We’re looking for a Country Manager who is, at heart, a peacebuilder. You will be someone willing to lead by your example, coaching, inspiring and giving technical support as you spend time with peacebuilding teams across the north of CAR, including three Hub Peacebuilding Managers in local offices in the borderlands, up to eight programme officers and over 300 local peacebuilders who form our Advisory Groups.

Living in Bangui, you’ll report directly to the Regional Director and work collaboratively as a key part of the Regional Leadership Team to shape the strategic direction of Concordis’ future work across the Central African region.

The needs in CAR are immense, and we need you to have the vision and motivation to look beyond programme delivery, as important as that is, and to identify new opportunities and new funding for additional programming. You’ll support the team as they design, develop and source funding for new work that will a deliver measurable change for peace.

You will be someone who is curious and keen to spend time with people in the borderlands, where conflict is fought and felt. You will also have the confidence and ability to be part of high-level meetings with ministers and ambassadors, amplifying voices that are often ignored by decision makers, leading to evidence-based, conflict sensitive policy making.

Role Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for technical peacebuilding aspects of Concordis’ work in CAR

• Responsible for leading on all aspects of peacebuilding in delivering an ambitious but realistic borders programme to time and to budget, meeting all contractual requirements of the donor
• Responsible for providing managerial oversight in developing and delivering strategic work plans in accordance with donor log frames to achieve delivery of all activities and outcomes, reporting on these to the donor
• Develop opportunities to use the significant flexibility built into this contract to maximise impacts for peace, beyond pure contractual terms, negotiating these with the donor
• Visionary leadership with the staff team, key stakeholders and international donors to identify gaps in peacebuilding provision and to develop opportunities for future work that will meet identified needs, be locally owned and deliver measurable impact

Influence policymaking and advocacy

• Represent Concordis in CAR with high-level engagement with local, national, regional and international decision makers, using evidence from the programme to influence policymaking
• Build and maintain relationships with key decision makers, then use this access to amplify voices that are often ignored, engaging with Government officials, Diplomatic staff, Regional bodies that support Central African countries (eg COMIFAC, ECCAS, CEMAC, OFAC etc), UN and multilateral agencies and humanitarian and developmental staff
• Participate actively in regional conferences and negotiations to ensure that the voices of people in the borderlands are heard, and that locally-led and conflict sensitive solutions are reflected in strategic decision-making

Responsible for strategic programme development

• Building and maintain relationships that may lead to new funding opportunities from bilateral, multilateral and other institutional donors
• Provide strategic support to fundraising providing timely information to support the development of new bids and engaging directly with donors

Leadership responsibility in the Regional Team

• Member of the Central African Regional Senior Leadership Team and will lead the CAR Country Senior Leadership Team supported collaboratively by the CAR Finance Manager
• Responsible for line managing three Peacebuilding Hub Managers
• Responsible for giving coaching, mentoring and technical support to the peacebuilding team in CAR, inspiring them in their roles and focusing their efforts to deliver rapid and sustainable results, whilst ensuring that staff development needs are met
• Promote clear lines of communication between staff members and offices, across the Central African Regional programme and with staff in the UK. Lead or participate in a system of team meetings, one-to-ones and informal gatherings
• Responsible for ensuring that staff development needs are met including training and appraisals
• Responsible for ensuring that CAR project staff understand and adhere to staff safety, security policies and plans and that such plans are kept up to date. Closely monitor the security dynamics in target areas and report to the Regional Director on significant changes in the security context
• Work collaboratively with finance staff to manage project resources, prepare project budgets, review and monitor spending and submit regular reports to the donor
• Work with Regional Head of MEAL to prepare regular donor reports to the donor

Who are Women’s Aid?

Women’s Aid is the national charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children. We are a federation of over 170 organisations which provide just under 300 local lifesaving services to women and children across England. For almost 50 years we have campaigned on behalf of our members and survivors to shape policy and practice, and to raise awareness of domestic abuse. 

Purpose of the post  

The post holder will oversee the day-to-day development and operational management of Women’s Aid Direct Services and be responsible for leading on service planning, delivery, impact monitoring, quality assurance and evaluation. You will be responsible for managing senior support workers and indirectly, support workers, bank staff and volunteers.

