About you

The successful candidate will have proven campaigning and influencing success with a track record of delivering change. You will be an experienced people manager and able to lead multiple projects with limited supervision, as well as have an expert understanding of the political environment in Northern Ireland.

The right person will have a strong network across Northern Ireland’s political parties, including elected representatives, and Government departments, as well as good media connections, which they are able to use to support the delivery of the charity’s public affairs strategy.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced public affairs manager looking to progress their career in a high-profile charity. You will manage the Policy and Public Affairs team in Northern Ireland and lead the delivery of evidence-based and carer-led public affairs, campaigning, media and research activity across Northern Ireland.

With your team you will lead on a wide range of activity including Carers NI’s policy, research and campaigning work; as well as being responsible for the delivery of awareness campaigns like Carers Week and Carers Rights Day; fronting media and social media activity and representing the charity at the highest level of decision-making in Northern Ireland.

Carers NI’s Policy and Public Affairs team also leads on the Carer Poverty Commission in NI, as well as the Advocacy and Voice Project for unpaid carers, which you will be responsible for delivering.

Remote and flexible with regular travel throughout Northern Ireland and some travel across the UK will be required

Role description and purpose

The post-holder will be responsible for the successful leadership and management of CPA’s portfolio of programmes in line with the strategic direction set by the Council and Trustees. Reporting directly to the CEO, the post-holder will be a key member of the senior management team, leading the Programme/Project Management team and working with the Finance Manager, Communications Lead, Research Lead, Advisors and other key staff to develop and deliver CPA programmes across the Commonwealth and beyond. This will include strategic planning, project and team management, development of workplans and budgets, provision of leadership, good governance and oversight of all programme-related activities. This role will be responsible for engaging and working with external agencies, subject matter experts, and all relevant stakeholders to ensure the on-budget delivery of high-quality outputs across CPA’s portfolio of programmes. The post holder will also be required to work with other Leads and key staff across the organisation to scope and develop relationships with potential funders and support the creation of funding proposals for future programmes and workstreams, integrating their delivery into the overall programmes portfolio.

Key duties and responsibilities

Leadership and operational planning, management and oversight

• Collaborate with the Board, CEO and key staff to develop and advance the organisational strategic plan and goals and ensure programme areas align with strategic plan.

• Implement the strategic plan, integrating all aspects of the organisation’s work into programmes, including policy, advocacy, communications, product development, research and evaluation.

• Work with the CEO and senior management team, creating, maintaining, and/or overseeing systems and processes to ensure effective management of the daily operations of the programmes team and an organisational structure that supports the organisation’s goals.

Programme planning and management

• Oversee and lead the development and delivery of high-quality programmes, services and resources in line with users’ needs and the wider global health landscape, taking into consideration other relevant internal and external programmes, services and resources already available or under development.

• Lead and direct the appropriate use of programme resources including staffing and finances, ensuring programmes are delivered to budget in accordance to agreed KPIs and outcomes.

• Manage grant life cycles, from request to close. This entails supporting the writing of/reviewing applications, overseeing budgets, reviewing or producing relevant reports, and monitoring impact.

• Deepen existing relationships with donors, agencies, and stakeholders to enhance programme sustainability, engaging with key stakeholders to understand their needs and align programme offerings accordingly.

• Working with other key staff, and in alignment with the strategic priorities of the charity, support the identification and development of new partnerships and funding opportunities to expand the programme portfolio.

Human resources planning and management

• Leading the programmes team, including direct line management responsibility, regular one-to-ones, team meetings, pastoral support and appraisals.

• Determine human resource requirements for the management and delivery of programmes, services and resources; recruit, select and appoint appropriate staff according to need and funding availability.

• Ensure adherence to human resources policies, procedures and practices including the development of job descriptions for all staff.

• Establish and maintain good staff relationships and morale, ensuring a healthy and safe work environment in accordance with all appropriate legislation and regulations.

• Identify and develop systems to support staff development and identify opportunities for staff development where possible.

Cross-team working and collaboration

• Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure that programmes, services and resources are effectively communicated/disseminated and evaluated.

• Use available data and information for evidence-based decision making, to continuously develop and improve programmes, services and resources.

External relationships, strategic partnerships and collaboration

• Advocate for and communicate the organisation’s vision, objectives, core programmes, services and resources to all relevant stakeholders, building strong partnerships that further the organisation’s profile and reputation.

• Attend and report at core organisational meetings, and relevant internal and external conferences and events, raising the profile of the CPA and gathering strategic insights relevant to the organisation’s programmes and wider vision and mission.

