Role and Responsibilities
We are looking to recruit a law graduate (1-3 years post-graduation) with experience in environmental law, economic justice and/or international development to join our small but dynamic team. Depending on experience, the role will support our programmes challenging economic injustice caused by environmental damage, biodiversity loss, deforestation, illegal resource trafficking, climate change and conflicts over natural resources; promoting transparency and accountability in public and private institutions to encourage responsibility and minimise the impacts of corruption; and promoting fairer and more effective economic and fiscal policy tools to help states meet development goals and enhance the rule of law. A more detailed explanation of our work is set out in our 2024-2026 Strategy.
Working as part of a small, busy team, you will have the opportunity to learn at very close hand what it means to work for an international NGO focusing on achieving environmental and economic justice. You will develop projects with a range of partners, including international agencies, NGOs and CSOs, and governments and government bodies. You will collaborate with a range of volunteer lawyers (law firms and barristers chambers) who are leading experts in their field. The role will also involve project management, assistance with fundraising, fulfilling compliance obligations, and evaluating and learning from projects.
Key Competencies:
• Relevant experience and knowledge (either from previous work experience or study) relating to environmental law and policy and/or economic justice in an international development context;
• A law graduate with a good understanding of how law is useful to achieving reform on the above;
• Demonstrable understanding (either from previous work experience or study) of key issues in sustainable international development, including the UN Sustainable Development Goals;
• Experience in developing countries and transitional economies;
• Ability to develop and manage relationships with a range of stakeholders, including donors, NGOs, civil society organisations and government representatives, on an international basis;
• Familiarity with, or understanding and enthusiasm for the concept and practice of, pro bono legal assistance;
• Demonstrable project management skills and experience, including administration and coordination;
• Ability to work on a wide range of tasks simultaneously;
• Excellent research skills to effectively convey research findings;
• Comfortable working independently and proactively and as part of a small team with a busy caseload;
• Strong interpersonal and team working skills;
• Some experience or demonstrable ability in donor management, including managing existing relationships, meeting donor reporting requirements and in raising funds for future projects and activities (desirable);
• Working knowledge of another language used in Sub-Saharan Africa or Latin America such as French, Portuguese, Kiswahili or Spanish (desirable).
Key Responsibilities:
1. Work closely with the Senior Legal Managers and/or Legal Manager to deliver and implement the programme strategy, in conjunction with the Executive Director, partners, staff and Board;
2. Assist in developing an understanding of the most effective policy tools and legal interventions to deliver the programme objectives, through engagement with volunteer lawyers, ILP partners, staff, Board and others;
3. Support the building and maintenance of ILP’s programme(s). This includes:
• Liaising with partners to identify legal/policy needs and offer potential legal and/or policy reform solutions, including through conducting legal analysis;
• Assisting the programme lead(s) to build a pipeline of relevant projects and cases, including through engaging in outreach to potential pro bono partners;
• Supporting programme staff to network and build relationships with volunteer lawyers who have relevant technical expertise;
• Mapping and developing relationships with regional and international development entities and other technical assistance providers to identify potential partners, needs and focus countries;
• Representing the programme(s) in external fora and events;
4. Assist with ensuring effective project delivery and evaluation of impact including:
• Coordinating project implementation through the full project cycle;
• Supporting the preparation of financial and narrative reports for donors;
• Maintaining strong programme management and knowledge management systems and processes;
5. Support fundraising activities to support both the programme(s) and organisational overheads, including exploring opportunities for potential funding and assisting with funding applications;
6. Share in the necessary operational activities of the organisation. This includes some administration and contributions to website and social media communications.
Key details about the position:
• Location:Flexible for the right candidate including those outside the UK. Office premises are located in central London, with hybrid working (approx. 2 days per week in the office) if London-based.

