Chefs in Schools is a young, ambitious charity that’s rapidly growing. Our mission is to improve kids' health through improving school food & food education. About you and the role

This role will take our charity’s mission to a wider audience at an exciting time of development and growth. For a small communications team, we punch above our weight - regularly hitting the headlines, getting featured on agenda-setting news shows, receiving pro-bono support from renowned agencies such as Bartle, Bogle & Hegarty and Indigo Eight, and with high-profile influencers such as Prue Leith, Henry Dimbleby and Thomasina Miers in our corner.

Now we need someone with great media contacts, or the know-how to forge them, who can ensure a steady stream of coverage that gets all of our campaigns in front of our key audiences. You’ll be working on exciting projects, experience some incredible food and be surrounded by an ambitious, diverse and dynamic team, all passionate about the power great food and food education in schools has to shape and change young lives.

Key responsibilities:

● Work with the Head of Communications to develop and deliver content, media opportunities and campaigns that help us raise awareness of our cause and achieve our wider strategic goals.

● Evaluate the success of campaigns, setting and tracking key metrics, feeding learnings back into future work in a cycle of continuous improvement.

Skills & experience:

● You have interest and belief in our mission to improve kids’ health through improving food and food education in schools.

● 3+ years prior experience in a similar role.

● You are organised, methodical, strong on detail, and able to map out deadlines and plan ahead.

● Ideally you’d have some experience of line management, a ‘must’ is a commitment to developing the team.

● You have proven success designing and delivering communications plans and campaigns.

● You have experience successfully pitching stories and/or collaborations to media, journalists and influencers.

● You understand how to create engaging content - both written and visual.

The recruitment process

Clinical Psychologist

Parenting and Creative Therapy Service

Contract: Permanent, 21 hours per week

0.6 WTE, 3 days per week - location: Coram campus, London

Coram Parenting and Creative Therapy Service offers art, music and drama therapy, therapeutic

parenting, clinical psychology and family therapy to children and families at our dedicated creative

therapies centre, in schools, and at home (online). We work primarily with adoptive and connected

carer families, and children who have low level mental health difficulties. We are a trauma-informed

service, and are developing Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) approaches in our work and

have specialist expertise in neuro-diversity and children with special education needs. The well

established team has a strong track record in therapeutic interventions, including music therapy and

narrative therapy based multi-family groups for younger children who are adopted or with a Special

Guardianship Order. We are developing partnerships with universities - Newcastle University and

The Institute of Contemporary Music and Performance and are piloting research based creative

therapy interventions. We work within very diverse communities and we consciously challenge

ourselves and our practice , seeking at all times to be inclusive and anti-racist. We welcome

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Clinical Psychologist to provide therapeutic multi-disciplinary assessments

and interventions in our work with adopted and Special Guardianship Order (SGO) families. This

work involves trauma informed approaches, using DDP, narrative, family and life story work. The

team is led by a Clinical Psychologist who will provide supervision for this role. The team provides

creative, relational, and evidence based approaches collaborating with wider networks and reaching

schools and communities to inform child centred and trauma informed practice. The post offers a

unique opportunity to work alongside skilled creative and family therapists. We seek to empower

children and families using strengths based narratives, as well as accepting vulnerability and seeking

opportunity for connection, strengthening resilience and support.

The successful candidate will be a clinical psychologist that is skilled and experienced in working with

developmental trauma, and child and family work and operate with initiative and responsiveness in

a dynamic professional environment. A background in CAMHS and/or a social care services would

be desirable. Experience of running multi-family groups would be an advantage. They will be a

supportive professional, a team player and enjoy working in a diverse, respectful and challenging

Background

Chapter One is a dynamic, growing charity with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills needed to thrive. Our mission is to close the reading gap by providing children with one-to-one support at the time they need it most. We work in eleven areas/regions of the UK and will support 3250 children in 2024-25.

Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme pairs struggling five to seven-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who are working professionals. The volunteer ask is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability.

From a school perspective, online reading volunteers provide direct, meaningful literacy support for up to 10 pupils per class. The programme is particularly suitable for communities where it might be challenging to find parents and other volunteers who can commit to physically visiting schools to boost reading.

Job Summary

Chapter One is seeking a Birmingham/West Midlands Programme Manager from September 2024 who is an excellent communicator and is able both to motivate and support schools and teachers to implement our online reading volunteers programme, and also to ensure that the programme’s impact and benefit to disadvantaged communities is maximised throughout the academic year.

The post is ideal for someone looking for part-time, flexible, term-time only work from a home base and who is able to travel frequently around the Birmingham and West Midlands area. The postholder will be joining a team of established Programme Managers (also part-time) who work in different parts of the UK and will need to have some flexibility to work additional hours during busy autumn months, and conversely to work fewer hours during quieter periods of the year.

Key Responsibilities:

• Effectively explain Chapter One’s online reading volunteer programme and its benefits to school leaders and teachers

• Install, setup and maintain Chapter One equipment in participating classrooms

• Fully understand the operation of the Chapter One platform and database and communicate this to others

• Organise and conduct initial teacher training and follow-up

• Ensure a smooth initial launch of Chapter One’s programme in every classroom

• Liaise with colleagues performing technical and volunteer support roles

• Through regular visits to/contact with schools, provide on-going embedded professional learning and support to teachers throughout the year as needed

High Trees are a charity working across 5 thematic service delivery areas and teams (Education and Training, Employment and Careers, Children, Young People and Families, Community Action and Research and Sector Support). ReachOut is a national mentoring and education charity, rooted in local communities. Working in under-resourced areas, we support young people to grow in character and confidence, sparking change in themselves and society. 

Our Youth Project Leaders are individuals who are passionate about working with young people, supporting them to reach and be confident in their potential. You may be an experienced youth worker, or have experience facilitating sessions or working with young people and leading volunteers.

As a Project Leader, you’ll be facilitating weekly after-school mentoring sessions, leading a group of mentors and working with young people referred to ReachOut by their schools.  You can find the full job description below, or in our application pack.

As part of the ReachOut team, you’ll have an enormous impact on the lives of the young people you’ll be working with. Every year we see mentees grow in confidence, develop their character and learn new skills for the future.

You’ll be supported throughout the year by our team of Project Officers as well as receiving thorough training on how to lead a ReachOut project. You’ll also have access to free, tailored training opportunities where you can learn and refine new skills as well as working with your own career mentor if that’s something you’d be interested in.

We also run celebratory events, socials, networking and training sessions throughout the year - opportunities to meet other people who are passionate about working with and supporting young people. 

Your Job Description 

As a Youth Project Leader, you will: 

• Deliver ReachOut sessions at the same partner school on the same day and time weekly during term time.

• Prepare your ReachOut sessions, following ReachOut’s curriculum and adapting the activities to the needs and interests of your assigned group.

• Facilitate engaging ReachOut sessions for the young people attending by ensuring that the voice of young people is listened to and impacts the way the sessions are planned and facilitated.

• Manage and support a group of volunteer mentors; supporting them to build strong rapport with their mentees and helping them to understand how to best adapt their mentoring approach to the young people they are working with.

• Support theyoung people in your session to reach and be confident in their potential by facilitating the creation of good mentee/mentor relationships and by running activities to build the ReachOut Character Strengths.

• Complete monitoring and evaluation activities to ensure the sessions are as impactful as possible and set up strategies with the help of your line manager to help each young person in your group reach their mentoring goal.

• Keep in touch with the parents/carers of the young people in your group about attendance, successes and challenges.

• Manage your project’s weekly admin by planning your sessions, maintaining your attendance and providing detailed project updates to your line manager.

• Attend ReachOut events and socials with their mentors. • Follow ReachOut’s policies/procedures to safeguard young people.

