About the Role

We currently have a variety of volunteer roles including Fundraising Volunteers, Information Hub Volunteers (who support the Charity Hubs around the hospitals), and event volunteers. The organisation would like to grow the volunteer roles and introduce official Fundraising groups across The East of England to the portfolio.

These are ambitious plans and targets for the charity over the next five years – and volunteers play a huge part in that vision.

Successfully delivering this exciting new fundraising strategy is only possible with a strong team of engaged volunteers – and that is only possible if there are the right volunteer fundraisers in the team.

If successful, you will be working closely with colleagues to identify opportunities for volunteering across events, assisting fundraisers out in the community, setting up fundraising committees, and sourcing income generation opportunities at local community events. You will also be responsible for growing the pool of volunteers allowing presence across the hospital, promoting the work and impact of the charity.

You will also be responsible for co-ordinating the exciting new Hubs within the Hospital programme– ensuring that they are adequately staffed by excellent volunteers who are highly trained, and that are providing an excellent patient experience, in these crucial front-of-house opportunities.

Role Purpose

The purpose of the Fundraiser role is primarily to raise funds from UK trusts, foundations and statutory funders and to identify, generate, grow and maintain this vital income stream. Some engagement to support other strands of fundraising will be required.

​Context

The post-holder will work to the Chief Financial Officer and closely with the Chief Operating Officer and other managers of Cathedral teams. Job Description

Job Title: Fundraiser (Grants and Trusts)

Salary: £38,000-£40,000 per annum

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Research and Identification of Funders

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of our research projects and research funding plans, including in response to requests from Heads of Department and Senior Management Team;
• Research, identify and prioritise potential grants, personal & institutional trusts and statutory funders and funding opportunities, including keeping up to date with new fundraising opportunities in the faith and heritage sectors and in London;
• Undertake research on funders and grant making bodies to assess their potential for funding opportunities;
• Gather information and budgetary information from cathedral colleagues as required by potential funders;
• Develop and write high quality, compelling fundraising proposals and applications which communicate Southwark Cathedral’s funding needs clearly and concisely;
• Work with the Marketing & Communications Manager to develop a compelling case for support documents and other donor materials to attract support for our research projects;
• Develop and maintain a pipeline of applications to trusts & foundations.

Fundraising

• Secure funding from UK trusts, foundations and statutory funding bodies to meet Budgetary targets and support proposed future projects at the Cathedral;
• Support the implementation of a trusts and foundations programme, with a view to increasing funding for flagship projects alongside core unrestricted funding;
• Assist with the organisation of fundraising events as required;
• Ensure approaches to trusts and other donors are streamlined and targeted.

Contact and Liaison

• Manage the Cathedral’s donor records including gift aid declarations, personal information and legacy pledges and other non-financial information provided by donors - adhering to data protection best practice at all times;
• Liaise with the Marketing & Communications Manager to analyse the existing donor communications and suggest improved methods of engagement;
• Liaise with the Marketing & Communications Manager to arrange for the creation and maintenance of pages on the Cathedral website that highlight the fundraising activity and communicate successes achieved;
• Act as the primary point of contact for all existing and potential trust and grants funders, directing enquiries as appropriate;
• Develop a network of strong relationships with existing and prospective grant, trust and statutory funders;
• Organise meetings and events for prospective supporters and provide briefings for colleagues.

Information Management, Monitoring and Evaluation

• Maintain the Cathedral’s fundraising database, ensuring all records are updated and maintained correctly in accordance with the Cathedral’s data protection policy;
• Manage the reporting, recording and administration progress of existing grants, advising relevant members of the team well in advance of reporting deadlines;
• Work with others to develop and implement effective evaluation, monitoring and reporting processes for funders, and ensure reporting requirements are fulfilled and activities remain outcome and impact focused;
• Manage and maintain records and monitor progress of applications and relationships, including working to agreed KPIs;
• Prepare regular progress reports on fundraising and activities for SMT and the Chapter as required;
• Use the Cathedral’s fundraising database to analyse the success rates to support fundraising strategy and individual projects;
• Work with the Finance team to ensure that all funding is quickly and correctly processed and acknowledged and that financial reports are available in the appropriate format;
• Work with the Governance & Committees Manager and Finance Team to support reporting requirements and compliance with the relevant legislation and codes of conduct;
• Work with the COO and Marketing & Communications Manager to create appropriate evaluation and legacy documentation.

