Key deliverables:

• Act as a strategic business partner and trusted advisor to senior leaders, developing excellent working relationships with the Senior Leadership Team, providing sound senior level HR advice, using data and insights to inform decision-making and drive performance.
• Effective delivery of day-to-day HR management and oversight, including HR Policies, performance management, staff surveys, pay and benefits and employee engagement, whist inspiring any direct reports and external consultants to deliver exceptional performance.
• The continuous development and management of a Learning and Development programme which delivers on the needs of a high performing fundraising organisation.

The Local Storytelling Exchange is seeking a highly motivated individual to work closely with the Executive Director to drive forward the scale and pace of impact at the Exchange.

This person will be a creative individual with an entrepreneurial mindset. Excited about joining a start-up, they will be strategic and analytical, with a strong understanding of where storytelling can make the biggest public and political impact. A background in strategic communications and / or climate policy is desirable, but a strong track record in project management and ideas development is key. They will enjoy testing new ideas, evaluating success and developing new partnerships and opportunities. A self-starter, they will be a quick learner, able to take initiative and lead the effective delivery of programmes.

A clear grasp of the power of stories will be crucial to the success of this role.

About

The Local Storytelling Exchange is uses storytelling and community engagement to shape a collective narrative of support for a fair green transition. Storytellers work in different regions/geographies to tell stories about individuals, groups and businesses who are finding more sustainable ways to live and work showing 'this is what the transition looks like'.

Working closely with the CEO, the Audit, Finance and Risk (AFR) Committee and the Board, the Finance & Corporate Services Manager is responsible for the financial management of the charity on a strategic and operational level, and supports our corporate, HR and ICT functions. As a member of the Senior Management Team, this position provides leadership and support to the wider team, and line management of the Finance & Corporate Services Officer. Other duties include monthly payroll, monthly management accounts and reports, annual budget and audit, and supporting our team with HR, ICT and office requirements.

You will be an experienced senior manager with at least 4-5 years of experience in finance within the charity sector and providing back-office support. An accountancy qualification is essential, as is knowledge of SORP.

About the role:

We are seeking a Head of Operations to work with the CEO and senior leadership team to manage a broad scope of operational functions, including workplace governance, people management, digital support, data and risk management. The Head of Operations will be a collaborative and hands-on professional with project and people management skills, a track record of operational change management, and the ability to inspire colleagues in new ways of working that ensure the efficient day-to-day running of the Foundation - driving system, quality and process improvements.

Key areas of responsibility include:  

• Working with the CEO to deliver effective day-to-day operations for the organisation, managing the Operational Excellence Workstream and our approach to Quality.
• Oversee HR, culture and people function, including recruitment, retention, performance evaluation, employee learning & development, working with our external HR advisors when required.
• Promote a culture of equity, inclusion and collaboration, nurturing a positive and supportive environment for all.
• Embed cross-team working, building key relationships and highlighting synergies across our working practices to deliver efficiencies and improvements.
• Oversee compliance with relevant legal, regulatory, and ethical standards, ensuring all policies are current and regularly reviewed, including annual review by trustees (e.g. GDPR, Charities Commission) and manage our Complaints process.
• Lead on the management and implementation of safeguarding - ensuring appropriate policies, training and guidance are regularly reviewed.
• Support the CEO in maintaining strong governance and adherence to best practices in charity governance and reporting, including keeping the risk register up to date and progressing actions.
• Produce management reports for the CEO and Trustees as required, supporting the Annual Report & Accounts production and Board of Trustees administration.
• Oversee cyber security and coordinate IT support services, including the Foundation’s IT and digital platforms – maintaining licenses, agreements and contracts.

Essential knowledge, skills & experience include:

• Previous experience in a Senior Operations management role, preferably in a charity or not-for-profit setting
• Strong leadership qualities to lead operations and fulfil an executive function
• Reliable with a high level of discretion and integrity – able to deal with sensitive and confidential matters
• Excellent IT and digital skills including Microsoft Office 365. Skilled in using workplace systems including Teams and SharePoint
• Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Experience of managing compliance and risk, including safeguarding and GDPR – able to identify and respond to organisational risks
• Exceptional people management and coaching skills with experience of managing HR and L&D functions
• Excellent project management and organisational skills, able to multi-task with attention to detail
• Demonstrable commitment to ED&I, and actioning this through an inclusive culture and positive working practices

The Governance Advisor will:

• Advise CIEH's Board and Committees in line with the governance framework and statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Provide high quality, professional governance services as well as support successful AGMs and elections.
• Work across a full range of governance activities, leading on identifying and delivering opportunities to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of our governance.
• Provide support for fitness to practice cases and act as hearing co-ordinator to fitness to practice panels.

