, class facilitation and tours 
• Keep up to date with developments in the National Curriculum and with the Learning and Engagement provision in other museums 
• In a manner consistent with the Museum’s shared values, work with L&E staff and volunteers and with staff and volunteers across departments to create or support innovative and engaging activities and resources which reduce barriers to learning 
• Assist with the processing of L&E team bookings, producing accurate timetables for school activities and other events 
• Collate data and report as required on areas including performance, targets and individual key tasks. Assist with research and evaluation projects 
• Consult with schools and other partners to ensure the Museum is meeting their need. 
  Provide suitable feedback mechanisms, collate feedback, identify areas for improvement and 
  ensure ‘lessons learned’ are shared with colleagues 
• Provide effective, timely reporting both in writing and through presentations and discussion as required 
• Maintain relevant pages of the Museum website, produce promotional materials as required and contribute to the Museum’s social media output 
• Monitor the availability of consumable resources, ensuring supplies are ordered in good time 
• Assume devolved responsibility for budget management when required 
• Contribute actively to risk management for the department 
• Contribute to staff and volunteer training and development programmes.
• Lead on Special Educational Needs (SEN) related activities whilst fully participating in all other areas of the teams’ work

What we are looking for in our Learning and Engagement Officer:

• Educated to first degree level or equivalent experience 
• Demonstrable experience of developing and delivering formal or informal learning activities
• Experience of working with children 
• Excellent verbal and written communication, and presentation skills
• Experience of developing accessible learning activities for SEN audiences
• Knowledge of current H&S regulation including Safeguarding
• Knowledge of / interest in the history and current role of the RAF
• Knowledge of the educational context in which museum learning takes place in the UK
• Knowledge of developments in and the potential of digital and online learning

The Role

We’re launching Phoenix, a ground-breaking pilot supporting prison leavers with complex mental health needs, and we’re looking for three experienced and passionate Project Leads to drive this forward.

As a Project Lead, you’ll play a pivotal role in coordinating a dedicated on-site team to deliver high-quality support that promotes mental wellness, reduces reoffending, and empowers individuals to thrive. You’ll oversee the day-to-day running of the project, from admissions and risk management to leading team performance and developing partnerships. You’ll also work closely with our evaluation partners to shape and evidence the impact of this pilot model.

This is an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of innovation in supported accommodation — ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, person-centred environment and brings experience from the criminal justice, social care, or mental health sectors.

This is a site-based role, requiring availability across a 7-day shift pattern including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.

To succeed in the role of Project Lead, you will need:

• A proven track record in project leadership, ideally in criminal justice, social care, or the non-profit sector
• Experience managing a team and driving service performance in a care environment

About this role

As the Counselling Coordinator your responsibilities would include: -

· Developing and managing a quality counselling service which meets the needs and diversity of Essex carers, and is delivered according to the standards set out in the BACP Ethical Framework

· Line managing and recruiting staff, placement students and qualified volunteer counsellors to deliver SFBT counselling interventions to carers face to face, virtually or on the phone

· Managing all referrals into the service, assessing them against the service criteria, referring on as appropriate, and managing the waiting list.

· Monitoring, reviewing and evaluating the service regularly, ensuring it’s both meeting the needs of carers and is being delivered according to the BACP Ethical Framework

· Reporting to Service Manager and provide monthly reports on delivery for contract reports

About you

To be successful in this role you will need -

· A relevant counselling qualification (BACP approved).

· Registration with BACP or other professional counselling body

· Working knowledge of social care and health, particularly as it relates to working with carers and adults

· Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.

· Excellent customer service skills to ensure client satisfaction

· Knowledge of the challenges affecting Carers.

· Competent in use of IT (Microsoft Applications Word, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Power Bi), mobile telephony and social media platforms.

Herts Mind Network (HMN) has formed a partnership with Hertfordshire Partnership Foundation Trust (HPFT) to deliver a one-to-one outreach service for people who are in hospitals across Hertfordshire.

About the Role:

• To receive referrals from the staff at Lister Hospital.
• To manage and prioritise all administration tasks associated with the service.
• To build strong relationships with staff at Lister Hospital and Mental Health Teams across Hertfordshire.
• To work in partnership with other agencies.
• To establish a strong presence on the ward, working at the hospital when required.
• Ensure a direct community service is in place which encourages, motivates and builds patients self-esteem and confidence. This will include goal setting and support with social and practical skills development.
• To assist patients to access appropriate services and community resources within the local community, accompanying patients to attend appointments where this aids ongoing recovery.
• To work with key staff within the hospital to ensure that vulnerable person’s cases are monitored and risks evaluated.
• To work with HMN staff in other services in order to make onward referrals to other projects.
• Liaise with appropriate HPFT staff to ensure that individuals are assessed for personal budgets to support with any longer term needs.
• Support individuals to develop sustainable local social networks, both through our HMN Wellbeing Centres and other community services and resources.

Strategy

• Lead on the development and delivery of an overarching fundraising strategy for Grow
• Increase funding revenue through statutory, corporate and individual donors and build this into the fundraising strategy