- Help expert speakers to create content to help build the capacity of makerspaces in Africa
- Publish excellent write-ups of webinar content so that it can be shared more widely
- Review content from the project developed in 2023, and prepare and publish it for sharing
- Help to publish academic-style papers from work done in 2023, ideally in a relevant journal
- Support the Project Manager in monitoring, evaluation and learning processes
- Support the team with communications for monthly project stakeholder meetings
- Contribute project content to the Internet of Production website
- Prepare communications materials for a key series of events in Cape Town in November 2024
- Identify and share relevant content on the Appropedia wiki
Person Specification:
- Experience as a writer, reporter or author of learning materials, articles or papers
- Background in communications, particularly in non-profit, charity or education sectors
- Exceptional written English for a range of formats and a very diverse set of audiences
- Graphic design skills, including for presentations and websites
- Online publishing skills, ideally including learning platforms such as MOOCs and MediaWiki wikis

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced fundraiser or a candidate with transferrable skills who is looking for their next challenge.
This fundraising role is varied and fun and may suit someone who has worked in fundraising for a few years and understands the diverse range of responsibilities that come with the role. You should be able to work well in a small team and be prepared to adapt cheerfully to changes and challenges that may crop up daily.
Your main area of responsibility will be for generating income by writing proposals to Trust and Foundations, working with service managers across the country to research and build compelling cases for support across the organisation.
We are looking for someone who can secure multi-year grants and core funding support through creating high value applications and also have the skills to research and fire off multiple applications to smaller trusts for small projects on a daily basis.
Experience in meeting fundraising targets would be useful but not essential. An important aspect of the role will be maintaining up to date reporting systems of approaches and successes and fulfilling grant obligations to funders.
As part of a small fundraising team and you will also work with your colleagues to further develop the Walk for Autism fundraising campaign and be instrumental in developing a high quality supporter journey using email, texts and social media. Developing digital fundraising is one of our main strategies so a willingness to learn new skills in this area is a key part of the role.
You will be required to work outside of office hours occasionally with some travel to services around the UK. It would be helpful to have a driving licence but it’s not essential. Aid Box Community (ABC) is a Bristol charity that provides hope, love and a sense of belonging to people seeking asylum in Bristol. The charity was started 7 years ago on the Refugee camps in France by a local mum and has grown and evolved to support over 5000 people a year through our Free Shop and Welcome Hub, Activity Groups and Trips and Connections Befriending program. We have 336 volunteers and a fantastic, small team and we are looking for a part time Finance Officer.
The job is for 15hrs a week ideally to be worked over 2 or 3 days Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Based at the ABC office, Portland Square, Bristol and some home working on agreement.
We are a small team, and you may be asked to do something outside of your Job Description and help support other members of the Aid Box team.
Job Description:
The Finance Officer will have a wide variety of financial management and control tasks from day to day bookkeeping to filing year end accounts. They will formally report to the Director of Strategy and liaise regularly with the Board Treasurer.
Role Overview
The Finance Officer is responsible for the smooth running of all day-to-day aspects of the financial management of Aid Box Community (ABC):

Provide a high quality and effective financial management and Bookkeeping service to the charity
-
Prepare, develop and analyse management accounting information and reports, including a standard suite of monthly reports and ad-hoc reports as required by the Charity
-
Ensure compliance with all relevant financial statutory and regulatory matters relevant to the Charity
-
Liaison with the external Auditor in preparing and getting approval and sign off of the annual statutory accounts
Key responsibilities:
The postholder will advise the charity on all matters relating to the finance of the organisation and provide management information for the Board of trustees. They will also be expected to contribute to future strategy, business planning, year-end accounts, monitoring of budgets and performance, and full adherence to al financial policies and procedures in accordance with the Finance Manual. Duties include:
Financial Management
Accountancy and Bookkeeping Systems
Maintenance of all accounting records on an ongoing basis to include:
· Manage all income and expenditure processing.
· Maintain and improve bookkeeping and accountancy systems (both computerised and manual) including:
- Bank reconciliations.
- Cash flow management.
- Income and grant analysis (restricted and designated funds).
- Bank receipts and payments.
- Purchase approval and recording processes.
Accounts payable
· Process purchase invoices in an accurate and timely manner.
· Respond accurately and efficiently to queries from suppliers and colleagues regarding payments
· Manage the Finance email inbox ensuring emails are dealt with in a timely manner
· Ensure petty cash via Soldo Card is available and monitored
· Process staff expenses, ensuring compliance with policy
· Access and administer online banking
· Pay roll, pay salary and staff costs
Accounts Receivable
· Control and Monitoring of restricted funds including detailed records of spend allocation of funds and remaining balance.
· Accurately accounting for all income receipts monthly including donations from individuals and organisations and grants and claiming any appropriate Gift Aid.
Budgets
· Monitor the budget against actual and investigate any major variations in budget.
· Involvement in strategic and planning projections with the Director of Strategy.
Reports
Produce regular management information so that key officers and trustees know how well the charity is performing against its budget. To include:

Provide regular monthly management financial information (including financial highlights/budget against actual/restricted and unrestricted funds/fund movement summary/fund balances/balance sheet) for the Director of Strategy and Board of Trustees.

