We are looking for a Project Manager for the ‘Innovative Manufacturing in Africa’ project. 

The project supports ‘makerspaces’ in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa. It continues previous work by building their capacity, sharing knowledge and trialling innovative systems to help them generate revenue. It is supported by UK Aid’s RISA Fund and the mAkE Project. This is an wonderful opportunity to work with amazing people across Africa, to help invent new technologies and deliver a satisfying, successful project.

The Internet of Production is a small, international charity that brings together a global alliance dedicated to building a future of decentralized and distributed manufacturing. We seek to enable a sustainable and globally networked system of production, where products are fabricated using local capabilities and global designs; to complement mass production and global supply chains with ‘production by the masses’ and local enterprise. We work on open standards for networking, support experiments in open digital infrastructures and run projects that develop key parts of a future ‘Internet of Production’ – such as the ‘makerspaces’ in Africa.

Role & Responsibilities:

Supported by the CEO and the previous project manager (now full-time on a parallel project) and working with a small team of project staff, the Project Manager will:

• Manage the project, informed by the project design and existing workplans and budgets;
• Mobilise existing relationships with makerspaces in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa;
• Oversee makerspace’s bidding application processes for training and financial support;
• Manage donor processes including milestone reports and sharing deliverables;
• Assist with the appointment and management of freelance consultants and developers;
• Prepare for and attend key event in Cape Town in November 2024;
• Monitor and evaluate project progress, deliverables, outputs and impacts;
• Manage and chair monthly stakeholder meetings and regular donor meetings, all online;
• Complete and submit quarterly reporting, and oversee progress against the budget.

Person Specification:

• Excellent project management skills;
• Experience of donor reporting and relationship management;
• A qualification in project management is desirable but not required;
• Experience of working in non-profit organisations, with government funds or on international aid funding would be very helpful;
• Experience of managing contractors / consultants and their contracts is essential;

We are seeking a talented and experienced communications strategist and writer, with a background in sustainable development, science or health communications, to join our Communications Services team. You will be educated to degree level – if you have a postgraduate qualification in a subject area relevant to our work, even better. You’ll be interested in engaging strategically with international development and research projects to showcase results and enhance the impact of their work. Your role will include:

• Developing and implementing communications, campaign and event strategies: you will develop and drive forward strategies and implementation plans to help organisations define their communications objectives and translate them into achievable outcomes.
• Writing and advising clients: you will write (and edit) copy for a wide range of materials and subject areas, and provide clients with advice on communications materials and approaches to best meet their needs.
• Generating new projects and business: you’ll have the opportunity to define your own role by supporting the team in generating strategic business opportunities – meeting clients and helping them to fully understand the benefits that working with Scriptoria brings.

Working at Scriptoria

The role offers the opportunity to get involved in a variety of projects, gain experience in different areas and contribute to the diverse range of services that Scriptoria provides.

Our staff have the flexibility to work wholly or partly from home or from our office in Tooting, South-West London, during regular operational hours (08:30–17:30). If working from home, staff must have a working environment suitable for holding video-call meetings with clients. Key skills and experience

1. A degree in a subject area relevant to our work. A postgraduate qualification would be an advantage.
2. A minimum of five years’ experience, together with a track record in developing communications, campaign and event strategies, and advising clients on their implementation.
3. Experience in presenting to groups and facilitating workshops. Enthusiasm to travel would be a big advantage.
4. Extensive experience as a writer in the areas of sustainable development, science or health, with a demonstrated flair for writing compelling, engaging text that effectively communicates key messages.

Role purpose:  

ShelterBox is recruiting for an Insight and Reporting Officer to join our Insight team. The role will work closely with our Insight Manager, guiding and supporting our Fundraising and Communications colleagues to design, track and evaluate activities, embedding insight at each step of the way.

Our Insight team sits within our Fundraising Operations function, and together we ensure we are providing excellent, audience-driven supporter experiences, and making our data and systems work effectively across fundraising and communications activity. Over the last four years, we have seen uninterrupted growth, reaching a record-breaking global income of £26 million in 2023. This has enabled us to provide shelter and support to more people than ever before.  

This post will help to embed an insight-led, supporter-driven and evidence-based approach to communications with both potential and existing supporters. By using insight to deliver exceptional supporter experience, we will drive engagement and lifetime value of supporters. The post holder will support our Fundraising and Communications teams, from selecting and segmenting the right audiences through to reporting and evaluating our results.

It’s an exciting time to join the team, as we embark on an organisation wide Business Systems Transformation Project, that will see us onboard a new CRM in conjunction with new finance, project and HR systems. The Insight and Reporting Officer will play an important role in the next step on our journey and will have the opportunity to help shape.

