Haven House Children’s Hospice supports hundreds of families, looking after children and young people who have life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. Our mission is to provide the highest quality palliative and holistic care services to children and their families in our local communities. This is a great time to join the team at Haven House, our Community & Events team are working on a new strategy to increase income and engagement with our local community. This new and exciting role will give the successful candidate the opportunity to work across our community and event income lines, taking responsibility for raising income from a wide variety of supporters. We’re looking for an individual who can hit the ground running, complimenting a team that proactively develops and drives our community and events portfolio.

What you do  

Main purpose of post 

This role will lead our individual giving campaigns ensuring key audiences see the impact of the charity and are motivated to donate to support the continuation of our work.  It will build on existing successful campaigns, including our Christmas Star appeal, and create new and engaging additions.  You will ensure the donor journey is sensitive, engaging and straightforward and place a high importance on the ongoing stewardship of donors.

You will report to the Head of Fundraising and work alongside our Fundraising Team to ensure plans align and budget targets are achieved. You will work closely with the Campaign Manager and Data Manager to target individual giving effectively across South Yorkshire, Bassetlaw and North Derbyshire. 

This is the perfect role for anyone who loves to plan and see those plans through to completion, who has excellent customer care skills and who is digitally savvy. You will enjoy working as part of a busy fundraising team and collaborating to achieve collective success.

Key Responsibilities  

· Lead and implement the individual giving donor journey to increase the charity’s individual gifts including regular and pay roll giving.

· Lead the creation of fundraising individual giving campaigns to recruit new donors, retain existing supporters and grow reach, engagement and income.

· Lead the development of new individual giving campaigns, working closely with the Campaign Manager, to deliver direct marketing campaigns across various channels, which enhance current supporters understanding of the difference their donation makes and also encourages new supporters to donate to our cause and projects.

· To create new individual giving income opportunities, including introducing a charity lottery.

· Review and evaluate campaigns against income and impact success factors and implement improvements.

· Maximise all gift aid opportunities within the agreed audiences.

· Be responsible for an income target of a minimum of £300,000 per annum.

· Manage relationships with existing supporters to ensure a high level of donor care is achieved whilst achieving and maximising income opportunities.

· Analyse and segment the charity's supporter base, developing appropriate supporter journeys and propositions, and the effective use of supporter data for campaign purposes.

Utilise digital methods and platforms for new donor acquisition

· To assist in the delivery of a range of donor, supporter and staff engagement events throughout the year in line with our donor recognition & stewardship plan.

· Contribute to development of the fundraising annual plan to drive forward the charity’s ambitious plans for change and growth in line with the 3 year strategy.

· Ensure that all activities and contacts are managed through the charity’s CRM (Raiser’s Edge).

· Ensure all fundraising activity complies with laws and best practice governing charitable activity, most notably General Data Protection Regulations, Fundraising Regulator Code of Practice and charity law.

· Attend and contribute to team meetings and 'away days' and be an active, invested member of our team.

· Ability and willingness to travel throughout the region to attend charity fundraising events.

· Able to work flexibly, including occasionally working in the evenings and at weekends.

The Community Fundraising Manager will be an integral part of a dynamic and unstoppable fundraising department.

The role will develop and implement strategies to cultivate grassroots fundraising across the UK in support of Sarcoma UK's mission. Duties and key responsibilities

Community fundraising

• Manage and develop regional fundraising by devising a regional community fundraising strategy for income generation.
• Design and develop Sarcoma UK's calendar of annual community fundraising campaigns and events communication, including Cuppa and Cake.
• Introduce fundraising opportunities to our existing and potential supporters through a multi-channelled marketing strategy to grow levels of engagement and participation.
• Identify opportunities and recruit new community fundraisers, fundraising groups, corporate and school partners.
• Work with the Fundraising team to produce regular feedback reports and analysis on specific community products and overall revenue.
• Lead on promotion of community fundraising through digital marketing, PR, speaking engagements and on the ground fundraising.

Management

• Provide line management and day-to-day support to the Regional Fundraising Officer North, building their fundraising knowledge.
• Develop, manage, and monitor budgets for your areas of responsibility.

Income Generation

• Implement agreed KPIs, objectives and budget for the Regional Fundraising Team to drive support and engagement.
• Identify fundraising products, key accounts, and projects that will support income growth both locally and nationally.
• Responsible for monitoring and managing all income streams across all community fundraising lines including Gift Aid and working closely with the Operations Team.