We are seeking a senior leader with experience with 5-6 figure fundraising but that can be within any of trusts & foundations, corporate and/or major donors.

This role comes at an exciting time with the opportunity to lead the growth of MQ’s Development Team as we expand our capacity across all these areas of income generation. MQ currently has at least one role under each area and there is desire, supported by the board of trustees, for further recruitment to strengthen each as needed.

We are happy to consider people who want to work full-time (35 hours), or four days per week (28 hours).

Here's a summary of your key responsibilities:

• Provide inspirational leadership to the MQ Development Team, managing the current team of five to deliver our £3m 2025 budget
• Develop, oversee and actively lead the implementation of a fundraising strategy which exploits a wide range of fundraising opportunities, maintains diverse and sustainable income streams, and builds the organisation’s unrestricted income capacity to meet its aims and objectives.
• Lead by example, personally building and managing a pool of 6 figure prospects to deliver against targets within your area of speciality (major donor, trusts and/or corporates), with a focus on new business across the team
• Potential to help MQ expand its high value fundraising on an international scale
• Collaborate across MQ’s teams, including Research, Marketing and Finance, to develop MQ’s list of fundraising products and proposals
• Refine and deliver MQ’s high value tracking and reporting on financial and activity KPIs, working closely with the Senior Data and Compliance Manager and using our CRM, Raiser’s Edge NXT
• Build and monitor annual Development Team income and expenditure budgets and work with MQ’s Executive to provide regular updates against progress and reforecasting as needed
• Drive innovation in fundraising activity in order that MQ can stand out – improving current approaches but also developing new behaviours, projects and activities to win new funding through excellent stewardship and cultivation
• Capitalise on the expertise and networks of MQ’s senior volunteers, including working closely with MQ trustees and other Development Team colleagues to maximise existing opportunities for introductions, including the Lord Mayor’s Appeal
• Develop MQ’s ability to carry out targeted and systematic research to establish new high value prospects utilising existing networks, the MQ database, search engines and referrals

About you:

This role is for you, if you have fundraising experience with grants and foundations as well as corporate fundraising and/or new business acquisition experience. This means you will have experience in stewarding and securing new gifts from foundations as well as researching new opportunities to apply for funds.

You will also be skilled in understanding and translating complex information and turning it in to compelling written proposals, for grants, corporate partnerships and major donors.

You will be driven to ensure that projects are delivered to the highest possible standards and be a sophisticated communicator with the confidence to build relationships with and inspire colleagues and donors.

We do require someone who is proactive, hardworking and results-focused.

Experience of Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge/NXT is desirable but not essential.

• Existing contacts within the mental health or healthcare sector.

• Ability to leverage events for donor engagement and fundraising.

Flexible working: As a mental health charity, staff wellbeing is of paramount importance. We operate a core hours policy (10-4) to encourage flexible working and staff are mainly home based with the requirement to come into the office two days per week. A standard full-time working week is 35 hours, plus an hour for lunch breaks.

About Woman's Trust

The charity, established almost thirty years ago to meet the gap in specialist mental health services, is led by and for women and aims to ensure that women affected by domestic abuse can live a life free from further harm and abuse. Our approach is trauma-informed and person-centred, empowering survivors on their journey to recovery from the trauma. We support 900 women and children annually, with an income of £1.04m and 41 staff in 2023/24. You will be joining the Woman’s Trust Fundraising team as we work towards our strategy 2022-2027, to double our income and the number of women we support each year. We are focused on developing innovative mental health services for young women and girls, launching peer-led support groups and providing therapeutic groups to children and their mothers. As a creative and tenacious senior fundraiser, aligned to our feminist ethos and our service users', you will have experience in securing six-figure, multiple-year grants, with the proven ability to effectively communicate services, and to develop funder and wider sector relationships aligned to our strategic priorities.
