About the Role
The Finance Director will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of both Freeways and Freeways Trust and will be responsible for developing and delivering financial strategies that align with the charities' objectives while maintaining financial sustainability. This position also involves overseeing financial management, ensuring compliance and leading the finance team to achieve operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership and Financial Planning: Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to set strategic direction and develop financial strategies and budgets. Develop the financial strategy and five-year budget plan, including capital investment plans and cashflow forecasts that align with strategic priorities and operational plans.
- Financial Management and Control: Oversee finance operations, ensure timely reporting, and lead the annual audit process. Maintain, review, and update internal financial controls across the finance function, identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial risks. Be responsible for the review and audit of financial processes across the organisation including for the people we support.
- Organisational Performance: Manage budget-setting and performance tracking, providing insightful analysis to stakeholders.
- Governance: Act as Company Secretary, ensuring compliance with charity law and maintaining essential records with the Charity Commission and Companies House.
- Leadership, Management and Culture: Build strong relationships with key stakeholders and lead the finance team to achieve operational excellence and foster a positive organisational culture.
About You
You will be a qualified and experienced finance professional with strong leadership skills and a commitment to improving financial processes. Your strategic thinking and exceptional communication skills will allow you to explain complex financial information to various audiences and help them understand the impact on the wider charity and the potential future options. You will also possess a solid understanding of financial management, compliance, and governance, along with the ability to lead and develop a team.

Key duties and responsibilities will include:
- Work alongside the CEO and Senior Management Team (SMT) to develop and implement the Charity's strategy and business plans including setting and managing budgets, targets and outputs and reviewing progress against these.
- Develop and implement the strategy and business plans for Finance & Compliance and Central Operations (IT, HR, Facilities and Programme Office)
- Manage annual and 2-year strategic business planning to produce effective budgets and forecasts for approval by the Board of Trustees
- Lead the Programme Office that leads on standardised project tools, processes and operating practices, providing oversight of cross-functional activities and resource planning across the Charity
- Manage the implementation and maintenance of strong strategic and operational financial planning processes and controls to safeguard the Charity's finances
- Lead the Finance & Compliance and Central Operations teams to deliver against plans and work efficiently and effectively
- Oversee the development, recording, storage and updating of the Charity's Standard Operating Practices
- Understand the effects and implications of relevant government and Charity Commission policies, legislation and directives and develop effective strategies to integrate them within the Charity
- Ensure appropriate levels of insurances are in place to fully capture the needs of the Charity and reduce financial risk appropriately
- Provide the SMT, CEO and Trustees with regular and timely financial and operational reporting and insights that clearly identify opportunities and gaps and inform key decisions, planning processes and policies
- Work with Budget Holders to develop their financial understanding and ownership of individual budgets
- Oversee the effective management of financial resources to achieve the best possible ROI, delivering against the charity's objects
- Work with the Trustees to ensure the charity's investments are in line with the investment policies and ethos of the charity, and effectively deployed and properly managed
- Oversee the day-to-day financial and operational management of the Charity, including budgeting, monitoring, risk management and GDPR
- Provide strategic oversight and guidance to internal and external HR resource
- Prepare salary forecasts to demonstrate affordability and sustainability of staffing structures required

