The organisation has three main aims: to provide services for women, girls and children who have experienced men’s violence; contributing to ending male violence against women and girls, and to inform and influence policy and public awareness.

About the post
The Emma Project, Daria House and Jan’s Place are specialist services providing refuge and support services to women who have been subjected to domestic and/or sexual violence and abuse, including women who have been sexually exploited, including through prostitution and who also use substances problematically.
You will work closely alongside the refuges Team Leader and Service Manager to implement and deliver a trauma informed approach to refuge services.

We’re looking for a highly organised and self-motivated woman who is passionate about ending violence against women, girls and children. You’ll have a ‘can-do’ approach and demonstrable commitment to nia’s approach to Prioritising women, upholding and promoting feminist, trauma-informed and anti-racist practice.

Job Purpose

This role is within our crisis alternative service Safe Space - an out of hours service providing a safe and welcoming space for people who are feeling distressed and experiencing crisis. The service operates 365 days a year from 12:00pm (midday) - 11:30pm across all of our boroughs. The role will consist of two shift patterns to ensure the service is covered: 11:30am-6:30pm and 4:30-11:30pm. This will be on a rota basis across support workers.

Staff within the service will provide person-centred, practical and emotional support, face to face or via telephone on a one-to-one or group basis to individuals experiencing mental health crisis. This will consist of 1:1 support; de-escalating and providing interventions, signposting for specialised or longer-term support, and delivering collaborative self-management plans with clients to improve mental wellbeing. The aim of this service is to de-escalate and prevent further crises.

The objectives of the service include:

• To improve the mental wellbeing of people experiencing mental health crisis in HFEH.
• To provide support to clients accessing the service- for instance: signposting, de-escalation, planned wellbeing activities etc.
• To contribute to an improvement in individual mental wellbeing.
• To remain a source of independent support for all clients.
• To treat service users with respect, dignity and personalised support
• To raise awareness of mental health services available with the goal to improve long term mental health and reduce social isolation
• To increase self-management skills of those accessing the service
• To reduce the use of police, ambulance and statutory mental health services whilst experiencing crisis.
• To reduce the use of statutory crisis services by people experiencing mental ill health without positive outcomes for the individual.

The Role

The role of the support workers will be to support the rest of the team in delivering interventions on a one-to-one and group basis. The role will also involve triaging and assessing all clients accessing the service, signposting and delivering collaborative self-management plans with clients to improve mental wellbeing.

About the team

At Shelter Bristol we provide front line support to over 5000 people a year, through housing advice and support. We strive for change to address the underlying systems that are causing the housing emergency. The range of support also includes legal representation, practical DIY assistance, and welfare benefits advice, so people can address their housing and other related issues. We also raise awareness of housing rights within the community so people can take their own actions and work in partnership with other local organisations.

About the role

You will have your own caseload of families, acting as their key worker and supporting them to either resettle or prevent homelessness. Your primary focus will be on households where some tailored interventions are required around the needs of the children to stabilise their housing situation and enable the family to thrive. You’ll need to provide intensive, tailored support as part of a whole family approach both in a 1-2-1 setting and through group work. You’ll also need to regularly visits clients’ homes and schools across the city liaising with other agencies in the community to provide a co-ordinated service.

About you

You will have knowledge of housing, homelessness and ASB legislation and welfare benefits that affect families and the skills to network and gather information as well as advocacy, negotiation and problem solving skills. You’ll need to be able to demonstrate that you have worked within, or understand, a safeguarding framework, have experience of managing a caseload and can prioritise, organise and set boundaries.

You’ll need to be able to use a range of IT tools to carry out your work, including case management systems, Microsoft Office applications, internet and email etc. You must also possess a valid driving licence and be willing to use your vehicle for work purposes, for which an essential car allowance will be paid.

About this role…

Thames Reach’s Outreach teams operate across London and helps those who are rough sleeping to find routes away from the street. The teams respond rapidly and work flexibly to reach people. Individuals are assessed to identify their support needs and support plans are created, including work to obtain identification, access health services and refer to other specialist agencies, including those offering immigration support.

We are looking for Support Workers to join the East Surrey Outreach Service team. 

You will:

• Complete outreach shifts, providing a rapid response to referrals for people who are rough sleeping across four districts.

• Working closely with Lead Workers and Assistant Support Workers to identify the quickest and most appropriate route off the street for people found rough sleeping, and devise plans to achieve this. 

