Role Overview: 

As the People Business Partner, you’ll report to the Director of People, Finance, and Governance. You will lead on setting up and delivering a value-added people centric business partnering service. Who we are:

The Dalit Solidarity Network is a small human rights organisation working to eliminate caste-based discrimination in the UK and South Asia. Registering as an official charity in 2003, Dalit Solidarity Network UK continues to grow as an effective campaigning and advocacy organisation, working on the issue of caste discrimination in the UK and being an active player in the global movement.  Our major areas of work include documenting 'everyday casteism', building capacity of businesses to address caste-discrimination in overseas supply chains and UK operations and working with UK Higher Education Institutions to protect against caste-discrimination.

About the role:

We are seeking a part-time Office Administrator for 2 days/week, initially for one year with a possibility of renewal. The hours can be worked flexibly with prior agreement of the Director. Hybrid-working arrangements (from home and on site) will be considered.  

Main responsibilities:

Administration:

· Responsible for day-to-day administration and office management and providing secretarial assistance to the Director & diary management.

· Maintenance of files and records both physical and computerised system filing and computerised database systems and email lists.

· General office management including scheduling meetings, arranging travel, managing expenses, liaising for office management, ordering office supplies, etc.

This is an interesting and varied role providing administrative support across the organisation.  As the first point of contact within the organisation you will be responsible for liaising with a large range of stakeholders from supporters to Members of Parliament.

1) Overseeing Financial Management, Reporting, and Monitoring (60%):

This is an exciting time to join the Sales and Marketing Team and there is an opportunity to make a real difference within an established national cultural education charity.

The Marketing and Development Officer will support our Sales Team to sell Theatre and Film Festival participation to schools through the production of high-quality written communications and design work. These skills will also be put to use in supporting the charity’s individual giving income stream, wider profile-raising activities, and merchandise sales.

Key responibilities:

Marketing and communications: Working with the Sales and Marketing Manager, and Programmes Assistant, you'll increase Coram Shakespeare Schools Foundation's profile through our nationwide Theatre Festival, and social media platforms. You'll engage prospective donors with our work and update our audiences through monthly newsletters.

Fundraising: Working with the Head of Coram Shakespeare Schools Foundation, the charity's Fundraising Consultant and the wider Coram Group, you'll help the charity to acquire, engage and steward individual giving donors.

Systems: You'll support the entire organisation through the management and iterative development of Coram Shakespeare Schools Foundation's systems, working with the charity's web developer to upgrade its online presence, and supporting the maintenance of accurate records on Salesforce.

Other: You'll lead on sales of the charity's merchandise, and its partnership with Festival photographers, Splaat Photo. You'll work to support and propose new fundraising ideas and take a key supporting role in the delivery of events throughout the charity's calendar.

The successful candidate will be required to provide legal advice across areas of law including but not limited to information law, intellectual property, contracts, procurement, trusts, charity, litigation, insolvency, subsidy and state aid, public law and judicial review.

In addition to providing substantive advice, the role requires a Senior Solicitor to be able to research and upskill on new areas of law quickly. Further, it is expected that the Senior Solicitor will use his or her legal knowledge to improve the Fund’s internal processes and precedents, and ensure that the Fund complies with statutory and regulatory frameworks at all times.

The bulk of the Senior Solicitor’s workload will consist of autonomous matters and legal queries. These will need to be answered in a timely manner. Further, the Senior Solicitor will also work on larger scale projects where the opportunity arises.

The Senior Solicitor will be working in a team of 6 within the AID team and 14 within the wider legal team.  The role does not include any line management responsibilities. 

Experience working in a fast paced in-house or private practice environment would be ideal, as would experience dealing with a range of clients, and experience with public law or public bodies. The Start Funds MEAL Officer will work with colleagues within both SCUK and Start Network. Previously (until May 2019) Start Network and Start Funds and Programmes were hosted by Save the Children UK (SCUK) since its creation in 2012. The position sits within Save the Children UK as a Grant Custodian on behalf of the Start Network supported by a Grant Custodian Agreement (GCA) which describes the roles and commitments of each entity. 

About the role

The Start Network funds have a robust monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) portfolio to strengthen evidence-based learning, performance and overall accountability towards the people affected by or at-risk of crises, donors, members, and partners.

Reporting to the Crisis Financing MEAL Lead, the CARF MEAL Officer will play an important role to support the ongoing MEAL activities of anticipation, early action and risk financing initiatives, with a larger focus on the impact of Start Network's newest finance mechanism, Start Ready.

This role will particularly focus on MEAL requirements and activities funded by European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operation (ECHO) and will support and work closely with CARF MEAL Advisor and the Learning and Research Advisor (within the Evidence and Learning Team).

In this role, you will: 

Performance

• Support development, monitoring, and reporting of anticipation, early action and risk financing initiatives' Key Performance Indicators used in donor reporting, governance committee meetings and in other external fora as required, with a specific focus on MEAL requirement and activities funded by European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operation (ECHO).
• Strengthen management information systems and processes for data quality, storage and visualisation.
• Contribute towards the identification and implementation of diverse and innovative approaches to MEAL.
• Support the annual post-season learning reviews of the various Disaster Risk Financing systems.

Accountability

• Deliver and enhance Start Funds' quality, accountability and monitoring practices to members, partners and affected populations by organising and facilitating learning debriefs and pre/post season workshops and reviewing project report forms.

Knowledge

• Contribute towards continuous improvement of technical quality, processes and outputs of CARF MEAL including, but not limited to, the development of methodological guidelines, MEAL tools and approaches.
• Produce and support various thematic research, reviews, case studies and learning products according to the CARF MEAL work plan.

Teamwork

• Liaise with Senior Strategic Partnership Officer –ECHO and programme/operational staff to support all ECHO MEAL requirements.

About you

To be successful, it is important that you have:

• Previous experience delivering MEAL in national and/or international contexts for humanitarian or development programmes.
• Previous experience of reporting on donor or funders grants (ideally ECHO Grants) in an international organisation.

• Proven experience of embracing new approaches, technology and ways of working.
• Experience of using qualitative and quantitative analysis software.
