Job Summary

Working with communications and fundraising colleagues, the Celebrity & Influencer Relations Manager will attract, engage and develop new and existing relationships with high profile individuals to enhance our external brand and create and share compelling stories about St John and our work.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Significant experience of working closely with high-profile individuals and talent managers to deliver meaningful engagement. 
• Previous experience of successfully creating and executing a strategy for enhancing a brand through engaging celebrities and high-profile individuals 
• Experience of utilising audience insight and landscape awareness to identify suitable celebrities/influencers to enhance our brand development. 
• Experience of working within the not-for-profit sector 
• A collaborative, creative style with excellent written and verbal communication skills

 About the Role 

• Lead the implementation of a celebrity strategy and engagement plan to establish, cultivate, and maintain strong relationships with high profile individuals
• Work with the Brand & Communications and Fundraising teams to proactively identify and grow relationships with talent that broadens our reach as a charity 
• Develop creative concepts which can be used to engage celebrities and amplify their involvement across multiple channels and platforms. Draft briefing notes for celebrities, quotes and press releases about their activity. 
• Review existing relationships with high profile supporters and assess where there are opportunities to leverage these relationships to help deliver St John strategic messages. 
• Develop and participate in a network of counterparts at other charities to maintain a focus on continual improvement and innovation within this field in relation to high profile supporters and upskill St John People to spot opportunities for celebrity engagement.

Context of the role.

The successful candidate will be guided by the Communications & Fundraising Officer to communicate the experiences of refugees and asylum seekers and demonstrate the impact of Upbeat Communities to our supporters and followers, as well as to new audiences. They will have a positive attitude and love communicating what we do as a charity.

The role can mostly be done remotely; however, it will be required for the candidate to travel to our base in Derby a minimum of 1 day a week to stay connected to the team, and for team meetings and training as and when they occur.

Upbeat Communities was founded in response to the needs of refugees arriving in the UK and the stories they shared of their lives and their journeys. Through building relationships with those from refugee communities we were able to identify their needs and the best ways to respond.

One of the best resources a refugee can have to help them settle in their new home is a good social network. Relationships and connectedness can help overcome the many challenges faced by those seeking refuge. With this aim, we want to help connect refugees into community.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Content creation

•  Creating written and visual content for social media and our website.
• Finding useful resources, articles, and news to be shared on our website, blog and social media.

Social media and website

•  Day-to-day management of Upbeat’s social media accounts including creating and scheduling content, replying to messages, and interacting with followers.
•  Updating the website with relevant images, statistics, and news.

Supporter stewardship

• Following Upbeat’s donations process, ensure donors are thanked in an appropriate and timely manner, and that all communications are logged on to our database (Donorfy).
• Researching local fundraising or awareness-raising opportunities and events.

Other

• Working with Upbeat’s Communications & Fundraising Officer on larger-scale fundraising campaigns throughout the year, as well as the communication of these campaigns.
• Making an active contribution to the overall work of Upbeat Communities through team meetings, staff training, awareness and fundraising events, and any other appropriate activities.

Voluntary Action Harrow Co-operative work with the local community providing information, training and guidance.

Based in Harrow, we are a not-for-profit co-operative owned by our workers. We have in-depth knowledge of the local area and of who’s doing what. Our members collectively have over 35 years’ experience in the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector, specialising in capacity building in a variety of different organisational development areas.

 To be successful, it is important that you have:

• Previous experience in customer/supporter loyalty and retention marketing.
• Experience working on fundraising cash appeals or other income generating campaigns.
• Proficiency in delivering marketing initiatives across various channels, most notably Direct Mail, Email, Digital.
• Some experience with Telemarketing and SMS would be desirable but not essential.
• Demonstrated ability to grow existing supporter value through communication journeys, supporter experience enhancements, or donor care initiatives.
• Project management skills with a track record of supporting the delivery of complex projects on time and within budget.
• Experience collaborating with external partners, such as creative agencies, fulfilment houses, or telemarketing agencies.
• Familiarity with developing and delivering fundraising and marketing assets both online and offline, with knowledge of both data and print processes for direct marketing.
• Ability to utilise data and insights to inform marketing strategies, track results, manage budgets, and make data-driven decisions.