Who are we looking for?  

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with experience of statistical analysis, data interpretation, and reporting. We are seeking a strong communicator, who can work across teams and levels, explaining complex information in a clear and understandable way.  

The successful candidate will have a passion for data and insight combined with an understanding of campaign analysis and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as attrition and LTV. In addition, they should be confident in managing multiple projects simultaneously and working with a broad set of objectives associated with fundraising and communications.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

• Providing end-to-end support with Fundraising and Communications activities, supporting teams in the design, selection, review, and reporting.
• Tracking activity results, looking for insight and ensuring that learnings are fed into future activities.
• Preparing evaluation reports for fundraising activities, drawing on statistical analysis and with particular emphasis on performance of segments and identifying areas for growth and innovation.
• Working closely with our IT reporting team to maintain existing reporting dashboards in PowerBI and design new data visualisations, reporting tools and metrics.
• Supporting the production of regular reports on KPIs for a wide audience, including our trustees.
• Developing an understanding of our supporter universe – who are our supporters, how do they engage with us, why do they support us and how can we provide the best supporter experience for them?
• Supporting the team to develop and implement supporter satisfaction measures and increase opportunities to capture insight from supporter conversations.
• Working closely with teams across Fundraising and Communications to consolidate learnings and insight from campaigns and activities to ensure continual development of programmes and testing strategies.
• Maintaining and expanding our Insight and Evaluation Library, documenting learnings and decisions for future use.

JOB PROFILE
Reporting to the UK Head of Communications and Giving (HC&G), you will be at the forefront of demonstrating to the public how Afghanaid is changing lives in Afghanistan, and raise awareness of key issues communities we work with are facing. You will lead the development and delivery of the organisation’s media and PR strategy, building out Afghanaid’s capacity to pitch stories, field opportunities, cultivate a strong network of journalists and high profile supporters, and ultimately secure coverage and opportunities that drive the success of the organisation’s campaigns and heighten Afghanaid’s credibility and profile.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Media and Public Relations

• Design and action an annual Media and PR strategy based on wider team and organisational goals;
• Conceptualise and deliver strategic earned media campaigns, supporting the HC&G to execute and maximise the success of multi-channel campaign development and execution;
• Proactively identify, pitch and advocate for compelling stories, strategically engaging with journalists to expand message reach and ensure brand integrity;
• Field inbound media inquiries, liaising with journalists and colleagues to maximise opportunities;
• Craft and distribute timely press releases, comments, and statements;
• Work with colleagues to cultivate a strong spokesperson team, with a particular focus on developing Afghanaid’s thought leadership;
• Support spokesperson briefing, developing talking points, interview briefs, Q&A materials and drafting speeches;
• Compile up-to-date and detailed media lists, cultivating warm media contacts through high quality stewardship;
• Monitor media coverage on Afghanistan and Afghanaid, including articles, live news, and social media activity to keep abreast of unfolding stories, identifying trends, cultural moments and other opportunities relevant to Afghanaid and devising ways to get involved;
• Generate content for various owned communication channels including the website, newsletters, and social media platforms, keeping the Media hub on the website up to date with the latest news, coverage, and journalist information, and making suggestions for refinement.
• Work with Communications Officer to maintain and execute a coordinated communications calendar, ensuring day-to-day team activities via earned, paid and digital communications streams are synchronised and symbiotic;
• Identify a wide range opportunities for positive exposure of Afghanaid that may inspire new support;
• Work with HC&G to support relationship management of external agencies and consultants, identifying and responding to opportunities to utilise pro-bono support from such businesses;
• Collect and analyse data and produce reports and presentations on key media and PR performance indicators to assess the effectiveness and reach of our communications activities and make recommendations for improvement;
• Identify and pursue opportunities to utilise high profile and celebrity support. Work collaboratively with other members of the Communications and Giving team to engage these contacts in media campaigns, appeals, digital communications and events, and where possible and appropriate cultivate Ambassador-style partnerships;
• Attend relevant events, external fora and working group meetings and identify opportunities for involvement with advocacy initiatives, particularly those within the climate space, that benefits Afghanaid’s goals and reputation;

Role description

The Parliamentary Advocacy Coordinator (Education) will work with both organisations, providing crucial support to the Results UK Education and IPNEd Teams. We are looking for someone who will be proactive, efficient and flexible in supporting our parliamentary advocacy work both in the UK and globally. Having a can-do attitude that includes the more administrative aspects of the role is essential. This post will provide good opportunities for developing project management and advocacy skills; an understanding of key international development issues; and experience of working with Parliaments and parliamentarians in the UK and globally.

