At Hestia, we are guided by our core values and are dedicated to fostering an equitable, diverse, and inclusive organisation. Our mission is to empower individuals to rebuild their lives and achieve independence. Right now, we are looking for a Pool Worker to play a pivotal role in our Mental Health Service in Camden.

Sounds great, what will I be doing?

As a Pool Worker, you will use your excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build positive relationships with service users, including those experiencing distress or crisis. You will provide compassionate, person-centred support, using crisis management and de-escalation techniques to help individuals feel safe and supported. The role involves facilitating engaging activities, promoting wellbeing, and encouraging meaningful participation during service users' time within the service. You will maintain accurate records and case notes, respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns, and balance administrative tasks with direct support. Working both independently and as part of a team, you will demonstrate professionalism, inclusivity, patience, and a commitment to equality, diversity, and high-quality care.

What do I need to bring with me?

You'll need to be able to demonstrate the core skills this role requires as well as match our values and mission. You don't have to tick all the boxes right away; the important thing is that you're willing to learn. We also value lived experience of the areas we support, so if you feel comfortable, please do mention this on your application.

In this role, you will need strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport quickly with individuals experiencing distress, creating a supportive and welcoming environment. You will be confident communicating professionally, both in person and over the telephone, remaining calm and clear during challenging situations. Experience in crisis management and de-escalation is essential, enabling you to support individuals through periods of heightened stress while maintaining safety and wellbeing. You should be skilled in facilitating engaging activities that promote recovery, relaxation, and positive outcomes. Knowledge of mental health and autism is desirable, alongside a compassionate, empathetic, and non-judgemental approach to supporting vulnerable people with dignity and respect.
