The Role and the Team
Blue Light Card Foundation is seeking an experienced and innovative Charity Chief Executive Officer who's passionate about supporting the mental health and wellbeing of the blue light community by developing the charity’s strategy, to enable it to grow and flourish in supporting its mission.
Blue Light Card Foundation want every member of the blue light community to know that they have support, and to know where to find it in their time of need.
We fund projects across the UK to provide those that deal with the most challenging situations with quality resources, connected environments, and places that support their wellbeing.
What You’ll Do

Develop and implement strong strategic plans and put these into action in a scalable and sustainable way

Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment by actively engaging in mentoring initiatives, empowering colleagues to reach their full potential, and contributing to a culture of continuous learning and professional development

Create strategic relationships, collaborative partnerships outside the charity and act as an ambassador and advocate for Blue Light Card Foundation

Represent Blue Light Card Foundation at senior meetings within the blue light sector

Oversee and implement recruitment, selection, training, development and performance management of colleagues

Monitor the effectiveness of Blue Light Card Foundation’s work in making a difference and implement change in response to feedback and data

Ensure the health and safety and safeguarding of the blue light community is supported by Blue Light Card Foundation programmes

Ensure that Trustees are kept well-informed of key developments in Blue Light Card Foundation and provided with sufficient financial and management information to enable them to exercise their statutory responsibilities

Manage the charity budget and produce regular financial reports and forecasts

Implement sound, sustainable funding plans, oversee fundraising activities ensuring these meet the needs of the foundation

Develop and implement integrated campaigns, effective marketing channels and media strategy, reporting on impact and raising the charity presence and profile

Ensure full and accurate reporting including the preparation of an annual report and financial statements to the Charity Commission
What You’ll Bring

Senior leadership experience within the charity sector including leading teams in demanding public-facing roles
-
Experience of growing and managing charity programmes, strong governance skills, communications, events and fundraising oversight

Experience of developing strong external public relationships promoting and representing an organisation

Experience securing funds and working with funding partners and knowledge of funding methodology and related financial issues

Grant management and grant making decisions and oversight

An understanding of the key measures of financial management and control in a challenging environment

Strategic thinking with sound strategic planning, ability to articulate a clear vision and a track record of achieving targets

Strong stakeholder management skills and a management style which encourages, motivates, inspires, supports, and develops colleagues

Commitment to relevant legislation and good practice in relation to equality and diversity and safeguarding and promoting good mental health and wellbeing in the blue light sector

Purpose of the post
The Finance Business Partner plays a crucial role within HDR UK, as the key point of contact and financial support for the Institute Office teams. The Finance Business Partner supports key non- finance stakeholders to provide timely and insightful analysis and reporting and supports with the alignment of financial plans to operational and strategic priorities. The role will support the HDR UK’s non- Core funds and programmatic areas and will be responsible for proactive fund financial management, supporting the Fund budget holders in ensuring appropriate planning and utilisation of the fund expenditure. The role is responsible for maintaining clear and effective communication between the Finance team and the wider business and for ensuring that financial concepts and priorities are understood by the programme teams.
Main responsibilities
- Work with Budget Holders to manage financial performance, forecasts, and budgeting including understanding financial opportunities and risk for the area of business partnership.
- Hold responsibility for the financial management of a number of large and strategic funds, including financial reporting to funders and maximising fund utilisation.
- Lead on monthly reporting to Programme teams, including posting month end journals, meeting with Budget Holders to discuss performance and budget variance and providing commentary and analysis on reports.
- Work with the Associate Directors of the Finance team to plan, deliver, and review the annual budget and quarterly forecasts.
- Support with the continuous review and update of the 5-year financial plan.
- Support with projects and new process development to continuously improve and evolve our approach to internal financial reporting and modern finance business partnering.
- Support the Finance Business Partnering function with ad hoc reports and grant management and reporting.
- Provide training and advice to individuals internal and external to the Finance department.
- Support the Finance Officer with ad hoc queries and helpdesk needs.
- Support the Junior Finance Business Partner in utilising JET Reports to generate monthly management accounts for our Senior Leadership Team and Budget Holders, ensuring their accuracy and timely delivery.
Experience
- CCAB qualified or part qualified, or with a minimum of 4 years practical experience in financial analysis or business partnering roles.
- Experience of grant or fund management, reporting, and liaising with external funding bodies.
The following is desired but not essential:
- Prior experience of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- Prior experience of JET reporting software.
- Experience developing financial models.
- Experience of producing financial reports.
- Experience of working in the higher education or not-for-profit sectors.
Skills
- Excellent understanding of financial concepts.
- Ability to interpret complex data and apply problem solving techniques.
- Ability to support a number of different colleagues at the same time with their business partnering needs, managing competing priorities.

We are looking for an Assistant Financial Accountant to join our friendly Finance team as we continue to build our team of passionate people that rise to any challenge. We are looking for someone who would love to be part our success, as we progress our Finance transformation journey and strengthen the Financial Accounting function for the Society.
In this role, you will be involved in key processes that underpin the sound management of both the financial accounting function and the transactional accounting teams.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Playing a key role in the delivery of the month end process, including preparation and posting of certain journals.
- Preparing accurate and transparent balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assisting with deliverables for the statutory accounts and year end audit.
- Liaise and collaborate with Finance Business Partners and Financial Accounting and Transactional teams to ensure that financial policies and procedures are understood and robustly managed.
- Assist with the preparation of other external reporting.
- Participating in ad-hoc finance projects.
- Suggesting and actioning improvement to current processes when recognised.

About you
- Part qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with prior experience in a financial accounting role.
- Experience of working with ERP finance systems. Knowledge of Unit 4 (Agresso) Finance System (desirable)
- Experience in management accountant.
- Knowledge of financial accounting standards and a good understanding of financial policies, processes and controls
- Can-do attitude with an ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
- Resilient individual with a desire to deliver process improvements.
- Flexible and driven to provide outstanding support to your team and wider colleagues.
Person Specification
- Excellent and professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent IT skills and extensive experience/knowledge on using Microsoft packages, particularly Excel.