• Act and communicate in a professional manner, in line with ReachOut character strengths and culture.

• Attend all compulsory training.

The Trusts and Foundations Officer will support the Trusts and Foundations team to meet income targets and develop and maintain relationships with donors and prospects. The role combines supporting the Trusts and Foundations Manager, Senior Trusts Officer, and Head of Fundraising with the maintenance of existing relationships as well as generating their own income from both smaller and larger trusts. The successful candidate will demonstrate success in securing grants from charitable trusts, foundations, and institutional donors. Proven experience in trust and foundation fundraising, preferably within the nonprofit sector or a similar environment is essential.

Often the first point of contact for our clients in Lambeth and Southwark, the Information and Advice Service aims to provide support for residents who may be experiencing social-isolation, low mood, anxiety or depression. The service handles over 1500 enquiries a year from people seeking support for a range of issues including welfare benefits, housing and homelessness, advocacy, family support, disability and legal advice in addition to accessing our mental health and befriending services.

As one of two Advice Service Coordinators, you’ll support volunteers to ensure that the service is running efficiently. You will be in regular contact with clients both interested in and accessing the service to make sure they have adequate support. This may include referrals and signposting to additional or alternative mental health and social support services.

You’ll also maintain the online Community Information Network (COIN) directory, which includes vocational and social opportunities for adults with long term health conditions who are looking for paid work, to move closer to their vocational goals or consider social and leisure opportunities.

Applicants should have experience of providing specialist advice in benefits and housing, managing a diverse caseload and providing advocacy, and possess effective communication skills. An ability to work independently but collaboratively, to be proactive and show initiative is essential for this role.

Successful applicants will be expected to undergo an Enhanced Level Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Rays of Sunshine exits to brighten the lives of seriously ill children aged three to 18 across the UK by granting magical wishes and providing ongoing support within the community. Our work creates a positive distraction, reduces isolation, improves self-esteem and creates precious memories and smiles.

You will be joining a small but passionate team, full of positivity, energy and drive to succeed and we need someone who will be a part of our success, helping to achieve our new vision for the charity to ensure we can creating lasting memories for all children and young people with a life limiting illness.

In this role you will be responsible for working across corporate partnerships, major donors, trusts and foundations, with a prominent focus on supporting with account management of existing partnerships and developing our pipeline of prospects. The charity has a history of success in these areas and we would love to have someone join the team to build upon this success.

Ideally the candidate would have existing experience in corporate partnerships, but we are open to candidates with experience in one or more of the fundraising disciplines mentioned above, with a willingness to develop their skills and experience, through a supportive, coaching and a mentoring leadership style.

Key Responsibilities

Partnerships

• Support with creating proposals and pitches to secure Brand, Corporate and Commercial Partnerships, with a strong focus on shared purpose and mutual benefit, to create successful long term strategic partnerships.
• Support with relationship management of current partners of Rays of Sunshine, ensuring they have materials to aid their fundraising.
• To manage the input of corporate partnership data on the CRM system (currently Donorfy).
• Manage the updates to the corporate pipeline master document, ensuring appropriate actions are met within deadline.
• Supporting the Corporate Volunteer Researcher to undertake the necessary research to support our pipeline of approaches.

Philanthropy

• Creating supporter updates and reports to demonstrate the impact of funding received from our Patrons and Major Donors, providing excellent stewardship to existing donors.
• Provide support with the event planning of major donor events, and attend in person to provide support of events on the day. 

Trusts and Foundations

•  Support with research and the successful completion applications to secure donations from a pipeline of identified Trusts and Foundations

Stewardship

•  Identifying new opportunities to create wow moments for donors and provide excellent stewardship of all major donors and partnerships.

General

• General administrative duties, including record meeting notes and actions, following up with partners, sending out of promotional materials, monitoring and responding to email enquiries, and taking telephones calls.
• Any other duties to support the success of the fundraising team.
