This is an exciting time for the trusts team at Sue Ryder. Following a highly successful year, the team has grown its pool of supporters and is recruiting for one new member to join an existing team of four, including this post. As well as nurturing and reporting to loyal supporters, this role will focus on raising additional trust and foundation gifts of up to £10,000, helping us achieve our new organisational, five-year strategy.

A proactive fundraiser, with experience of cultivating and securing gifts up to £10,000 and a passion for building and maintaining support. You will have excellent attention to detail, strong written and verbal skills and a talent for establishing rapport. You will relish connecting trust donors to brilliant projects that require funding and be motivated by the opportunity to maintain personalised relationships with them.

About the role:

This role plays an important part in cultivating and stewarding grant givers to support Sue Ryder’s work. It offers the post-holder the chance to increase their knowledge and experience through working on a wide range of local and national fundraising propositions. With a new strategy in place, innovative and much-needed services launching and supported by a friendly team, the role provides considerable scope for a fundraiser to develop in a successful and expanding national team.

At Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice we care for children and young adults with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions. Our support services are wide ranging and bespoke to each family including end of life treatment and care, respite short breaks, counselling, sibling support groups, music therapy, home visits and much much more. 

It costs more than £5m each year to keep our doors open for families across South Yorkshire and beyond. We receive around 15% of our funding from government and the rest is sourced by our Income Generation team.  

The role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Income Generation team at Bluebell Wood and we are now on the lookout for an experienced fundraiser to join us and take on the responsibility of developing, implementing and delivering the hospice’s Individual Giving portfolio.  

This is an area with a potential for significant growth over the next 1-3 years and beyond, and we are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable self-starter to steer the next chapter of our progress and development as our Individual Giving Fundraiser.

The successful candidate will oversee the delivery and administration of Bluebell Wood’s Individual Giving income streams (in memory, legacy and regular giving) and work with the Individual Giving Manager to plan and implement a strategy to increase income growth in this area.

As the Direct Marketing Officer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the development, management, and optimization of the Lottery and Regular Giving programs through Face to Face fundraising. The organisation is expanding and is looking for a talented Communications Officer to work closely with the Director of Fundraising and Communications in a role that will be busy, hands on, and key to communicating the amazing and important work this organisation undertakes to its audiences.

Key responsibilities within the Communications Officer role will include:

• Writing engaging copy for a variety of mediums including both printed and digital
• Support the Director of Fundraising and Communications in creating and designing digital and print collateral for campaigns and events
• Lead on the design and publication of high-quality digital and print information about Dystonia UK, its services, projects, and about dystonia, the condition, and medical services.

Role Summary

As the Director of Research and Public Affairs you lead a team working across the full range of research work (including commissioning, grant-making and in-house research) and public affairs work (including policy analysis, advocacy work and mobilising our activists). You also contribute to the charity’s strategies, leadership and governance as a member of the Executive Team. Ultimately, your role is to generate new knowledge; and communicate knowledge, ideas and emotions to change hearts and minds, creating tangible reductions in alcohol harm across the UK.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Leadership, strategy & planning

1. Lead the research and public affairs functions at Alcohol Change UK.

2. Produce and deliver plans across our research and public affairs work programmes that are ambitious for change (impact), realistic given our resources, and consistent with our strategy, our other work programmes, and our values.

3. Set budgets, tightly control costs and identify opportunities for making savings, growing income and making the case for investment.

4. Appropriately monitor and evaluate our research and public affairs work with a view to knowing, growing and showing the impact we make.

Research

5. Work closely with the CEO, Policy and Research Manager, R&P sub-committee and Wales Office to determine and oversee the charity’s programme of commissioned research, research grants, and in-house research.

6. Ensure that all research is designed with impact-in-mind and, once complete, that it delivers on that impact through active and ongoing communication of the findings to the right audiences with the right messages through the right channels.

7. Lead the research function to be the central hub for the charity on the topic of alcohol harm and its solutions, staying on top of new research.

8. Influence the research spending of other agencies (e.g. NIHR) with a view to maximising funding into alcohol research in general.

Public Affairs

9. Lead and manage the charity’s public affairs activity, deploying the CEO, Research & Policy Officer and other staff as a team.