About the team
The newly formed High Value Operations & Stewardship team will sit in the High Value Partnerships (HVP) sub-directorate which is part of Shelter’s Income Generation directorate. It’s an award-winning team that is responsible for all areas of high value income generation across philanthropy, trusts and foundations, statutory funders, corporate partners and legacies to power Shelter’s fight for home.
Shelter’s High Value Partnerships (HVP) team is an energetic group of around 50 talented professionals who collectively raise over £30 million each year through voluntary and statutory income. Role purpose:
The Procurement team is crucial to ensuring ShelterBox is equipped with the supply infrastructure we need to work, fundraise, budget, manage data and ultimately deliver vital aid. In addition to working on Indirect Items, the Procurement Team is a skills resource for the rest of the business, identifying and supporting with best practice in procurement and negotiations at all levels.
The Senior Buyer will join a busy and dynamic Procurement team of three individuals (two Senior Buyers and the Procurement Manager) and will quickly become integral to the day-to-day running of the Procurement function. It is expected that the individual will have substantial procurement experience.
The Senior Buyer will be responsible for a variety of Indirect spend and suppliers. Additionally, the Senior Buyer will support the Supply Chain team and the rest of the organisation as a subject matter expert on negotiation and procurement activities.
Who are we looking for?
ShelterBox is seeking a proactive individual with proven procurement experience to add capacity to the team. Attention to detail and diligence will be at the forefront of your skillset and you'll need to be comfortable with numbers, data and sensitively posing challenging questions to understand business requirements.
We are looking for someone with excellent communications skills and the ability to balance multiple tasks with competing deadlines. The individual should be confident with developing and maintaining relationships both internally with other departments and externally with suppliers and partners.
This role would suit someone currently in a Senior Procurement Role who is looking to expand their responsibilities and skillset. CIPs qualification is desirable. Charity experience is appreciated, but we welcome applicants with appropriate experience in any sector.
Job Description
Main role and responsibilities:
Ensure effective procurement of goods, services and works by conducting market research, performing supplier due diligence, implementing rigorous contracting procedures, managing contracts, negotiating favourable terms, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and preparing and maintaining documentation to guarantee best value, efficiency, and accountability to both donors and recipients.
Handling a variety of stakeholders and manage expectations as well as delivering on promised outcomes.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Management of a broad range of categories across the organisation, focussing predominantly on indirect, non-stock purchases.
- Work with Senior Management to identify procurement improvement priorities by analysing forecast spend, supply markets and specification options.
- Design, plan and lead the tender process for a variety of buying categories up to a contract value of £2m.
- Contribute to the specification-writing process, leading to formal technical, performance and supply specifications that can be used in tendering; it is expected that the individual will write the final versions of those specifications and hold them on file.
- Regularly review and improve procurement processes for allocated categories, adapting to organisational strategic change.
- Working with the team, assess and manage risk across all allocated categories.
- Write, negotiate and sign off contracts with suppliers to achieve the maximum value for ShelterBox.
- Develop and maintain appropriate supplier and contract management processes for all allocated categories.
- Report on cost savings and avoidance and added value.
- Upskill individuals across the organisation on commercial processes, offering strategic advice and ensuring compliance with internal policies.
- Manage procurement-led projects such as procedure implementation, and software introduction.
- Develop and deliver sustainability improvements within the procurement function according to the Environmental Policy.

support rapid emergency responses, possibly up to or around 12 weeks depending on

