About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference by playing a vital role in our work across the North East. Reporting into the local team and supported by the national fundraising team, this role will be responsible for engaging volunteers both as individuals and groups across the area to raise funds for MHA. You will work closely with all MHA services, building relationships and inspiring and empowering local fundraising to enable those who choose to use our services to thrive. This will include supporting those who wish to fundraise In Memory and utilising MHA’s fundraising products.
A portion of your time will also be spent working in collaboration with community fundraisers across the country on fundraising initiatives and guides which will benefit both your area and community fundraising nationally.
The role will provide an effective and efficient service supporting the organisation and our homes and schemes to meet our vision, values and strategic objectives.

About You
Are you a passionate and skilled community fundraiser keen to play a key role in building a local network of community fundraising volunteers? Do you have a passion for working with supporters, building meaningful relationships and inspiring supporters whilst ensuring your work aligns with the results we need? Working well as a team player you will work closely with both operational colleagues in your area and the wider Fundraising Team, ensuring a focus on getting the right result for the organisation and building lasting and substantial relationships with funders. You will be an effective communicator developing trusting relationships, taking everyone with you on the journey.

Community Fundraisers are remote/hybrid based, with some presence expected at your local office or Hospice. Women’s Aid is the national charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children. We are a federation of over 170 organisations which provide just under 300 local lifesaving services to women and children across England. For almost 50 years we have campaigned on behalf of our members and survivors to shape policy and practice, and to raise awareness of domestic abuse.
Purpose of the Community Fundraising Officer role:
As Community Fundraising Officer, the successful candidate will play an integral role in nurturing relationships with existing and prospective supporters, as well as overseeing a portfolio of community fundraising events and activities in order to increase donations. Attending fundraising events and networking will be a key part of the role, paired with a thorough understanding of Women’s Aid work, business plans and strategic priorities.
Key duties and responsibilities of the Community Fundraising Officer:
- To be responsible for a rolling calendar of events and activities. Providing fundraisers with tailored stewardship, resources, ideas and recognition for their event to maximise income and cultivate them to become a long-term supporter of Women’s Aid.
- To assist with the development and production of a range of fundraising stewardship materials including posters, our fundraising newsletter and annual thank you to donors.
- To work closely with key internal stakeholders both to understand and be able to package up their work into clear compelling asks for all stewardship documents.
- To ensure appropriate means of monitoring and evaluation of fundraising events and activities are established to feed into the fundraising team’s KPIs.
- To use the fundraising database to produce reports and analyse success rates, to feed into the fundraising strategy.
- To take responsibility for purchasing places for events through raising Purchase Orders and invoices where appropriate.

About the charity: Cavernomas look like raspberries and are found in the brain and spinal cord. They're formed of abnormal blood vessels with thin leaky walls, which can bleed at any age without warning. 1 in 625 people are thought to have a cavernoma, and whilst most people won't experience symptoms 1 in 2,700 do. Symptoms can include haemorrhages, seizures and other neurological problems. Treatment involves 'wait and see', neurosurgery or stereotactic radiosurgery; with no medications currently available.
Cavernoma Alliance UK (CAUK) is a member-led organisation, run by and for those impacted by cavernoma with more information available on our website. We work from a model of empowerment, recognising the value of our members’ lived experience to provide mutual support, improve standards of care and drive research into finding a cure.
Since the charity was founded in 2005 it has grown from a volunteer-led organisation based in Dorchester to a UK wide registered charity that now has 2 part-time permanent staff, looking to increase to 4 Part-time staff (all home-based), 50+ volunteers, and 4,000+ members. About the roles: The Member Support Assistant is responsible for assisting our Volunteer Manager with administration relating to the support of the charity’s 4,000 members and volunteers. The role involves supporting the membership and volunteering processes, ensuring all admin is accurate and up to date. The Events and Office Assistant is responsible for assisting the Charity Manager with the administration of events alongside some general office activities for the charity. This includes assisting with the organisation of the virtual Annual Conference, virtual Monthly Information Webinars, in-person Annual Snowdon Climb for Cavernoma, online Cavernoma Awareness Month activities, in-person Autumn Lecture, virtual Secret Santa, attendance by volunteers at external conferences, and any other events organised by CAUK. We are seeking a Senior Fundraising Leader to secure funding from diverse sources to support our program and initiatives. - Plan; manage; deliver; monitor and maintain oversight of LTT’s Trust and Foundation fundraising portfolio, activities and opportunities. Target is to raise in excess of £300,000 per annum from UK and International Trusts, Foundations, other Institutional Donors and individuals in 2025-6 and increase by £40,000 a year thereafter.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
This position will focus on sourcing and developing potential national and international funders who provide single and multi-year grants in excess of £10,000 including those who do not accept unsolicited grants.
Duties include:
- Develop and manage opportunity pipelines of prospective funders, planning introductions.
- Write compelling, concise, well-presented, tailored approaches and grant applications in Word and Canva.
- Liaise with the Operations team, to gather the relevant information for grant applications (e.g. data, case studies, imagery etc).
- Ensure systems are kept up to date with all details of grant application documents, progress and outcomes and any other interactions with funders.
- Work with partners in Tanzania to offer them support and guidance
- Draft programme reports for projects for which you have raised funds.
- Contribute with other team members to the organisational budgeting process, by producing a detailed breakdown of opportunities and likelihood of success.
- Contribute to production of key external documents which may impact Trust and Foundation fundraising e.g. Annual Report & Accounts, Impact Report.
- Attend team meetings at least twice a year
- Attend relevant third-party events/training as required.
- Attend and assist with some LTT fundraising events.

Key Requirements
