Job Purpose

We are looking for a versatile and enthusiastic public-facing team member to support the development, launch and operation of ANT’s new commercial ventures - including plans to launch ecotourism, commercial rental offerings at Lower Chew Forest and carry out scoping of green burials - to start generating commercial income which can go back into supporting the charity’s ongoing work. 

This is a dynamic role that will involve supporting the successful launch and operation of new ventures through focusing on optimising and improving the experience of paying visitors to the site, taking into account all aspects of their journey with us - from hearing about us and booking to their actual visit, and onto aftercare and follow-ups to encourage repeat visits. As part of this, the role will also support the development of new branding and marketing materials and ‘added value’ extras that can enhance the visitor experience and generate additional revenue.

You will be joining a small but mighty team working hard to make exciting new ideas a reality and a success.

Main responsibilities

• Leading on ensuring excellent visitor experience, including facilitating bookings; fielding customer service needs, enquiries & issues (digital, on the phone and in person); identifying and solving or escalating issues; and tailoring our digital marketing and on-site offerings to ensure guest satisfaction

• Supporting with the development of new branding and marketing materials for commercial ventures as required, focusing initially on our new ecotourism offering at Lower Chew Forest

• Supporting the operational setup and smooth running of ecotourism at Lower Chew Forest, for example through researching possible operational approaches, systems and tools, making recommendations and supporting their implementation and smooth running

• Researching, proposing and implementing ancillary offerings for guests (such as experiences, events and memorial items) which both add value to their experience and generate additional revenue for the charity, and forming the partnerships to deliver them - including working alongside our fundraising team

• Collecting, collating and analysing visitor data - such as reviews, feedback, spend and engagement with our various offerings - and reporting on these with recommendations to management and trustees 

• Supporting a small but busy and growing Business Development team flexibly as needs change - for example by supporting the development of new ventures such as biochar production, or the scoping of emerging commercial opportunities across the Lower Chew Valley and beyond 

• Work with the wider Avon Needs Trees team to help build a resilient, multi-site charity with a flourishing commercial arm, undertaking other work necessary to pursue our aims

• As with all Avon Needs Trees roles, contributing to grant writing and fundraising activities

Working relationships and expectations

• You will be part of the Commercial Team reporting to the Head of Business Development

• Hybrid working between home, our office (currently on Lower Castle Street, Bristol) and our sites in the Lower Chew Valley (near Hustrete), with the expectation of being present in our office or on site more than half the days on the typical week

• Occasional evening and weekend working will be required but this is not a substantial feature of your role

Person Specification

Essential

• Passion and commitment to addressing the climate and nature emergencies in general (and woodland creation in particular)
• Ambitious and positive about exploring new ventures, generating new ideas and developing new commercial offerings that offer both an excellent customer experience and provide income to support the charity’s wider work
• Strong communication skills with a warm public-facing approach, and experience working directly with the public in a customer service setting
• Excellent people and conflict management skills
• Good project management skills and experience working with external partners, contractors, agencies and/or operational staff -  in a public-facing tourism or other setting
• Ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary role with a range of responsibilities as part of a small, dynamic team

Desirable

• Experience in the development, setup or operational management of commercial activities - in particular in the tourism or ecotourism sectors
• Experience creating, deploying and managing digital marketing - in particular within the tourism or ecotourism sectors
• Experience of operational management, including HR, health & safety, and safeguarding - ideally in a public/outdoor environment
• Strong working knowledge and experience of data management and analysis, IT administration and cyber security

• Oversee the day‑to‑day delivery of outreach, support, and accommodation services, fostering a culture of accountability, quality, and excellence.
• Drive performance and impact through robust KPI reporting, using accurate data and high‑quality analysis to identify gaps, implement action plans, and support service improvement.
• Build and maintain strong partnerships, working collaboratively with internal teams and key external stakeholders, including local authorities, probation services, and commissioners.
• Participate in the senior management on‑call rota, providing leadership oversight and back‑up support to local on‑call teams when required.

