Community Fundraising Officer – Temporary Position from May 24 for 6 months (£24-25k)

Remote working with regular travel to the West Midlands and London as required

We’re building our new fundraising team and this temporary role will play an important part in accelerating our ambitious plans to increase annual income during 2024/25.

You will become the fourth member of the Fundraising Team (there are 3 full time staff) and will help to support the fundraising team.

Sepsis is the immune system’s overreaction to an infection or injury. There are over 245,000 cases each year in the UK with approximately 48,000 deaths. UKST aims to reduce preventable deaths from this ‘killer’ condition. We achieve this by:

· Raising awareness

· Supporting those affected by sepsis

· Educating health professionals

· Lobbying political organisations for better sepsis and severe infection care

Key Responsibilities

1. Deliver supporter journeys i.e. fundraising resources and stewardship communications to maximise supporter numbers, retention and engagement.

2. Use UKST’s CRM system (Raiser’s Edge) to accurately capture fundraiser information and key data contributing to the improved development and implementation of fundraising processes.

3. Communicate proactively and effectively with team members to pass on all relevant information, deliver excellent supporter care and to maximise fundraising opportunities. 

4. Provide excellent customer service members of the public, either via phone, mail and in person, help to develop Fundraising activity whilst also offering our Support Services where necessary.

5. Represent the charity as and when required in schools, local businesses, and community groups, including speaking at events if – not essential

6. Keep up to date with best practice in fundraising and ensure compliance with the latest legislation and guidelines.

7. Assist in prioritising & managing enquiries about our Community Fundraising Programme via our dedicated inboxes.

8. Work collaboratively with the fundraising team and our Communications and Marketing Team to ensure maximum press and social media coverage is obtained for UKST’s community fundraising activities.

Day to day activities will include:

1. Managing an inbox and replying to enquiries in a timely and professional manner

1. Problem solving for fundraisers – finding the optimum way they can achieve their goals

2. Support the Event Team Lead with sending out merchandise

2. Download Giving reports and send thank yous to donors and fundraisers

3. Record Supporter details on CRM

4. Cover for holiday periods and manage an inbox in their absence

To be successful in this role you will have:

1. Experience of working in fundraising in a UK registered charity

2. Experience of donor relationship management using a fundraising CRM.

3. An understanding of community fundraising.

4. A proven track record of working effectively in a team.

5. Excellent communication, presentation and organisational skills.

6. The ability to prioritise diverse workloads and meet shifting demands.

7. Flexibility to work evening and weekends as necessary and travel when required.

Development / Fundraising Assistant
Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week, with flexibility to increase to 37 hours per week. (Some evening and weekend work required in line with fundraising events).
Salary: £24,031 - £25,863 per annum FTE (£19,484.59 - £20,970 pro rata for 30 hours per week) dependant on skills, experience and knowledge

Base: Osney Mead, Oxford, Frequent travel within Oxfordshire and Berkshire required.

What will you do?

This role is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to learn and grow within the Fundraising sector.

This is an integral part of the development team, providing essential support across various fundraising initiatives and providing excellent supporter stewardship (nurturing our supporters/fundraisers on their journey with us). • Help support content for communications/marketing.
• Help support the team identify fundraising opportunities.

Fundraising Development Manager

We are seeking a knowledgeable individual to oversee the Fundraising Development Manager position for a fixed-term, covering maternity leave. The successful applicant will have some professional experience of fundraising and/or education development, together with experience of developing good working relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

Main purpose of the role

Reporting to the Fundraising Manager, this post will lead on the development and delivery of Thrive’s community and public fundraising whilst working collaboratively with the rest of fundraising team to maximise and develop opportunities over various income streams.

 The post holder will work with our local centres to develop fundraising opportunities and offerings that are appealing to the local community.

World Child Cancer is seeking an experienced corporate and philanthropy fundraiser to join our growing team and play a vital role in improving the chances of survival and quality of life of children with cancer in under-resourced countries.

About World Child Cancer

Over 400,000 children worldwide develop cancer each year. Childhood cancer is most often curable, with over 80% survival rate in high income countries. However, in many low-and-middle-income countries survival rates are often 25% or lower.

