An exciting opportunity has arisen for a co-ordinator for the Flourish project in the Diocese of Chester.

As part of the Church of England’s Growing Faith initiative, Flourish aims to see a network of 450 new worshipping communities established in educational settings across England, beginning with a pilot scheme involving 40 locations in 12 dioceses. There will be 4 pilot projects within the Diocese of Chester.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of working with children and young people, together with an appreciation of the missional task facing the church, particularly in regard to engaging missionally with a more diverse demographic.

This is a part-time position for 1 day (7 hours) per week.  The role offers hybrid working that includes working from Church House at Daresbury Park, Warrington, and travel around the Diocese.

There is an Occupational Requirement for the postholder to be a practising Christian in accordance with the Equality Act, 2010. An Enhanced DBS Disclosure will be required.

Summary of the role:

The HR Assistant will provide comprehensive administrative support to the HR department, facilitating the efficiency of operations of all HR functions. This role is essential for maintaining an organised HR system and processes, assisting with data management, and ensuring compliance with HR policies. 

About the Role:

1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
2. Assist in preparing and maintaining reports on HR activities (staffing, recruitment, training, grievances and performance evaluations).
3. Accurate data entry of HR information systems to maintain data integrity.
4. Assist with data retrieval and reporting for compliance and HR planning.
5. Conduct regular audits on all HR trackers to correct discrepancies or missing documents in line with GDPR.
6. Regularly audit the HR information system (Personio) to ensure all profiles and documents are up to date. 

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

1. Education to degree level standard.
2. Previous experience as a HR Assistant, Staff Assistant, or relevant Human Resources/Administrative position.
3. Experience with HR software and database (e.g. HRIS systems like Personio, Cascade).
4. Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with people at various levels.
5. Strong ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
6. High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of the work.

One of the UK’s most inspiring and best-known faith-based organisations, The Salvation Army, is looking for a Programme Coordinator to run our Starfish Programme. Starfish is a mentoring programme designed to work with children and young people in schools, aged 9-16 years. Working within a school’s student wellbeing support, Starfish provides committed and trusted adults (mentors) to work with children and young people who need Early Help without which they would be at risk of not meeting their full potential. Their identified needs may related to their health, educational or social development. 

Key Responsibilities:

• To provide day-to-day mentoring, co-ordination, and development of the Starfish programme with local primary and secondary schools.
• To ensure Starfish operates efficiently to meet the aims of the programme to help support children and young people to reach their potential guided by a Trauma Informed Practice approach.
• Co-ordinate referrals to the programme, ensuring the receipt of all relevant information and match children and young people with mentors.
• Recruit and support volunteer Starfish mentors from local Salvation Army corps and other churches in line with Salvation Army volunteer and Safe & Sound guidelines

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

• A qualification in children’s or youth work and/or good experience of working with children and youth aged 9-16 in education and or in the wider community. Applicants with transferable / relevant skills will also be considered.
• Knowledge of issues affecting young people (e.g. education, poverty, mental health)
• Excellent people skills and experienced in working with children and young people (individuals and groups) with the ability to create and run creative and age-appropriate positive mentoring activities.
