A little bit about the role 

Location: North East of England based with occasional travel throughout the region to local authorities in the North East

We will consider a secondment opportunity from any of our local authority partners, providing both parties agree.

To help us achieve our mission, we are recruiting qualified social workers with direct experience of working with children and families, and knowledge and experience of supporting social work students. We are looking for candidates who can contribute to the delivery of teaching across the year, support participants in their local authority hubs and supervise participants during the 2nd year of the programme.

Practice Tutors (PTs) work closely as a peer group to share effective ways of working across participant practice hubs, local authorities and regions. They play a key role within the development and delivery of our social work curriculum, contributing knowledge and expertise to create a culture that promotes outstanding social work education and enables teams to do their best work.

PTs are responsible for teaching and developing participants at the Readiness to Practice stage, regional teaching days and, in participant hubs within local authorities. PTs support four practice hubs, based within statutory children’s social care services. Each practice hub is led by a Consultant Social Worker (CSW). Core to the Practice Tutor role is the ability to provide support, challenge and guidance to participants and CSWs to ensure a high-quality
practice learning experience.

Some key responsibilities include:

• Use social work knowledge, theory, practice skill and experience to develop and support participants to become outstanding social workers
• Support CSWs to lead the hubs, role model best social work practice and support effective practice educators
• ​Teaching for year one participants is during the Readiness for Practice stage both in person and online, attend face to face regional recall days and whole cohort online teaching.. There is also online teaching for our year 2 participants on the programme through large lectures, small seminars and one to one support as necessary

We are looking for a registered social worker with experience in teaching and learning, and an intellectual curiosity to challenge and develop their own ideas by keeping up to date with current research and evidence. The role will suit someone who is passionate about the development of social work practice, innovation and leadership who has a thought-through vision of what excellent social work looks like.

Job Purpose:Responsible for management of rental income across YMCA East Surrey Housing schemes to ensure accuracy of rent accounts and service user information held on the rent management database

Hours of work:28 or 35 hours a week. Flexible to be discussed though likely 3/4 days office based and one day from home

Main Responsibilities:

 · To process residents rent and payments received on the housing management system (Pyramid) in order to achieve rent collection and arrears targets.

· Ensure all housing debts are pursued with the resident and local authorities ensuring all actions are recorded and payment plans are agreed with the resident.

· Effectively implement the rent arrears procedure to ensure warnings and eviction notices are served in a timely manner and in accordance with legal procedures

· Pass to Finance colleagues all requests for relevant council tax payments from local authorities

· Ensure receipts from Surrey County Council are correctly allocated between rent accounts and any support element is recorded as Housing Support based on bank payments sent by the Finance team to the housing team. Provide Finance with this information so they can enter onto finance system

· Input bank credits to match bank receipts from finance and posting onto Pyramid (housing management system).

· Work closely with the Head of Finance and support them with the month end reconciliation of receipts and arrears balance

· Lead on Discretionary Housing Payments requests, benefit issues and enquiries with the local authorities

· Maintain accurate rent accounts on the Pyramid housing management system ensuring information is recorded accurately.

· Work closely with the Housing Team and Finance Team on rent and support income management developing good working relations with them.

· Represent the organization in court possessions and evictions where necessary.

· Run monthly rent reports as directed by Head of Housing and Head of Finance

· Work closely with the Finance Officer (income) in relation to any queries about rent charged and payments received.

· Provide cover for the Finance Officer (income) where needed (after training)

· Maintain and submission of pre-card card processes

· Meet with the Head of Finance, Head of Housing and Finance Officer (income) to review housing arrears monthly.

· Ensure processes are followed and systems are updated to support the Key Housing Performance Indicator targets.

· Contribute and represent the organisation in a positive manner in team/management meetings both internally and externally.

· Have knowledge of the external environment in which the YMCA works and keep abreast of key changes particularly around Welfare Reform

· To attend appropriate continuing professional development and training events and be committed to team events.

· Any other duties are required to be performed within the grade and renumeration of the role

Main Purpose of Job

We are looking for a personable and committed individual responsible for providing a comprehensive project that benefits young people, local schools & businesses, and the wider community in the London borough of Hounslow.

This post will involve youth outreach, targeted mentoring, and collaboration with schools and local businesses. The role entails coordinating outreach on three local high streets, conducting school assemblies, running a weekly roadshow, and managing a caseload of mentees. The individual will work with referral partners to identify young people both externally referred and from outreach sessions, schools, and weekly sessions for programme engagement, and will pinpoint suitable progression routes and development opportunities focusing on but not limited to health and wellbeing, life skills, and education and employability.