Other

• Manage the relevant administration that accompanies this role, including booking meetings and taking minutes as required;
• Play an active role as a member of the Cathedral team, supporting each other as required;
• Be an ambassador for the Cathedral and assist the Fundraising Advisory Panel in developing positive relationships with the Cathedral’s key stakeholders.

Person Specification

Knowledge/Experience

• You will have experience of writing fundraising bids and completing engaging applications;
• You will have knowledge and experience of heritage, community or religious grant-funding sources and how to access them;
• You will have experience of handling applications and administrative procedures for grants;
• You will be proficient in project finances, and budgeting, with skills in persuasion, advocacy, problem-solving, and decision-making;
• Knowledge of best practice in the trusts sector is important;  
• You will have strong interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills;
• Experience in a small or medium-sized charitable organisation;
• Membership of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising is desirable.

Terms and Conditions

Working Hours

The working hours shall be 35 hours per week (exclusive of meal breaks). Some out of hours working will be required to support meetings and events and this will be notified in advance. Time off in lieu will be awarded in line with Southwark Cathedral’s policy.

Annual Leave

25 days per annum as well as statutory bank holidays, with an additional 5 days (pro-rata) after 10 years service. 

Probation

The appointment is subject to the satisfactory completion of a six-month probationary period.

Season Ticket Loan

Once the probationary period has been completed satisfactorily, the person appointed will be eligible to take out a season ticket loan.

Pension

The person appointed will be eligible to join a defined contributions pension scheme managed by the Church Workers Pension Fund. The Cathedral will contribute half of the annual premium of 10% of salary.

Working Expenses

Reasonable out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Charity Fundraiser to join our dedicated team in Malton, North Yorkshire. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing fundraising strategies to support the goals of our mental health charity. About Community Counselling:

The charity was established in 2013.  It provides free therapeutic interventions such as counselling, play and creative art therapy, and EMDR (trauma) treatment to vulnerable people living in North Yorkshire, including children who have been the victim of crime. The clinical team consists of over 30 part-time practitioners, being a mixture of staff, volunteers (including trainees) and sessional workers.  Last year we helped over 800 people with a wide range of mental health issues.

As Trust Fundraiser, you'll be primarily focussed on raising funds through trusts and foundations to help Chuf deliver their ambitious 2024-27 fundraising strategy. A good chunk of this will be project based. You'll also be part of the Chuf fundraising team, so you'll be getting involved with all income generating activities. This will include assisting in the delivery of Chuf's in Memory Giving strategy through maintaining donors and providing fantastic stewardship. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for leading on the delivery of our Letter from Santa campaign, since its launch in 2001, this product has facilitated the delivery of letters to over three million children around the world and raised over £19 million, to help keep children safe. The Senior Fundraiser – Products will be responsible for:

• Continuously developing our Letter from Santa product, improving the efficiency of how we use our budget and staff resources.
• Through the delivery of Letter from Santa and other products managed by the Individual Supporters team, ensuring we raise as much money as possible every Christmas by meeting our targets, KPIs and strategic objectives.
• Communicating with the plus stakeholders across the NSPCC involved in delivery of Letter from Santa have all the information they need and the opportunity and can bring their expertise to the product.
• Ensuring that all supporters who engage with Letter from Santa are having the best possible experience we can offer.

As well as working on Letter from Santa, the Senior Fundraiser – Products, will be responsible for the management of other existing fundraising products and support the development of new ones, playing a vital role as we expand our portfolio of ways in which supporters can give.

Our ideal candidate, will have:

Meticulous attention to detail, be confident in working with complex numerical data, be experienced at cultivating internal and external stakeholder relationshipsand have experience of project or product management within the charity sector or similar size business.

We are looking for individuals who are excellent communicators, have 3+ years’ experience in a similar challenging role ideally working with HNWI.

This role will be based at St Barnabas House, however, the team works across different sites and there will be requirement for you to work at Martlets in Brighton and Chestnut Tree House in Angmering to meet the needs of the service.

