Purpose of the Operations Manager role:
As Operations Manager, the successful candidate will play an integral role in the effective day to day management of key business support services including operations, IT data and premises. The role includes line manage responsibilities of the inhouse team as well as maintaining key relationships with outsourced companies to ensure objectives are met.
Key duties and responsibilities of the Operations Manager:
Operations:
- Manage the non-pay elements of the Operations Budget, including IT budget. (approximately £400K annually)
- Ensure that the technical, digital and office environment needs of all staff (across all sites and remote workers) are fit for purpose and adequately resourced
- Compliance with Health and Safety legislation
- Oversee the effective management of communal facilities, office resources and equipment.
- Responsible to complete, monitor and maintain the Operations Risk Management register.
Data Protection and Management:
- Provide subject matter expert advice on GDPR compliance and data protection.
- Responsible for co-ordinating the Data Champions Group to ensure that all Data Protection Polices are kept up to date.
- Responsible for all Subject Access and Right To Be Forgotten Requests
- Act as the ICO liaison.
- Responsible for setting GDPR training requirements
- Manage the Intranet and SharePoint sites
- Responsible for ensuring that the CRM operates in line with WA’s IT and GDPR Policies.
- Responsible for monitoring the ongoing archiving connection.
IT:
- Work with the external IT contractors to ensure effective delivery of the WA IT strategy.
- Ensure effective management and coordination of IT systems, equipment, office machinery, premises, and services.
- Plan, develop and implement strategies for IT
- Ensure organisation wide compliance with IT policies.
- Manage responsive IT support, maintain central records for externally provisioned services.

What we are looking for in our Operations Manager:
- Experience and knowledge of a variety of software packages, particularly MS products

Sessional Project Worker - Advocacy

Location: Home based, but travel is expected to cover Cheshire East and Cheshire West and Chester.
The Children's Society has been helping children and young people in this country for over 140 years. We run local services across the North West that support children when they are at their most vulnerable and in desperate need of help. We're there for children, every step of the way.
This role sits within our Youth Impact domain, which works to provide immediate one-to-one support for children and young people who urgently need advocacy across Cheshire and support for children and young people who go missing in Manchester.
We are currently looking for a skilled practitioner to join our dynamic and ambitious team on a sessional basis. Hours will be available as/when the service identifies need for sessional staff and we can accommodate flexibility to suit sessional workers at times when they are available (e.g., morning/afternoon/evening).
A key part of this role will be to enable the children and young people we support to be able to express their views on matters important to them and issues which affect their lives.
In order to be successful in this role, you must have:

Caseworker
Forces Employment Charity is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Caseworker to join our team working on the CFO (Co-financing Organisation) programme in partnership with the probation service. In this role, you will provide specialist support to veterans within the criminal justice system, focused on early intervention, support and diversion to prevent re-offending. You will work closely with probation staff, partner organisations and lead providers to identify, engage and deliver emotional and practical support to veteran clients.
This is a Full-time 35 hours per week, home based role with regular attendance at Lewisham and Croydon Activity Hubs and frequent travel throughout the UK. This role has a salary £29,000 pa.
This will be a fixed term contract till 31 July 2024.
Role Overview:
For the CFO programme, Forces Employment Charity is working in partnership with probation service staff and other partner organisations to provide specialist support for veterans in the justice system.This support is focused on early intervention, support and diversion at point of contact with justice system in order to prevent re-offending.
The successful applicant will be providing activities and support to clients within a formal contractual framework working to challenging targets.The role holder will need a strong beneficiary focus and the ability to rapidly form relationships with partners and local agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with partners to identify and engage veterans with the CFO Programme.
- Undertake needs assessments with each veteran and jointly develop their support plan.

- Deliver any further activities reasonably required by the Op Nova National Manager or CFO Contract Manager, the Nova National Manager and the Forces Employment Charity.

- Understanding, empathy and knowledge of ex-forces personnel and the challenges they may face.
- Highly motivated and independent, capable of working remotely from their line manager.

