Grants Manager
We’re looking for an organised, people-focused Grants Manager to help us deliver our grant partnerships over the next six months. Currently, this will include the Greenwich Peninsula Social Clubs Fund and pending final funding confirmation, the Woolwich Community Connections Fund. These funds are already designed, so this role is about excellent delivery: reaching people in Greenwich’s neighbourhoods, making the process easy for applicants and panellists, keeping everything on track and capturing the difference our grants make. The Grants Manager will also provide some additional light touch support to Greenwich grantees and applicants, signposting them towards further funding opportunities and connecting them to other local organisations.
What you’ll do
• Carry out community outreach in Royal Borough of Greenwich neighbourhoods to find and support people to apply for grants and to join our resident panels
• Set up and update application forms and guidance for each funding round, using our existing templates
• Be the first point of contact for applicants, supporting groups and residents who may be applying for funding for the first time
• Carry out eligibility and due diligence checks on applications, including checks on host organisations, reviews of project budgets, and basic checks of financial security and any safeguarding requirements
• Recruit and support local residents to take part in grant panels, including organising meetings and preparing papers
• Issue grant agreements and payments, and keep accurate records of every grant in Airtable
• Stay in touch with funded groups and individuals throughout their grant, and collect information about their progress and impact
• Turn this information into short updates, case studies and content for our communications
• Provide Funder Plus support to grantees and to other small grassroots organisations in the borough - this can include signposting to further funding opportunities, introducing groups to other charities or businesses already in the Greenwich Giving network, or facilitating one of our corporate contacts to come in and deliver a training
• Communicate regularly with the Greenwich Giving Board, providing updates on projects and operational activities
• Follow Funders Together’s policies, including safeguarding, data protection and information governance
What we’re looking for
Essential
• Experience of delivering a grants programme
or
Experience delivering a programme with similar levels of stakeholder engagement, administration and management - such as a volunteers programme
• Happy to work independently, and be proactive in planning and managing your own task list and the two grants programmes
• Experience of community outreach or engagement, and confidence building relationships with local residents and groups
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage several grantees and deadlines at once
• Accurate record keeping and attention to detail, and confidence using spreadsheets, online forms and databases (we currently use Airtable and Excel)
• Confidence with reviewing basic charity finance documents, such as project budgets and annual accounts
• Clear, friendly communication with a wide range of people, including small grassroots groups
• The ability to write short, clear updates and stories about impact
• A commitment to equity and to community-led funding
Desirable
• Experience of participatory grant-making or supporting resident panels
• Knowledge of the Royal Borough of Greenwich and its voluntary and community sector
We work with people and organisations who fund and shape investment in communities and civil society, supporting funding practice