When a child or young person is diagnosed with cancer, their whole world (and their family's) can feel like it's falling apart. Their anxieties are deep. Their education, mental health and social lives suffer. Their futures feel very uncertain. Young Lives vs Cancer is the only charity in the UK with specialist social workers dedicated to providing tailored psychosocial support to children and young people with cancer, and their families. About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Major Gifts Fundraiser to join our team. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for securing six-figure major gifts from individuals in a charity environment to meet ambitious targets. Your primary role will be to manage and develop relationships with wealthy and/or influential individuals and senior volunteers, inspiring and motivating them to meet objectives as per their solicitation plans. Additionally, you will manage and inspire the Philanthropy Executive and support them in executing donor cultivation events. This role is all about strengthening the already existing relationships and using already established contacts to tap into new potential donors.

You will be able to write successful, inspiring, emotive, and detailed six-figure proposals, tailored to a major donor audience. Moreover, you will support the creation of a major donor development board or committee and work towards creating a better stewardship journey for supporters. We are looking for someone who is passionate about making a difference and can bring their expertise to help us achieve our goals.

About you

You are an experienced Philanthropy Fundraiser with excellent communication skills and a proven track record of securing significant grants, or you should be able to demonstrate transferable skills. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully soliciting donations and supporting senior volunteers and trustees to do so.

You should be persuasive and credible with all audiences, including those at the highest level, both internally and externally. You should also have the ability to disseminate and present complex information clearly and compellingly.

You should also be able to work effectively under pressure and to prioritise workload. We are looking for someone who is creative in their thinking and who can apply problem-solving techniques when met with complex situations. A team player with strong cross-team working, influencing, and negotiation skills is essential.

The role:

As an integral part of the Fundraising and Development team, you will work closely with the rest of our team to secure financial income enabling GMYN to meet its income generation targets. The Grants and Trust Fundraiser will bring their own ideas to seek new grant providers and apply accordingly for delivery and core funding for the charity.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply to a range of trusts/grant giving bodies ensuring that applications are closely aligned to the objectives of the funder and that they meet GMYN’s aims and objectives.
• Ensure that GMYN is generating sustainable, unrestricted income/restricted income for programme delivery by securing multi-year grants in addition to one off gifts.
• Identify prospective trusts and other grant bodies whose aims and objectives are aligned with GMYN.
• Build and develop relationships with trusts with regular communication to deepen and nurture their support.
• Liaise closely with the fundraising team to ensure relevant case studies and marketing can be used to promote GMYN’s impact to stakeholders and funders.
• To take part in and contribute to strategy and planning meetings alongside other members of the business and fundraising team.
• Keep comprehensive records of all trust and grant fundraising activities and be able to report the impact to funders and stakeholders via various methods.
• Ensure the appropriate recognition of grants and gifts is made to ensure relationships are maintained.
• To carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities that contribute to the organisations overall aims and objectives.

Personal Specification:

You don't have to have worked in the voluntary youth sector previously. Our aim is to find a suitable candidate that can meet the selection criteria below. This can be from a past/current income generation/bid writer role, or a role with transferable skills.

More importantly we are looking for someone with genuine passion for working for a youth charity. Someone who can join our fundraising team and make a big impression, helping us to achieve our income generation goals.

We want to hire an enthusiastic person who can maintain positive working relationships with various supporters, delivery partners and all stakeholders.

Essential Criteria:

• Proven experience of bid writing or other similar income generation work with demonstrable transferable skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken with the ability to present confidently.
• Ability to self-manage, work independently to targets but also join up your work with the rest of the fundraising team.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and workstreams with a “can do” attitude in order to produce positive results.
• Experience and/or understanding of producing impact reports and reporting to various audiences, ideally funders.
• Motivation to work towards the charitable purpose of the organisation.
• Ability to effectively steward existing funder relationships to generate continuation funding.
• Competent in Microsoft office.

Desirable Criteria:

• Knowledge and understanding of fundraising methods and changing trends in the funding environment.
• Experience of researching trusts and grant funders to identify suitable income opportunities for both programme related and unrestricted core costs.
• Knowledge of the Voluntary and Community Sector and wider fundraising environment.
• Experience of using customer relationship management data bases.