Mentoring and session delivery will primarily occur in the afternoons/evenings to accommodate young people’s schedules, with some sessions during school/working hours. The role also includes supporting the delivery and development of our Communities Engagement and Education department, encompassing estate-based programmes, holiday camps, and targeted mentoring.

You will be required to collaborate with the Local Authority and Police teams to timetable in outreach delivery and design workshops for retail staff around themes including respect, managing behaviour, and safeguarding.

About You

You will have knowledge and experience of Youth Work, Coaching or Mentoring and manging sessions and caseloads. Experience of working with vulnerable young people is essential. You will have the ability to realte well with young people from different backgrounds and an understanding of the current issues and barriers that impact them. 

The postholder will have good orgnisation skills with good attention to detail, have a postive and flexible approach with the abiltiy to demonstrate high levels care. You will enjoy working in a team environment. 

This role involves a commitment in working three evenings a week, and additional evenings when required.

About the team

Our Lived Experience Insight Team’s aim is to ensure that the views of those affected by the housing emergency shape and influence all of Shelter’s work. People with lived experience are involved in a range of different ways, through forums and events in local communities, sharing their story as part of campaigns, and speaking out about the issues that affect them. This helps ensure that our services and campaigns are developed alongside local communities and so that lived experience informs everything we do.

About the role

This is an exciting role within our Lived Experience Insight team where you will be involved in developing and co-ordinating an impactful involvement and coproduction programme that helps us to deliver meaningful opportunities for people with lived experiences. We’ll rely on you to influence and shape the work that Shelter does by influencing culture change across the organisation and improving our practices around Lived Experience Insight in line with our strategic aims. You’ll not only lead elements of our Strategic Plan, but you’ll also support our colleagues across teams to develop their practice through design, delivery of training, resources and project support.  

You’ll be line managing a small team of our Lived Experience Coordinators to support them in delivering our programmes across their region that aligns to local strategic priorities. Ensuring that you and your team develop and deliver monitoring tools will help us to make continuous improvements to the work we do both on a local scale and across the nation. And as part of this role, we’ll count on you to provide wellbeing support to all those involved with Shelter, ensuring a high quality experience when working closely with participants and supporting their personal development.

You’ll have an understanding of how lived experience of bad housing or homelessness can impact an individual, and the ability to support individuals in sharing their insights  and experiences. What’s more, is your experience of people management means you are great at supporting your team to plan and coordinate multiple complex projects and activities across your region, with an ability to prioritise workload. You’ll have proven ability to facilitate training, workshops, webinars or coproduction activities with  people with lived experience, while ensuring a safe and inclusive space where everybody can contribute. You’re adept at developing successful relationships not only with colleagues at Shelter, but also local organisations and partners too, with the ability to influence and collaborate.

Head of People

We are seeking an experienced Head of People to drive forward the HR Strategy, manage the People Team, and support a growing Network of Youth Zones.

This is a permanent role offering hybrid working.

About the Role

Reporting to the Director of People, a key focus of this role will be to provide hands-on management to an experienced People consisting of a People Support Manager and Talent Acquisition Coordinator.

However, it is much wider than team management; it is about relationships. Relationships with internal colleagues, relationships with Network contacts, and relationships with third party suppliers. • Experience of directly securing charitable income from a variety of sources, in particular grant funders and individuals OR demonstrable business development experience and an appetite to learn.

About the Role

MSI Reproductive Choices (MSI) is one of the 20 largest charities in the UK; providing family planning & safe abortion services across the globe. MSI operates as a social enterprise, and revenues are split between donor income and revenue from clients that receive our services.

The Global Accounting Team is responsible for core financial accounting, producing consolidated global financial information and preparing the group management accounts, group statutory accounts and Global Support Office management accounts

MSI receives substantial amounts (> £160m p.a.) of funding from a variety of governmental and private donors (including DFID, USAID and Gates Foundation) for its international family planning activities in 37 countries around the world. We are recruiting a talented, experienced and driven accountant to lead restricted income accounting across the organisation

• Experience in project accounting and financial management of large international projects and country programmes
• Experience of financial reporting to governmental, private, and institutional donors
• Experience working with financial systems and software (SUN systems preferred) and Q&A
• Experience working in a not-for-profit environment (Preferred) and organisational headquarters.

The following is desirable but not necessary

• A degree in a numerate subject and/or professional finance qualification.
• Studying towards an accountancy qualification – CIMA / ACCA / ACA / ICAEW
• Certified accountant ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent

Full-time: 35 hours a week, Monday to Friday (For UK based team members).

Contract type: Permanent

Salary: £40,000 - £51,000 per annum for UK based candidates. Discretionary bonus + benefits. For all other locations, the salary will be banded within the national context.

Salary band: BG9