The problem - On average, 160 young people are excluded from school each week. Once excluded, prospects for these young people are bleak, with only 4% achieving good GCSE grades, and 67% entering sustained education, employment or training compared to 96% of their non-excluded peers. This can be a pipeline to prison, with concerning statistics showing 63% of prisoners having been excluded from school.
Our mission - To ensure that young people who have been excluded from school are not excluded from society.
Who we serve - We support the hardest to reach young people in the most disadvantaged communities, each of whom are most at risk of experiencing school exclusion or are at risk of being excluded. Young people who are eligible for free school meals are 4x more likely to get excluded, along with black Caribbean boys. Young people with special educational needs are also six times as likely to be excluded as their peers.
Our work - We work in a number of different settings both during term time and after school. Our coaches lead small groups of 8-10 young people, using sport as a hook and mentorship as an anchor to develop their soft skills, as well as improve their physical & mental wellbeing. This, coupled with exposure to the work place through Career Taster Days, raises their aspirations and puts young people in a better position to enter sustained education, employment or training (EET) when they leave school.

This is a new role for the Circuit, replacing a volunteer. In designing the position, the Circuit has aimed for maximum flexibility to secure the best candidate for the role. Initially, the person will need physically to attend some meetings to familiarise themselves with the Circuit's operations and ensure a smooth hand-over. The Richmond & Hounslow Circuit comprises seven churches in southwest London. As with all Methodist circuits, these churches function autonomously yet collaborate closely in their ministry and mission efforts. The Circuit oversees joint resources, including staff and property. As a part of the Methodist Church, its mission is “to respond to the gospel of God’s love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission”. The opportunity
We are seeking to recruit a Suicide Prevention Therapist to support men in suicidal crisis at our centre in Liverpool. We are looking for an experienced mental health professional or therapist with demonstrable interest in suicide prevention. We will work with you and train you to develop your therapeutic skills to offer our collaborative semi-structured psychologically informed intervention. You will support the centre user and their supporter(s) to recover from the suicidal crisis and maintain their safety. You will report to a Senior Suicide Prevention Therapist.
This appointment is part of our growth as a charity. The successful candidate will join an experienced supportive team and will gradually build a caseload supporting four men in suicidal crisis per day to meet the growth of referral partnerships and increased awareness raising in Liverpool.
The Charity
James’ Place exists to stop men dying by suicide. We opened our first centre in 2018 in Liverpool, the first of its kind in the UK, in 2022 we launched our second centre in London, and this year we opened our third centre in Newcastle. To date, we have supported over 1500 men and delivered over 7000 sessions of our life-saving intervention. James’ Place is a therapy centre for men who are experiencing a suicidal crisis, and it was set up to make the experience of finding help as easy as possible. It offers men a brief, intensive, therapeutic intervention in a safe environment. Men who walk through the door at James’ Place will be in a space where they feel valued and respected.
Building on the success of our centres in Liverpool, London, and Newcastle, we are now expanding our model to reach more men in suicidal crisis. Our aim is to have five centres open across England by 2026.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Regional Casework Coordinator to join the Northwest Region at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.
You will be part of the regional office team who are the first point of contact to all beneficiaries into the Regional Office. You will be assisting with sometimes complex problems from individuals who may be distressed, identifying the presenting and potential underlining needs to determine the best way to support the beneficiary, either by beginning a casework referral, referring to another service within SSAFA or making an external referral to organisations better able to offer support. You will also have ownership of cases from beginning to end, coordinating the casework process in a timely manner and ensure that the beneficiary journey is at the centre of the Service. At all times you will adhere to the safeguarding, confidentiality, and data-protection policies, including escalation to emergency services for clients where there are immediate areas of concern.
To help you establish yourself in this new post you will receive excellent training and induction to SSAFA and will influence the processes and procedures within the office, working closely with the Regional Casework Manager and Regional Operations Manager.
The post is home-based, but you may have to travel occasionally around the Northwest Region of England.
About the team
In this new role you will be working closely with volunteers from the six SSAFA branches in the Northwest, supporting them to administer casework for SSAFA beneficiaries. The successful candidate will work as part of a larger support team which will include a Casework Manager and a Regional Operational Manager.
About you
To carry out this role successfully you will have a track record of providing welfare advice in key areas such as, housing benefits, debt, disability, mobility or immigration issues. You will have knowledge of safeguarding and GDPR, along with experience in dealing with sensitive information and people in vulnerable situations. You will be able to provide excellent customer service by telephone, e-mail and face to face. You will have used Microsoft Office 365 to a high standard. It is important that you have experience of planning and managing your own workload, with minimal supervision.
It would be advantageous if you have an understanding of the way of life for today’s Armed Forces, veterans and their families, along with supporting volunteers. An understanding of the voluntary sector and preferably the military charity sector landscape across the North West.