• Provide direct support to people who are found rough sleeping to enable them to move away from the streets and into accommodation. 

• Work alongside partner agencies to ensure that clients are accessing appropriate support to access and sustain accommodation. 

• Accurately record all work completed within given timeframes. 

• Have a UK Driving Licence.

To succeed as the Support Worker you will have:

• A strong commitment to providing a high standard of service. 

• Experience working with people who have slept rough or vulnerable adults and supporting them to access services. 

• Excellent organisation and time management skills in order to remain strongly outcome focused, with the ability to coordinate a high number of cases and complete tasks promptly and efficiently. 

• Good communication skills and confidence in public speaking when representing Thames Reach externally.

• Confident in building strong working relationships with partner agencies, being able to challenge them when required. 

• Strong IT skills with the ability to use Outlook, online recording systems, Excel, and Word, using a tablet and a smart phone.

Windsor Road service offers 11 beds to people experiencing mental ill health.  We are a CQC registered residential care home. We offer individual one to one interventions and sessions such as social anxiety, anxiety, finance and budgeting, positive self-image, building self-esteem, support with diet and nutrition, healthy eating, sleep hygiene, DBT skills, building resilience, life skills, solution-based therapy, stress management etc. We offer a range of activities in our service planner including a daily coffee morning, a ‘here and now’ group, community gardening, cooking, arts and crafts, social inclusion and family and friends’ days.  We support our residents with daily living skills where this is needed, such as support with shopping and cleaning tasks, this could include prompting or supporting alongside them. We also work closely with other agencies and our residents wider care teams, so good communication skills are required. And of course, all of this is recorded on our information management systems, so good record keeping and documentation is also essential. Our service consists of 8 24/7 Recovery Workers, a Service Manager and Registered Manager.

Thames Reach’s Supported Housing is comprised of Accommodation, Housing First, Navigator and Move on services supporting people to make real and lasting change in their lives. People may present with complex mental health, offending histories, drug and alcohol needs.

Chance UK’s mission is to help support them to reduce these difficulties, find and acknowledge their strengths and talents, and to help them flourish. We do this via a structured 1:1 weekly mentoring programme, which matches them with specialist youth workers to mentor them for up to a year, alongside a range of support for their parent/carers.

Our approach is different from other services – we are there with the child and the family to understand what’s important to them, what they need, and give them the support, space and time to ensure the whole family is stronger. Chance UK’s Parent Programme Managers play a vital role in engaging parents in the mentoring support their children are receiving in order to get the best outcomes and lasting long-term positive change for the children.

We provide a range of support services for people with mental ill health to access in their local community, including outreach support, peer support and supported housing. We have been operating in the area for a number of years and offer a staffed service to our residents aged 18 and upwards.
 
We know that recovery can look and feel very different to each and every one of us. But we also know that if we provide the right support, at the right time, we can inspire recovery nationwide and that recovery is possible for everyone. That’s where you come in. 

Responsible for helping and inspiring the people who use our services to maintain their tenancy and independence in the community, we’ll rely on you to work with them to come up with a personal support plan that will see them achieve their goals and aspirations. Whether it’s developing their domestic and finance management skills or accessing work, leisure or educational opportunities, one thing’s for sure ‐ you will have every chance to shine.
 
No relevant experience is required as full training will be provided, although candidates with an understanding of mental health issues and/or lived experience would be welcomed. More important is your caring and compassionate nature and empathy and enthusiasm for helping others. Whatever your background, you’ll need to be happy to work both independently and within a team and willing to be part of a weekly rota system and available for on call duties.
 
Due to the nature of the role, a driver and access to a car are essential.

Right now, our Croft House Supported Housing service in Surrey is looking for Recovery Workers to support the people who use our services to maintain their tenancy and independence in the community. Not only are we committed to putting them at the heart of everything we do, we recognise they should be involved in decisions that affect their future too. That’s why we need you to inspire and support them to lead their own recovery. 

So, whether it’s helping to come up with a personal support plan that will see them achieve their goals and aspirations, developing domestic and finance management skills or accessing work, leisure or educational opportunities, your empathy, enthusiasm and compassion will have every chance to shine. Entering accurate case notes onto our IT system will be important too. And, when it comes to regularly liaising with GP surgeries, the local council, charities etc. or promoting the service within the community, again, we'll count on you.