NSW is initially focusing on two of the South West’s most vital natural systems: rivers and wetlands, and coastal and marine habitats. By convening partners, sharing expertise, and championing investible nature recovery opportunities, NSW is positioning the South West as a national leader in nature-based solutions and unlocking new pathways for public and private investment.

Key areas of work will include:

• Responsibility for all aspects of project coordination and delivery of the Nature South West Project Plan, activities and outputs.
• Manage the project budget ensuring that necessary changes are escalated and approved.
• Engaging with stakeholders
• Identify, record, manage and communicate risks and issues, putting in place appropriate contingency actions where required.
• Managing the procurement and contractor tendering process for evaluation, website design/delivery and green finance specialist.
• Managing and overseeing consultants & contractors.

What we need from you:

We’re seeking a dynamic and adaptable individual who can lead a complex programme with confidence and clarity.

Essential skills and experience:

• Energy, enthusiasm, and adaptability to deliver a multi-faceted programme on time and on budget
• Experience in project management, event coordination, and/or communications
• Proven ability to work independently and take initiative
• Experience delivering large-scale, complex projects or programmes
• Knowledge of green finance, particularly in securing blended finance for large-scale environmental projects with co-benefits
• Experience with procurement, tendering, and contractor management
• Understanding of nature recovery priorities in policy and legislation, and how they apply in the South West
• Ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders to deliver complex projects; knowledge of South West partners is desirable
• Experience writing business cases or funding bids, and overseeing project delivery and reporting
• Excellent communication skills and a well-organised approach to work

• This is a 24-month Full-Time role for 37.5 hours per week which is funded through the National Lottery Heritage Fund as part of the Nature South West programme.

We’re looking for a proactive Production Manager to drive the planning, coordination and delivery of digital, creative and content projects that support our engagement goals.

This is a key delivery role within our Digital delivery and planning team as part of the Engagement department. You will help to traffic and coordinate a wide range of small‑to‑medium projects, ensuring work is well‑planned, on track and clearly communicated.

What you will do

You’ll be responsible for:

• Reviewing incoming briefs and leading an effective triage process to ensure work is prioritised, scoped and resourced appropriately

• Account management and monitoring of progress, ensuring clear communication with stakeholders at every stage

About the Service

We work under the supervision of the NHS Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT) across Central Bedfordshire, Luton and Bedford, employed and managed by Mind BLMK, who receive funding for this transformational offer. We are privileged to be able to work holistically with people who are under the CMHT, struggling with a range of mental health issues.

Our service users are people with a range of mild/moderate/severe mental health diagnosis of anxiety, depression, paranoid schizophrenia, bipolar, EUPD, BPD, substance misuse including alcohol and people with suicide ideation. Often people present with high risks and once we take them onto our caseload we support them in managing their symptoms to reduce risk and to enable them to access wellbeing tools and services, leading to improved mental wellbeing and a better quality of life.

About the Role

Community Connectors work as part of an integrated, blended mental health offer to support people, for approximately a 6 - 12 week duration, with emotional, social and practical needs to access a range of local, non-medical and non-clinical services, to improve confidence, social inclusion and independence.

This role will involve working as part of a multi-disciplinary team with statutory, third sector and NHS colleagues to support clients who are suffering from moderate to severe mental health difficulties. You will need to have experience working with those suffering with mental health illness as well as being able to demonstrate in depth knowledge of the services, support networks and local resources that may assist in improved outcomes for those dealing with complex and enduring mental health issues.

The ability to be adaptable, work independently and the resilience to work in some challenging environments are key attributes for this role.