We are looking for candidates with an interest in and passion for international development and education to address poverty, inequality and oppression.

Key responsibilities

Supporting the work of the Results UK education and IPNEd teams​

• Providing administrative support to the Results UK Education and IPNEd Teams and ensuring the smooth-running of internal processes that support the teams’ work, for example: contributing to the maintenance of the contact management systems and databases; supporting monitoring, learning and evaluation processes; tracking and communicating impact; engaging with external providers (e.g. report designers); managing procurement of translation services for events and meetings.

• Supporting political analysis for Results UK and IPNEd education teams to identify parliamentarians to work with as members of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Global Education in the UK and the IPNEd global network.

• Working with the Grassroots and Communications Team to ensure maximum impact between the relationships our grassroots campaigners build with their local MPs, and the Education Team’s advocacy work.

Summary of the role:

This role is crucial in supporting the Head of Strategy in developing the organisational strategy and operational plans, making sure that everything stays on track.

This will include assisting in monitoring the progress of strategic planning, planning workshops to facilitate internal communication and learning, but also supporting in routineday-to-day tasks including scheduling, managing the flow of, filing, archiving and securing of important/confidential information, facilitating smooth and effective communication with relevant stakeholders and by providing administrative support on small-scale projects.

Our partner is a leading environmental organisation with impactful programmes in PNG. They are seeking a Finance Director to oversee the finance function; provide strategic analysis and advisory support; and to lead through succession planning and capacity strengthening within the country office. 

Responsibilities

• Financial oversight of the programme – this includes ensuring that there is a strong control environment across the HQ and regional offices, that policies and guidelines are properly understood and implemented, properly manage and account for income, and monitor banking, cash and cash advances and expenditure.

Requirements

During this maternity cover, Grants Officer will report directly to the Director of Grants, Contracts and Compliance. They will work across all of Internews’ geographies to provide the highest standard of grant management support to partners receiving higher value grants from us. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Grant Management and Compliance

· Provide grant management support to Programme Management Units, country offices and partners. Participate in regional portfolio reviews.

· Support start‐ups of partner projects by coordinating project stakeholders and ensuring that all relevant processes and procedures are in place.

· Develop guidance documents and procedures to enable effective and compliant operation of partner projects. Supports project teams in adapting Internews’ standard sub-granting policies, procedures and toolkits to country contexts.

Partnerships and Development

The Director of External Engagement at Girls Not Brides devises and oversees implementation of fundraising, communications, advocacy & campaigns strategy to help realise Girls Not Brides’ vision of a world free of child marriage, where girls and women enjoy equal status to boys and men and can fulfil their potential in every aspect of their lives. Uses leadership skills and extensive experience of global and local fundraising, communications, campaigns and advocacy to support the organisation’s strategic objectives - movement building, influencing and learning - to empower others, opening spaces for voices to be raised, and drive transformational change. Works as part of a globally-dispersed and diverse team, and closely with members, National Partnerships and coalitions. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE

Strategic planning and organisational leadership

• Lead the implementation of the Secretariat’s communications, advocacy and fundraising  strategies which deliver on the vision, mission and goals set out in the Secretariat and Partnership strategies, 2022-25.
• Set out how the team will use creative campaigning tactics, targeted policy and advocacy,impactful communications and fundraisning  to help build the movement to end child marriage, influence those with power to make change, and share evidence and learning.

Empowered communications

• Support the globally-dispersed Girls Not Brides communications team to work with members to find and tell stories of girls’ lives and of the latest evidence and learning that exemplify the realities of child marriage and the solutions; demonstrate that change is needed, and change is happening.
• Work with the Communications team to leverage a wide range of communications channels, including media, website, social media, and events to convey the key messages and findings from Girls Not Brides’ work in a way that enables those without power to be heard, and convinces those with power to support positive change for girls. 
• Oversee and explore ways of landing Girls Not Brides stories and policy and campaign asks at the local, national, regional and international level in a way that is context specific and impactful. Effective advocacy

• Oversee and facilitate direct and indirect engagements with policymakers and decision makers at the local, national, regional and global level, as well as those who influence and advise to take action to end child marriage.
• Lead on ensuring strong synergies between advocacy at national, regional and global levels, coordinatoring between advocacy team members in the regions and the global advocacy team.
• Lead global stakeholder engagement including working with relevant UN organisations, sector leaders, and thematic international organisations to ensure that child marriage is reflected in their policies, budgets and programming.  
• Lead Girls Not Brides sector integration agenda, maintain strong existing partnerships, and identify new allies to enhance broader sector integration of ending child marriage.
• Support colleagues, National Partnerships and members to develop and use advocacy skills, and monitor, analyse, influence and respond to relevant legislative and policy opportunities at the global, regional and national level.
• Oversee production and dissemination of policy and advocacy content including fact sheets, policy briefs, updates, and position statements. 
• Oversee trainings and development programmes for the secretariat and global partnership, including webinars and learning series.