World Child Cancer’s goal is to help redress that inequity and improve the chances of children with cancer to survive and thrive in under-resourced countries. We currently work with local hospitals in 12 countries in Africa, Asia and Mexico to enable children with cancer to have equal access to the best possible treatment and care through awareness raising on signs of childhood cancer, providing financial, logistical and emotional support to address barriers to access treatment, training of healthcare workers and advocacy.

Overview of the role

This newly created Senior Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager role will play a key part in raising income from companies and philanthropists to help achieve World Child Cancer’s mission.

You will be passionate about enabling children with cancer to have equitable access to quality treatment wherever they are born. We are looking for someone experienced in corporate and philanthropy fundraising, who is proactive, confident in engaging with high value funders, able to develop strong internal and external relationships, has strong verbal and written communication skills, a collaborative way of working and experience in developing new business.

You will join a small but ambitious and high performing team that contributes significantly to World Child Cancer’s annual income of c. £2m.

Responsibilities include:

Leadership, Strategy and Governance

• To be an active member of the Made in Hackney Senior Leadership Team, working together to galvanise the organisation behind our strategic plan.

• To develop and execute an annual fundraising strategy: building a sustainable portfolio consisting of grants and donations from individuals, corporates, trusts and foundations, to ensure long-term sustainable funding of activities.
• To research and prospect future funders.
• To maintain precise and up-to-date records on current and potential supporters and prospects.
• To create engaging fundraising communication tools.
• To establish partnerships for joint programmes and funding bids where beneficial.

Donor stewardship & reporting

• To retain current donors and maximise fundraising opportunities, including delivering a programme of appropriate stewardship opportunities with the core team.
• To work with the team to co-design programmes and their evaluation requirements to ensure the organisation meets the grant funders' requirements. 
• To complete reporting to grant funders, including developing report templates, creating reports, case studies, and other administrative requirements. 

Communications

• To input into MIH’S communications strategy and the planning and implementation of improvements to marketing plans, digital presence and social media strategy to ensure impact and fundraising successes are communicated
• To maintain a stock of impact-focused case studies and success stories and ensure fundraising successes are communicated on social media and online.
• To ensure the robust monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of fundraising strategies and campaigns; providing key input to the annual report and impact report.
• To coordinate fundraising events with the Community Partnerships Manager. 

Line Management

• To have direct line management responsibility for the Community Partnerships Manager and Social Media & Marketing Manager, creating a supportive environment for growth and development.

About the role

As a Peer Support Worker, you’ll use your skills and experience to work directly with people in mental health crisis, via the telephone, face-to-face or online engagement. This service is a crisis drop-in centre for those experiencing, or at risk of a crisis, delivered in partnership between Solent Mind and Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust. You’ll work on a rota basis between 4.00pm - 11.30pm.

About you 

You’ll need to have personal, lived experience of a mental health issue, as well as experience of working with people with mental health needs, excellent communication skills and a strong understanding of the key difficulties and challenges faced by people on their recovery journey.

My Cancer My Choices is looking for a talented relationship builder, people engager, community maker, and money raiser, to support our continued growth and development. 

Our award-winning charity provides complementary therapies to people living with cancer in Berkshire, empowering them and giving them control and choices over the treatments that will help to impove their physcial and mental wellbeing.  We want to biuld on our current success to expand our work and reach more people who would benefit from our support. 

As our new Supporter Development Officer you will enhance existing relationships in our community, and with our current supporters - as well as build new connections - to secure the financial and other support required to fund our growing services. You will work with individuals, community groups and businesses across our area, as well as alongside our fabulous volunteer fundraising committee who organise numerous highly successful fundraising events each year.   

You will be a fantastic ambassador for our organisation, able to convince others to support our valubable work. You'll join a small but growing staff team, who facilitate the work of our large team of incredible volunteer therapists, meeter greeters and volunteer fundraisers, so you need to be a team player, with great communication skills and attention to detail. 

It's a busy, multi-faceted role, great for someone who likes to carry out a broad range of fundraising activities rather than be pigeon-holed (experience in individual giving, commuity fundraising and/or corporate fundraising would be an advantage). Knowledge of the local area and/or complementary therapies, and an understanding of cancer, could be beneficial.Because a lot of the role will be out and about across the county and beyond, meeting people face to face, you'll also need to be a driver with access to a vehicle for work (reasonable adjusments considered).

