The New Economics Foundation, one of the UK’s leading progressive think tanks, is looking for an experienced strategic leader to help oversee its finance, operations and governance.

Our current Director of Finance and Operations, who leaves us in mid-2024, has worked hard to stabilise our finances, improve our systems, and promote an inclusive and productive workplace. We have a solid base to build from – whether it’s the long lease on our premises on Albert Embankment or several long-term programmes of work – and are looking for a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to help us improve our business model, support excellent financial and operational support, and deliver excellent project management and resourcing.

NEF offers generous terms and conditions, including a salary in the range of £78-87k per annum for a 32-hour working week that can be worked flexibly. Most colleagues work two days a week (usually Tuesdays and Wednesdays) in our office in central London, but that can be adjusted up or down depending on preferences. RSPB Cymru’s vision is for sustainable land management, which is good for people, climate and nature. We want to see farming, forestry and other land management across Wales that:

To deliver our vision we need to work with others to change how land is managed. This includes ensuring farmers, foresters and other land managers have the right balance of support (financial and other) to enable them to deliver for nature in addition to providing food, other commodities and environmental goods and services. It’s also vital we engage wider society to support these changes and make nature/environmentally friendly choices in the way they eat and live.

We are looking for a Policy Officer to join our Wales Land and Sea Policy and Advocacy Team to develop and advocate RSPB Cymru policy positions and proposals on sustainable farming and land management, including the effective use of nature-based solutions. You will work with a range of stakeholders and advocates, particularly farmers, foresters, other land managers, and their representatives, environmental NGOs, statutory bodies and businesses to build, shape and advocate to the Welsh Government and the Senedd, to change the way we manage land to help save nature in Wales.

Key deliverables include:

• Developing policy positions in relation to:
  • Future agriculture and sustainable land management in Wales, including influencing the design and delivery of Wales’ new Sustainable Farming Scheme.
  • Land use/management’s response to climate change including peatland restoration and the use of nature-based solutions.
  • Fresh water, in particular the impact of land use/management on water quality.
• Working with colleagues across the RSPB, and where appropriate, with other NGOs, to ensure key messages and policy positions are aligned.
• Working closely with sustainable farming and land management advocates, such as the Nature Friendly Farming Network, to develop a strong movement for change
• Working closely with staff delivering ‘on the ground’ activities, such as project and reserves teams, and farm advisors, to help showcase best practice and develop “learning” for future policy and advocacy.
• Working closely with staff delivering communications and public engagement to build public and political support for our land use and management policy priorities.
• Increasing public awareness about the connection between land use/management, farming, food and the dual nature and climate emergency.

We are looking for a professional, persuasive and engaging individual with an excellent understanding of current agricultural and land use policy as tools to ensure outcomes for nature, and credibility within relevant stakeholder communities. They should have the skills and personality to be able to bring together dynamic coalitions of interested stakeholders to build, shape and advocate for new policies to secure sustainable land management that is good for people and good for nature.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• Experience of working in a policy or advocacy role to influence the development of government policy.
• Experience of advocating policy effectively to external audiences (including government, relevant businesses, NGOs) to further specific policy and advocacy objectives.
• Knowledge of biodiversity and climate policy and policy drivers at international, EU, UK and Wales level

About this role

This role is a pivotal one in Central England Law Centre as we strive to deliver excellent service to our wide range of clients from the local community in Birmingham.

The receptionist/administrator is the first point of contact for all clients whether they visit in person, send an email or contact us by phone.  The person will also be responsible for providing administrative support to our caseworkers whilst overseeing all aspects of the management of the office from coordinating IT equipment, ordering office supplies and ensuring all building maintenance is up-to-date.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director to oversee the efficient and effective functioning of our organisation's key operational areas, including Operations, People management, Finance, Security and Compliance. 5. Security and Risk Management: Ensure security protocols are adhered to and risk management strategies are in place to safeguard staff, assets, and programme operations. Ensure that RedR’s Global Safety and Security Policy meets international standards, dealing with security concerns and incidents that arise and raising these as necessary. 
6. Resource Utilisation: Analyse resource requirements and utilisation across programmes, providing insights and recommendations; collaborate with programmes to develop strategies for optimising resource allocation and utilisation. Establish mechanisms for ongoing monitoring of resource allocation and utilisation across programmes. 
7. Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and donor requirements; maintain and periodically update RedR UK organisations policies and associated processes, ensuring RedR UK is compliant with relevant legislation in its countries of operation. About the role

As our Senior Finance & Operations Officer, you will be at the heart of our organisation’s success. Working closely with the Director, Finance and Operations, you will help to manage financial processes, streamline operations, and ensure both our UK and EU teams are properly resourced to drive our mission forward. You will interact daily with a broad range of stakeholders in the UK and the EU including senior level staff, external consultants and suppliers in the while also working closely with Finance, HR & IT colleagues in the US.

Key responsibilities

Financial Management (30%)

• Support on day-to-day financial activities including financial reporting, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Develop and implement best practices to optimise operational efficiency and effectiveness.
• Collaborate with the team to develop and monitor project budgets.
• Support decision-making through insightful financial analysis.

