Our client, a leading London university, is looking to appoint a temporary Library Assistantto work in a small team within the Subject Liaison Team, providing support for the work of the Subject Liaison Librarians, with particular focus on course resource provision, collection management activities (digital and print) and supporting the information skills programme provided by the Team.

This is a part time role, 25 hours per week, to cover a career break. It will run from early June 2024 to mid July 2025 in the first instance. There is a hybrid working option, with minimum 60% of your time on site, including Tuesday and Thursday. 
Previous experience of working in a library of information environment is essential, as well as experience of searching for library materials using an online public-access catalogue (OPAC).
Main duties will include:

• Supporting the course reading provision cycle, using the university’s library system
• Collection management (digital and print)
• Customer Support and Library Skills delivery.

The Head of Scotland and Northern Ireland is responsible for leading our vision to end the need for food banks in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Scotland currently leads the way in having a rights-based, progressive agenda to ending the need for food banks, but there is much to do to ensure political intentions become a reality. This role directs Trussell Trust’s policy and public affairs work in Scotland and Northern Ireland, leads our Scotland and Northern Ireland department as they support our network of food banks and works strategically with key partners to tackle the underlying reasons why people need to come to food banks.  

Based in Scotland or Northern Ireland, with travel around the UK as necessary

Role responsibilities 

• Lead the delivery of the Trussell Trust strategy for ending the need for food banks in Scotland and Northern Ireland, working to embed the Changing Communities, Changing Minds and Changing Policy programmes across the network, including through providing strategic support for the effective delivery of the Pathfinder, FI and organising programmes in Scotland and Northern Ireland. 

• Work with key partners to direct Trussell Trust’s policy and public affairs and work with the Scottish government and local authorities across Scotland. 

• Facilitate the sharing of learning from Scotland to help shape our long-term policy and public affairs work in Northern Ireland. 

• Lead the Scotland and Northern Ireland department to ensure the safe and effective operations of the food bank network. 

• Work with our Head of Strategic Church Engagement to deliver a church engagement strategy that will mobilise the church in Scotland and Northern Ireland to work to end the need for food banks. 

• Work with the Policy, Research and Impact, and Network Programmes and Innovation directorates to ensure effective cross-departmental working on policy and research opportunities, strategic priorities, church engagement, external partnerships and impact reporting. 

Person Specification 

Technical skills and minimum knowledge: 

• Senior level experience of leading delivery programmes nationally and locally. 

• Senior level experience of directing policy and public affairs programme nationally and locally, and representing the Trussell Trust to senior government representatives, national stakeholders and the media.

Events Officer

About the role

The Events Officer plays a key role in our highly effective communications team, leading on the delivery of an impactful programme of events – both online and in person. The role works with teams from across the organisation to plan, deliver and promote all types of events, including workshops, roundtables, conferences, webinars, receptions and other types of online and in person events.

Events are an important way for Ageing Better to influence priority audiences, including businesses and local and national government, and the postholder will advise teams on how events can best reach these audiences, encourage engagement and lead to lasting relationships.

This role sits within the Communications team, and the postholder will be responsible for drafting comms content, such as blogs and social media posts, particularly in relation to event promotion.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION AND PURPOSE OF THE POST

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations

• Be responsible for the operation and maintenance of office equipment and IT equipment for all staff and volunteers, and arrange their repair or replacement, in conjunction with the Finance Officer and the Accounting Officer, as need arises
• Act as principal contact person for HI UK’s IT infrastructure and support provider, helping colleagues to access IT support when required and developing and implementing the organisation’s IT strategy
• Manage budget lines associated with running of the office and participate in procurement, primarily of office and IT supplies, liaising with external suppliers.
• Act as designated Health & Safety Officer for the office, including ensuring Health & Safety policies are up to date and being adhered to
• Continually review systems in place within the office, make improvements where required, and communicate these to relevant people

Human Resources

• Provide administrative support and advice for the recruitment of staff, consultants and volunteers, including advertising, interviews, issue of contracts and inductions, liaising with the federation manager and recruitment teams when relevant
• Assist with other HR tasks, including managing staff and volunteer files, managing the HR information system, administrative support for payroll and contributing to updates of the staff handbook

• Maintain an up-to-date welcome kit for new starters and provide and coordinate induction training sessions

· Make sure that HR policies and internal processes are updated and well known by all the staff

Amnesty Tech is a programme in Amnesty International Secretariat (the movement head office) Research and Policy Directorate with a mission to protect and extend human rights in a world of rapid, technological change.

Amnesty Tech is seeking a consultant to specifically work with our Children and Young Peoples' Digital Rights, Health and Well-being (CYD) team. The CYD team work on delivering the RIGHTS Click programme. The overarching vision of this team is of a world where online platforms and other digital technologies are safe, healthy and supportive spaces for children and young people, helping them realize their human rights.

The consultant will work collaborate with Amnesty Tech's Children and Young people's Digital Rights, Health and Well-being (CYD) team. The vision of this team is a world where online platforms and other digital technologies are safe, healthy and supportive spaces for Children and Young people helping them realise their human rights.

PURPOSE   

The consultancy is intended to deliver policy research into the various measures designed to tackle the creation and/or dissemination of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) on the internet that have been proposed in legislation in a number of jurisdictions.

The assignment would include:

-Review of our current policy positions to see how they would inform a position on these approaches to tackling CSAM, including our policy on consensual teen sexual activity, opposition to the weakening or breaking of end-to-end encryption (E2EE), etc.

