About the role

As Housing Rights Worker, you will deliver high quality housing advice and advocacy in line with the hub’s local community priorities. This will involve working alongside people who are experiencing homelessness and bad housing to identify issues facing local communities.  You will plan and deliver casework to individuals and communities to resolve their housing situation, networking and engaging with community groups, local organisations and individuals to understand local housing issues and raise awareness of housing rights.

You will also work within local community settings and alongside community groups, delivering advice and rights awareness workshops. You will ensure that people with lived experience of homelessness have opportunities to share their story, give their views and participate in the design and delivery of Shelter services. You will offer day to day support to volunteers, provide learning, shadowing and mentoring and be a consistent role model for Shelter’s values.

About you

You will have the ability to engage and work collaboratively with individuals, communities and with all stakeholders, including running group workshops and presentations. You have experience, knowledge of and/or proven ability in housing and homelessness advice and advocacy, with the ability to progress to specialist level knowledge. Essential to the role will be good time management, carrying out casework related interviews, maintaining detailed case records and offering advice and support to clients to inform their decisions.

The Trusts, and Foundations Manager will be responsible for preparing applications to trusts, foundations, statutory funders and cultural institutes in line with agreed priorities and strategy. Reporting to the Head of Trusts, Foundations & Government, you will deliver in collaboration the trust fundraising strategy and identify and research opportunities to build active pipelines of new trust prospects for the organisation's projects.    

The selected candidate will have a demonstrable track record of securing grants from trusts, foundations and other grant-making bodies and will have extensive experience of developing grant funding bids, evaluation reports and project budgets. You will ideally have familiarity with Arts Council England priorities and funding processes and will have proven experience of donor management and stewardship too.

The Policy and Public Affairs Manager will monitor and map the criminal justice policy landscape, tracking developments across the system. They will engage with MPs, civil servants and key stakeholders, bringing evidence from our membership and the voices of those impacted directly by the criminal justice system to government to influence change.

The postholder will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and have demonstrated evidence of impact in policy and public affairs. Main responsibilities

Public Affairs (50% time)

• Develop and implement the CJA’s public affairs and influencing strategy to advance the CJA's objectives.
• Work with CJA members on influencing specific legislation, including campaigning around bills, writing amendments, and working with MPs and Peers to promote them within the legislative process.
• Stakeholder engagement (Parliament): Build and maintain relationships with key policy makers and parliamentarians through face-to-face meetings, providing briefings to MPs and Lords for Parliamentary debates, preparing written/oral questions, and attending Select Committees, APPGs, Parliamentary receptions and other relevant roundtables and events.
• Stakeholder engagement (other): Build and maintain relationships with other key stakeholders, including Police & Crime Commissioners, the Victims Commissioner, HM Inspectorates, civil servants, and other relevant bodies.

Policy and Research (40% time)

• Monitor policy and political debates and developments on criminal justice issues, horizon-scanning emerging policy issues, and where appropriate, disseminate and brief colleagues and CJA members.

• Identify proactive and reactive opportunities to promote and embed CJA and members recommendations and research.
• Produce high quality and influential policy briefs, reports, position papers, and responses to consultations, to advocate for changes in policy and practice put forward by CJA members.

Independent Age is the national charity focused on improving the lives of people facing financial hardship in later life. We believe no one should face financial hardship in later life.

Our Helpline and expert advisers offer free, practical support to older people without enough money to live on. Through our grants programme, we support local organisations working with older people across the UK.

Responsibilities and Person Specification:

The Head of Governance will lead the charity’s small Governance and Risk, and Facilities teams. They are responsible for governance, company secretarial, risk management, health and safety, safeguarding, information governance, procurement and contracts management, business continuity planning, and management of facilities and the charity's office and small portfolio of other properties.

The role would suit someone who enjoys a broad remit and working with colleagues across the charity, who can think around issues and implement pragmatic solutions. As the role has a wide remit, the ability to learn quickly will be key. Candidates will need senior level experience of charity governance, risk management and safeguarding, ideally working with adults at risk. Applicants will need to be good communicators, verbally and in writing.

This role is 0.5FTE (17.5 hours per week). There is some flexibility around how the hours can be worked, but hours would normally be worked across 2.5 days a week, with attendance required at specific times for management and trustee meetings. The Role

We’re looking for a confident and motivated individual to join our team as a Training and Support Officer. Job Description

Job Purpose

As a Financial Controller, you will be responsible for delivering professional customer service, work collaboratively across the organisation, and contribute to the success of the corporate plan. You will actively support residents and the community, promoting a One Phoenix approach and focusing on providing excellent homes and services while upholding the organisation's values.

Financial accounting

• Oversee payments, purchase ordering, accounts payable, and ensure accurate recording of transactions in the general ledger.
• Lead the annual statutory audit, prepare statutory accounts, and coordinate with external auditors.
• Manage tax returns for Phoenix community Housing and subsidiaries (VAT, Corporation Tax) and ensure compliance.
• Approve monthly payroll with People Services, reconcile salary/pension accounts, and ensure control accounts are cleared.
• Prepare and monitor cash flow forecasts, process journals, and oversee company insurance administration

Management Accounting

• Collaborate with finance business partners to provide consolidated monthly accounts, financial statements, and cash flow reports.
• Assist the Head of Finance in finalising all financial reports for the Executive Team and Board

Reporting

• Participate in the annual budgeting process and update the business plan until Board approval is obtained.
• Assist the Head of Finance in preparing and submitting regulatory statutory returns to the Housing Regulator, Financial Conduct Authority, and Companies House.
• Regularly review and maintain the Chart of Accounts to meet the organisation's reporting needs.
• Ensure internal compliance with the delegation scheme, report emerging issues, and update the Asset and Liabilities Register.
• Lead or participate in internal audits and stay updated on accounting standards to ensure compliance with best practices.

Rent & Service Charge

• Manage the Rent and Service Charge Accountant to ensure proper accounting of rental and income transactions in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Inspire and drive team performance, ensuring development, target achievement, and value for money principles.
• Contribute proactively to residents and the wider Phoenix community Housing, fostering a collaborative environment.
• Take ownership of key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring positive outcomes and cross-team collaboration.

The Successful Applicant

• Fully Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, ICAEW, CIPFA etc)
• Significant experience as a senior member of a finance team within the Social housing Sector
• Experience of preparing VAT under the partial exemption regime, and a VAT shelter
• A positive approach to excellent customer service, care delivery and a commitment to quality
• Can demonstrate working independently and as finance lead with board responsibilities. (Experience in a Mid sized Housing Association is preferable).

You’ll play a big part in helping to achieve the Trust’s goals by:

Care & Repair in Powys is seeking two Falls Prevention Officers to join our small and friendly team. 

You will deliver the new Falls Prevention Service, funded by Welsh Government, using your client focussed skills to identify and support older people who are at risk of falls.  You will be assessing the home environment for hazards and falls risks, working with the client to support their needs.  This may be through recommending minor adaptations or referring on for other services.  You will have access to full training to develop the required skills.
