We are looking for a Membership Engagement Administrator to join our South West region team. 

Our Membership Engagement Team provide support, advice and guidance to ensure that our members can continue to be the force for good in their communities. This role will see you play an integral part in helping the Membership Team to be the best they can be!

This role will see you providing administrative services to the South West Membership Engagement team covering Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Somerset and Wiltshire. You will be supporting your designated areas counties, districts and branches. Reporting to the Membership Engagement Manager, some of your key focuses will include:

- Supporting the Membership Engagement Officers in ensuring that stakeholders and members are compliant
- Providing a range of reports and updates to the Membership Engagement Manager and Head of Membership Engagement
- Producing the template and compile the content for the production of county / district newsletters
- Managing database of volunteers, ensuring that training and DBS checks are completed and up to date
- Maintaining communication with active volunteers, including a regular regional update bulletin

In this role, you will be contracted to your home address, and you will perform most of your work remotely there, with occasional travel within the region covering Cornwall through to Hampshire (incl. for monthly team meetings).

We are seeking a creative and conscientious communications leader with exceptional attention to detail and demonstrable expertise in developing and delivering high-impact strategic communications outputs in the international development or third sector. We are a relatively small team and are therefore looking for someone who is both highly strategic and able to see the ‘big picture’, while also being happy getting stuck in at an operational level to ensure timely, on-budget delivery of outputs. Experience of working with or within networks or membership organisations would be a particular asset in this role. Practical Action is an international development organisation putting ingenious ideas to work so people in poverty can change their world. For the past eight years, Practical Action has been hosting and building the Global Distributors Collective (GDC): a collective of 300 last mile distribution companies that cumulatively reach millions of the poorest consumers in the world with beneficial products like solar lanterns, water filters and improved cookstoves. Therapeutic Management

In this role you'll play a key part in supporting the Finance team to make sure all of our financial information and processes runs smoothly and are up to date.

Our Maintenance Team is a vital part of the Asset Management function, working across multiple properties to ensure residents have safe, secure, and good‑quality homes. The team works closely with service staff to identify and complete repairs, carry out ad hoc cleaning and decoration, ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, and prepare empty properties for new residents.

We operate across Brighton, Guildford, East Sussex, and West Sussex, with our services centred around Foyers in Hove, Eastbourne, Hastings, Guildford, Horsham, Worthing, and Crawley. These sites provide 24‑hour supported housing for young people aged 16–25.

In addition, we manage a number of larger shared houses (typically accommodating 4–8 residents) through our Transitional Housing teams, supporting young people as they move towards independence.

This is an important central role, responsible for ensuring the efficient delivery of repairs, servicing, and routine maintenance across our property portfolio of approximately 600 bed units, alongside a number of service and office properties, to provide a positive experience for both residents and staff.

You will be accountable for raising and managing repair requests and void works, coordinating a skilled in‑house repairs team and external contractors, maintaining accurate records, producing performance data, and delivering high‑quality administrative and operational support. The role also plays a key part in supporting compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

You will respond promptly to any reported incidents, accidents, or concerns, carrying out thorough checks and taking appropriate action to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone on site. You will also take a proactive approach to preventing anti‑social behaviour, working closely with support staff to maintain a positive environment. We are appointing a Senior Rails Engineer at a pivotal moment, joining as a senior individual contributor with strong influence on product planning and the roadmap, owning two products in the TEP ecosystem, and acting as the senior technical reference point for the wider development team.

You will work closely with our fractional CTO and the TEP Director to translate strategic priorities into well-built software, helping us actively embed AI-assisted development practices that we believe will significantly change how our team works over the next two years. Supporting our early- to mid-career developers in their work comes alongside the technical role.

 We are a small, mission-driven team and this is a high-trust, high-ownership role. The right person will care about the quality of what they build, be genuinely curious about the problems schools and trusts are trying to solve, and be excited about using AI tooling not as a shortcut but as a genuine accelerant for good work.

• A proven, established codebase. Three years of well-considered Ruby on Rails development serving 600+ schools across the UK, Australia and the UAE, with active users, real data, and a roadmap shaped by partner feedback.

Role responsibilities

You will write production code day to day, own architectural decisions across your scope alongside the fractional CTO, and act as the senior technical reference point for the development team.

Platform development

You will:

• Write well-tested, high-quality code using Ruby on Rails and front-end technologies, delivering features, fixing bugs and addressing technical debt.

• Take ownership of architectural decisions on the platform, working with the fractional CTO to ensure they are sound, well-reasoned and documented.
• Balance delivery pace with code quality. We want to move fast without accumulating debt.

• Lead on security and platform performance workstreams.

• Collaborate with the Director and fractional CTO on roadmap prioritisation, balancing new features, fixes, security and technical debt with a clear view of capacity and complexity.

• Translate product priorities into well-scoped, well-estimated technical work, developing cards, running planning sessions and ensuring the team has clarity on what they are building and why.

• Engage in sprint planning and retrospectives, contributing to how we continuously improve our delivery cadence.

• Bring your own perspective on where AI tooling adds value and where it introduces risk. We want someone who uses these tools critically and thoughtfully.

This is an exciting opportunity to join GamCare at a pivotal moment, as the organisation launches a new programme focused on preventing and reducing gambling-related harm experienced by individuals affected by another person’s gambling, known as “Affected Others”.

This new role, funded by the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID), is an opportunity to develop guidance and resources for Affected Others and professionals, alongside designing and delivering peer support services and training. The programme will prioritise support for key groups across England, including men, young adults (18–25), neurodiverse individuals, LGBTQIA+ communities, and people from ethnic minority backgrounds.

As a Development Coordinator, you will be responsible for producing high-quality guidance, resources, and service developments, ensuring that safety is embedded across all outputs and that lived experience voices inform all aspects of the work.