Quarterly financial reports for the Board of Trustees including detailed analysis of income and expenditure.

Assisting with fundraising applications and reports.
Annual Financial Audit
-
Liaising with the external accountants for Annual Financial Accounts and Annual Review preparation before presenting to the Board annually for approval alongside the Director of Strategy.

Filing Annual Return to the Charity Commission.
Bank and Treasury Management
-
Treasury management in connection with cash and investments held by the charity.
-
Manage cash flow and ensure that bank charges are kept to a minimum.
Fundraising
· Assisting with applications for funding ensuring that all grants, sponsorship and donations are paid on time and the financial conditions met.
Communication and Coordination
-
Ensure the efficient circulation of financial information as needed, including that required from external advisers, e.g., auditors.

Liaise with and advise the Director of Strategy and others as appropriate on all financial matters.

Liaise with and maintain a good working relationship with bankers, accountants, auditors and donors.

Liaise and maintain a good working relationship with volunteers, staff and Board of Trustees.

Attend staff and Trustee meetings as required to provide information and analysis.

Understand confidentiality in accordance with GDPR.
Professional/Technical

Keep up to date with financial developments across the sector, changes in requirements for charity reporting and changes in legislation.

Maintain and monitor the Internal Financial Procedures policy document and make recommendations on best practice, good governance, policies and procedures and implementing same.
Experience, qualifications, and requirements
Qualified or part qualified Bookkeeper or with considerable experience in a similar role preferably in the charitable or not for profit sector
We are looking for candidates with a passion for supporting and or lived experience of the challenges faced by asylum seekers and refugees in the UK. This role requires great attention to detail and excellent organisational skills preferably you will have financial management experience and experience of working and managing finances for a charity.

Key accountabilities:
Use insight and analysis to inform and guide the Fundraising and CX team:
· Work with the Head of CX to manage all campaign analysis and insight projects and ensure that interpretations of the findings and insights are delivered to the appropriate stakeholders in order to inform and drive future performance and strategies
· Manage the analysis of fundraising campaigns and products, working closely with the relevant fundraising teams to identify key learning and make recommendations for future activity
· Build dashboards and ways of visualising data that fundraisers can use on a daily basis to track, report on and optimise their campaigns
· Work with others across the CX team to report against testing schedules and strategies
· Run segmentations as required for fundraising teams

About MenWalkTalk
MenWalkTalk is a registered charity in England which aims to support an improvement of mental health in men of all ages by engaging in a walking group which is proven to be beneficial to their mental and physical wellbeing. The Stigma around Men’s mental health needs to be broken. MenWalkTalk also aims to reduce social isolation for men and provide signposting to specialist support for those who may be experiencing mental health problems. We want to provide volunteer-led walking groups in every county across England and then the UK. Our volunteers have mental health first aid training as a minimum and their aims are to discuss mental health within their walking groups, in a caring, supportive, and non-judgemental manner. The Project Officer (Strategic Data and Measurement Analyst) is an important new role at the Diocese, as you will provide a comprehensive understanding of our data sets to afford context and insight to the Deaneries, parishes and the Diocese which will help develop projects and programmes to drive growth in church attendance.
This role would suit someone who is an excellent and inquisitive administrative professional looking to expand into the field of data analysis.
As Project Officer, you will develop a comprehensive understanding of all types of datasets available within the Diocese, including demographic data, attendance records, retention statistics and financial records, whilst identifying and implementing appropriate tools and methodologies for collecting and analysing new data insights.
An integral member of the Strategy Team and reporting to the Strategic Programme Manager, you will lead data analysis work for projects as needed, providing statistical expertise and composing narrative insights for project reports to inform decision making, support funding cases and investment requests.
Acting as a point of contact between the project office and other stakeholders, you will provide coordination and support as needed to ensure the smooth implementation of projects.
