This role will oversee the organisation’s fundraising activity, building on good foundations and with a number of new activities in the pipeline to take our fundraising into the next phase. This role will be responsible for continuing the development and growth of a sustainable income generation pipeline from charitable Trusts and Foundations as well as other income streams, in order to meet the organisation’s grant making objectives. Income generation is a top priority for the Charity, ensuring we can fund as much sight-saving research as possible. The post holder will have a strong background in Trust and Foundation fundraising, but also bring experience in building new income streams and knowledge of various types of individual giving, as well as some prospect research expertise to help the organisation grow its network of potential supporters.

Role: Finance Manager-Full time 37.5hrs per week (part time considered)

Salary: circa £34,000-£38,000 FTE per annum/pro rata (negotiable)

Role Information

The Finance Manager is a key strategic role within the organization and will be part of the Senior Leadership Team.  The post holder will work at a strategic level and attend and be answerable to the Board of Trustees in the areas of Finance, Compliance and Risk and undertake the position of GDPR lead on behalf of the organization working within the wider Senior Leadership Team that includes a CEO, Business Development Manager, Training and Development Manager and Operations Manager.

As Family Gateway enters into year 2 of its 3-year strategic plan, this is an exciting time in which the Board of Trustees, Senior Leadership team, staff and volunteers will shape the future of service delivery for the community that it serves in Howdon and Wallsend and as it reaches beyond and across the North East with its Barefoot Professional Model of service delivery with steady growth in mind.  The post holder therefore will be required to have a good understanding of the political and funding landscape and be able to form good stakeholder relationships.

The post holder will manage a small core staff team and will oversee the day-to-day financial operations within the company, including Payroll, Debtors, Creditors, and Banking. The post holder will be responsible for Budgets, Management Accounts, Taxation, and all income streams including Grant Funding. In addition, the postholder will ensure all statutory and regulatory requirements are met, Companies House and the Charity Commission. The post holder will also be the key contact for auditing, and other financial needs as necessary and will track the company’s financial status and performance to identify areas for potential improvement. 

The post holder will also seek out methods for minimizing financial risk to the company and research and analyze financial reports and market trends.  The post holder will also be responsible for the management of Family Gateways assets, IT and quality assurance systems and will ensure Family Gateway is complaint in all areas of risk, governance and business.

Key Accountabilities:

• To be responsible for the oversight of all Financial Services including risk management systems and processes within Family Gateway reporting directly to the CEO.

• The post holder will stay up to date with technological advances and accounting software to be used for financial purposes and oversee all IT and data functions within the organization

• Establish and maintain financial policies and procedures for the company

• Understand and adhere to Statutory and Regulatory financial regulations and legislation, including Companies House and The Charity Commissioners.

• To oversee the day-to-day management of the organizational risk register ensuring it is up to date and prepared for sub committee

• To write and/or contribute to the writing of tenders and grant applications and where appropriate collate information to aid the reporting requirements of funders

• To manage a small core function team as directed by the CEO providing regular supervision, performance management and annual appraisals.

• Be responsible for the maintenance and management of the Contracts Database ensuring all information is uploaded or removed as appropriate and that regular monitoring of this information provides information to the CEO and other managers in order to inform sound project management delivering projects to scale, to time and within budget

• To work in partnership with operations staff and The Senior Leadership Team (SLT) supporting the maintenance of an effective IT and CRM system which in turn will measure project data and produce KPI’s.

• Liaise with IT provider to ensure Cyber Security integrity measures are in place and working effectively. Control and Monitor IT access via Role Permissions and Passwords.

• To Control and Monitor as the GDPR Lead for the organization, keeping up to date with ICO registration and guidance and overseeing a robust Data Breach Register, ensuring all staff are trained annually in line with company policy

• Produce accurate and timely financial management information on a monthly basis to support decision-making and to present information to the Board of Trustees, attending Board meetings as required

• Establish and maintain appropriate, robust and secure financial recording processes for purchasing and payment of items and management of petty cash, including Cash Floats, Fixed Asset Register, Banking, and Taxation including VAT.

• To produce and prepare annual budgets and cost scenarios for the Board of Trustees, CEO and SLT and to host monthly finance reviews with SLT

• To ensure timely payroll data is prepared, checked and processed prior to submission to third party provider and thereafter import to Finance system via journal entry. To oversee appropriate pension and insurance provision is in place on behalf of the company and that legal compliance is followed.

• Prepare ad hoc financial and activity information to support new project development plans as required

• To engage fully in management meetings, supervision and appraisals

The Fundraising Systems & Data Analysis (FSDA) team of the Development and Outreach Department of Human Rights Watch (HRW) is seeking applicants for the position of Senior Manager, Analytics and Insight. The Senior Analytics and Insight Manager will be responsible for instilling a data-driven and data-informed culture to make evidence-based decisions, increase efficiencies, improve overall departmental return on investment (ROI), grow new fundraising streams, and achieve long-term profitability.

The Senior Analytics and Insight Manager will generate, improve, and analyze fundraising data, both quantitative and qualitative, from internal and external sources to produce strategic information that supports data-driven and informed decisions, tactics, and strategies that consistently maximize HRW fundraising results. This role will feed into both the quarterly reforecasts and annual budget data and supporting methodology and collaborating with the Finance team as needed for the Development department.

