We are looking for a qualified and experienced Social Worker to provide support to children and young people diagnosed with cancer and their families. The role is permanent, 29 hours per week.
Our work is rewarding but also complex and demanding; you will need to be resourceful and resilient. You will work closely within our supportive Young Lives vs Cancer team, an established NHS multi-disciplinary team and with services in the community.
Young Lives vs Cancer is open to and in support of flexible working. Your flexibility requirements and that of the role will be discussed at the interview stage with you.
This role falls under the hybrid-variable category. Your contractual base will be both Home and The Royal Hospital for Children and Young People, Edinburgh. You will have the opportunity to work remotely / from home within the parameters of our hybrid working arrangements, but the majority of hours will be at the hospital base.

The Role
The Senior Policy Officer will be involved in a variety of exciting policy work, including the development of three new sets of standards, the evaluation and development of the revalidation framework, stakeholder engagement, and work on the regulation of online pharmacy, amongst others. This is an important role that will provide the opportunity to develop policy skills and work on interesting programmes of work.

You will be expected to commit no more than 20 days a year (often a few days at a time) depending on caseload, plus some extra time, for example for mandatory training, reading and appraisals. The daily attendance fee is £330 (with a further payment of £50 per day for lay members when they are sitting as a Panel Chair). We pay reasonable travel and subsistence expenses. Appointment starts on 1 April 2025 (initially for up to four years).

The Community Fundraising team all work from home and regularly keep in touch with weekly online team meetings, individual catchups as required, as well as in person meetings throughout the year. - To triage and respond to incoming enquiries, material requests and bookings via phone & email, efficiently and accurately.

Barbara Ansell National Network for Adolescent Rheumatology (BANNAR) started in 2013 and has been nested within Versus Arthritis since 2020. BANNAR are a group of professionals from medical, nursing, allied health and third sector backgrounds working in adolescent and young adult (AYA) rheumatology. The network aims to promote best practice and develop research in this area by working with professionals and supporting the National Youth Advisory Panel, Your Rheum.
At Versus Arthritis our mission is to ensure everyone with arthritis has access to the treatments and support they need to live the life they choose with a real hope of a cure in the future. In our new strategy, the impact of arthritis across the life course is identified as a cross cutting theme and this role will help deliver our mission for adolescents and young people.
You will be passionate about improving outcomes for young people with long term conditions, be skilled at working with a range of stakeholders and have strong administration skills. You will work closely with the BANNAR leadership team and BANNAR members but the role will sit in the Health Development team at Versus Arthritis. The BANNAR Project Support Officer will support the BANNAR Leadership team and BANNAR members to maintain a valuable professional network. You will do this by producing a programme of communications and events tailored to the network’s needs and promoting the network to new members via effective networking. You will play a key role in maximising the impact of BANNAR’s work in adolescent and young adult rheumatology by supporting Your Rheum activities, monitoring and reporting the achievements of the network, and supporting joint working with teams across Versus Arthritis and beyond. This is a partnership between Head to Toe, CPFT voluntary services, NHS community nursing teams, and charity end of life volunteering specialists, the Anne Robson Trust.

The Role
This is a newly created opportunity for you to support all aspects of bid writing, grant applications, and responding to tenders at Best Beginnings. This will include collaborating with colleagues and partners to develop and execute engaging applications to a range of funders to support our work.
You will be a confident writer, able to communicate the value of our work clearly and succinctly, ideally with previous experience writing and/or assisting with grant and bid proposals. Experience in the charity sector is not essential but highly desired.
Working with the Head of Fundraising, you will focus on identifying new funding opportunities, planning approaches, gathering information, and writing high quality, compelling applications, to generate additional income for us to further develop our services.
You will also be identifying appropriate funding sources for organisations we support, providing them with guidance on writing high quality applications, planning their year, and developing a suite of resources with the communications team to enable this.
You will need experience of writing content and developing applications to large and small funding bodies. You will be able to evidence securing income and be skilled in presenting complex project information in a clear and engaging way.