A typical day in the life as a Community Connector:

• 9.15 – 11.30: Attend MDT – discuss a number of patients and treatment. This is a weekly meeting at each CMHT for reviews of those under the CMHT and includes people who are currently on the mental health wards and individuals under a section.
  Discuss any high risk cases and next steps.
  Discuss those who are ready for discharge.
• 11.30 – 12:15: Add notes to database - that have been taken during the meeting – reporting on the discussion and outcome for patients (this includes identifying next steps for professionals and tasks which the admin team need to follow up on).
• 12.15 – 13.15: First Initial assessment with a new service user – introductions and getting to know them.
  Discuss goals and what recovery means to them.
  Carry out a dialog+ (diagnostic tool).
  Clarify areas for signposting and discuss wellbeing practical support.
• 13.15 – 13.45: Lunch break
• 3.45 – 14.30: Signposting for service user
  Update data base with notes from the initial assessment and upload any documents sent to services for the new service user.
• 14.30 – 15.30: Meeting with service user in local cafe. Review of goals and progress. Review any signposted services – has the service user attended? How are they feeling? What has worked/not worked and what could be improved? Set goals to be worked towards by next session – these could be simple practice of self-affirmation/ attending a yoga class/meditation or continuing work with P2R etc. OR more practical self-care – showering/ going for a walk etc.
• 15.30 – 17.00: Catch up on admin tasks; respond to new referrals; call service users to book in appointments or to offer any well-being check-ins.

• Act as main liaison between the charity and the Financial Service Provider, ensuring that both the charity and contractor adhere to the organisation's financial procedures 

Personal Specification 

Strategic Leadership & Drive 

• Proven senior leadership experience at director level or equivalent in the charity, public, or social sector, including leading teams and engaging boards. 

Organisational governance 

• Financial acumen; comfortable owning budgets, managing forecasts, approving payments and communicating financial health clearly to the board. 

• Sound knowledge of charity governance, HR, GDPR, risk management, and regulatory compliance. 

• Excellent organisational & project management skills 

Vision, stakeholder engagement and influence 

• Experience cultivating strategic partnerships with schools, funders, and external stakeholders. 

• A track record of building funder relationships and driving income generation, with confidence overseeing fundraising strategy and pipelines. 

• Advanced communication skills, someone who can represent the organisation externally with credibility and warmth. 

Change Management & Adaptability 

• Experience in an interim/ short term role 

• Strong people management skills, with a warm and accountable approach to developing and supporting others. 

Desirable:  

• Experience working directly with school and corporate partnerships 

• Experience using Salesforce.  

• Experience working with trustees

Waste and Recycling Engagement Officer
Salary: £26,606 - £28,951 per annum
Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week
Contract: Fixed Term, 2 years - with scope for extension
Location: Waste and Recycling Visitor & Education Centre (WRVEC), Wrekenton, Gateshead NE9 – covering South Tyneside, Sunderland and Gateshead.

About the role

As Waste and Recycling Officer, you’ll inspire communities across South Tyneside, Sunderland and Gateshead to waste less and recycle more. Based at the Waste and Recycling Visitor and Education Centre, you’ll design and deliver engaging education programmes, community outreach and digital learning that drive positive behaviour change. Working closely with local authorities and partners, this is a hands‑on role where your work will make a visible difference to places and people every day.

Working as part of Groundwork’s Local Projects Team, you’ll be based at the unique Waste and Recycling Visitor & Education Centre (WRVEC), run by SUEZ on behalf of local authorities and coordinated by Groundwork. From here, you’ll design and deliver engaging education activities for schools, community groups, residents and businesses, both at the centre and out in the community.

You’ll work closely with Gateshead, Sunderland and South Tyneside Councils and a wide range of partners to raise awareness of waste and recycling issues, encourage positive behaviour change, and expand the reach of the education centre through creative marketing, outreach and digital learning.

This is a varied, hands‑on role combining education delivery, community engagement, partnership working and project development. This role ideal for someone who enjoys working with people and wants to make a real environmental impact.

Key responsibilities

• Delivering waste and recycling education sessions in person and online
• Community outreach and partnership working
• Creating promotional content (social media, newsletters, events)
• Monitoring, evaluating and reporting on impact
• Supporting project delivery, budgets and action plans

What we’re looking for

• Educated to A‑level / NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent)
• Experience delivering presentations or community education
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Confidence using IT and social media
• Passion for environmental awareness and community engagement
• Full driving licence and access to a vehicle
• Willingness to work flexibly, including occasional evenings/weekends