This full-time position will ideally be based in either the United States or Europe, preferably in one of the cities where HRW has an office and will report to the Managing Director of Fundraising Systems and Data Analysis based in London. The Senior Analytics and Insight Manager will manage at least one direct report.

The successful candidate may have the option to work remotely but is expected to work from the office 1-2 times a week. We aim to be as flexible and supportive as possible in both the recruitment for and onboarding of this position.

Responsibilities:

Product Management Oversight: 

1. Provide strategic, tactical, and operational planning of all Business Intelligence (BI_ Systems and tools utilized by the Development Department;

2. Implement and build the BI structure of the Development Department, working closely with CRM (Salesforce) team and working with vendors as needed to understand the desired outcomes;

3. Partner with the Training & Support team to promote user adoption of BI reports by developing and implementing communication plans, training campaigns, and incentives to encourage staff engagement and utilization;

4. Ensure effective coordination and change management with Training & Support, CRM and Digital products, IT, and fundraising teams;

5. Act as the subject matter expert for all areas of fundraising reporting and respond to escalated queries and reporting discrepancies from Data Analysis Officer;

6. Develop project management processes to support the prioritization of all analysis, data selection, integration, and reporting requests, ensuring the briefing processes are understood and developing a Service Level Agreement (SLA) framework as needed; and

7. Support on Data Integrations and Application Interface Programs (APIs), including any Extract Transform and Load (ETL) processes as needed, working with the Data Quality and Integrations Officer to develop these to meet “fit-for-purpose” requirement. Support both the CRM and Digital Product Managers as needed.

Data, Analysis and Reporting:

1. Support the development and implementation of the long-term data and insight strategy for HRW which improves data quality, deepens the department’s institutional memory, and aligns with the broader HRW data strategy;

2. Develop and present actionable insights, strategic recommendations, and business intelligence from analytical output to support strategic decisions for the Development team and on investments and benchmarking activities;

3. Deliver the data and insight strategy including activity reporting, financial forecasting, specialist report development, and ad hoc analysis projects and data selections, to increase understanding of activity, supporter and financial trends and making recommendations to leadership to deliver improvements;

4. Collaborate with the Marketing Team to create data selections including recommendations on which are the best targets for direct marketing campaigns, create segments according to strategically determined criteria, data model, and develop testing plans to yield statistically significant results;

5. Work with the Fundraising Systems and Data Analysis Managing Director to build tools and reports that allow for both the forecast and budget revenue projections to be provided with ease. Create multi-year fundraising projections per main channel and audience using historical data, statistical modelling techniques, and new initiatives;

6. Collaborate with the Finance team around both the production and validation of financial reporting, including budgeting, reforecasting, and income reporting in general for the Development D Ensure that the Marketing coding / attribution processes are clearly documented and any exceptions tracked with the Revenue Operations teams;

7. Ensure that the expenditure budget for the Development Department is managed and reported on effectively, capturing the planned spending across the different teams within the department, including reporting on the actuals and investigating any variances with finance and the budget holders as needed; and

8. Ensure that the Leadership Gift data reporting can occur, through development of advanced visualizations including dashboards and ensure that hygiene initiatives are followed by supporting both the Data Quality and Integrations Officer and Relationship Manage Work with Finance on the monthly reconciliation processes.

Leadership, Training, & Support:

1. Lead improvement projects that shape the department’s effectiveness, efficiency and data-driven decision making;

2. Serve as subject matter expert to both the CRM and Digital Product Managers as they proactively assess users’ evolving system needs, priorities, capacity, and workflows, and ensure reporting needs are well articulated to inform future technology enhancements; and

3. Teach and mentor Data Analyst and Data Integrations staff to grow their capabilities within the fundraising CRM, data, and operations field.

Related Skills and Knowledge: 

1. Fluency in fundraising practices, terminology, technologies, channels, and compliance, and the ability to translate easily between fundraising end users and technology providers is required.

2. A critical thinker with the confidence to transform data and information into structured systems and reports is required.

3. Record of generating buy-in from, and exceeding expectations of, internal and external stakeholders is required.

4. Hands-on experience with data analysis, quality, cleansing, extracting, and validation (ETL) processes and tools is required.

5. Fluency in SQL or similar database query language is required. Experience with unstructured data is a plus.

6. Knowledge of both using and configuring Application Program Interfaces (APIs) to perform data integrations between multiple systems is required.

• Support the development and delivery of WorldSkills UK’s external ED&I strategy. 2. Manage the ED&I Advisory Group:

• This is a unique opportunity to work with experienced and prominent senior individuals from across education and industry who are invested in driving the agenda for ED&I.

The Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (RSTMH) is a Society of over 1,700 members from 100 countries, who work in, or are interested in tropical medicine and global health.

RSTMH organises and participates in events as a crucial way of showcasing, discussing, and debating key areas of tropical medicine and global health research and practice. Our range of events are wide. We deliver conferences and webinars, social events, research meetings for early career professionals, and high-profile debates and discussions. The Meetings and Events Manager would lead on the delivery of the RSTMH meeting and events strategy. The role requires a self-starter who is excited by the prospect of working on such a broad range of meetings and events. About the role