ROLE PURPOSE:
This Emergency Supply Chain Specialist will be a global core member of the Supply Chain Team, within the International Programmes Directorate and will report to the Senior Emergency Supply Chain Specialist. This key stakeholder role will work closely within the Emergency Response Team, which is responsible for assessing and responding to rapidly developing humanitarian crises.
This role will lead and contribute to the Supply Chain activities of ShelterBox's humanitarian responses at country level and remotely, depending on context and scale
In collaboration with the programme team, the wider supply chain stakeholder group and partner organisations, the Emergency Supply Chain Specialist will design and implement the supply chain strategy for ShelterBox emergency responses, following a sudden onset disaster.
This will include but is not limited to coordination of international, regional and local transportation, procuring stock and services, inventory management including release and distribution of stock, partner selection and due diligence, last mile logistics and overall ensuring end to end delivery.
Outside of rapid onset emergencies, the position requires the individual to support and lead on additional project supply chain activities, be active in preparedness and planning, provide tactical and strategic inputs in support of ShelterBox's growth ambition, and promote capacity strengthening and partner development.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
It is expected that the Emergency Supply Chain Specialist will have significant emergency response experience in humanitarian supply chain, at international, regional and country level. The Emergency Supply Chain Specialist is an enthusiastic team member and a creative problem-solver with a keen eye for detail. They see opportunities in challenges and have outstanding interpersonal skills. This role would be ideally suited to someone with HQ, humanitarian and country facing experience, but who is looking for emergency deployments balanced by providing remote support to responses. We therefore look forward to welcoming candidates who remain flexible and open to change.
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
- Lead and coordinate the design of the supply chain to assigned disasters including assessing and selecting supply options/routes, researching tax free importation procedures, developing last-mile logistics, operational services and local procurement, partner-led procurement and cash modalities to ensure high quality, timely responses.
- Responsible for tendering emergency international freight requests ensuring best value, service and accountability.
- Overseeing shipping of aid items by air, sea, road or rail and arranging the preparation and provision of relevant shipping documentation.
- Deploy to responses, depending on requirements and context and be able to act as team lead, in a supply chain capacity, to set and manage the timely delivery of aid items.
- Whilst you are unlikely to respond for more than 12 weeks at any one time, you may be required to deploy for up to 50% of your time in any calendar year, to support response delivery, preparedness, project planning, trainings and organisational meetings.
- Provide supply chain HQ backstop support to emergency responses as required, this may also include providing support to ongoing projects and programmes.
- Establish, coordinate and engage with supply chain partners such as freight forwarders, suppliers, peer and humanitarian stakeholders, relevant government departments and logistics coordination mechanisms at both global and country level.
- Be influential regarding aspects of supply chain in emergencies and across the wider team. Be solutions focused and be an active, evidenced based decision maker in support of other supply chain managers.
- Identify, mitigate and record supply chain risks in emergency responses, escalating when required to ensure full organisational accountability.
- Contribute to delivering Supply Chain emergency preparedness activities, when not actively responding, globally.
- Coordinate with the Global Supply Chain Manager and Senior Emergency Supply Chain Specialist to oversee emergency prepositioned inventory, ensuring access routes for stock in emergencies.
- Work with the Emergency and Supply Chain teams to streamline supply chain systems and processes, enabling timely responses whilst identifying areas for improvement and development.
- Active participation and collaboration in strengthening emergency supply chain capacity, including upskilling Emergency Team members and coaching and mentoring ShelterBox Response Team (SRT) volunteers.
- On a roster, provide an out-of-hours first point of contact for emergencies and deployed teams at designated times through-out the year and according to context.
- Contribute to driving forward changes to meet our sustainable supply chain targets such as significant reduction in carbon emissions.
- Give regular briefings internally, and occasionally externally on ShelterBox responses
- Maintain excellent information management using Business Central and organisational project management tools and platforms to ensure accurate record keeping and accountability.
- Promote and demonstrate humanitarian principles in all activities.
- Ensure adherence to ShelterBox procedures and policies including those relating to safeguarding, safety and security and all Codes of Conduct.

Prospectus is pleased to be collaborating with a UK charity founded by families who lost loved ones to gambling-related suicide to recruit for a new CEO to join them on a 12-month fixed term contract to start in March 2026. The charity operates as a fully remote working organisation however there will be some UK travel required as part of the role.
The Chief Operating Officer is the most senior staff role within the organisation, responsible for the day to day running of the charity and, in close coordination with the co-founders, delivering the organisation’s strategy. During this fixed term contract, the interim COO will be responsible for overseeing major change and growth as they move into a new funding system through the statutory gambling levy. In addition, the interim COO will ensure the ongoing delivery and quality of the charity’s services and activities, and will lead and support their expert and agile staff team.
The successful candidate will have significant experience in a senior leadership role within a small charity setting. You will have demonstrable experience leading, developing and nurturing teams including remote workers. Having worked successfully at a strategic level, you will be adept at delivering strategic and operational plans, with the ability to stay on top of all aspects of the organisation. In addition to the inward facing parts of the role you will also demonstrate the drive and experience to work externally, with a range of stakeholders and contractors. Reporting to the CEO, the Head of Casework is a member of the Senior Management Team and will report directly to the Board and the Complaints and Investigations Committee regarding the casework function. The Head of Casework will have responsibility for the casework function at the organisation overseeing formal investigations and compliance cases opened as a result of concerns identified about charitable fundraising in line with the standards in the Code of Fundraising Practice.
You will oversee the further development of systems and processes and ensure the team remain engaged, accountable and high preforming. The Head of Casework will also be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships and working closely with other Regulators and key stakeholders, as well as representing the organisation at external events.
To be considered for this position, you will be an experienced senior leader with substantial experience of managing and leading teams in a casework or similar operational environment. As a voluntary regulator, the organisation often takes complex decisions about whether cases fall within its remit and therefore you must be comfortable making decisions without legal precedent.