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Trusts and Foundations Manager to join our team at Leeds Children’s Charity at Lineham Farm. 

This role is a new and important addition to the charity as we drive forward future developments, helping to brighten the lives of children throughout the city. As the Trust Fundraiser, you will be an essential member of the fundraising team, playing a pivotal role in identifying and capitalising on grant opportunities that will contribute to significant growth and long-term sustainability for the charity. This includes cultivating and managing a pipeline of potential funders, as well as staying alert about the external environment to identify new funding opportunities that align with the Charity’s mission and strategic priorities.

The charity has exciting projects, developments, and plans, and Trusts and Foundations will play a crucial role in achieving these objectives. The successful candidate will need to expertly manage the Grants and Trusts Management life cycle to meet predetermined fundraising income targets.

We are looking for an individual who is not only detail-oriented but also passionate about our cause. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with a small yet impactful, and collaborative team.

Knowledge and Experience

* Commitment to core organisational values.

* Excellent written communication skills with a track record of writing successful funding applications, report writing and telling stories with data.

* Experience of researching independently and project management.

* Impact assesement and stakeholder stewardship.

* Experience of using a CRM system and proficient in microsoft office. 

* Management of accurate fund expenditure and budgeting.

* Good understanding of fundraising and/or procurement processes, good practice, principles, and regulations.

* Ideally Third Sector knowledge.

The organisation

Every year in the UK, around 100 children are diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive cancer that mostly affects children under five. Neuroblastoma UK is a small national charity dedicated to finding a cure for this life-threatening disease - and is seeking a talented Senior Communications Officer to help us raise awareness and profile. 

For 40 years, we’ve funded leading research to develop new, more effective and kinder treatments for children with neuroblastoma. You’ll be joining us at an exciting time for the charity as look to fund further research projects to help fight childhood cancer and save more young lives, and build our profile across the national media and social media channels, using the support of our celebrity patrons and families. 

The role

The Senior Communications Officer is responsible for press liaison, pitching in case studies and news stories about our research to the national press, building relationships with our celebrity patrons and families and creating content for our social media channels. A key part of the role is supporting the fundraising campaigns by helping to draft relevant copy for email campaigns and calls-to-action on social media. 

The charity has a small team, so everyone helps with thanking and banking, database management and administrative tasks. And this varied role gives plenty of scope to share creative ideas to develop our portfolio of community activities and challenge events, use your strong communication skills to support fundraisers and apply your excellent organisational skills to track impact and outcomes.

The role currently reports to a committed Board of Trustees, many of whom have a personal connection to the cause.

Responsibilities

• Developing and managing a communications strategy in support of key awareness raising events, fundraising campaigns, funded research, campaigning and family case studies.

• Writing, pitching and distributing press releases to the national media, building up relationships with key journalists.

• Working with the team to develop, maintain and deliver annual social media calendar     , developing engaging, impactful and relevant content, monitoring comments and engagements.

• Supporting the team in helping to produce email marketing copy for campaigns and in producing and maintaining content for the website.

• Monitoring research studies and progress so that results can be publicised in a timely way.

• Supporting delivery of a programme of events for the charity.

• Being the first port of call and liaison for media, families, supporters and potential supporters who get in touch with the charity via telephone, email and social media.

• Tracking, monitoring and evaluating impact of our media and social media activities and adapting accordingly.

• Supporting in duties outside of your specific team or department as required

Person Specification

• Demonstrable experience of communications and working with the media and social media channels.

• Microsoft Office skills – especially Excel

About Schoolreaders:

Schoolreaders was launched ten years ago in Bedfordshire with the aim of recruiting volunteers to provide one-to-one reading support for children in primary schools across the country. Over 22,000 children in over 1000 schools are receiving weekly reading sessions from a Schoolreaders volunteer. One in four children are leaving primary school unable to read to the expected Government standard. Our service is needed more than ever before with 1 in 6 primary schools across the country asking Schoolreaders for reading volunteers. Building on past successes, we have ambitious plans to expand our provision, focussing on areas of deprivation in which children need our support the most.