Processes, administration, and reporting

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date supporter records on Sarcoma UK’s database (Raiser’s Edge).
• Ensure all recording, and stewardship processes are up to date and working across the fundraising team, wider charity and in accordance with current laws and regulations.
• Ensure necessary Community Fundraising policies are up to date.
• Follow Sarcoma UK’s processes and procedures including risk assessments to ensure a consistent approach and maintain a high level of support expected by our donors and fundraisers.
• Ensure that all activities are compliant with legislation governing fundraising including GDPR, health and safety, Institute of Fundraising, and the Fundraising Regulator Code of Conduct.

Wider fundraising

• Support company and corporate partnerships that utilise community and trade fundraising.
• Support third party fundraising and challenge event portfolio.
• Work with the Events Manager to develop merchandise and trade income opportunities.
• Support with managing merchandise supplier relationships and internal and external stock levels.

General

• The role requires some travel to events and meetings throughout the UK. Some weekend or evening work will also be required and time off in lieu will be given. Travel expenses will be reimbursed (exc. Travel to the Sarcoma UK office).
• Stay up to date with the latest knowledge in fundraising and ensure Sarcoma UK’s processes and procedures follow best practice.

Events Officer
Working Hours:  30 to 37 Hours per week

As part of a growing and dynamic Fundraising team, your main duties will be to research trust and foundations, create and send applications and steward relationship with current and future charitable trusts. Key responsibilities:

• Research and identify charitable trusts which may provide future financial support to RABI whilst maximising the potential for giving from trusts with which the Charity already has a relationship.

Person Specification:

Essential

• A minimum of three years’ experience of successful trust fundraising.
• A good understanding of fundraising disciplines.

• Able to convey complex information accurately, succinctly and engagingly.

Karibuni Children, a UK registered charity, works to help Kenyan children from some of the poorest backgrounds, to fulfil their potential and release themselves from the cycle of poverty. At any one time, we are supporting around 700 children across Kenya and our aim is to walk with the children through their whole education.  In addition to providing financial support to enable children to attend high-quality educational institutes, we work to reduce other barriers that may prevent those living below the poverty line from maximising their educational potential. This includes provision of nutritious school meals, school uniforms and shoes, learning equipment and feminine hygiene products.  We also support initiatives focused on the empowerment of the wider family unit of each supported child, such as providing workshops on parenting skills, sustainable food production, nutrition, entrepreneurship, and business skills. The charity is seeking to recruit a UK Operations Manager to support the programme of work.  The successful candidate will be one of only two paid employees, working with the Trustees to lead the charity through the next phase of its development. 

Job Description

Salary: up to £30,000 – 34,000 full time equivalent depending on experience.

Contract: Permanent / Part Time (30 hours per week)
This role is envisaged as permanent part time for 30 hours per week over a minimum of four days. However there is some flexibility in this, and consideration will be given to applicants either looking for a full time role or who can offer a minimum of 24 hours over 3 days per week. Location:The role is currently based at the Stoke Mandeville office, but this environment is shared with another charity and is not always conducive to office working. There will therefore be the opportunity for a significant element of home-based work as appropriate.

Role purpose:

To manage the UK Office activities and support Trustees in administrative tasks relating to Fundraising, Finance and Operational matters.

Key work areas and tasks:

a) To provide high quality administrative support to key functional areas such as Fundraising, Finance and Operations, ensuring that UK processes are fit for purpose to support the long-term goals of the charity.

b) To ensure the effective day-to-day running of the Karibuni Children Office, based in Stoke Mandeville, Bucks.

c) To oversee management of the new Salesforce donor database, and other IT systems (Microsoft & Google) in use by Karibuni Children and to ensure that the systems provide effective support to all functions of the charity.

d) To oversee the management of the charity website and social media channels, maximising the effectiveness of these channels to raise awareness of charity activities and raise donor funds.

e) To participate in the recruitment of volunteers

f) To promote and actively support Karibuni Children’s fundraising activities and events, taking the lead in the organisation of agreed major events.

g) To provide effective support to Trustees, Staff and Volunteers in all areas of the organisation’s activities

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Unless otherwise stated, the term "staff" will include any paid staff and volunteers. Following are the key tasks that the successful candidate will be expected to perform:

Administration & Operations

● Develop and maintain effective and efficient administrative systems

● Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines with regard to staff, equipment and premises

● Provide support to all IT (Microsoft & Google) and CRM (Salesforce) users and ensure data integrity and reconciliation to other systems

● Maintain staff records and contact lists, ensure good HR policies and practices are maintained.