Role purpose:
The Procurement team is crucial to ensuring ShelterBox is equipped with the supply infrastructure we need to work, fundraise, budget, manage data and ultimately deliver vital aid. In addition to working on Indirect Items, the Procurement Team is a skills resource for the rest of the business, identifying and supporting with best practice in procurement and negotiations at all levels.
The Senior Buyer will join a busy and dynamic Procurement team of three individuals (two Senior Buyers and the Procurement Manager) and will quickly become integral to the day-to-day running of the Procurement function. Main role and responsibilities:
Ensure effective procurement of goods, services and works by conducting market research, performing supplier due diligence, implementing rigorous contracting procedures, managing contracts, negotiating favourable terms, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and preparing and maintaining documentation to guarantee best value, efficiency, and accountability to both donors and recipients.
Handling a variety of stakeholders and manage expectations as well as delivering on promised outcomes.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Management of a broad range of categories across the organisation, focussing predominantly on indirect, non-stock purchases.
- Work with Senior Management to identify procurement improvement priorities by analysing forecast spend, supply markets and specification options.
- Design, plan and lead the tender process for a variety of buying categories up to a contract value of £2m.
- Contribute to the specification-writing process, leading to formal technical, performance and supply specifications that can be used in tendering; it is expected that the individual will write the final versions of those specifications and hold them on file.
- Regularly review and improve procurement processes for allocated categories, adapting to organisational strategic change.
- Working with the team, assess and manage risk across all allocated categories.
- Write, negotiate and sign off contracts with suppliers to achieve the maximum value for ShelterBox.
- Develop and maintain appropriate supplier and contract management processes for all allocated categories.

To work closely with Community Service Manager to deliver a smooth, coherent and first class service to everyone we assist both during the working day, evenings and weekends. This post will require a good overall understanding of the needs of elderly people and their pets, ability to problem solve and experience of motivating and managing staff.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1 .VOLUNTEER CO-ORDINATOR LEVEL I & LEVEL II I)
To lead and motivate all Volunteer Co-coordinators Level I & Level II on a day-to-day basis to ensure they are properly trained and competent to deliver the appropriate level and quality of service to all petitioners when handling any request for help. II) Once identified, to refer any difficult and problematic cases to the CEO or the Community Service Manager for prompt action and feedback. III) To work closely with the Community Service manager and volunteer coordinators Level II to ensure delivery of our on-call emergency service both midweek and weekends and deputise for the Community Service Manager in her absence and time off.
IV) In collaboration with the Community Service Manager, to appropriately schedule the out of hours rota to ensure cover at all times for our emergency service.
V) To be contactable out of hours, if needed over the evenings and weekends.
VI) To ensure a Monday morning debrief with the Community Service Manager and weekend coordinator, to log, discuss and resolve any issues that have arisen.
VII) To manage and develop a mentoring scheme for volunteer coordinators Level I to enable them, in time, to progress to a Level II role.
VIII) To mentor all volunteer coordinators Level II to ensure they are reaching their targets and sustaining an excellent level of service.
2.THE SUPPORT TEAM
I) To lead and motivate a team of individuals to ensure an outstanding level of support is provided throughout all communications across the entire support team.
II) To support and mentor the Community Support Manager to help facilitate the delivery of a smooth, coherent and first class service to everyone we help.
III) To ensure any problems with volunteers are quickly identified, addressed and referred if needed for extra assistance.
3.OTHER
I) To ensure all relevant correspondence and communications across the Community Service Department are answered promptly and sympathetically.
II) To produce weekly reports for the Chief Executive in collaboration with the Community Service Manager, to detail work of the team that is, especially happy, unhappy, unusual, interesting, serendipitous etc.

This is a varied and vital role, central to ensuring the smooth running of the charity’s office and operations.