• Significant programme leadership experience within the international development/global health context.

• Experience of working in a not-for-profit organisation/NGO.

• 5 years plus programme management experience, including development and implementation of governance processes, financial and risk management.

• Excellent organisational and planning skills with the ability to devise, plan and execute work plans to budget within strict timelines to deliver objectives.

• Proven business development skills, with evidence of successful funding awards and/or product development in a growing organisation.

• Demonstrable experience of team working, with proven track record in managing, developing and motivating a team.

• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, relationship building and influencing skills.

• Experience with managing funder and / or high level stakeholders relationship.

• Comfortable balancing competing demands and delivery of high-quality outputs in line with objectives and timelines.

About the Role

The Senior L&D Manager will drive the vision towards L&D becoming part of the every day, and not the once a year. You will work with Department Heads and Youth Zone CEO’s to support staff to be the best they can be, removing barriers and enabling them to be entrepreneurial and innovative. Into Film is the UK’s leading charity for film in education and the community. We provide screen industry careers information and advice, support young filmmakers and bring the power of moving image storytelling into classroom teaching.

Role Summary

The Programme Coordinator (Scotland) is a key point of contact for the Into Film Programme in Scotland and delivers Into Film’s Programmes and projects both face to face and online within a bespoke Scottish context/approach. This will require detailed knowledge and understanding of the education and screen industry landscape in Scotland. 

Due to the nature of the role, occasional weekend and extended working hours are required, along with regular travel to designated regions and occasional travel elsewhere in the UK.

Main Responsibilities: 

• To deliver various elements of the new Into Film programme in Scotland including, but not limited to, CPD/training for teachers at all career stages, events, conferences, round tables, Teachmeet style gatherings and teacher panels both online and face to face
• To develop, sustain and be the local point of contact for schools, partners, individuals and organisations that add value or are users of the Into Film programme including a focus on EEDI and how Into Film can specifically, positively reach and include those who are underserved and underrepresented.
• To feed into and then deliver the plans in Scotland across the programme (including Teaching with Film, Careers and Progression and Young Creatives (plus Into Film Festival, Into Film Awards and additionally funded programmes, as needed) 
• To work with all departments at Into Film to ensure a joined-up approach and delivery of set outcomes, KPIs whilst adhering to budgets and deadlines
• To ensure Scotland-wide reach and to feed into UK wide work and awareness of Into Film Programmes responding where possible to local needs
• Activation and delivery of the programme across Scotland including feeding relevant regional content into email campaigns and managing the regional social media account.
• Managing local partnerships and relationships with individuals and organisations
• Utilise CRM to input and analyse data, creating dashboards and reports.
• Feeding into fundraising proposals and assessing the activity needed to achieve outcomes when planning a project.

About You

We are looking for a team player with a positive mindset and technical expertise in website management and digital fundraising.

You will need to have the following skills and experience:

• Proven Website management experience, excellent knowledge of working in CMS systems and leading on more complex back-end and development projects.
• Proficient in effectively using data analysis tools (Google Analytics, Tag Manager) and user experience optimisation tools (HotJar), to inform future website projects to optimise traffic and experience.
• Email marketing experience, proficient in using Mailchimp, writing copy and setting up more complex email journeys.
• Digital Fundraising experience, with a track record setting up digital advertising.
• Experience producing budgets, reporting variances against the plan and re-forecasting.
• Strong copywriter email content.

About the role

The Hardman Trust supports people on long prison sentences to take their next steps in life. As the programme & volunteer coordinator your role is to help make this a reality through the coordination of programmes in line with our business plan, and overseeing the recruitment, onboarding and support of our volunteers. 

Your role is designed to flex to coordinate existing or new programmes as the needs of our organisation and its users evolve. In its first year, your role will be to coordinate our Penfriends letter writing programme and our grants programme. This will involve growing both programmes across the estate, liaising with prisons to ensure the smooth running of both programmes, and ensuring sufficient volunteer coverage. You will have day-to-day administrative support from our Office, Programmes and Grants Administrator to complete administrative tasks, and you will be supported by the Head of Service Delivery to embed an organisational-wide approach to volunteering.

With an enthusiasm for our mission, you will be a good communicator, professional, well organised and eager to support those we are here to serve. Working Arrangements and Travel Requirements

Rainforest Trust UK staff work remotely and you will be expected to work primarily from home with an excellent internet connection. You may be based anywhere in the UK but you will be expected to work from a shared team space in London once a month, and your donor meetings/events are most likely to take place there.

The postholder will be required to host networking events and attend some online meetings with our partners in the U.S so some (early) evening working is required.
