We are seeking to recruit a skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Specialist Multiple Disadvantage Worker at Lewisham Vulnerable Adults Accommodation Service.

In Conjunction with the Service Management, you will work dynamically to deliver a high-quality support service to people in the borough of Lewisham with a range of complex and enduring needs.

You will have experience of providing intense support to a small caseload of clients with multiple disadvantages. The successful candidate will have skills and experience of working in a psychologically informed way to achieve the best outcomes.

About the role:

As a Specialist Multiple Disadvantage worker, you will have experience of intensively and skilfully managing a small caseload of clients.  

In the role of Specialist Multiple Disadvantage Worker, you will be expected to work in conjunction with the Team Manager to manage all referrals and assessments in a timely manner to ensure all assessments are conducted in a skilled and sensitive way to encourage potential clients to openly discuss their strengths as well as their deficits.  

As a Specialist Multiple Disadvantage Worker, you will be responsible for the delivery, and evaluation, of a range of Life Skills, and Recovery workshops and activities to support our clients' skills acquisition. To give support and guidance to project workers in relation to best practice standards for supporting homeless people with multiple disadvantages and complex needs.

The Specialist Multiple Disadvantage Worker will have skills in effectively liaising and building good relationships, with external and internal stakeholders to keep a satisfactory level of appropriate referrals.

About you:

• An understanding of best practices in supporting people with complex needs and an ability to support and guidance colleagues.  

• The ability to effectively and intensively case management a small case load of client with complex needs. Also, can create SMART support plans and effectively assess risk.  

• Experience and commitment to working flexibly and creatively to response to changes in sectorial best practice, external environment, organisational requirements, etc.  

• Experience of working with or supporting vulnerable people with support needs around any of the following issues; rough sleeping, mental ill-health, physical health, neuro diversity, problematic substance misuse, ex- offending.  

• To have a non- judgmental approach to working with clients who have multiple disadvantages, to promote a strength –based approach and an understanding of and commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. 

• To have formidable team working skills and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with external and partners, and stakeholders.  

• A willingness to work outside standard office hours as and when requires.

Hounslow Young People is Supported Accommodation Service for young people and young parents aged 16-25 in Hounslow. The Service encompasses a mix of units across six sites supporting 57 vulnerable young people and 19 teen parents. We are recruiting Waking Night Support Workers to join our dynamic service and team. In the role of Waking Night Support Worker; individuals will ensure continues support is provided to young people at the standards of day staff with particular focus on safety of vulnerable young people.

About the Role:

Waking Night Support Worker will work in line with person centred risk assessments; support plans and liaise with Support Workers to provide comprehensive handover and partnership working. They will be observant of changes in behaviour and presentations ensuring appropriate actions are taken to document and report changes in support needs of young people. Waking Night Support Worker will be able to carry out all necessary health and safety actions including light cleaning tasks and environment management. Furthermore they will actively seek out ways to work with the team and stakeholders to improve the experience of young people in the service. The role requires individuals to work on a rota pattern including weekend and bank holiday working, as the service is open 365 days a year. Hours worked: 21:30 - 07:30.

Nacro have launched the Community Support Service – Tier 2 (CAS-2) which is a national service commissioned by Ministry of Justice to provide accommodation as an alternative to custody. 

This role is based within our team in the East of England. As a Support Worker, you will provide exceptional housing support services and housing management services to a diverse range of service user including those on Bail, prison leavers, and those going through the criminal justice system. The Team provides flexible and holistic support to residents with a wide range of support needs. We aim to support them to find and keep a stable home at the end of their CAS-2 placement. You will manage a caseload of clients in properties in your allocated patch in the East of England.

This role provides an excellent springboard into other criminal justice professions and housing roles.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver effective support and safety plans with the service user referring to specialist agencies as required.
• Ensure that properties are always adequately equipped, maintained, furnished, and cleaned.
• Support residents to understand responsibilities that will help them keep their CAS-2 and future accommodation.
• Empower and motivate service users to identify and achieve desired outcomes.
• Develop a move-on plan with service users at the earliest opportunity, identifying realistic options for their future home.

Night Support Worker

They have a new opportunity for a Night Support Worker to join their night team to provide support to their homeless clients.

Your primary role will be to keep their service and the people that use it, safe. Your positive attitude towards your work and others will help to contribute to a great working environment. You will have a calm and personable manner and be able to handle potentially difficult situations.

Some of your duties will include: 

• Being the first welcoming friendly face for people coming into the service

• Providing informal support to clients and be a listening ear

• Responding to incoming calls

• Managing clients and their visitors within the building and any associated safety issues. Dealing with any incidents that may arise and contact external services when necessary

• Monitoring the service and surrounding areas that are covered by CCTV

• Carrying out regular visual checks / fire checks on the interior and exterior of the buildings and car park 

• Working in accordance with Health and Safety regulations and policy and procedure

• Providing basic First Aid assistance until help arrives – Full training provided

Their night workers will usually work a 12 hour (waking) shift between 7.30pm - 7.30am, on a four night on, four night off rota.  Although these are long shifts, you will get four days off after, which can provide a great work life balance.

Lester Court is a supported living service, serving the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. The service will supports seven adults with learning disabilities to thrive.

Specialist Support Workers within Look Ahead are required to have either an extra dimension of experience or a higher qualification level as determined relevant for the particular post. Assistant Support Worker - Homelessness

Full Time (You will work on a 7-week rotation, with a mixture of early and lates between the hours of 7am - 8pm)

Our client’s homeless service provides support to adults who are homeless or at risk of homelessness across two locations, each are tailored to meet the needs of the clients.   

They have an opportunity for an Assistant Support Worker to join their friendly team. You will love helping others and enjoy supporting individuals to achieve their goals and to become more independent. Your positive attitude towards your work and others will help to contribute to a great working environment. You will have a calm and personable manner and be able to handle potentially difficult situations.  

Some of your duties will include: 

• Supporting clients by prompting and helping them to attend appointments

• Encouraging their involvement in personal progression in the form of education, training, employment activity or volunteering.

• Helping them develop their practical skills in areas such as budgeting, shopping, cooking and housework, laundry, health and hygiene

• Working with external partners (such as colleges) to maximise the opportunities available to clients so that they can resettle in the community. 

• Empowering clients to achieve the outcomes they identify as desirable for independent living including involvement in practical tasks within the hostel such as basic maintenance/ room decoration

• Involving clients in the smooth running if the hostel environment

• Helping to maintain a welcoming, safe environment, identifying and minimising all potential risks to users of the premises and the organisation and property

• Maintaining client records using relevant systems to a good standard

• Work in accordance with the Health and Safety regulations and all policies and procedures

What you will bring: 

Previous experience in this type of work is not essential but you will have a real passion for wanting to work with homeless people.  Your values will match theirs and you will be committed to helping others and enjoy the real job satisfaction that this brings.

You will have: 

• Clear verbal and written English

• Good IT and keyboard skills

• Polite, assertive manner, ability to self -motivate

• Passion for working in a client/customer facing role

About this role…

Assessment Centres are fast paced services where people are referred in, usually from the street, and rapidly referred on to appropriate longer term accommodation. The services are short stay, and staff provide wrap around support and liaison with several external partners, including physical health, mental health, substance use and housing. Staffed 24 hours to ensure this quick turnaround, they are a key service to ensure people are off the streets and in stable accommodation.

We are looking for a Night Support Worker to join both the brand new Snow Hill Court team and the City Inn Assessment Service team.

• Conduct rapid risk and accommodation assessments with clients moving in to the service
• Liaise with external agencies and councils to ensure clients are receiving wrap around support
• Increase move on and throughput in the centre