Transformational campaigns

• Grow and strengthen the movement, harness its potential, ensure Girls Not Brides connects, empowers and amplifies diverse groups around the world united behind a shared cause.
• Oversee Girls Not Brides’ work with local groups, activists, girls and their families to use campaigning and engagement to shift socio-cultural attitudes, including among elders and community leaders, about how girls can and should expect to be treated, respected and empowered.
• Work with the Adovocay team  to identify and plan for at least four big moments in the year, either at the global, regional or national level where members of the wider movement can come together to collaborate for change, engage young activists, and support and learn from each other.
• Work closely with the Development and Outreach team to support and deploy champions, ambassadors, youth leaders and high-profile influencers to advance the cause of ending child marriage.

Impactful fundraising

• Direct and lead the implementation of Girls Not Brides’ global and regional fundraising strategy for the secretariat and the wider movement, to ensure a diverse and sustainable income portfolio.
• Lead the creation and diversification of a business development plan, targeting new actors such as businesses, high-net-worth individuals, legacies, etc.
• Lead the cultivation and strengthening of donor relationships, alongside the CEO, to bring in new funding and grant renewals, build donors as champions.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional with up to 3 years of experience in administration which includes administering and monitoring databases. The post will provide the Team with accurate, timely and comprehensive data, reports and minutes to support and enable effective grant making and decision making. The post plays a crucial role in supporting the whole Team in the UK and in Africa with the potential for visiting Egmont Partners and projects in southern & eastern Africa. 

The successful candidate will be highly IT competent, possess good written communication skills and have a positive attitude and strong desire to help meet the objectives of this small but very effective international development charity. A keen eye to detail, a methodical and analytical mind are critical requirements of the role. The ideal candidate will be young self-motivated, capable of working as part of a team and under their own initiative. Salary: £31,605

Contract type: 12 months with the possibility of extension

Hours: Full time - 35 hours per week

Holidays: 25 days plus bank holidays. Staff additionally get a day off on their birthday and our office is closed between Christmas and New Year.

Within these areas, we prioritise a small number of specific issues where we can have the most influence to achieve much needed development progress. Across all our issues, our aims are to mobilise resources, change policy, and create the public and political will that will bring about change.

Role description

Results has a long and successful history of engaging with UK parliamentarians around international development issues and providing them with the briefings and questions they need to raise these issues in parliament. As the Parliamentary Advocacy Officer for Education, you will lead our parliamentary work on education issues in line with our new strategy and commitment to equity. You will have a good understanding of how the UK Parliament works and how to engage parliamentarians in our issues. 

You will lead relationships with UK parliamentarians around global education, including providing the Secretariat for the APPG Global Education.

Key responsibilities

Parliamentary advocacy

● Working with the Head of Parliamentary Advocacy and others in the organisation to develop and implement a high impact and politically astute advocacy strategy for global education.

● Alongside the specific global education strategy, contribute to the development of Results’ overarching parliamentary advocacy strategy, working closely with the Head of Parliamentary Advocacy and other members of the team.

● Lead on the parliamentary work on global education for Results UK, by building and strengthening relationships with MPs and Peers that result in their championing the end of poverty, specifically the importance of global education, and building support for the key elements of strong national education systems.

● Provide the secretariat function to the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Global Education. The APPG secretariat/coordinator function includes guiding the Group’s work programme and activities, arranging meetings and events, corresponding with the APPG Officers and Members, briefing MPs and Peers to ask questions or speak in parliamentary debates and representing the Group externally, for example with the FCDO, Global Partnership for Education, Education Cannot Wait and others.

● Lead the planning, delivery and evaluation of Parliamentary Delegations to other countries and advocacy tours to the UK, working with the relevant Policy Advocacy Officer and others in the Parliamentary Team.

● Work closely with the Grassroots Advocacy Team to ensure parliamentary and grassroots campaigning activity is coordinated and the greatest impact is achieved between the relationships our grassroots campaigners build with their local MPs, and the work led from the office to support MPs in Parliament.

● Ensure our parliamentary advocacy and relationships always remain non-partisan and cross-party, in line with our charitable aims and objectives.

Partners and coalitions

● Liaise with other global Results organisations, to coordinate our parliamentary advocacy at a global level.