10.  Lead our work with external alliances, such as the Alcohol Health Alliance and the Alcohol and Families Alliance, and on the APPG on Alcohol Harm.

11.  Develop excellent relationships with Parliamentarians, civil servants, charities and other important institutional actors in our field.

12.  Build Campaigner journeys for our engagement audience to best mobilise them to help us with our influencing work.

13.  Lead on the commissioning and management of any external public affairs agencies, parliamentary monitoring services and similar suppliers.

World Child Cancer is seeking an experienced corporate and philanthropy fundraiser to join our growing team and play a vital role in improving the chances of survival and quality of life of children with cancer in under-resourced countries.

About World Child Cancer

Over 400,000 children worldwide develop cancer each year. Childhood cancer is most often curable, with over 80% survival rate in high income countries. However, in many low-and-middle-income countries survival rates are often 25% or lower.

World Child Cancer’s goal is to help redress that inequity and improve the chances of children with cancer to survive and thrive in under-resourced countries. We currently work with local hospitals in 12 countries in Africa, Asia and Mexico to enable children with cancer to have equal access to the best possible treatment and care through awareness raising on signs of childhood cancer, providing financial, logistical and emotional support to address barriers to access treatment, training of healthcare workers and advocacy.

Overview of the role

This newly created Senior Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager role will play a key part in raising income from companies and philanthropists to help achieve World Child Cancer’s mission.

You will be passionate about enabling children with cancer to have equitable access to quality treatment wherever they are born. We are looking for someone experienced in corporate and philanthropy fundraising, who is proactive, confident in engaging with high value funders, able to develop strong internal and external relationships, has strong verbal and written communication skills, a collaborative way of working and experience in developing new business.

You will join a small but ambitious and high performing team that contributes significantly to World Child Cancer’s annual income of c. £2m.

Bowel Cancer UK is the UK's leading bowel cancer charity. We're determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer. We support and fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care.

We currently have around 90 staff based in England, Wales Scotland and Northern Ireland.

We’re looking for an experienced and proactive online community professional to join our friendly and supportive Peer Support team. This role is part of our peer support services team and will be responsible for supporting our online peer support communities, including our forum and Facebook groups.

The post holder will work directly with the Peer Support Manager and the Senior Online Communities Officer, as well as with colleagues from across the charity to develop our online communities, helping us to reach and support more people affected by bowel cancer and those concerned about symptoms, risk and pre-diagnosis.

We’re looking to appoint an enthusiastic and proactive Senior Research Impact Officer to join our Research Directorate. You’ll join an existing Senior Research Impact Officer to support the Senior Research Impact and Intelligence Manager to find, communicate and accelerate the impact of Prostate Cancer UK’s funded research. Taking responsibility for 50% of our ‘completed and in follow-up’ portfolio of research grants, you’ll act as their primary contact, assessing the likelihood of, and proximity to, impact.

You’ll use your scientific knowledge to understand the science behind these projects and communication skills to build strong working relationships with the researchers. With your research experience you’ll develop a detailed understanding of the outputs, outcomes and impact arising from the research we funded and support our research community to accelerate their pathway to impact.

What we want from you

Your role is important to the charity, as supporting research that can ultimately deliver a tangible impact to men affected by prostate cancer is a significant focus in our charity strategy.

You’ll need to be passionate about research making an impact and hold a bio-medical science degree (or a degree in a related subject), with research experience. You can understand complex scientific information presented in reports, publications or presentations and explain these complex concepts in a simple and engaging way to a range of audiences including peers within the charity as well as men and their families affected by the disease. You’ll be motivated to consistently perform to the highest standards, with an eagerness to trial new ideas, identify new opportunities and solve problems.

In any one day you could be helping develop an impact case study for the website, interviewing researchers for project updates, supporting delivery of a research event, or using social media to disseminate the work of our funded researchers. Your primary focus will be on the impact of our funded research, but you’ll also work closely with our research funding team, as well as with other teams across the charity.

Our Talk Cancer programme trains people through interactive workshops delivered by experienced nurse trainers (face-to-face, online, and interpreted into any language), our social media channels, and our newsletter. We now have a great opportunity for someone to join us as a Senior Communications Officer. In this role, you can expect to support the effective development and delivery of Cancer Research UK's Talk Cancer training programme. This role seeks to maximise the reach, targeting and impact of the programme, as well as ensuring optimal engagement with new and existing trainees.

