Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate deep practical understanding of and commitment to our partnership model in locally led development. They’ll have experience of different aspects of charity work with an emphasis on income generation, finance and tracking performance against KPIs. They’ll need to work collaboratively with trustees, the staff team and key stakeholders in the Methodist Church and the YMCA movement.
As our next CEO, they’ll be joining a team of 22 colleagues in the UK and 6 Country Representatives in Ethiopia, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Malawi, and together, work towards embedding a culture that is people-centred, mutually accountable, open, inclusive and caring in everything we do.

To be successful in the role, successful candidate will need:
- Thorough practical understanding and experience of working within the context of locally led partnership model in international development.
- Understanding of what decolonisation of aid looks like in practice.
- Passion for and interest in the work of our partners and in all you do, be led by their needs and the needs of the communities they serve.
- Practical understanding of and demonstrating our organisational values: Love, Collaboration and Integrity.
- Experience in a senior leadership role within a third sector organisation or proven transferrable experience from other sectors.

- Due to the history of both organisations and the relationships with key stakeholders and partners, it would be desirable for the CEO to be an active Christian; however it is not an essential requirement.

Location: This role is contractually based in Central London; however, we currently operate a hybrid working model with regular whole team face to face meetings once a month. Job Purpose

You will be integral to connecting our Support Workers to the young people seeking help. You will keep them up to date of all communication and help them to respond to young people trying to access services, often reaching out for the first time. You will also help to make sure our amazing Drop in volunteers are supported and tasked with jobs for the day. Administrative duties will include updating databases, running data reports for the service managers and ensuring the team have all the necessary documents to provide an efficient service. The successful role holder will proactively assist sports clubs in developing sports participation opportunities and performance pathways for identified target groups through development planning.
This a full time and permanent role. This role is also a hybrid working role with a minimum of 40% office-based, but at certain times of the year we will need the post holder on site much more than that.

We are looking to appoint a Chief Executive Officer to lead our team of dedicated professionals in an ambitious strategy to grow and develop our services across the UK. Main objectives of the role are to:
- help formulate and execute the agreed strategic objectives of the charity
- provide effective operational management of the charity
- maintain the financial viability and probity of the charity

- represent Potential Plus UK to key stakeholders
- attend meetings of the Board of Trustees and provide both written and oral reports.
Main responsibilities for all employees
- To keep up to date with statutory and best practice in safeguarding and child protection procedures, ensuring that all members of the charity’s community are aware of these, understand their roles and are confident to take action as needed.
- To liaise effectively with colleagues, parents, schools, colleges and young people to secure excellent outcomes and well-being for young people with high learning potential.
- To support and implement the strategic aims and all aspects of policies and procedures.
- To develop best practice in the provision for all high potential learners, including the disadvantaged and disengaged, those with dual or multiple exceptionalities, and English as an additional language, and children from minority groups.
- To model high standards of professional behaviours and attitudes at all times.
- To identify the professional learning needed to achieve excellent outcomes, and to monitor the impact to ensure you excel in the role.
Main responsibilities for the CEO
Strategy
- To collect and maintain information and evidence that contributes to the strategic planning of the charity.
- To work with the Board of Trustees (and other staff members and advisers as appropriate) to develop the strategic objectives and the strategic plan for the charity.
- To implement and periodically review the business plan and ensure all operational activities support the strategic objectives.
Management and Administration
- To motivate and develop the team of professional staff.
- To provide a structure of line management and support for all staff.
- To recruit and terminate staff in line with the charity’s policies and values.
- To oversee the work of contracted companies and individuals with the support of the Deputy CEO.
- To provide and promote structures for volunteers to support high learning potential.
Financial Management
- To manage the charity’s financial resources effectively, in line with the agreed annual budget.
- To maintain the charity’s compliance with financial bodies such as HMRC.
- To implement a robust income-generation strategy as agreed with the Board of Trustees
- To oversee the fundraising activities being implemented for the charity.
- To actively promote and ensure financial support for disadvantaged families to enable access to the charity’s services.
Quality of Services and Products
- To implement and oversee the development of high-quality services and products that are appropriate for the charity’s beneficiaries.
- To promote best practice and consistency of high quality in the delivery of all services and products.
- To ensure the charity keeps up-to-date with developments in education and wellbeing policy and practice and applies them to its own understanding and work.
Marketing and Advocacy
- To implement a coordinated marketing and social media strategy to increase awareness of high learning potential and the educational and wellbeing needs of the charity’s beneficiaries.
- To develop and promote understanding of high learning potential with a strong evidence base.
- To work collaboratively with other stakeholders to advocate for the rights and needs of young people with high learning potential.
- To be the prime contact with the media and be an advocate for the charity.
Governance
- To be accountable for the efficient, operational running of the charity.
- To ensure the charity’s compliance with legal requirements such as Companies House returns, GDPR, etc.
- To understand and adhere to the charity’s governance documents.
- To provide written and oral reports to the Board of Trustees at regular meetings.
- To respond to requests for information by the Board of Trustees in a timely fashion
- To support Trustees to maintain and regularly review the policies of the charity and to create and implement the accompanying operational procedures.
Monitoring and Evaluation
- To monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the charity through qualitative and quantitative key performance indicators.
- To be responsible for the appraisal of staff performance and identification of any needs for professional learning and development.
Safeguarding
- To act as Senior Designated Safeguarding Lead for the charity.
- To coordinate with the Trustee with Responsibility for Safeguarding and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads as appropriate to ensure best practice in safeguarding throughout the organisation.
- To regularly interact with children and young people in support of the charity's strategic objectives
Any Other Duties
- To lead by example and be part of a dedicated team to implement the strategic objectives of the charity.
- To carry out any other reasonable duties as identified as part of the job.