● Work closely with civil society and other partner organisations and allies in the UK to coordinate parliamentary advocacy in the UK.

● Represent Results UK in global coalitions and consortia, such as Send My Friend to School (SMF), the FLN (Functional Literacy and Numeracy) Hub and others as agreed with the Head of Parliamentary Advocacy.

● Identify and develop new partnerships in line with our new strategy and our focus on equity.

Communications and media

● Where capacity allows, identify media opportunities and support media activity (including traditional and social media) related to global education.

● Contribute content to Results UK’s website, blog and social media to help achieve our organisational objectives and strengthen our brand presence.

● Publicise the APPG's activities, primarily through its website and twitter account.

● Represent Results at external meetings and events in relation to global education advocacy.

Organisational Development

● Carry out effective monitoring, evaluation and learning of your work, recording activity and outcomes that enables Results UK to measure its success, in addition to measuring the impact of your activities towards these outcomes.

● Be a key part of Results UK’s organisational development by participating in strategic discussions, evaluations, sharing your experience and ideas, and working flexibly to support other staff as required.

● Actively develop and support funding ideas to help appropriately expand Results UK’s portfolio in close collaboration with the Head of Parliamentary Advocacy and the Operations team.

● Build new and strengthen existing relationships with donors, external partners, and our advocacy targets.

● Together with the Senior Policy and Parliamentary Advocacy Officer for Education, be responsible for regular reporting to grant funders.

● Be flexible and undertake other tasks as required.

Person specification

This role is ideal for someone with public affairs or political advocacy experience, preferably in the UK, who understands the way that political decisions impact global poverty and wants to influence these decisions. A strong understanding of and passion for global education. Equally important is a proven ability to quickly gain an understanding of a complex new area and translate it into succinct, clear, achievable recommendations.

This post will provide excellent opportunities for leading parliamentary advocacy to deliver real change in funding and policy outcomes on global education and other issues; for building and deploying a strong understanding of key international development issues; and experience of working directly with UK parliamentarians and other actors across the international development sector.

Essential criteria

• At least one year of experience in a substantial parliamentary or public affairs role with demonstrable success in managing relationships with parliamentarians from different parties.
• Understanding of the UK Parliament (including the roles of MPs and Peers; the range of activity parliamentarians can undertake in parliament to influence Government policy; the role of APPGs; Select Committees).
• A good understanding of international development issues and in particular, the need for approaches based in equity and partnership.
• An ability to learn quickly about new development issues and clearly convey this information to others.
• An ability to write clearly and succinctly, for a range of audiences, from lengthy formal submissions to short articles or blogs.
• Experience in representing organisations, networking, and working in coalitions.
• Experience of event organisation.
• Excellent English writing skills with an ability to write clearly and succinctly for a range of audiences.
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to build rapport with people from different backgrounds and cultures.
• Good understanding of carrying out effective Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL), for advocacy work.

Desirable

• Experience working in international development.
• Experience of working with campaigners and advocates.
• Experience of working with the UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
• Experience of managing activity budgets.
• Experience of planning and hosting online and in person advocacy events.

Purpose of the role
The Foundation is currently recruiting a programme officer for the Special Interest Programme based in its London office. Programme officers manage relationships with Oak partners, and make grants, as directed by our Trustees.

Main responsibilities include:

• managing a large grants portfolio, including: research and rigorous due diligence to prepare grant recommendations and progress reports for Trustees. This includes reviewing partner budgets and financial statements.
• supporting impactful partners by: providing ongoing contact, communications, and site visits; and monitoring progress and supporting adaptations to achieve desired impact;
• establishing and maintaining good relationships with applicants/partners and Oak Foundation’s other partners
• supporting partners with organisational strengthening and the development of child safeguarding policies as needed
• assisting partners to overcome challenges and draw out lessons learned in ‘end of grant’ reports when grants close
• working collaboratively on cross-foundation initiatives as required

Position requirements:

• An advanced university degree or equivalent experience
• Five to seven years’ experience of working in the not-for-profit sector and/or in philanthropy, including experience in grant-making and project and budget management
• Proven work experience and expertise in two or more of the following areas – social justice, child welfare, educational reform, access to the arts, humanitarian aid, development or environmental issues
• Excellent writing and editing skills, and ability to work quickly to meet deadlines
• An understanding of intersectionality and inclusive approaches to grant-making
• Proven experience in building and maintaining partnerships
• Ability to work independently but also flexibly and collaboratively, as part of a small team based in three different locations
• Fluent in English;  additional languages would also be an advantage
• Strong analytical, negotiation and communication skills
• Discretion, humility, flexibility and a good sense of humour