What will I be doing?

Responsible for key aspects of the Talk Cancer training programme, including co-ordinating all programme marketing, managing our Talk Cancer social channels, running our internal training offering and leading our efforts on targeting our training to the highest need areas of the UK.

In particular, you will be:

• Leading on promoting the Talk Cancer programme internally and externally. This includes creating proactive marketing plans and materials, generating and responding to relevant promotional opportunities, writing public-facing communications and creating engaging content. This may involve working independently or utilising the channels and expertise of other CRUK teams (e.g. our in-house design team).

• Engaging Talk Cancer trainee's by writing and sending regular newsletters and creating content for Talk Cancer's social channels and main CRUK channels

• Having ownership of all Talk Cancer web content, with the responsibility to review and update, ensuring the best search optimisation practices are used, as well as reporting on web performance

• Managing the 'Talking About Cancer' internal learning plan through updating content, responding to comments, promoting to staff, and reporting on performance

• Building and managing effective relationships with internal stakeholders who ensure the quality and accuracy of our content including colleagues in our Health Information & Cancer Intelligence teams

• Ensuring programme training content and marketing materials are in line with the latest audience insight, brand requirements and accessibility considerations.

What skills are you looking for?

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with an aptitude for creating content, and working with digital and social media formats

• Some experience of delivering communications or marketing activity

• Excellent organisation and time management skills with proven ability to juggle multiple tasks, prioritise work and meet multiple deadlines

Barbara Ansell National Network for Adolescent Rheumatology (BANNAR) started in 2013 and has been nested within Versus Arthritis since 2020. BANNAR are a group of professionals from medical, nursing, allied health and third sector backgrounds working in adolescent and young adult (AYA) rheumatology. The network aims to promote best practice and develop research in this area by working with professionals and supporting the National Youth Advisory Panel, Your Rheum.

At Versus Arthritis our mission is to ensure everyone with arthritis has access to the treatments and support they need to live the life they choose with a real hope of a cure in the future. In our new strategy, the impact of arthritis across the life course is identified as a cross cutting theme and this role will help deliver our mission for adolescents and young people.

You will be passionate about improving outcomes for young people with long term conditions, be skilled at working with a range of stakeholders and have strong administration skills. You will work closely with the BANNAR leadership team and BANNAR members but the role will sit in the Health Development team at Versus Arthritis. You will also work closely with our Research and Young People and Families Service teams.

About the role

The BANNAR Project Support Officer will support the BANNAR Leadership team and BANNAR members to maintain a valuable professional network. You will do this by producing a programme of communications and events tailored to the network’s needs and promoting the network to new members via effective networking. You will play a key role in maximising the impact of BANNAR’s work in adolescent and young adult rheumatology by supporting Your Rheum activities, monitoring and reporting the achievements of the network, and supporting joint working with teams across Versus Arthritis and beyond. You will also play a role supporting wider engagement events and activities for healthcare professionals on behalf of Versus Arthritis.

About you

If your knowledge, skills and experience include the following then we’d love to hear from you:

• Passionate about improving outcomes for adolescents and young adults with rheumatological conditions.
• Excellent administration skills and the ability to use project management skills to initiate, undertake and complete agreed workstreams.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing to a broad range of audiences.
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills – the ability to record data accurately and use it to create valuable insight.
• Good knowledge of MS Office Suite especially Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint and digital working skills.

• To work closely with the Head of Fundraising and Deputy Head of Fundraising to contribute to the development of strategy, budgets and plans across the department.
• To be collectively responsible with other Fundraising Managers for progress against strategy, budgets and plans.
• To proactively develop a culture of collaborative working in the department by effectively leading and managing a number of key fundraising projects.
• To ensure an informed Direct Mail program is delivered, maximising income through effective data segmentation, use of emotive case studies, powerful propositions and asks and appropriate donor pathways.
• To develop and lead a new approach for legacy fundraising, integrating the pathways to pledging a gift in a will through from first engagement with the charity and beyond.
• There is an option for this role to be 30 – 37.5 hour per week, rather than just full time.