About the role

At a time of growth and of new opportunities for the Motability Foundation, we are looking for a Public Affairs Manager to join our Communications Team and lead our Public Affairs activity for the organisation.

Our vision is to fund, support, research, and innovate, so all disabled people can make the journeys they choose. There are an estimated 16 million disabled people in the UK, and this role will play a crucial part in our work to raise awareness of the work of the Motability Foundation, amplify the voices of disabled people and to influence policy.

·This new role will work alongside our new Evidence and Policy Manager, based in our Innovation team, and other colleagues across the organization as well as key partners (Motability Operations), to manage our horizon scanning and monitoring of the political landscape, leading on advising our Governors, CEO and senior management team on actions we need to take, and preparing detailed briefings for engagements, and events with Parliamentarians and senior Ministers. The role holder will develop, implement and lead our Public Affairs and Government Engagement Plan, and proactively identify and develop opportunities to influence and shape policy where it may have a positive impact for disabled people.

With a General Election and potential welfare reform on the horizon, this role is especially important and experience in creating and implementing post-election public affairs strategies, leading activities across the team and devising and managing structured results reporting to the organisation, is highly desirable.

What you will be doing

• Develop, implement and manage our public affairs strategy, leading on public affairs activities aligned with the Motability Foundation’s vision and overall strategy.
• Amplify the Motability Foundation’s voice in Parliament, across the devolved nations, and in political spheres, building, developing and managing relationships with parliamentarians, decision-makers and stakeholders.
• Manage our horizon scanning and monitoring of the political, legislative and regulatory landscape in relation to the work of the Motability Foundation, leading on advising the business on actions we need to take.
• Provide sharp political intelligence, insight, advice and briefings for Governors, directors, senior management and a variety of audiences across the organization.
• Support the establishment of the Motability Foundation’s policy positions and delivering our influencing objectives.
• Manage a contact program for Parliamentarians, raising awareness of the work of the Motability Foundation, establishing regular meetings for senior leaders where relevant, and facilitating dialogue on issues relevant to our work.
• Working closely with the Evidence and Policy Manager to manage the dissemination of any policy output for presentation to the external world.

Your experience

Must haves:

• Strong grasp of parliamentary processes in Westminster, Scotland and the other devolved nations.
• Ability to initiate and manage projects independently while contributing effectively to team efforts.
• Experience in proactively identifying opportunities to influence.
• Strong communication skills, with an ability to grasp complex issues quickly and share information in an accessible way across a variety of audiences.
• Ability to facilitate sensitive internal and stakeholder conversations to reach a point of consensus.
• Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders in Government, industry, and other charities and foundations.
• Experience of operating effectively in a complex environment with multiple agendas and stakeholders.
• Highly IT literate with extensive experience of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

Nice to haves:

• Understanding of key disability and transport issues, such as the social model of disability, inclusive micro mobility and the transition to electric vehicles.

At Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice we care for children and young adults with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions. Our support services are wide ranging and bespoke to each family including end of life treatment and care, respite short breaks, counselling, sibling support groups, music therapy, home visits and much much more. 

It costs more than £5m each year to keep our doors open for families across South Yorkshire and beyond. We receive around 15% of our funding from government and the rest is sourced by our Income Generation team.  

The role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Income Generation team at Bluebell Wood and we are now on the lookout for an experienced fundraiser to join us and take on the responsibility of developing, implementing and delivering the hospice’s Individual Giving portfolio.  

This is an area with a potential for significant growth over the next 1-3 years and beyond, and we are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable self-starter to steer the next chapter of our progress and development as our Individual Giving Fundraiser.

The successful candidate will oversee the delivery and administration of Bluebell Wood’s Individual Giving income streams (in memory, legacy and regular giving) and work with the Individual Giving Manager to plan and implement a strategy to increase income growth in this area.

• Create content for, and be responsible for maintaining, our internal channels, including our staff intranet.

• Be responsible for the coordination and distribution of our manager bulletins.

What you’ll bring:

• Experience of delivering effective internal communications that drive participation and engagement. 
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a meticulous eye for attention to detail and excellence in delivery.
• Excellent prioritisation and organisation skills, alongside a flexible approach. 
• Demonstrable experience of building trusted relationships with co-workers and an ability to influence when needed. 
• An understanding of data and analytics to support the monitoring of internal engagement performance.