Operational Support (40%)

• Be the first point of contact for all enquiries from the campaigns and fundraising teams in the UK and EU.

Contracts Lifecycle Management (30%)

• Oversee the lifecycle of all supplier contracts: creation, submission and signing. (Legal contract knowledge is not required.)

 About you

You will be a dynamic individual with a can-do attitude who has a proven track record of juggling competing priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.  The role is varied and has a significant financial element so strong numeracy skills, a solid knowledge of financial management principles paired with good communications skills are important. Community Fundraising Manager

The Mencap Community and Events Team has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, motivated and passionate fundraiser,  dedicated to raising as much funds as possible to help make the UK the best place to live for people with a learning disability to join our team as Senior Community Fundraising Manager covering England and Wales.

Covering the England and Wales the Community Fundraising Manager will be responsible for managing various income streams across the Community portfolio working closely with the wider team.

Within this role, you will achieve agreed fundraising targets through effective management, support and cultivation of both existing and new regional supporters including: individuals, groups, associations, local corporates and schools whilst maximising the current portfolio of Mencap owned products. You will research, identify and develop new community fundraising opportunities, areas of potential support and build a robust pipeline for restricted grants and corporate partners.

The role is home based. There will be travel around the areas that the role covers.

This position is a permanent, full-time role to work 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday. The nature of community fundraising is that there will be evening and weekend work, for which time off in lieu will be given.

Key skills and requirements (essential):

· The ability to develop, implement and monitor strategic plans, present budgets and interpret financial information

· The ability to research, assess and initiate new opportunities within the context of an overall plan

· Able to recruit, develop and train, motivate and manage individuals and teams of Volunteers to give their very best

· Able to use interpersonal skills in order to engage effectively with others, understand what motivates them and respond appropriately

· Written communication skills and a high level of numeracy to be able to produce business plans, monthly reviews, press releases, letters, presentations and other similar documents

Job Summary

The Haringey Community Collaborative Manager is responsible for leading the development of the VCS Capacity Building strategy and the effective co-ordination of the Community Collaborative team which includes a Communications and Engagement Officer, a Workplace Development Manager, and a Capacity Building Manager.

We envisage the Haringey Community Collaborative Manager performing at either a primarily operational level or, for a more experienced candidate, at both operational and strategic levels. The salary range reflects this, with the upper end of the salary range reserved for candidates who can demonstrate an ability to deliver at both the operational and strategic levels.

Operationally, the postholder will have specific management responsibility for co-developing priorities for local VCS funding and capacity building, as well as the Volunteer Centre and wider VCS community of practice. The post holder has lead responsibility for developing the Annual Work Programme, performance management and reporting against the targets and milestones in the Contract.

Strategically, the role would include a wider contribution to the strategic management and development of Public Voice, supporting the CEO as required. This would include leading the shaping and delivery of a Capacity Building strategy; representing the VCS Alliance at stakeholder meetings and influencing key stakeholders to better support Haringey’s VCS; as well as growing the reach and impact of the Capacity Building service by engaging new funders and partners.

Principle Tasks and Key Responsibilities:

• Working closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, and the team, you will lead on developing and managing creative art programmes, projects, activities, and events.

• Maintain and develop relationships among key partner organisations,local businesses, creatives, and host steering group meetings to develop new ideas and plans to progress and enhance the organisation, building communication and providing regular feedback. 

• Work with the CEO to develop annual organisational and project budgets, and manage ongoing programme budgets to ensure they are delivered as agreed within set budgets and timescales. 

• Research, implement and monitor programme and project plans, liaising with collaborators, partners, the community and artists. 

• Produce reports to ensure that relevant stakeholders are fully and consistently informed and updated about the progress of creative projects. 

• Determine and monitor the human and physical resources needed for the programmes/projects and ensure that they are available at the appropriate time. 

• Ensure effective marketing and publicity for programmes and projects. 

• Day to day project and personnel management, including staff and artists’ contracts, and project risk assessments. 

• Attend events, projects, and meetings on behalf of Community Arts by ZK, where appropriate. 

• Prepare and submit prompt reports, planning documents and information required by funders/clients with regards to service level agreements and any other contractual/grant funded obligations. 

• Ensure appropriate systems are in place for monitoring information required by funders and to ensure that all contracted staff are fully briefed as to their responsibilities in respect of monitoring information. 

• Maintain and update internal databases in order that data integrity is maintained and information is consistent across the data platforms. 

• Monitor and assess available funding opportunities, and work alongside the CEOto submit funding applications and tender submissions. 

• Develop new partnerships across Lancashire and Pendle to maximise existing and potential funding/tender opportunities

• General Responsibilities: 

• Ensure a high standard of professional conduct in dealing with other services and members of the public. 

• Contribute to the update of Community Arts by ZK policies and procedures in line with best practice. 

• Undertake training considered necessary to fulfil your role and responsibilities.

• Participate in a process of continuous evaluation of the organisation’s effectiveness in fulfilling its aims and objectives.