● Create and maintain an asset register for all Karibuni owned items

● Assist the Governance and Risk sub-committee in any matters relating to Karibuni Children risk management

 Finance

● Assist the Finance and Operations sub-committee in any matters relating to Karibuni Children finances

● Carry out bookkeeping activities, creating banking schedules and ensuring that all cash and cheques received are banked within agreed timescales

● Oversee Gift Aid claims and ensure that compliance with regulations is maintained

● Assist volunteer Treasurer with preparation of management accounts as necessary

● Maintain records for restricted and designated funds, reconcile Charity Gifts income and other income sources.

 Fundraising

● Ensure postings to CRM are accurate and reconcile to financial systems

● Manage receipts from online sites and ensure that CRM system is updated accordingly

● Ensure that all donations are appropriately acknowledged

● Organise and manage Karibuni’s own-organised fundraising events, marketing events on internal and external platforms, registering participants, overseeing risk assessments, and maintaining related records.

● Provide a focal point for 3rd party fundraising events, ensuring proper communication and recording
(Pending the ongoing automation of some of these processes, there is the option for them to be delegated to a part time bookkeeper)

 Marketing & Communications

● Make updates to the charity website and social media channels

● Design and publish the bi-annual print and email newsletter including writing and collating stories and images.

● Write and publish regular email communications to supporters.

Other duties and responsibilities

● Promote the Vision, Mission and Core Values of Karibuni Children

● Operate within Charity Law and Data Protection Law and adhere to the Code of Fundraising Practice

● Manage systems and processes to ensure adherence to data privacy legislation

● Carry out any other tasks appropriate to the grade and nature of the role to ensure the effective delivery and development of the Karibuni Children’s work, as agreed with the Board Chair

PERSON SPECIFICATION

REQUIRED

● Empathy with the Vision, Mission and Core Values of Karibuni Children and a commitment to work to the highest standards of integrity.

● Appropriate technology skills, with the ability to manage a small estate of IT equipment.

● Good financial knowledge and awareness. Ability to analyse and interpret a variety of data and produce insightful management information

● The ability to monitor and maintain personal performance against agreed targets

● Good organisational skills including the ability to plan and arrange own work

● Effective written and oral communication skills

● Willingness occasionally to work outside of usual office hours

● Enhanced DBS check

PREFERRED

● Experience in the Voluntary or other regulated sector, preferably in an administrative, events management, fundraising and/or IT support capacity

● An understanding and interest in international development is desirable

● Awareness of key Charity Commission guidance

● Experience in finance and bookkeeping processes

● Experience in fundraising

● Experience in events management

● Experience designing and managing operational processes and control frameworks. Ability to develop, monitor and maintain quality standards.

● Project Management skills are desirable

● Good understanding of Microsoft 365

● Experience of solving data issues and report writing within a fundraising CRM system

● Knowledge of Data Protection legislation and ability to implement changes required by GDPR

Overview of the role

Our Development Manager will play a key role in supporting ThinkForward to achieve ambitious growth targets and deliver on our mission to support young people facing challenges to build a brighter, better future.

The successful candidate will be a resourceful development professional with an established network within the Trusts and Foundations community. Working closely with the Head of Development, the Trusts and Foundations Manager contributes to, and implements the Trusts and Foundations strategy to maintain and develop existing relationships, whilst proactively identifying and approaching new and innovative funders.

Attention to detail and the diligent stewardship of the RPO’s existing relationships are of paramount importance. The role requires excellent writing skills, experience of structuring persuasive cases for support, and securing significant grants from a broad range of trusts, foundations and grant making bodies. This role is open to candidates from a broad range of industry sectors and would be an exciting opportunity for someone who is looking to take the next step in their career by taking on the challenge of a more senior fundraising role.

This is a permanent position with hybrid working, based 3 days from their London offices and flexible working. The salary is £38,000 - £42,000.
