Job description

Groundswell is a sector leader in participation, with lived and learned experience at the heart of how we work. More than 65% of our staff have experienced homelessness or related challenges, bringing a huge range of knowledge, skills and perspectives to our organisation.

We are looking for a proactive, creative and digitally confident Digital Communications & Engagement Coordinator to join us at an exciting point in Groundswell’s development. As we celebrate our 30th anniversary in 2026, we have a new website, ambitions to grow and diversify our audiences and income, and a Board and senior leadership team who recognise the value of communications and are committed to investing in its potential across our strategy.

This is an opportunity to join Groundswell at a point when we want to do more with digital communications and do it better. You will have a genuine scope to influence how we reach and engage people online, test new approaches, and help shape the next stage of our digital presence.

You will turn Groundswell’s work, evidence and lived-experience stories into compelling content across social media, our website and fundraising communications, helping more people understand our work, connect with us and take action. You will have space to experiment with new ideas and formats, use audience insight and performance data to understand what works, and apply that learning to continually improve our communications.

Working closely with the Head of Development, who holds overall fundraising and communications strategy, you will build relationships across Groundswell to uncover stories and opportunities and bring your own ideas and digital expertise to the role. Your work will help us strengthen our profile, deepen engagement with our audiences and supporters, and support our ambitions to grow and diversify income.

Lived experience of homelessness is central to Groundswell. You will ensure our storytelling is ethical, accessible and respectful, with people with lived experience meaningfully involved in how their experiences and our work are communicated.
