We are now seeking an experienced, solution-focussed Head of Finance and IT to join our Senior Management Team. This role oversees the financial operations and drives the development of our integrated IT strategy, ensuring first-class financial and IT service across the organisation.
In this role you will ensure timely and accurate management and financial reporting across the organisation, fostering a culture of financial accountability and ensuring that all stakeholders have a sense of co-ownership of this; working closely with the senior management team you will support grant applications to ensure that the terms and conditions of these grants are understood and complied with. You will also manage our cloud-based IT services to support the delivery of our strategic plan, ensuring best value IT across the organisation.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or CIPFA) with a solid understanding of IT systems management. They will have proven experience in both financial and IT leadership roles, working closely with senior managers and collaborating with a range of internal and external stakeholders at senior levels. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to present complex financial data to diverse audiences to ensure the organisation's financial sustainability. Experience in the charity sector and in developing financial strategy is essential for this role.

Senior Legal Advisor (Procurement & Fundraising)
Commercial Contracts Lawyer (for Procurement contracts and Fundraising).
We have an exciting full-time, permanent opportunity for a Senior Legal Advisor to join our Legal Services Team. A small, dedicated team of Lawyers central to the work of Mencap across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. We work closely with Mencap’s Teams and Directorates across the organisation to ensure that they operate safely and securely, and providing advice on complex issues.
At Mencap, we offer flexibility about where the role is undertaken. For this role, a presence in Peterborough is preferable where possible, but the individual would be required to attend team meetings in our Peterborough office once a month. Occasionally, it will be necessary to travel nationwide.
The Senior Legal Advisor will provide high quality commercial contracts and documentation, advice and assistance to support all Directorates across Mencap, as part of Mencap’s internal procurement process and Fundraising Teams.
The Senior Legal Advisor will be required to work with different Teams and Directorates across Mencap to draft suitable and robust commercial contracts (including IT contracts); and standard terms and conditions; or review third party’s contracts and terms. Similarly, will be required to negotiate contracts and provide advice for the Fundraising Teams, and ensuring regulatory compliance and radar scanning for changes in law which impacts fundraising.
The Senior Legal Advisor will represent the Legal Services Team on a number of Panels and Committees, such as the Procurement Panel, and would be the lead point of contact with the Legacy Team.
Qualifications:
For this role you would need to be a Solicitor or Barrister qualified to practise in England (or comparable jurisdiction) preferably holding a practising certificate. Previous in-house experience would be viewed positively.
Essential key skills, experience & abilities required for this role:
· 5+ years PQE and experience in commercial contract law
· Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
· Solid awareness of GDPR provisions
· Experience and good technical expertise in contract law and IT agreements
· Experience and good technical expertise in and awareness of regulation effecting fundraising agreements would be beneficial
· Analytical thinker and problem-solving skills.

About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Executive and managing a small team of Finance and HR personnel, the Head of Finance & Resources position is broad in scope. The post holder will be responsible for the development and implementation of RHSU strategy relating to finance, people and culture, governance and digital infrastructure. The post holder will ensure the delivery and resourcing of operating plans, policy and operating procedures to ensure that the Union delivers its strategic objectives across its support services. The position sits on the Senior Leadership team and will be expected to play a key role in the delivery of our 3 new strategic enabling themes: People & Culture, Well Governed & Sustainable and Physical & Digital Infrastructure.
Key responsibilities are centred around, but not limited to:
Strategic Management and Leadership – including supporting the delivery of the Union’s strategic plan, leading on financial planning, overseeing compliance and forming part of a strong Leadership Team with other senior colleagues and Sabbatical Officers.
People Management – including leading on the People & Culture plan, leading on recruitment and embedding a learning & development culture at RHSU.
Financial Management – including creating a culture of strong financial literacy, leading on all budgeting & forecasting, financial controls, the annual external audit and having overall responsibility for the accuracy of financial records, including but not limited to the organisation’s VAT returns, payroll & pensions, fixed asset portfolio and funds.
Service Development & Delivery – including ownership of contract management, cooperation with the University over block grant funding & IT service provision, leading on change projects around digital infrastructure and both internal & external compliance & reporting.

Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for an experienced finance professional who is ideally at least part-qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA. An excellent understanding of charity finance, regulation and governance is required, along with experience of senior level management and leadership in a similar sized organisation.
Skills and experience with developing strategic plans, project/change management and leading on digital infrastructure projects would also be very useful experience to succeed in the role. Strong commercial acumen would be beneficial too -against a backdrop of constantly changing commercial considerations and wider Higher Education sector pressures.
Whilst core finance skills are essential, both at a strategic and operational level – experience in a broader resources role covering HR, IT, governance or compliance would suit this post well. A demonstrable interest and commitment to a values-driven and student-led organisation is also required.

About the role:

Are you an Information Security expert looking to work for one of the UK's largest charities?
We’re looking for a dynamic, customer-focused Information Security Manager to join us and lead the delivery of our information security strategy. You'll drive forward the use of good architectures and best practice in areas such as Identity and Access Management and Software Development.
The post holder will lead with maintaining our privilege access posture, reviewing our firewall rules and adherence to our policies, how we give third party access and auditing access and permissions. The role will require great stakeholder management skills to influence teams across technology and the wider business. The Global Digital Lead will oversee the digital transformation of Blue Ventures, evaluating our current tech stack and developing a digital transformation roadmap to ensure the organisation uses the appropriate digital tools and software for collaboration and communication. This role will manage all software systems, including financial software, CRM, communication software, enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, file management, workflow, and collaboration software. Additionally, the Global Digital Lead will be responsible for ensuring that the organisation is set up to succeed from a hardware perspective, managing the procurement and efficient use of hardware across various regions.

