What is the role?
Joining the organisation at a pivotal time, with various exciting upcoming projects, you would be reporting directly into the CEO. Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Overseeing the entirety of the Finance department and four direct reports
- Acting as a business partner for the Finance department; liaising with various stakeholders at a number of different levels, communicating financial information effectively
- Budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning to ensure maintained financial health of the Church
- Responsibility for the year-end accounts and audit liaison
- Ensuring all financial processes and governance within the Church adhere to up-to-date regulations; developing new policies where necessary
What do you need to succeed?
- A full accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
- Experience, or desire to be working within a charity finance function
- Demonstrable, extensive post-qualification accounting experience, having managed teams and interacted with Senior Leadership Teams, The Board, etc.
- Confident user of Excel and other accounting systems
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders at differing seniority

About The Role
The newly created Chief Financial Officer role will support Garsington Opera in driving longer-term commercial and strategic growth. Areas of responsibility will include:
Financial strategy and planning
- Collaborate with the SMT to plan, manage and advise on financial performance, maintaining a robust model to meet organisational needs including annual budgeting and long-term planning.
- Develop and maintain robust business and financial models to meet the evolving needs of the organisation.
- Steer and develop commercial revenue streams.
- Provide financial vision, strategic planning and discipline across the organisation.
Financial accounting and management
- Oversee, maintain and develop good financial reporting and statutory compliance, in collaboration with the Finance Director
- Oversee the preparation of accounts for external audit work.
- Provide information to SMT budget holders, challenging plans where appropriate and always seeking opportunities to optimise financial performance.
Leadership
- Provide reports on financial information and trends to the Board and its committees.
- Provide excellent team leadership as a member of SMT, engaging with all direct and indirect reports.
- Develop and lead effective and robust procurement policies for the organisation, ensuring that needs are understood and resourced appropriately.
- Staff management of finance team
About You
- You will be a fully qualified accountant with senior financial leadership experience.
- You will have proven experience in engaging with Board members and Executive or Senior Management Teams.

What’s in it for you?
- Salary of £80,000 - £90,000 per annum dependent on experience

Key Responsibilities include:

- Daily management of cash and optimisation of income from cash deposits
- Managing daily posting of all fees and operating bank accounts by Finance Team
- Managing the purchase ledger operation.
- Accurately managing accruals and prepayments and reporting for audit
- Recognising all non-fee/other income appropriately including donations, restricted and non-restricted