Key duties and responsibilities of the Manager of Direct Services:

• Assist the Head of Services in developing, implementing, and reporting on a strategic and operational plan for the direct services.
• Ensure the development and implementation of effective policies and procedures for all direct services.
• Assist with the development and maintenance of an equality framework and ensure the provision of direct services against agreed standards.
• Ensure the management, supervision, appraisal, and development of senior staff in the department, and other staff as required to ensure delivery of high-quality services in accordance with best practise.
• Assist with the recruitment and training of all direct services staff and volunteers.
• Ensure effective cover of Direct Services, co-ordinating the rota and shift patterns, contributing to on call shift cover 
• Responsible for safeguarding management and oversight/decision making in the need for emergency intervention.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislative requirements including safeguarding, GDPR, working time directives and relevant others 
• Work closely with managers and practitioners to ensure the consistent delivery of a high quality, functioning and efficient service.

• Work closely with the Head of Service and the Senior Support Workers to identify and respond to opportunities for income generation and participate in Business Development and Fund Raising as a subject expert.

What we are looking for in our Manager of Direct Services:

• Experience of direct work with survivors and their children who have experience of domestic violence or other forms of abuse.
• Demonstrable understanding of safeguarding issues and the management of risk.
• Experience of managing staff /volunteers including recruitment, training, supervision, and performance management. 
• Knowledge of safeguarding issues relating to working with domestic abuse survivors and children.
• Good working knowledge of GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation).
• Knowledge of the rights and options available to women and their children living with and fleeing domestic violence, including knowledge of relevant legislation. 
• A good understanding of the impact of domestic violence or other forms of violence on women and children.
• Knowledge of refuge provision and the range of services available for survivors and children affected by abuse provided across England and Wales. 
• Ability to lead and motivate a team to deliver high quality services.
• Education to a level that ensures a competent standard of literacy, numeracy, and analysis of complex information

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Project Manager with drive, intellectual curiosity, and excellent communication skills to join our small but dynamic Programme Management Office (PMO). The Project Manager will co-ordinate delivery of a small portfolio of projects within the Agile framework and will need to overcome challenges, escalate issues and risks and drive momentum. We’re looking for a Research Manager who combines exceptional ability in research and report-writing, with a real passion for (and experience in) peacebuilding. We offer flexible hours and working from home, anywhere in the world. It will be vital that you have an excellent grasp of the context in the Central African region, which will require time spent there and, ideally, significant prior knowledge.
In the first months of the programme, the team will consult at least three thousand people, with a combination of key informant interviews, individual questionnaires and focus groups to build both quantitative and qualitative datasets.
This will add to a dataset of over ten thousand consultations over 6 years, so you’ll have a unique evidence base at your disposal. We believe that, with your expertise and support, we could make better use of the rich information in these datasets, and we feel we owe that to the women and men we’ve consulted. The reports you produce will help amplify their voices, providing decision-makers in government and the international community with clear recommendations for activities that will address root causes of conflict and promote sustainable peace and development.

The Preclinical Research Manager will be responsible for overseeing the generation of research related content for the CP research team and interacting with the research community to provide support and advice in their projects. 

The Main Purpose of the Role:

The Preclinical Research Manager will be responsible for overseeing the generation of research related content for the CP research team and interacting with the research community to provide support and advice in their projects (either being considered or funded by the charity).

Key Responsibilities:

• Working closely with the Director of Research whose main responsibility is the implementation and delivery of the Cure Parkinson’s research strategy.
• Generating Parkinson’s research-related material for a scientific audience, including:
  • Research reports for publication in scientific journals (such as our annual Drug Development Pipeline report – McFarthing et al, 2023).
  • Long format scientific justifications for CP funded clinical trials for the CP website.
  • Short format lay summaries of new research (with the Research Liaison and Research Communication Officers) for various CP platforms.
  • Preparation of posters of CP research for presentation at conferences (with the Research Comms Officer).
  • Facilitating the Research Liaison Officer’s development within this area.
• Regular monitoring of publications and developments in Parkinson’s research, communicating these topics internally to help generate relevant material for the CP website (with the Research Comms Officer and Marketing team).
• Supporting the Director of Research with the scoping, drafting and shaping of drug dossiers for consideration at the annual international Linked Clinical Trials (iLCT) meeting.
• Working with the Director of Research and the Research Manager to develop and coordinate the annual iLCT Pipeline Research Acceleration Funding Programme call.
• Working with the Director of Research and the Research Manager to scope and develop a researcher portal for sharing non-confidential iLCT material.
• Leading on the development of scientific events, workshops and meetings (such as CP’s quarterly webinar series with the Journal of Parkinson’s Disease).