-Review of proposed strategies for tackling CSAM in key jurisdictions including the EU, UK and USA, as well as any other countries or multi-lateral initiatives (such as the UNODC) proposing measures that will have an impact on human rights and digital rights.

-The human rights implications of these measures, for instance how weakening encryption or client-side scanning poses risks to children's right to privacy, but also all users' right to privacy and also poses risks to the right to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly in repressive contexts.

-The pros and cons of the proposed strategies and whether or not they are consistent with human rights, particularly the rights of the child, and digital rights.

-The research should also consider consensual sharing of sexually explicit images between teenagers who may be affected by any laws or measures to tackle CSAM.

-Look into the positive role education about online safety might play in mitigating some risks and government duties to provide such education to minimise harm to children and balance other rights.

OBJECTIVES AND DELIVERABLES  

The Consultant will deliver:

-An internal policy briefing on the human rights implications of measures to tackle the creation and dissemination of CSAM on the internet.

-The main human rights concerns of each of these measures, for instance the risk to the right to privacy of breaking or weakening E2EE.

-The human rights implications of these measures on consensual teen sexual activity such as sexting or the consensual taking of explicit photos.

-An analysis of the human rights implications of AI-generated CSAM in order to inform Amnesty's position on this.

-An overview of the main measures to tackle CSAM that have been proposed in legislation, for instance client-side scanning of photos on mobile devices or actions that companies have introduced voluntarily such as scanning cloud-based services.

-The pros and cons (and ergo the proportionality and necessity) of each of these measures in terms of their ability to tackle CSAM versus the impacts they have on other rights or the limitations to their effectiveness in tackling CSAM.

-What role can education play in mitigating these online harms related to CSAM?

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS  

-Knowledge of international human rights law and the human rights framework as it relates to children's rights.

-Experience of working on the issues connected to children's rights in the digital environment.

-Understanding of key human rights issues (such as the right to privacy) related to the digital technologies such as end to end encryption.

Events coordinator

Job Purpose: To support the CHS Alliance secretariat to ensure it delivers professional external events that meet the needs of our key audiences and advance our strategic goals, on time and within budget. Primary focus of this role will be the coordination and logistical management of the General Assembly in December 2024.

 

Background: The Events Coordinator role sits within the Network Engagement and Communications department and works closely with staff across the CHS Alliance, including those working on CHS outreach, HR/Governance and the Executive Director, on events organisation and delivery.

 

Main Responsibilities:

 

Event coordination

1. Coordinate the team and workplan to support smooth and timely delivery of key CHS Alliance events, with particular focus on the General Assembly (GA) taking place in Bangkok 5-6 December 2024.

2. Prepare and attend event working group meetings (e.g. set agenda, organise doodle polls, book conference rooms, take notes, etc.) 

3. Overseeing and updating the event workplan (e.g. gannt chart), flagging upcoming milestones and deadlines to event lead

 

Event logistics

4. Assist in identifying service providers by providing quotes and completing any other tasks requested by the line manager or event lead.

5. Procure supplies for event and ensure all material needed on site is prepared and up to date.

6. Follow up with the venues; liaise with the venue prior to, during and after the events.

7. Assist with all logistical aspects linked to catering, refreshments, room equipment (incl. audio visual), stationery, signs and identification (badges, etc.), and trip booking (hotels, flights, visa) where required, etc.

 

Communications & IT

8. Set up events on relevant platform (e.g. Zoom, CHS Alliance website)

9. Prepare and update registrations and participants’ lists

10.  Draft and send communication materials to participants, using software like Mailmerge or Mailchimp

11.  Assist with speaker outreach and briefings as appropriate.

12.  Manage the Alliance’s Zoom account as an administrator

Reporting and monitoring

13.  Monitor and report on project progress and related expenses according to the CHS Alliance financial policy and procedures.

14.  Manage and maintain an external events calendar for the CHS Alliance, to assist staff with horizon scanning and scheduling.

15.  Carry out any other relevant activities as required.

This role is the first point of contact for journalists getting in touch with the Trussell Trust. The role is accountable for handling media enquiries; checking and responding to the press inbox; media monitoring and securing press coverage. The Press Officer will assist with media work through print, online and broadcast news to help build understanding, awareness and consideration of the organisation’s mission and goal. The Press Officer will support and advise colleagues, food banks in the network and external stakeholders to ensure they receive media coverage of strategically important projects.

· Handle incoming enquiries and provide accurate, timely and appropriate responses, briefing journalists in line with the Trussell Trust’s key messages and priorities.

· Build relationships across the organisation, within the food bank network, with external stakeholders such as corporate partners, and with journalists to assist with securing coverage across national, regional and local media to reach new audiences and build cause awareness

About the role 

As a Coach in the Structured Coaching Team, you will be the lead worker for people who engage well with the service and are able to work with you to develop and follow a personalised plan to end their homelessness. South East London Mind is working with Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust and Bridge Support to deliver the Greenwich Mental Health Hub.  This will form part of the new transformation of mental health services in the Royal Borough of Greenwich under the NHS Long Term Plan. The service will bring together the expertise of local primary, secondary and voluntary sector mental health care providers with the aim of providing flexible, holistic, and integrated services for adults with mental health problems.

Unpaid carers in our communities are supporting relatives, friends and neighbours, often with limited or no support, to live the best lives they can.  The support of people with dementia, learning or physical disabilities, mental health difficulties or substance misuse problems by unpaid carers has been estimated to save the government close to the equivalent expenditure for the whole NHS.

We are looking for a Mental Health Carers Advisor who possesses an understanding of the challenges of unpaid caring and whose experience of working within mental health services includes support, prevention, recovery, and self-management.