The Head of Programme Funding will manage and provide strong leadership to a dynamic team of six who support the Action Against Hunger Network to position for, access and deliver programmes with UK institutional funding, in line with the International Strategic Plan 3 (2021-5). Key donors include FCDO, DEC, Start Fund, Power of Nutrition and ELRHA.
The post holder will strengthen and expand the programme funding portfolio through the implementation of our 5-year Programme Funding Strategy and UK Government Engagement Strategy, ensuring our global Network secure and manage UK Aid and other UK funding, engaging with the UK Government and wider sector. Working closely with key stakeholders across Action Against Hunger UK, the post holder will bring a strategic and tactical approach to engagement and positioning which combines our UK and Global priorities to those of our important funding stakeholders – not least the UK Government at National, regional and local levels. The post holder will also seek to diversify our programme funding portfolio through expanding commercial contracts, climate change programming and the identification and support of funding opportunities for Nutrition, MEAL, Advocacy and UK Programme teams.
The post holder will engage positively and effectively with the Action Against Hunger Network, representing the UK at the International Donor Relations Unit (IDRU) within the Network. They will act as a key focal point for both programmatic insight from the Network as well as insight from the donor community and being able to capitalise on this important role. Within Action Against Hunger UK, they will work supportively and complementarily with our Nutrition and MEAL expertise providers as well as our Advocacy team and Fundraising department. About the team
In Norfolk we have provided housing advice for over 25 years, with offices in Norwich and Kings Lynn as well as Court Desks in Norwich, Kings Lynn and Great Yarmouth County Courts. We work within communities to understand and respond to the housing issues they have and work in partnership to deliver our priorities: supporting people with additional needs, combatting discrimination and disrepair in the private rented sector and fair access to and delivery of social housing throughout Norfolk.

You will be the first point of contact for in-person and telephone callers to the service which involves taking client details, providing information and working with advisers to direct enquiries to the right people. You will provide administrative support functions and have responsibility for designing and developing office systems and processes, data input, extraction and analysis and finance administration. Helping the front line team with case administration, assisting the Hub management with ad-hoc projects and making sure that our office equipment is properly maintained – these are all aspects of this interesting, varied and vital role.