Person Specifications:

The successful applicant will need to work closely with other sections of the charity to understand and support the research needs of the organisation as a whole. For their primary function, they will ideally have:

• A PhD with experience in preclinical research related to Parkinson’s or neurodegeneration.
• A strong understanding of Parkinson’s disease biology and the current preclinical models (in vitro and in vivo) used to investigate it.
• Knowledge of the broader Parkinson’s research field, such as genetics, potential therapeutic targets and drugs currently in development.
• Significant experience in the management and leadership of group projects.
• Experience in the setting up and management of meeting and events.
• Excellent communication skills with experience in presenting at both academic meetings and to general audiences, across in-person and virtual formats.
• Solid problem solving skills across varied settings.

Outward are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated and committed Deputy Manager to join our Enfield learning disability services at Linwood Crescent to manage a service for 14 residents living in a supported living service which caters for older people with additional health needs. This is a fantastic opportunity to join our dedicated, caring and supportive staff team.  The aim of the service is to enable the people we support to enjoy a good quality of life maximising independence and skills progression where possible.

The Role

The deputy manager would support the manager with recruiting and managing the large staff team, creating a culture of positive behaviour support within a personalised environment, embedding quality standards, achieving and progressing good outcomes with the people we support. As well as managing the service safely within the regulations and standard required by CQC.

You will act as a role model in the delivery of active support you will promote and maintain person centred approaches and inclusive community links to achieve positive outcomes with the people we support from the frontline staff team.

Skills and Expertise

· To share our values of enabling, empowering and engaging and implement these

· A minimum of 1 years’ experience of providing support to people with learning disabilities/ autism and or complex needs and or behaviours of concern

· Have excellent communication skills and be able to build positive relationships with internal and external partners – staff, professionals, people we support, families

· Be confident in using your own initiative able to deputise for the Service Manager

· Have strong IT skills and able to manage own time and work under pressure

· Creativity, motivation and enthusiasm to bring new ideas into the service and to implement these to shape the service as part of continuous improvement

· QCF Level 5 in Leadership for Health and Social Care, or equivalent or willingness to gain a qualification

· Experience of staff management and the ability to lead and develop a large team ensuring staff are appropriately trained

· Experience of carrying out needs assessments and creating support and risk management plans for people with complex needs

· The ability to deliver the service in accordance with an individual support plans, the service specification and CQC requirements

· A commitment to providing high quality, personalised active support

· Knowledge of managing a budget is desirable

Chalk Farm Tenant Management Organisation (TMO) is looking for a competent leader with a passion for social housing to manage our housing organisation.

Located close to the historic Camden Market, the TMO provides housing services and community activities for residents of the estate. Sustainably funded by Camden Council long term, this is an ideal opportunity for a candidate with experience in management and a real interest in social housing, who values the autonomy of working in a small and close knit organisation.

As estate manager, your main duties will be to:

1. Give the TMO the strategy it needs to deliver an excellent housing service for residents.

2. Ensure that the TMO is adequately and responsibly resourced.

3. Ensure that the TMO complies with the Management Agreement signed with Camden Council, all applicable legislation, and current best practice.

4. Provide effective day-to-day leadership, management and supervision of staff.

5. Uphold a service culture which puts residents’ satisfaction at the heart of delivery. 

6. Ensure the effective delivery of the TMO’s housing management functions.

7. Work in partnership with the committee to deliver continuous improvement and good value across all TMO managed and contracted services.

This could be you if you have:

• 4 years+ experience of managing staff, and at least 2 years experience of reporting to a board;

• good knowledge of housing law or current issues relating to social housing;

• experience in procuring contracts and managing contractors;

• a proactive, can-do attitude, and an ability to motivate a team;

• excellent numerical and IT literacy, including a record of preparing and scrutinising budgets;

• Either a Level 4 Certificate in Housing, or an undergraduate degree (2:1 or above), and are prepared to enrol in the 1 year online Level 4 course by the Chartered Institute for Housing. 

The TMO is prepared to fund the Level 4 course, and to support a bright manager with a successful track record of delivery to transition into social housing.

The Role

Terms & Conditions

Place of work: Fully remote, with occasional 2/3 nights away for year-round events.

Working Hours: 37 hrs—a minimum of core hours from 10 am to 3 pm Monday through Friday must be met.

Salary: £35,000 – 40,000, dependent on experience

Holiday entitlement: Begins at 25 days per annum, in addition to public holidays.
