Job description

Make a Real Difference: Use Your Skills to Transform Lives in North Wales

Are you a passionate professional looking to use your expertise for genuine social good? CC4LD is seeking skilled trustees who think creatively, solve problems innovatively, and truly care about equality and inclusion for people with learning disabilities.

Why This Role Matters

People with learning disabilities continue to face significant barriers to living full, independent lives. As a trustee, your strategic oversight will directly enable life-changing services - helping young people transition to adulthood, amplifying voices in decisions that affect them, and breaking down barriers in healthcare and community participation. Strong board leadership means more families supported, more voices heard, and more barriers removed.

An Exciting Time to Join

Our board is at a pivotal moment. Since 1997, we've grown from a small organisation to a comprehensive service provider across all six North Wales local authorities. Now we need to strengthen our governance to match our ambitions. We're diversifying income streams, expanding our reach, and building our profile - all while maintaining the person-centered approach that makes our services truly valued.

What We're Looking For

We need trustees who are caring, solution-focused, and think outside the box. Finance expertise is our absolute priority - whether you're a qualified accountant, have charity finance experience, or bring strong financial management skills.

We're also seeking expertise in:

  • Fundraising and income generation - helping us build sustainable funding
  • Legal and governance - ensuring compliance and best practice
  • HR and people management - supporting our growing team
  • Marketing and communications - raising our profile and impact
  • Strategic planning and business development - driving our growth

But skills alone aren't enough. We want people who are genuinely passionate about our cause, who ask thoughtful questions, who challenge constructively, and who work collaboratively. Whether you're an experienced trustee or this is your first board role, if you have the skills and share our values, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Do

You'll work closely with our Chief Officer and senior team, providing strategic direction and supportive challenge. Board meetings happen 4-6 times per year - you can attend in person at our Llandudno Junction office or join remotely via video call.

The time commitment is flexible beyond the core meetings. Some trustees love getting involved in subcommittees or attending events to stay connected with our work. Others prefer to focus on board meetings. We respect that everyone has different capacity and welcome whatever time and expertise you can offer.

Who We Are

We're a friendly, committed board that genuinely cares about making North Wales more inclusive. We value diversity of thought and experience, and we're building a board that reflects the communities we serve. We provide proper induction, ongoing training, and a supportive environment where your contribution is valued.

We work across North Wales, delivering activities, self-advocacy support, family transition services, person-centered planning, health improvement programs, and training. We connect people with learning disabilities, their families, carers, and organizations - keeping everyone informed and breaking down barriers to participation.

Remote Trustees Welcome

You can be based anywhere. We actively encourage remote trustees because we're after the best skills, regardless of location. Our meeting structure and culture ensure remote trustees are fully engaged and valued as much as those who attend in person.

The Impact You'll Have

This isn't just governance for governance's sake. Your strategic decisions will ripple through to real people's lives. The funding strategies you help develop will sustain services that give people independence and choice. The governance frameworks you establish will ensure quality and accountability. The partnerships you help build will extend our reach to more families who need support.

You'll be part of ensuring that people with learning disabilities across North Wales have genuine equality of opportunity - the chance to live the lives they want, to have their voices heard, and to be fully included in their communities.
