Our Muscle Group meetings provide a warm, friendly space for people affected by muscle-wasting and weakening conditions to meet with others in their local area. The groups meet either in person or on Zoom; three meetings per year are held in each of the 14 regions. Muscle Group meetings are a relaxed, confidential forum for people to ask questions, share experiences and learn from guest speakers. They should be fully accessible to all, including family, friends, and carers of those living with conditions.
You will lead on the organisation of these meetings and management of the volunteers who chair them, ensuring throughout that meetings meet the needs of our community.
You will also support the Volunteer Engagement Manager to ensure that volunteers across the organisation are recruited, trained and managed effectively. Here at MDUK, it’s important that all our volunteers are supported in their roles – this includes an induction process that sets clear expectations and provides the training and resources they need, regular open communication with employees, and opportunities for peer-to-peer volunteer support. We are Laurelle Brown Training and Consultancy (LBTC), an independent consultancy founded in 2017, as a response to the persistent challenges and discrimination faced by racialised children across the services and support systems they rely on. Any of us could be refugees, in different circumstances. Refugees at Home connects people with a spare room to refugees and people seeking asylum in need of somewhere to stay. We don’t think people who come to the UK for sanctuary should end up on the streets. Our vision is for every refugee and every person seeking asylum to have a safe place to stay.
We recruit and support volunteer hosts who are willing to offer a temporary home and a helping hand. Our role is to carefully match each guest and host, to assess and prepare them ready for hosting, to advise on hosting arrangements and accommodation, and to provide ongoing support to hosts throughout each stay.
We’re now recruiting for a Coordinator to join our team to ensure those who so generously support our work are well looked after and connected with our work. You’ll be ensuring we keep great records about our donors and their experience with us. You’ll be working with our Executive team to report on our work and impact to funders as well as finding new opportunities to raise funds for Refugees at Home. You’ll be using your excellent organisational and administrative skills to help with the smooth running of our organisation, working alongside all members of the R@H team.
We’re based in Brixton, South London. We work from here 3 days per week, with 2 days from our homes.
This role is available as a part time role at 3 days per week, where responsibilities would only include those under ‘Fundraising’ in the Job Description.

About the role
You’ll empower people affected by Parkinson’s to live lives that are as fulfilling as possible, whatever that means to them, to feel able to take an active role in their treatment and to become their own advocate in health and life, wherever possible.
Our adviser teams work within local areas and via our national helpline. Our helpline hours are currently 09:00 to 18:00, Monday to Friday, and 10:00 to 14:00 on Saturday. We are looking for someone who can work on a flexible basis to ensure cover across the helpline’s working hours. There will also be the need to cover some hours on Saturdays, bank holidays and over the Christmas period.
What you’ll do:
- Provide in depth, person-centred information and guidance to clients via our helpline service
- Keep accurate, up to date online client records in line with practice
- Make best use of time in providing an effective client service
- Recognise and respond to potential safeguarding situations using established procedures
- Provide information on a variety of health and social care issues, including appropriate emotional support, employment and welfare benefits guidance and advocating with and on behalf of clients
- Answer client enquiries professionally using a jargon-free approach and within established timescales
- Maintain relationships and partnerships with internal and external teams to achieve the best outcomes for clients
- Keep up to date with organisational and professional development relevant to your role
What you’ll bring:
- Experience of providing health and social care information through a range of channels
- Well-developed telephone skills including active listening and questioning
- Experience of supporting and empowering people with problem solving, navigating the health and social care system and participating in their own care
- Ability to be calm and deal effectively with challenging or emotional situations and/or people
- Demonstrable digital competence, with experience of effective use of a range of tools including online case management systems or similar
- In depth understanding of Parkinson’s, relevant issues and legislation, in particular in connection with health and social care and welfare benefits
In order to be considered for this role, you will need to be able to work one of the following two shift patterns:
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday (7 hours between 9am-6pm) and Saturday (10am-2pm) for a 32 hour per week contract.
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday (7 hours between 9am-6pm) Thursday (3 hours between 9am-6pm) and Saturday ( 4 hours, 10am-2pm) for a 35 hour per week contract..

Main Purpose of the Role
The Media, Production and Sound Technician is a key role within the Creative and Worship teams, with responsibility for the provision of sound, visual and technical support for St Stephen’s Worship, Communications and Media production ministry.
Key objectives
· To enable the church’s worship through excellent sound, visual, staging and production of all services and special events (including online).
· To continuously recruit, train, oversee and support volunteer teams for sound, lighting and VPS.
· To have a vision for enabling worship which flows from your own living faith in Jesus.
· To help inspire a culture of creative worship and prayer at St Stephen’s.
· To oversee the maintenance of worship equipment (inc. organ and piano tuning), liaising with external contractors as needed.
· Encourage, equip and develop worship beyond Sundays (special services, events, Seasons)
· Oversee the provision of sound and visuals at weddings, funerals etc.
· To organise (with the Worship Pastor) regular creative team nights for community building, discipleship and training.
· To task manage and train interns to set up worship equipment, and operate sound and visuals desks

· Highly experienced at using a digital audio mixing console.

The details
· £29-31k (pro rata) depending on experience
· 32 hours/4 days a week (40 hours/5 days FTE) including Sundays, to be worked flexibly to cover ministry needs. We would be open to exploring a full-time position, if a candidate brings gifts in another area of ministry (e.g. Youth, Children, Worship, Creative, Students, Comms etc.)