The Head of Digital Learning (internally known as EdTech Lead) will be a new and pivotal role that will support with the successful implementation of the Digital Academy. This role will sit within the Education and Training Division of Anna Freud but they will entail working closely with senior colleagues from across Anna Freud including the Education and Training Division Leadership team, Closing the Gap Acceleration (CtGA) team and the different Heads of departments. Externally they will liaise with external tech organisations to support procurement of new platforms and they will conduct market research to assess the market, target audience and consumer demand for the various services that might be offered through the Digital Academy.
The successful candidate will join a fast-paced, growing and successful team. They will need to be an experienced professional within the field of educational technology, with a good grasp of learning design and virtual learning platforms, as well as experience of commissioning/procuring digital platforms and a demonstrable ability to undertake market research within both home and international markets. An understanding of working in the charity sector and/or within an education and training environment would be helpful. Experience of undertaking projects centered around children, young people and families, mental health or other health-related/science subjects would be welcomed.
Location
Hybrid working (a mixture of onsite and home/remote working). Staff are working onsite for at least 20% of their working hours at our London site (4-8 Rodney Street, London N1 9JH).

As Finance & Operations Director (FOD) you will be responsible for the financial stability of the organisation and maintaining appropriate financial management. Supporting the Finance Manager and Business Administration & Finance Officer to deliver the organisations’ strategies around finance and operations (IT, HR, premises, etc).
Working closely with the CEO, Deputy CEO & Director of Programmes & Impact as well as the organisation’s Board of Trustees to ensure that the delivery of the strategy and business plan is successful and that the organisations’ assets are safeguarded.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure financial stability of the organisation and maintain appropriate financial management.

Desirable Experience, Knowledge and Competencies:
- Experience of working in a small to medium sized organisation.
- Understanding and familiarisation of financial and regulatory requirements of the charity sector.
- Understanding of organisation IT and resource needs and how to use these to support staff in their roles.
- Understanding of, and/or lived experience of, the barriers that young people face, that contribute to the education and employment gap.

A leading Multi-Academy Trust comprised of 11 primary and secondary schools in the East Midlands is seeking a minimum of 2 Senior Finance Business Partners for full-time, permanent roles.
With a salary of £55,000 per annum plus an excellent local government pension scheme, the roles will be largely onsite at the Trust’s Head Office in Kettering and onsite at the schools – either in Kettering, Corby or Wisbech.
The roles will involve producing management accounts and genuine strategic finance business partnering to a range of budget holders in schools – headteachers, senior leadership team members, catering and IT Managers etc. There may also be some budgeting and analysis at central Trust level in addition to working with the schools.
The role also involves costing and cost analysis, interpreting complex financial data, journal postings and assisting with year-end close.
Being a qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA) is an essential criteria for these roles. Prior experience within a Multi-Academy Trust or from within the Education sector would be advantageous. Experience working with facilities, catering or IT budgets and departments would also be of interest – but not essential.
The roles are responsible for enhancing strategic financial analysis and insight to enable the understanding, of financial reporting on Trust performance to key stakeholders, including the Trust Executive Team, Heads of Professions and school leadership teams. The roles will ensure the efficient and effective allocation of resource, integrating finance and curriculum planning, allocating and managing finance in line with ESFA and academy handbook financial requirements.
The positions report to the Head of Finance Business Partnering and do not line manage anyone.
Duties will include:
-Develop excellent working relationships with key stakeholders across the Trust, ensuring KPIS, professional strategic financial advice and guidance is provided and applied effectively
-Ensure monthly reporting is accurate, fit for purpose and facilitates effective decision making at school and Trust level in conjunction with the requirements of the CFO and best practice
-Provide analysis and insight, linking financial reports to School and Trust strategies
-Provide ongoing higher-level support and guidance on financial matters to relevant stakeholders
-Support and advise budget holders on the development and submission of business cases as and when required, maximising the link and priority of good financial stewardship and front-line education delivery
-To undertake project- based work for specific projects and programmes
-Provide quality information as required for external bodies for example to the ESFA or the external auditors
-To undertake any other duties, commensurate with the level of the post, as may be required from time to time.
Candidate requirements:
-Fully-qualified CIMA / ACCA / ACA accountant essential
-Demonstrable experience in a similar Senior/Strategic Finance Business Partnering role – ideally dealing with multiple cost-centres and a diverse range of budget holders
-The ability to be hands-on and produce management accounts, journal entries etc
-Experience with costing / cost analysis
-Creative and pragmatic problem solver with the ability to interpret and present back on complex financial data
-The ability to work onsite at the Trust’s Head Office in Kettering on a Wednesday, and spend the rest of the week onsite at the allocated schools in Kettering, Corby or Wisbech (it may be possible to work from home 1 day per week)
-An interest in the Education sector is highly desirable
